Core Design:Brunswick utilized a new twisted symmetric core for the Fury. The Torsion core displays a low RG of 2.49 with a .043 Diff. Our tests found 5" of track flare with out 3.5" pin distance, and 4" with out 4.5 and 5.5" layouts.
Coverstock:Surround this powerful new core is an 800-grit sanded High Octane solid reactive cover. the coloring is conservatively matted red, purple and black. This cover offers enhanced friction in heavier oils, and reads transition as confidently as previous versions of the Activator cover.
Manufacturer's Intent:Brunswick needed a replacement for the year-old Scorchin' inferno. Naturally, it created a stronger reaction for the oils of 2007. The Core is an all-new design, surrounded by its most aggressive solid reactive to date. Our testers feel it has similar traction in oil com, pared to the Scorchin', with more on an attitude off friction in the last 20.
Test Results:The Fury loves oil and needs lots of it to perform effectively. We all know Brunswick covers have a long history of being early and strong on heavier and longer volumes. The fury upholds these virtues and enhances them with a stronger motion off dry boards, even with the 800-factory surface. A 500-grit sanded Fury would receive a 57 hook rating, for those of you who love super-hookers. Smoothing the surface to 2000- and 4000- abralon allowed us the stay with the ball longer and improved its angularity at 40-45'. When highly-polished, the surface increased length and reduced total hook significantly, as is to be expected. We all preferred the Fury with dull surfaces between 800 and 4000 for overall shape and performance. I'd rate the response time off friction as medium with the factory 800 grit.
When to Use:We loved the Fury on our fresh house patterns, with a slight preference on synthetics. We were able to play completely in the oil line and still see an early recovery and great pin carry. Smoothing the surface let us swing it and bring it more, as well as enhanced its breakpoint aggressiveness. Slower speed players need not apply, nor those bowling on lighter/shorter volumes. If you want lots of total hook with a continuous strong arc, this Fury will give you a ride you won't soon forget.
