Use A Wide Bowling Ball Path

If you find yourself having any difficulties following the motion of your ball, use a wide bowling ball path.
When you try to follow the travel path of your ball, you have to take into consideration your initial launch angle of attack to your aim point and then the two transition points further down the lane.
If you visualize a three board wide bowling ball delivery path, all you need do is to deliver your ball inside this path on its way to your aim point.
This implies that your aim point is in the middle of this 3 board wide ball path as your ball passes by the bowling arrows on the lane where most bowlers typically sight.
Using a wide ball path helps you see your ball during the skid phase of your ball motion in the front end of the lane. In fact, you can visualize a ball path in color if this helps your “mind’s eye” see the path.
Because of this, you will not need to feel you must be quite as precise in hitting your aim point. Being overly precise can cause you to force your delivery and make a poor shot.
Trying to squeeze a shot over a very small mark on the lane can cause swing tension coupled with a loss of ball speed control and accuracy.
Be aware that the three board wide delivery path must have the same intended ball delivery angle as if you were taking “dead aim” at a one board wide sight target near the arrows.
Also keep in mind that you can extend this visualization of a three board wide ball travel path all the way into the pocket following the three phases of ball motion known as the skid, hook, and roll phases.
In the front end, you will see a straight path to your aim point (assuming it is near the arrows), in the mid-lane you will see a very small angle change where the ball hooks slightly, and at the beginning portion of the back end of the lane you will see your ball enter the roll phase of motion and take on its given angle of entry to the pocket.
Although being deadly accurate is not a must to achieve high scores, it helps to take sharp aim at your sight target with a determined effort to release your ball consistently inside this three board wide delivery path.
Next time you are practicing, test this three board delivery path method and sharpen your powers of visualization.
Visualization is a powerful tool for any skilled player. The process of seeing the shot before delivering it is not new but it helps your brain prepare to command your body movements before you bowl. This visualization is certainly a major part of your pre-shot routine and should be used before every shot you make. Following a pre-shot routine helps you begin your approach with positive thoughts in mind and with a clear intent of how and where you will be delivering your bowling ball.
