Chris and the gang at RotoGrip are back at it with the Allout ShowOff! The HotShot Core is wrapped up with the Stoked Hybrid cover to give you that smooth mid lane feel that we all love. I drilled mine with my go to "I need help to get a down lane ball reaction pin up layout"....yup. Right off the rip, I was very comfortable tossing this ball while filming the reaction video. I felt like I had ten boards to play with, since my accuracy is like a sprinkler head, I got in with it...it held, I got right with it...it got back. Never too much or too little, it was a predictable, confidence inspiring shape on the lane. This ball looks really good on the shelf as well, I'm always pleased when a release works great, looks cool and leaves a few bucks in your purse after the purchase. We have sold a bunch of these in my shop and everyone is stoked with it. Great job again to SquadRG!!! #ownit

The DareDevil is a nice addition to the HP3 line. My customers love the color, the price and the performance. For me, it was smoother than I originally expected it to be. I drill most of my symmetric equipment using a pin above/below basic layout depending on the intent of the ball. I went pin above with my DareDevil and saw a nice shape that is a bit uncommon for a pearl cover ball. I'm slightly speed dominant with lower tilt, so my pearl stuff can be a bit unforgiving on certain patterns. The DarDevil was a refreshing site to see with easy length and controllable down lane motion. I highly recommend this ball to anyone with some hand, slower ball speed or a player trying to get the pearl length with a solid type look on the back. Great ball, go grab one today! #rotogrip #SquadRG #ownit

The DareDevil Trick is a great addition to the Roto line and a perfect companion to the OG DareDevil. If you need more traction on higher volume patterns or you have higher ball speed, this is the rock to drill. I drilled mine with a 5 inch pin under my fingers to really take advantage of the control that this ball has. I was happy with the motion and overall shape the Trick displayed. I don't usually bowl well with solid equipment due to my tilt and axis rotation, but when I have a lake in front of me, the Trick is the rod in my hand. I've drilled a few in my shop and the results have been awesome. I highly suggest giving this ball a try and props to the team for another good release. #SquadRG #ownit

The Halo is the top of the food chain for RotoGrip. If you need to hook it, this is your new ball. I wanted to write this review a few months ago but, I've had some family situations that put the breaks on a lot of things...anyway. I don't typically like asymm, big cover bowling balls. I track and tilt a bit high and can have some quit happen down lane...I was surprised how much energy was left for the backend, it was crazy how hard of a response this beast makes. I drilled a handful up for some customers with varying styles and all agreed on being impressed with the angle of the Halo. Compared to the NORules Exist, the Halo has a different feel all together, the NRE is strong but more controllable where the Halo digs in and gets it! I can see where both balls could have a place in your bag for some heavier volumes or on the famous wet/dry house shots. Give this rock a go! Great release from Chris and the Grips!!!! #SquadRG

The Halo Pearl is here. It features the Centrum Asymmetrical weight Block and it’s wrapped up in ETRAX-p18 pearl. I drilled mine 5 x 3 x 1, my thought process was a to keep energy retention high and turn this thing loose at the end of the pattern. I tested on our house shot which is 42 feet in length with the adult bumpers set to maximum. I am clearly a sprinkler out there ladies and gentleman and I suppose that’s why I tend to favor pearl bowling balls. They suit my plan of attack which is, stay around the ball track, don’t miss right and try to hook it a bit. Shooting with the Super SoniQ right before I shot with the Halo Pearl was as close to a perfect ball change as you can get. The Super SoniQ dug in hard and rolled smoothly thru the mid lane, the Halo floats on the front of the lane right before it hits the turbo at the breakpoint. I always show every shot I roll in succession, I feel like it helps people see how the lane is changing and where my bad shots are. The halo was not as forgiving as a solid ball would’ve been but, let’s face the facts, you don’t go out and drill a pearl asymm to control the break point, you want to see that ball get crooked down lane. I had a lot fun throwing it.

I would stack this ball right under the Hyper Cell Fused as far as overall strength goes. The hybrid cover on the Fused is clearly stronger and it has a much more predictable shape in the mid lane. The Idol pearl comes to mind as well, that would fit in between the Fused and Halo in total length and the amount of angle that you get.

Why you should buy it? If you liked the No Rules Pearl and are looking for something close to that motion, I’d say the Halo Pearl is in that wheelhouse. The only negative I found was the color choice. Don’t get me wrong, it looks cool but, it seems they got a bit complacent. I feel like Roto Grip is the wild younger brother with a face tattoo who is always causing trouble and people have come to expect bold choices. That is just my opinion, let me know if you agree.

Thank you for checking out my review. Do a good deed today and stop by your favorite RotoGrip Shop, maybe you’ll get a Halo….get it?

The Hustle Hybrid is a very logical addition to the already very impressive Hustle lineup. The OG Hustles were pretty darn good and then the Ink hit the scene and forget about it…Everyone is looking to spend less money and get a great product, right? I know that is what my customers want and RotoGrip has delivered time and again in that segment. The HP1, 2 and 3 line up is ridiculous at their perspective price points…I know I’m getting off the topic here and I realize some would say, “here is another staff guy worshipping the brand he’s part of” but, if you know me at all, I always give credit where it’s due and Roto just gets it done in this category. The Hybrid version of the Hustle is exactly what you think it might be…stable, smooth and strong. I put it a few boards weaker than the ShowOff and a touch cleaner as well. I roll it pretty straight in comparison to all the younger big wheelers out there and when my Ink is not enough at the beginning of the night, the Hybrid sees the lane a lot better. Overall, what I see from the Hustles I’ve drilled for my customers, be it the Inks and the Hybrids, is a very affordable and surprisingly trustworthy bowling ball. I’ve got a few people drilling up two and even three of these rocks. At the end of the day, with all the releases at a very competitive price point in our sport, take a look at RotoGrips HP1 Hustle line. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you on the lanes. #ownit

