What Is A Quick Tip To Stop Overturning My Bowling Ball?

What is a quick tip to stop overturning my bowling ball?

Try this technique:

Keep your bowling thumb outside your middle bowling fingers throughout your release.

Right handed bowlers should exit the bowling thumb slightly before your fingers and the thumb should remain to the right of the bowling fingers during the release.

The opposite works for left handed bowlers.

Overturning the ball causes problems in directional accuracy and in maintaining an effective roll on your bowling ball.

When overturning the ball, you risk keeping your thumb in the ball longer than intended and you might pull the shot off line.

Keep your bowling fingers inside the thumb position as you release the ball and follow through.

Stay behind the ball as long as possible before rotating your fingers.

Usually, a half inch or perhaps as much as one inch of finger rotation can help you develop a good ball motion.

There is no need to rotate your hand completely over the top of the ball or allow your bowling elbow to break toward the outside of your body when rotating your fingers.

Keep your elbow and your hand behind the ball with your thumb outside your bowling finger positions and you will eliminate overturning the ball.

With a little practice and getting used to this new feel you will sense when implementing this technique, your release will become consistent and you will reduce the urge to overturn your ball.

Your thumb position at the point of release is critical in gaining an effective release.
