Life:
Richard Dean Carrubba passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was 74 years old. Richard lived in Diamondhead, Mississippi with his loving wife, Gayle. They happily married on December 11, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Richard was born in Oakland, California on November 10, 1946 to Frank Richard Carrubba and Grace Camarata Carrubba. He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his brother, Donald Carrubba; his niece, Kimberly Carrubba; and nephew Michael Carrubba.
On his wife’s side of the family, Richard leaves behind her brother, Roger Gardner and his wife, Brenda; her sister, Elizabeth Davis; and nieces Christine, Renee, and Denice and their husbands and children. He also leaves behind many dear friends such as: Vial Blanke, John and Sandi Rath, Eddie Pepper, Bob Tetak, Fred Borden, Charles Murray, cousin Fred Carrubba, Sam Flanagan, Brian Hafer, Joe Yelencsics, Cliff McNealy, Randy Pedersen, John Petraglia, and so many more that loved him.
Richard attended CAL Berkeley in 1965. In January 1966, he joined the United States Air Force. He left with an Honorable Discharge rating as a Staff Sergeant in December 1969. After coming home, he decided to start a career in the bowling world. Richard was with the PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) for many years. His talent for bowling led him to win the October 1984 PBA Western Classic Championship in Los Angeles, California.
Deciding not to tour on the bowling circuit, Richard worked for Coast Resorts in Las Vegas, becoming the Resident Pro at the Coast’s two properties: Gold Coast Casino & Hotel and the Orleans Casino & Hotel bowling centers. Richard even had his own call-in radio show to help bowlers with their game and produced three pamphlet books on bowling. After 10 years, he left Coast Resorts. He then started with Storm Bowling in Utah, eventually becoming a Vice President with that company, leaving them 10 years later. His last adventure in bowling was to write on the internet for his good friend, Keith Spear, owner of