The Hustle Ink is the new HP1 addition to the Hustle line. Let's get right to it....Go drill this ball! In fact, drill two or three....In my opinion and the opinion of countless others this ball is as pure as it gets. A solid symmetric house shot killer for under 150 bucks....c'mon!? I've drilled numerous iterations of this ball for just about every style of bowler and the reactions are incredible...."best ball I've thrown" "another 300" "the ball hits like it costs $200"

I went with my typical pin up symmetric layout on my Ink. In my video shoot, I had ten to the gutter, miss and hold. The ball hits well and is right in my wheel house. I used it in league during the third game when my other stuff started to cook on me....I moved my feet in, threw it right and watched her rip! People came up and asked, "what the hell is that?" It was fun to see their reaction to an "entry level" price point ball. Absolute homerun from Chris and the Gang!!! #ownit #SquadRG

What can you say? These Hustles are awesome! Great colors, performance and shelf appeal. I have everybody from beginning bowlers up to high level scratch players loving these rocks. The Hustle POW, for me, has been the go to ball for moving back in the track and playing them a bit straighter. I have slightly high ball speed and low tilt, so I need to be careful with weaker stuff loosing energy. This ball does not disappoint, great length, energy retention and hit. I recently put out a video with this ball, the Wreck'Em and the No Rules Pearl. The hit at the pin deck was impressive, to the point that if you didn't see the shot, you couldn't tell the difference between the bowling balls. I hope these balls stay around for awhile, the are great for any level of bowler and all of my customers love them! Thanks for reading and we'll see you on the lanes. #SquadRG

The all new Hustle RAP fills in the pearl spot in the line. I drilled mine with a pin up layout with the CG just outside of my GC. It reminded me of the Pink pearl Hustle from a few years ago. It had a surprising amount of energy down lane even from a non power player like myself. I've always been impressed by the Hustle line, the ink was a beast and all of the releases have paired very nicely. The RAP will be your go to second shift ball or for those big wheelers, maybe the first ball on the lane. #SquadRG

The HyperCell Fused is the latest HP4 release from the crew at RotoGrip. The eTrax-H18 Hybrid Reactive cover is the wheel around the engine, the crazy popular Nucleus Asymmetrical block. I drill for a bunch of Roto-Heads and all of them were stoked when they heard about this ball. I drilled mine using a 5x4x2.5 and this ball was a flare monster...the five inch pin location still created flare rings that just about encompassed the ball...crazy. In my head I was assuming a look on the lane that resembled the Storm CodeRed, but what I saw from the HyperCell was way more energy down lane. We bowl on a THS with 42ft of Kegel Current conditioner, it's not hard to hit the pocket but I have lower axis tilt and at times when I get my feet in the pattern it's tricky to bounce my stuff back. I had no problem looping the Fused around the corner and still retaining great hitting power. This ball is worth the price of admission! I've drilled the Fused for a bunch of people so far and I am happy to report that four of those people have had honor scores with it....woooo!!! Go grab a HyperCell Fused from your local shop, you will not be disappointed. It looks awesome, It hits like a ton of bricks and you'll toss pretty high numbers with it. Great release from Chris and the Gang! #ownit

Thank you for taking some time to read my review, here we go!

The Idol pearl has been out for about three months now and I apologize for writing a late review. It features the Ikon Symmetric weight block, the same as inside the OG Idol, and the eTrax-P18 pearl cover which is found on the new Halo Pearl. I'll start by saying how much I enjoyed that cover, for me, a lot of RG releases tend to be a bit early and smooth. That most likely due to my style so, I was very pleased with the amount of down lane motion I got out of Idol Pearl. I typically use a five inch pin up layout to promote forward roll and energy retention on pearl symm bowling balls which has worked out very well as of late.
The Idol Pearl has been my ball of choice during league play when the track starts to burn up and I need to start moving my feet left. I really like the easy length and predictable shape I get out of this ball. I was a bit surprised at the control I had from a strong pearl ball. Typically a pearl creates too much angle and weird pin carry. The pairing of the core and cover was a great idea from the crew at RotoGrip. This ball has sold great in the shop and customers have been tossing some big sets with it. It seems to favor lower rev rate players, which is not a surprise to me being that the heavy handed bunch get over/under from most pearl balls. That's what I got, again thank you for reading. If you'd like to see the video, go to Callahan's Performance Bowling on YouTube.
Go to your local RotoGrip ProShop and check out the Idols.

I was only able to drill one of these ladies, so I'm writing this review based on that ball. I'm speed dominant, have a lower axis rotation and I drilled my NoRules with a strong flaring pin. I tried it out of the box and was let down by the over all motion. I feel like it created so much friction that it lost all of it's energy and hit very weak....my center has a 45ft. pattern with a buff distance of 35ft., so we have plenty of conditioner to make the shells skid. Carry was an issue with box finish and I thought polishing the surface will create better energy retention. It was exactly what this beast needed! After the surface adjustment I was striking at will. I've got about 5 games on it since with a solid 230 plus ave. in all. In the shop, with lower rev and or higher ball speed players, this is the ball to drill. For any tweener type players, like myself, I don't suggest it. Overall it's a great looking ball and I can't wait for the pearl edition! #ownit

