If you are a talented, competitive bowler, your patience will be tested occasionally when you struggle on the lanes. It is at times like these that you must always bowl for the win.
It is easy to bowl with passion and to try and close out your opponent when you are on top of your game, but it becomes far more challenging when you are struggling to make quality shots.
It is during the challenging times that you develop character if you never give in or give up on trying to bowl each shot the best you possibly can.
Getting frustrated or angry when things are not going your way is not a recipe for success.
Although it is human nature to dislike losing and to fail giving your best effort, you must resist those tendencies and always play to win, never give up trying your best in any situation during competition or during practice.
Treat each shot as though it is the most important shot you will ever deliver.
Giving up trying to make your best efforts when you are “out of the wood” during competition and have no chances at winning only develops the quitting attitude which will follow you even when you are bowling well.
When you are bowling well, you do not want one poor shot or poor result to default into the quitting attitude where you “toss in the towel” and give up entirely.
By establishing the frame of mind that regardless if you are bowling well and are on the way to winning or whether you are bowling poorly you will give everything you have to making good shots and never quit trying to bowl your very best.
The winning attitude is a habit founded upon the principles of always trying your best every time to prepare to bowl in competition or in practice.
Never giving up is the building block on the path toward winning. Always bowl for the win.
Other factors, however, can contribute to poor performances during competition such as anxiety and tension. Learning to relax when bowling in highly competitive situations goes a long way to helping you perform your best when it counts the most. Maintaining good form when releasing your ball and maintaining a consistent tempo as you walk and swing your bowling ball are other keys to winning.