The NoRules Exist is the next offering in RotoGrips high performance, HP4 lineup. The Chaotic core returns, wrapped in the new Reckless solid reactive cover. I'll start by saying that, typically, solid covers and me don't get along that well. I have lower than average tilt, a bit too much forward roll and I like to throw it firm....I'm the pro-shop guy, not a superstar. The OG NoRules rolled way too early for my skill set, I needed a flood at my feet to get the ball to retain what little axis rotation I have. When I got the Exist, I knew I needed a bigger front angle and a longer pin to help my cause. 65x5x35 was the layout I went with and I use it for most of the Asymms I drill. I tossed it the first game of league, we bowl on a THS using Kegel Current conditioner, I was very impressed. The Exist has much better length and more motion down lane than the OG/NR. It carried very well and it drew some attention from other bowlers who couldn't believe that I was hooking it! haha....My center hosted a Have-A-Ball Summer league and this rock was a popular pick. We drilled a bunch the last few weeks and so far the first impressions are really positive. If you need a new beast in your bag to replace the old asymm big wheeler...this is the ball to drill. Go see your shop guy and grab it up! Great release from Roto, keep it #SquadRG and when you're on the lanes... #ownit

The new HP4 release is the No Rules Pearl. This ball is the perfect compliment to the original No Rules, it's longer down lane and has twice as much angle. If you're bowling and the track starts to burn on you, grab the pearl, move left and let her rip. We drilled up a few in my shop for our Roto-Heads and the feed back has been great. It plays well on fresh as long as you get the ball some friction...I'm slightly speed dominant and have low axis tilt, my asymmetric equipment tends to burn up a bit quick, so I put a 70x5x40 layout on my NP Pearl. I did not have a nice look on my first game during league, so I bagged the pearl until the track opened up a bit. Once I had more miss room right, this new rock shined! I tossed some horrible shots, this ball came back screaming and scattered pins with ease. I know we are all familiar with the "this ain't coming back..." shot, trust me, it gets back! If you have a spot in your bag for a new pearl asymm. or a customer that loves to rev it up and get it right....this is the ball to drill! The ShowOff is the new HP2 release from RotoGrip. The Micro DNA shell from the original NoRules is wrapped around the HotShot Symmetrical core. At first, when I heard about this release, I wasn't too sure I'd like it. Solid stuff doesn't like me very much, it tends to roll too soon and hit like a pillow...So, when I drilled my ShowOff, I slapped a basic pin up with a cg kick on it. Looking for some energy retention from the drilling, I figured I'd leave the surface box and see how she rolled. The first handful of shots were very impressive, like "this can't be an HP2 ball" impressive. I threw it on our THS that is 42 feet and as easy as it can be. I'm no big rev rate dude, but this ball made it look like I had 500 revs on the lane. I was tossing at the gutter and it was bouncing back. It still had great energy at the pin deck, considering the angle it was recovering from. During the recording of my video review, I struck the most with this ball....and I was not rolling it well that day. Since it's release, I've drilled at least 25 of these bad boys for my customers. The performance value for the price is outstanding!!! A very good release from Chris and RotoGrip! #ownit #SquadRG

Hi and thank you for reading my review for the RotoGrip Winner Solid, here we go….I drilled my Winner solid pin under my fingers which works out to be five inches from my axis. This ball hooks a bunch, more than I was expecting for sure. I'm a high track player with below average tilt and maybe a tad too much speed. The winner plays right into my wheelhouse, it gives you tug room in the oil and it is smoother off the friction for those wide from target type shots. I would compare it to the OG Idol as far as the shape on the lane is concerned but, with less energy at the breakpoint. It will take a handful of games to glaze the surface and when that happens, in my opinion, the Winner gets even better. Right out of the box it was too close to the Idol and did not make a whole lot of sense to have both of those balls in my bag. My Idol is pin up with a five inch pin and has more perceived angle at the end of the pattern. Needless to say, the price you pay for the amount of reaction you get is really something to commend. If you have a little less hand and you need some budget hook this is the rock to go get. Great job by the Roto Team! Keep them rolling in! #SquadRG

The WreckEm is the latest HP2 release from RotoGrip. This ball is flat out fun to roll! Wind it up, get it to friction and watch it fly. I'm a huge fan of pearl symmetric bowling balls, so I was "pumped" to drill this one out. My customers love it, it looks great on the shelf and the price point is crazy good. If you've got some hand, this ball works well on fresh house shots. It does skid easy, so don't get too brave on heavier oil patterns. I drilled mine with the pin above my ring at 4 1/4 from my PAP and the flare from the core was impressive. I'm slightly speed dominant with lower tilt and I had no problems getting this ball to pocket on our house shot. I'm putting a video out on this ball soon and I plan to test it on a few sport conditions. I highly recommend this ball to more experienced players as well as new bowlers looking for a wallet friendly performance product. Thanks for reading and good luck on the lanes. #rotogrip #ownit

Once again I'm blown away by a mid priced release. This must be the trend that companies are following. I drilled my Wreck-It and NORules on the same day. I took them both out during my summer league practice, got stretched out, tossed them and couldn't believe that the wreck-it out hooked the NoRules....I drilled the Wreck-It with a pin under my fingers, which is a 5 inch from pap, and my cg swung 45 dergees with a balance hole on my val. I was expecting a smooth and stable roll and that is what I got, just an arrow stronger than I thought. I'm drilling two tonight for my customers, I'll add to the post after the results. Go get this ball. If you are a Pro Shop guy or gal, go sell these bad boys! You'll Love It and Wreck It! #ownit #rotogrip

When I heard we were getting this ball I was excited. The RAD core and R2S combo was a great idea to include in the line. I drilled mine 70x3/34x30, I have lower tilt than average, so I keep my drilling angles high. I bowl twice a week, once on a lower volume THS and the other with a higher volume. The CodeBlack on low volume is very fun to roll, clean down lane with great energy retention. I struggled to get comfortable on the higher volume shot, to much conditioner for the R2S to dig into. My ball speed hovers around 18 plus, so I really had to square up and get the shell to see some friction. For a comparison, my Snaplock is about 3 to 4 boards stronger and rolls a few feet earlier. I have a bit more miss room on the higher volume pattern with the Snaplock. Overall the CodeBlack looks great on the shelf, it has enough backend motion to satisfy my customers and I've had no negative comments yet. If you want to replace your older Pearl Asymm, then this is the rock for you

Here it is!!! The CodeRed! I was really excited for the CodeBlack, my favorite weight block and an awesome cover,,,you can't go wrong! The CodeRed brings back the RAD4 and wraps it up with the R2S Hybrid cover! Seriously, get your feet in and wheel this bad boy! I drilled mine 65x5x35, this is my typical "Flip it" layout. Knowing that the cover would be sooner and that my tilt is a bit on the low side, this ball still had great push in the front. It was 3/4 feet earlier than the CodeBlack with a smoother transition and great continuation thru the pins. If you liked the CodeBlack and you need a bit more roll on the fresh...this is your rock! My customers love it, I love it and you will def love it. Go drill one up today! #stormnation

The CodeX features the R2S cover and the RAD4 Asymmetrical weight block…the numbers are 2.50 RG, .058 Diff and an Intermediate Diff of .020
This ball reminded me of a more angular SureLock, if you can imagine that. The CodeX is stronger off the friction and longer down the lane. I don’t have a lot of axis rotation so, my SureLock rolled up too soon once the track dried out and I couldn’t move left and still carry the corner pins…with that said, The CodeX filled that void for me, if you need a strong piece and struggle a bit with axis rotation and or rev rate, you should take look at this ball. I’ve drilled a few for higher rev rate players and they can get this ball back from anywhere.
I’m a huge fan of the RAD4 weight block and I enjoyed rolling all of the Code Series Bowling balls. The CodeBlack was fun and it really turned the corner, the CodeRed was more reserved and controlled the pocket. The CodeX, to me, is the perfect addition to this line.
It is the ball you go to on higher volumes and longer patterns or if you need a little help with some hook. What can I say, I hope this ball stays around for awhile.
I’ll quickly touch on the “Is this the Alpha Crux reborn” Topic…In my opinion, It Is NOT…which isn’t a bad thing, they are two different rolling balls. I know some specs were released showing similarities but, again, I personally didn’t see them very close...that's just my opinion.
The CodeX is a nice fit into my arsenal and I think you would like it too, given the right situations. #stormnation

Storm CruxPrime Review

Thank you for checking out our review of the new Storm CruxPrime.

The Prime brings to us the return of the Catalyst asymmetric weight block which was popular in the original Crux line up from a few years ago. The cover, on the other hand, is brand new and team Utah calls it SPEC, which stands for Storm Performance Enhanced Coverstock. The goal behind this new cover is to increase durability and performance over the lifespan of the bowling ball. We all have drilled a bowling ball, used it for a few months and got to a point where we are wondering where the reaction went. SPEC was designed to combat the, maybe until now, unavoidable downward spiral of performance drop off. I suppose we will see in the upcoming months how SPEC holds up.

I drilled two CruxPrime’s for our review, the first is a five inch pin down with the PSA 3 inches from my axis and the second is a 4 inch pin up with the PSA five inches from my axis. I bowled on our challenge pattern which is 39 feet with a five to one ratio, we named this shot in the memory of my Grandfather Bud Callahan. He was tough and fair but had an easy going side that people loved. That explains this shot, a bit tough, very fair but, not too difficult to overcome.

When I’ve tested on this pattern before I had to keep my angles pretty tight. Mind you, I have an average rev rate with a bit higher ball speed and lower-ish tilt. If you know about ball reaction with my type of stats than you know that I need some help at the breakpoint. Typically, I have to wait for the pattern to develop before I get comfortable with moving my target in. After rolling the CruxPrime for just a couple shots, I thought I put the wrong pattern out. I instantly had between three and five more boards to miss by and trust me, I miss often. The Prime never seemed to quit! The pin down was smooth with a round mid-lane roll and the pin up had a touch more quickness coming off the dry boards. I say a touch more because of how strong this SPEC cover is, both balls were reacting within feet of each other, the only noticeable difference that I could see and maybe I’m imagining it, was the pin up seemed to tip over faster. With that said, I liked the way the block went through the pins better on the pin down.

In comparison to the PhysiX, which is my current favorite ball, both CruxPrimes are about three boards stronger overall. I have my PhysiX drilled like the pin up Prime and between the two, the Prime is around two or more feet earlier than the PhysiX.

In closing I am excited to get the CruxPrime into the hands of my lower rev rate players. I can think of a few gals and guys who are going to love rolling this ball. I am planning to do a second video after release to see how Spec is holding up so, keep a look out for that.

Again, thank you for your time! I am Fred Callahan of Callahan’s Performance Bowling and Bowl-O-Rama in Ct. Go grab a CruxPrime from your local Storm VIP Pro-Shop and go bowl up a Storm!

The Drive is the Second Signature release from Storm And Jason Belmonte. It features the DualDrive weight block from the Timeless and the all new R2S Nano cover. I drilled my Drive with a Five inch pin above my fingers and my PSA slightly right of my thumb. I did not get time to practice with it before I bowled league, so I just went for it. We bowl on a 42 foot THS, Current conditioner and it's not tough to find the pocket. I was very impressed with how easy the Drive got down the lane, I thought that the cover would be way to much for our medium-ish volume. The ball hit really well and shaped up nicely at the end of the pattern. I used it for two games, the first game I shot was 237 with a split and a few corners and the next game was clean in the 220's. Near the end of the second game is where the carry started getting tough, I couldn't get a good angle to the pocket to shake out the ten pin. I don't create enough axis rotation to move in and staying right was not an option, so at that point I switched to a weaker cover. I've drilled a bunch of these for my customers and the feed back has been incredible. All in all the Drive is a great partner to the Timeless, they both shine in what they do best, the Drive is honest and smooth, the Timeless is cocky and sharp....great descriptions right? If you need that control ball for more oil or that sport shot killer...this Drive is the real deal. Cheers to the Utah Gang for a great release!!! #stormnation

The Electrify Pearl is the newest addition to the hot line. It has the Reactor Pearl cover from the Tropical line with the brand new Circuit Core. I drilled mine with a pin up layout and it rolled exactly how I expected it to. I was able to play in the friction on the fresh and saw a nice pop off the dry boards. This new core rolled up very nicely and worked effortlessly with Reactor. Check out our video for more in-depth information. The hot line needed a nice refresh and the Electrify fits that bill. #stormnation

Storm Fever Pitch

The Storm Fever Pitch is the newest addition to the Urethane Pitch line of bowling balls. It features the Power + Control Pearl Urethane Cover with the Tour Block Symmetrical in the center. I tested on our house shot which is 42 feet in length with a few gallons of conditioner’s in the middle. I rolled the Fever after I shot footage for the Super SoniQ and Halo Pearl, figuring I would beat the track up enough to give me a good look from the outside angle I was going to play. I always try to be as honest as possible with my reviews and opinions about new releases so, with that in mind, I have never had any use for urethane bowling balls. That is not because they are not good, the fact is that I am not good. My most common miss is to the right and urethane does not reward bad shots most of the time, especially when you miss wide. It’s funny how quickly your confidence goes away when you roll a ball that doesn’t help you out. I was striking with ease using the two other releases and then I grabbed the Fever Pitch and was awoke by my blatant inaccuracies laughing in my face. Nice…

Overall the fever was a bit sharper down lane compared to the Pitch Black, given that sharper is not a regular adjective used to describe these types of balls. I used it in a tournament on a shorter sport shot and had a better feel with it. I assume the design intent is for less volume and or shorter pattern designs. When I finally threw it well I did strike a couple times but, my swing was wonky trying to stay tight and those wrap corner pins were letting me know that I was close but, not there yet.

I have and will continue to recommend the Pitch series to players that need control on friction and to those folks that really twist it up at the bottom. I’ll also say that the Fever, by far is my favorite of the Pitch line.

Storm Gravity Evolve

The Gravity Evolve is the newest premiere release from Storm. It utilizes Shape-Lock HD as the engine and SPEC as the tires. The HD stands for high density which should give bowlers a heavy rolling shape on the lane. The numbers for a 15 pound Evolve are 2.48 RG, .052 diff and .020 intermediate diff. SPEC makes another appearance here, coming off two great releases, the Crux Prime and ProMotion.
We tested on Stone Street, which measures out to 42 feet with a nine and half to one ratio. We use Kegel Curve for our conditioner.
It took our ball tester a few shots to get comfortable with the Evolve. Our tester was right handed, with about 400 out of his hand and his speed is right around 17mph. He said it was the strongest ball he’s thrown in awhile. Normally we stay safe with his ball choice, something more mellow to combat wet dry house shots. Once he moved his feet left and trusted the reaction, it was impressive to see how much room the Gravity created. Watching him bowl, I would put it between a SureLock and a CodeX as far as angle down lane. That seems pretty specific but, it makes sense from my stand point. If you’re looking for a big rolling asymmetric ball to battle those high volume patterns, look no further.
Another great design from team Utah

The Hyroad Nano is the new kid in the family and the crew at Storm are proud of their bouncing baby boy!!! This ball is STRONG….like, it makes me look like I can hook it strong. I went to my “pin up on everything because that’s how I like it” layout and I was flat out impressed. The day I tested mine, I was shooting four different bowling balls and had a pretty good feel that day. The Nano was the last ball I decided to roll, in fact, I wasn’t too sure if I should shoot it that day…I’m getting old, so I was tired…haha. Just watching this ball roll down the lane after my first shot got my blood pumping again. I continued to bowl with it for almost an hour longer and it was hard to put it down. I’m a bit of a low tilt guy with some forward roll and it is tough for me to get left and bounce it, that is before this thing. I got my feet to about 28 and the Nano had no problem arcing back from five, smashing the rack and then rolling back out of the ball return grinning like, “I got you bro!” Honestly, that’s how it happened….I’m very excited about this ball and it will be in my bag for awhile to come, not to mention, we can’t keep them on the shelf in the shop. Go now, buy it, drill it and #bowlupastorm

The HyroadX is a celebration of the OG Hyroad and In the current, “drop a ball every month” type market, it’s amazing that the hyroad has hung in for this long. It says a lot about how good people think this ball is…The X uses the Inverted FE2 block with no outer core material, this increases the restitution which makes the ball deflect less when it hits the pocket. Storm wrapped it up with the R2X solid cover finished with 1500 grit and some polish.

The shelf appeal is great…a solid color and some gold in the logo keep the look clean, simple and classic.

After having this ball for two months and having used it during league and the filming of my video review. I can say that the X, for me at least, does not like oil…at all. I understand that price point and design intent will govern the final ball reaction. So, for my less rev and tilt style, I had to get it right, sometimes uncomfortably right…it was a leap of faith sending the X to the five board but, I was rewarded for my risks. The X is a boomerang coming off the pattern. I drilled a bunch of HyroadX’s for other customers and had the same conversation with them all….you need to get it right…once they listened, they saw what this ball is capable of. So, I suppose that is the upside and now for the downside. It was near impossible for me to use the X right out of the gate during my weekly league. This ball was a better late option for me, rather than a first choice. With that in mind, I’ve seen a bunch of stronger players successfully use it during the first game and on more volume. I don’t bowl on sport conditions often, especially during the winter, but I can see the HyroadX working pretty well on moderate length sport patterns.

Overall the HyroadX is near the MatchUp Hybrid for me as far as strength is concerned. Which makes sense due to the closeness of the cost, about 25 dollars different between the two depending where look. I think it would have been fun to see the original hybrid cover on the X, kind of a relaunch or reboot of the classic but, since the classic Hyroad is still being made, I suppose that would’ve been a waste. I see where it fits in with the other Hyroad releases and it’s reasonable to think you could have a spot for each in your bag.

In closing…The HyroadX is a slick looking release, it loves to bounce off the dry boards and if you get on it pretty good or you’re a bit slower with your speed you will put a lot of X’s on the monitor.

Thank you again for your time. I am Fred Callahan of Callahan’s Performance Bowling and Bowl-O-Rama in Connecticut

The Intense is Storms high performance release from October. I know it's January and I'm way behind....holiday madness. The new Asymm RAD-E core is wrapped up with the R3S cover. So, first off, this ball hooks a ton....I drilled two of these beasts, one pin up and the other down. Our house shot is a THS, 42 feet in length and we use Kegel Current lane conditioner. I was amazed at how quickly this ball read the lane....with a pearl shell, one would assume a clean front end reaction, nope. The pin down had a very strong arc through the pattern and the pin up was just a touch more angular at the spot. I'm no super star on the lanes and this ball is above my pay grade. I don't have enough axis rotation to move in to the oil where this ball wants to be. I basically flat corner pinned every shot or I'd miss it a touch and go bucket, half bucket. The R3S is just too aggressive for me and my pedestrian skill level. I drilled a few for some other customers and the response was similar..."wow, it hooks" "kinda burns up" or "wow, it really hooks" So, with that, if you bowl on soup and you can't get a ball to read, the Intense is the rock for you. Thanks for reading. #stormnation

The iQ Tour Nano Pearl is the newest addition to the beloved iQ Family. With C3 Centripetal Control as the engine and a pearl variation of Nano as the tires, the iQ at first glance seems like it's trying to fit into a bunch of different categories. Once I got it on the lane, my first impression changed...I went with a 5.25 pin under my bridge with the cg 1.5 outside of my grip center. Purposely, my intent was a smoother motion, due to the various pin above/pearls I've been "collecting" as of late. It all made sense after the third or fourth shot down the lane, iQ was incredibly readable and had generous power at the pin deck. My flare band was tight which allowed me to play the wet/dry on Kegel Carbon with ease. I had flashbacks of the OG iQ from years ago, that ball was big and roll-ie and packed a punched. This new iQ will be perfect for blending the cliffs on our modern "THS" that we all love so much. Great release from Utah. #stormnation

The MatchUp Pearl is the latest edition to the MatchUp Line. It's a pearl but, it's sanded....so, it is the smoothest MatchUP that I've rolled. I drilled it pin up, which is my go to symmetric layout and it reacted like I assumed it would. Honestly, it's a weird release for me...I didn't love the Match or MatchUp line. They are not bad bowling balls but, I just didn't have a spot for them. The MatchUp Hybrid was my favorite one by far, I made a video on that ball and it was fun to roll. The "pearl" just doesn't fit anywhere...it's too early to stay in the track and the cover is too lazy to move in. Just my opinion but, if you have to drastically change surfaces on a ball to get a comfortable look, it's not the right ball for me. I have to mention that I did not get a ton of reps with this ball, maybe on shorter, lighter and/or sport patterns it would be stellar. Maybe I don't get around it enough...probably. It smells really good, so there is that. If you need something smooth and stable for lighter conditions, go grab one and let me know how wrong I am. Thank you for reading. #stormnation

I drilled the MatchUp with my pin above my ring finger which works out to be a five and a quarter pap to pin distance. The matchup features the stinger 2.0 weight block as the engine and reactor hybrid as the tires. The MatchUp line has been a fun series of equipment to roll. I've had a pretty good look with all of them. This was the first time I've used a MatchUp on StoneStreet and honestly, I really struggled to get comfortable.I think the pattern load might need to be tweaked a bit because I had no room to miss. With that said, my ball speed is too fast and my rev rate could use some work but, normally on this type of shot, I have more room than I did for this video.I used it in league when the track started to burn and my confidence returned for this ball.I understand that this ball is not supposed to be the first ball out of your bag but, it should give you something coming off the corner of the lane.
When you first see it on the shelf, it will remind you of a polished PhysiX which is pretty awesome. I actually fooled a few people by telling them it was a PhysiX pearl. The sad news is that mine had no scent...like, nothing. I was looking forward to the fragrance so, that was a bummer.Overall....It's a MatchUp, it looks cool, it kinda hooks and it doesn't smell.

The MatchUp Hybrid is Storms third edition to the MatchUp line. It uses the Stinger 2.0 core and the Reactor Hybrid cover. I drilled mine with my trusty Symmetric Pin up and cg kicked a bit layout. I first threw it on a fresh 42ft THS on Brunswick Pro-Anvil using Kegel Current lane conditioner. I was really impressed with the mid lane read from this rock, you can really see the shape in my ball review video. It hit well and retained a strong motion to the pin deck. Where the other MatchUps were a bit weak when faced with some heavier volumes of oil, the hybrid was able to combat those situations. Where this ball really shines is on a later shift or a third game scenario. In league, when the track started to cook and my Intense was too much, I pulled out the MatchUp and was able to move back toward the track, regain the pocket and continue to strike. If you're looking for a ball for when the lanes are starting to burn up on you, go drill the MatchUp Hybrid! Great Price and Performance! Cheers to the Ladies and Gents in Utah! #stormnation

The MatchUps are Storm's newest releases in the Hot Performance line. We have the Reactor Cover in a solid polished and pearl variation, wrapped around the new Stinger 2.0 core. Both these balls do what one would expect in this price range, the pearl has some kick on the back and the solid has a bit different shape with the solid cover. I have too much ball speed and our center does not shy away from the conditioner on our lanes, with that said, I didn't get a good opportunity to use my MatchUp in competition. However, I had fun rolling it in practice and for the video I put out on YouTube. I've drilled a bunch for my customers and all were satisfied. Great colors, shelf appeal and excellent punch for your purse!!! If you have a big wheeler or someone with a bit lower ball speed, these are the rocks for them. Two more solid releases from Storm! #stormnation

The Parallax is the newest rock from Team Utah. Traction X7 Hybrid is the cover and that core is bananas....I drilled mine 50x4.5x35 and I was very happy with the ball reaction. It reminded me of the Intense from a few years ago, which I thought was an awesome release. The characteristics of R3S Pearl carried over to X7, I could be wrong but, it felt similar. The Parallax is a good balancing release from Storm, with all of the big cover balls that have come out lately, It's a nice return to some angle from a high end Asymm. I absolutely love this bowling ball. It flat out carries everything! I am slightly speed dominant and have lower than average axis rotation. Out of the box the Phaze II with Storms all new TX-16 cover was a monster, pure hook. We use a high viscosity oil in our bowling center, so the box finish was a tough match up to the pattern. Maybe on slicker oil the out of box would work great or less rotation/ higher ball speeds. I used a 4.5 inch pin under, 45 degree cg and a small/deep static hole on my VAL and wow....This ball hits hard! The "Velocity" block spins up effortlessly in the mid-lane and detonates in the pocket. I am a ball driller first and a bowler second, so I don't claim to be a pro on the lanes. With that in mind, my last four sets have been 705,708, 611(being honest, not a good night) and 774 with a 299....crazy. I'm telling you, go get this ball....you will not be disappointed. The PhysiX is the newest Premier releases from the team at Storm. First off, this weight block looks awesome, the crew spent a lot of time and effort to dial this one in. The numbers are 2.48 RG, 053 Total Diff and 017 Intermediate diff. That and the NRG Hybrid cover at 3000…..This ball just looked unique going down the lane, it is not often that a company gets a core/cover to match up this well. The overall shape of the PhysiX on the lane for me was a rounded but powerful arc. It was almost like a stronger Phaze II, if that’s possible. The pins stayed low on the deck and mixed well with my bad shots. I drilled one for my nephew who really twists it up and he could throw it anywhere and get it to recover very well. Keep an eye out for my review video on Fred J’s Pro-Shop channel on YouTube soon. Compared to the CodeX , the PhysiX is a few boards stronger overall with the CodeX a few more angular due to the R2S cover. I’ve written about how much I love the RAD series stuff and now with this new tech inside the PhysiX…I got my popcorn ready. #stormnation

So, where do I start? The ProMotion is really good…thanks for reading. Ok, maybe it’s not that simple but, it is a great ball. This is the third signature ball from Storm and Jason Belomnte following the Drive and Timeless. They stayed with a symmetric design once again with the Piston core shape, this block produces an RG of 2.52 and a diff of .049. Pairing Storm’s SPEC cover and the Piston core creates, by far, the most continuous motion that I can remember seeing on the lane. We released a ball review on our channel, Callahan’s Performance Bowling, with three testers, one traditional and two two handers and it is impressive watching ProMotion go down the lane and through the pins. It reminds me of a Phaze II as far as the shape with more roll on the back end. I think this release could find a home in anyone’s bag, I wouldn’t call it a bench mark due to the strength but, it has the predictable look that you want on a fresh block or league condition. Team Utah and Belmo at it again! Great ball, go get one. Thanks for reading

I drilled my RocketShip with my Snaplock, I normally like pearl shells over solids...I'm a sucker for the flip down lane, who isn't? I didn't think I would use it as much and I was wrong. The RocketShip is the first ball out of my bag on my league nights. I don't currently bowl on a sport condition, hopefully I'll get a few games on that soon and report back. As far as our THS at our center the RocketShip is one of the best benchmark balls I've seen lately. My good shots were pure rack rippers and my bad shots (I'm just a ball driller, so I make a bad shot from time to time) to the right came back smooth and predictable. Love this ball! I drilled a few for my customers and all the feed back was the same as mine. Go get one!!! #stormnation

The SonIQ is the latest Master Line release from Storm. It features the tried and true R2S pearl cover and a high density variation of the popular Centripetal core, with a 2.47 RG and a .047 diff, the SonIQ creates a ton of torque in the mid lane. I drilled mine with a 5 inch pin above my fingers with my cg kicked a bit right of my grip center...that's my go to layout considering my higher tilt and ball speed. I was very comfortable right away on our THS which is 42ft feet, 24 mils and walled up just right for everyone to be around the pocket. The SonIQ is a lot like the gold IQ but with a bit more control of the breakpoint, it does backend pretty hard but it offers more predictability in my opinion. My first night with it was fun, I could stay around ten and I had 3 to 5 boards of miss room right....bounce it off the gutter and watch the fireworks!!! The core hit very well and kept the pins down. I bowled on the USBC White 2 pattern in our state tourney, that shot is not hard by any means, but it has a bit more conditioner and some flatter ratio compared to a THS. I had to get more right, but I ended up bowling pretty well with the SonIQ. As long as I didn't miss too far right, the SonIQ had enough power to get back and slap some pins around. Since drilling this ball it has not left my bag, I loved the Marvel Pearl and the SonIQ rolls pretty close to it. I've drilled a bunch of them for my customers and it's got a few of them some new honor scores. Cheers to Chad and the gang for another fun ball to roll. #stormnation

I'll start by saying that this ball is not exactly in my wheel house. I'm not a superstar out on the lanes and i drill them better than I toss them. With that in mind it was a bit tough for me to match up on our house shot with the Streetfight. I roll it a bit fast with lower than average axis rotation, so I had to thread a needle to hit the pocket...We are going 45 feet with a high viscosity conditioner, this is not the ideal environment for this ball and me to be friends. I am certain on a different pattern and another set of hands this ball would be excellent. What is funny to me is that I've had a bunch of great games with it, but it's just not comfortable for ME to use. I've drilled a few for my customers and everyone had positive feedback. I'm curious to see how people respond to it during our Match Maker Event. Thanks for reading, until next time! #stormnation #bowlupastorm

This is my review of the Super SoniQ. We have the NRG Hybrid, a very popular cover and the Centripetal weight block, also quite popular. Let’s put them together and see how it goes. I can personally say, so far so good. I’ve been rolling this ball for two weeks in league and once in a tournament and I’m pretty happy with how it’s performing. I drilled it 4x3x4 which puts the pin low under my ring finger and the CG kicked hard to the right.

Normally I’m not a huge fan of pin under layouts but, I drilled two Crux Primes last month and shockingly the pin under variant has been my favorite. A possible change of heart for me I guess.

The Super SoniQ does not have a brand new shape on the lane, it doesn’t have more hook then other releases or do anything that we haven’t seen yet. But, It carries really well…I’m not sure if that is a product of the core/cover combination or something more sciencey that I could never wrap my head around…it just does. My strike percentage in the last two weeks is ridiculous and just for context, I am NOT a great bowler by any means. I have a saying in the shop, If I can strike with it, anyone can. That saying applies here…

This ball is very strong out of the box and it took a couple of games to get a bit of lane shine on it and since that happened, it seems to be more angular than before. Maybe something to keep in mind if you drill one up. I plan on releasing an update video on this ball and the CruxPrime in a few weeks. I’m curious to see how the SPEC cover holds up compared to the NRG

I’m not totally sure where I have the Super SoniQ stacked in my own arsenal yet. It reminds of the Drive and obviously the Hyroad Nano but, with a considerable difference in core strength between the Hyroad Nano and Super SoniQ you could get away with having both in your bag. The Phaze II also comes to mind but, I love that ball and it’ll take something incredible to dethrone the king of symmetrics…in my opinion. So, that’s what I got. A bit more time on the lanes should clear things up for me.

Why should you drill a Super SoniQ? One good reason is, if you need to replace your current big motor, solid symmetrical ball with a ton of games on it or maybe you have faster ball speed and need something to dig in and slow you down or you have a bunch money burning a hole in your pocket and you love Storm and you want spend it. Those are all good reasons, you pick the one that makes sense.

The Storm SureLock was the Premier Line March release which featured the GI-17 Solid Reactive cover and the Rad-X Core. I'm a huge fan of the SnapLock, so when I heard about the solid release, I was stoked. I'm speed dominant with lower than average tilt and solid covers tend to burn up on me. I used a big drilling angle and a high rg pin out to get the ball some help down lane. At first I wasn't too happy with the look from the SureLock...It was too smooth and did not hit very hard. I didn't give up on it and I'm happy about that choice because, after three or so games, with a bit of glaze on the cover...bang! It's like it came to life! I tossed a 289 the first game in league, left a weak ten, operator error, finished with a decent seven set. Next time out I rolled a clean 720 with a few corner pins sprinkled in...just so you know, I'm a ball driller and I've never claimed to be a super star on the lanes. This rock makes me look pretty darn good! I highly suggest drilling one up, it suits more speed dominant players and heavier volume patterns. Beware of the cover strength, she really hooks a bunch out of the box. All in all another solid release from Team Utah!!! #stormnation

The hype was real about this release, good and bad, I suppose. The new weight block design and the proven R2S cover was a match that was anticipated greatly. I drilled mine with a typical pin up symmetric look, it was super easy up front and read the friction hard on the back. I am slightly speed dominant and have low axis tilt, so getting a good read with equipment is tough. My first practice games with the Timeless were exciting, stringing strikes and tossing pins....My league night didn't go so well. The ball, in my opinion, is very friction sensitive, I know, bowling balls are supposed to be that way. It's at a new level with the timeless, I couldn't get into a comfortable spot with this ball. Now, I am in no way a super star on the lanes, I'm the pro shop guy just having fun. I had no room at all during my league set, hit the dry a bit quick...nose, tug it in a bit...wash out. It was very demanding to hit the pocket, we do have a 45 foot house shot on Utopia oil which is pretty slick, so.....I have drilled other Timeless balls for my customers and most of them are very satisfied. Maybe it's just me, haha. Honestly, I have only used it a few games since the first night and I am planning on getting a few more reps with it soon. Let me know what you think. #stormnation

The Torrent is a must have ball in your bag! When I saw the specs on this gal, I had a feeling it would be awesome. The R2S solid cover and the high volume symmetrical block are a match made in heaven. The Torrent blends out the most wet dry conditions and still has enough energy to kick out the corner pins. Being released with the Timeless was not going to help this ball, it was the less sexy pick of the two, but once I got a few out on the lanes....people loved it. This should be the first ball you grab after you lace up your shoes. It reminds of the RocketShip, maybe a bit smoother overall and a foot or so earlier. If you need to upgrade your go-to, bench-mark ball, this is the one drill folks....the Torrent will not let you down. Prepare for the flood! #stormnation

The Trend is the latest release from Storm in collaboration with Jason Belmonte. From personal experience bowling with and drilling past Belmo Branded equipment, I've seen first hand some love it or leave it responses. The Trend however is going to be the crowd pleaser! The Piston block wrapped up in probably the best Pearl cover our industry has seen will be a hit. I drilled mine with a 4.75 pin above my ring with my cg 1.5 outside of my gc. The down lane reaction was outstanding, the Piston spun up with ease and R2S retained energy and popped off of the pattern. I can see this ball hanging around for awhile in the shops and I'm excited to drill these for my customers. Another banger from Team Utah #stormnation
