I really like this microfiber towel. I bought 2 of them so that I could use one while the other is being washed. I have washed/dried each towel at least 10 times and no deterioration. This towel has more absorption and surface gripping properties than the old bath towels I was using. I even compared it to the \\\"ShamWow\\\" towel -- ShamWow has no traction and just glides over ball, plus ShamWow is not machine dryable. The microfiber towel gets the grit, dirt and oil off of the towel. The towel size is just right and the BowingBall.com logo looks good.

I have purchased several brand name shoe covers before and they only seemed to last a few weeks before I would get holes in them. This was primarily due to the fact the largest size they had (XXL) was never large enough and the sole would not cover my size 13 Dexter shoes. I bought these BowlingBall.com shoe covers because they were about $5.00 cheaper than the brand name versions, but was surprised that they actually fit my size 13 shoe. Not only do they fit, they are very good quality -- I am impressed. I wished BowlingBall.com had these years ago.

This is an outstanding service and few pro-shops offer it. In fact I could not find a local pro-shop in a 100 mile area that makes custom thumb slugs.
For years I have had thumb pain when I bowl. I have been to 6 different local ball drillers before I found one that correctly fitted my grip. I have unusual pitches and the angle I release my thumb require some custom work on the thumb hole. After I got the first ball correctly fitted I went back to this driller and had him plug and re-drill my other balls – only to find out that the holes were not the same. The pitches and angles varied by as much as 1/4 pitch (left – right) and 1/8 pitch (forward – reverse) and of course the custom work in the area of the thumb hole where my thumb would stick was not done at all.
Solution, I sent in all my bowling balls (7 of them) to BowlingBall.com and had them make a custom thumb mold of the best fitting ball. Then BowlingBall.com made custom thumb slugs and installed them in all the balls I sent in. Now all my bowling balls have the same thumb pitches and custom work. I know I could have just sent in the one bowling ball had the custom mold made and then have the custom thumb slugs made and had the local driller install the custom slugs, but I have had so many problems dealing with the local guys, I just sent in all my bowling balls and let the pros handle it. I actually got a very good shipping rate using BowingBall.com pre-paid shipping labels.
Bottom Line:
Great service, Great Job – solved my problem – thumb holes have the same feel now.

I use the 1 inch wide white tape with textured surface. I put this under my thumb (in the ball) so I don't have to use a death grip to hold on to the ball. It also makes the hole slightly smaller and gives a snug feel. At times I have had to remove the tape on those days when my thumb is hanging up and there is no residue in the ball. The tape stays put in the ball, but when you remove it there is nothing to worry about - the thumb slides out, no problems.

Brunswick (neo-tac) Hook-It is the strongest ball cleaner I have used. I have used it many years along with other cleaners and polishes -- nothing comes close to how well Hook-IT removes all the oil, crime, belt marks from a ball. Depending on lane conditions I have noticed a 2 to 5 board increase in hook because the surface of the ball is cleaner and able to grab the wood better. The product does have a strong smell and be careful where you place your cleaning cloth (I set mine on top of my washing machine and it took the enamel paint off). Hook-IT is a red liquid that tends to change the color of the white lettering on the ball to pink, however Brunswick Rough Buff or any polish with grit in it will bring everything back to original color. I use so much of it I buy it by the quart.

Finally a bowling ball for the rest of us. Ever notice how the vast majority of bowing balls are designed for the “power-player”? A “cranker” dude who throws the ball with 300 to 500 RPMs at 20 MPH. Ever see a ball demo video that wasn’t thrown by a cranker from the left side of the lane to the right side with a huge banana hook back to the pocket? Ever notice that most of the ball description state “increased length” so that a high rev player’s hook will not start until the backend of the lane. Well, the MaxXX Zone is for those of us who have trouble making the ball hook enough. This ball can be thrown by a low rev stroker with a down and in shot and get a good hook reaction. Right out of the box a low rev, high speed or combination of low rev and high speed player that normally has trouble getting the ball to hook will get a good reaction. The ball will start hooking early in mid-lane with it 660 girt surface and continue through the backend with great pin reaction. Power-players are the ones that would have to do surface work to reduce the hooking ability of the ball or increase length. It seems that most balls are designed to skid to the backend (while spinning like a car tire on ice) then flip direction once dry wood is reached -- all well and good for the power-players, but for the average Joe out there a ball that grips the lane early and start hooking ASAP is a thing of beauty. It is getting very hard to find a ball like this and I hope more will discover the MaxXX Zone. I have bowled over 40 games with it and yes, it does hook.

The Brunswick PowerKoil wrist brace is first rate, a solid design and build. The brace allows user to adjust wrist in 2 directions (both forward / backward & left / right). The forward / backward direction controls ball roll and the left / right direction controls axis spin. The forward / backward thumb-screw and bolt are spring loaded so that I can instantly un-cup my wrist and allow my wrist to free-float from cupped to straight wrist. This allows me to shoot spares without removing the brace. When I "lock" the device on the thumb-screw my wrist is cupped to throw my strike ball, then simply pop the spring loaded device off the thumb-screw and the wrist is free to shoot spares (only goes back as far as straight wrist position). I throw a plastic spare ball with a straight wrist position so this works perfect for me. Only down side is that my fingers need to get stronger to use this device. I now hook about 5 more boards, but I can feel it in my fingers.

All the pros use plastic balls to shoot spares. Plastic balls have very low friction and should not hook. I bought this ball to shoot spares by throwing the ball right at pin. I do not have a big hook with my “strike-ball” (8 to 10 boards), but it is enough to make it hard to pick-up a spare. Right out of the box this Tzone ball had more hook than my “strike-ball”. The plastic / polyester cover-stock had more friction than my Strom Secret Agent. Using my BowlingBall.com Micro-Fiber towel was a task to spin the ball to wipe it down because the surface friction was so strong. After many games it became clear that I would have to put a high polish shine on this plastic ball to get rid of the friction. I bought the polish – hand polished it and buffed it out – no more friction. The ball goes straight. Not mentioned in ball description is that the ball also has a glow in black-light for those night when the bowling alley is set-up with weird lighting.

As the old cliché goes "I needed another bowling ball, like I needed another hole in the head" Nevertheless, I decided to buy a 14 pound ball to experiment with. I have been using 15 & 16 pound balls for years. I am a low rev (250 rpm) stroker (down & in, throw 16 to 19 mph range) I never have enough hook particularly in tournaments -- so I just had to have the highest rated hooking ball on the BowlingBall.com perfect scale (DV8 Endless Nightmare).

I had BB.com drill my ball using dual angle layout of 38 x 3 5/8 x 25 -- (PAP 5 1/16 x + 3/4). This layout is pretty much max hook (fast rev-up, early midlane roll, fast reacting backend). Yep, this ball hooks. I can still throw down and in, but I have to throw straight down the 8 board instead of the 5 board. This is my highest hooking ball, but it is not that much different than some of my top rated hooking balls. Even though I have it drilled for early midlane roll is skids all the way to the backend and then makes the left turn to the pocket. I am using the OOB surface. THS is 43 feet long with plenty of oil for the crankers who bowl here. Moving 3 boards left creates a track of much more oil to travel trough and why it skids to the backend.

My biggest problem was learning how to throw a 14 pound ball. The lighter weight took a few weeks to figure out how to release it (I should have got the 15 pound ball). I also have the DV8 Hell Raiser Revenge both are great balls.

The real test will be this winter when the lanes get very cold and coefficient of friction drops -- that is when it gets hard to hook a ball -- right now in the summer heat when the wood is warm this ball is amazing. DV8 has definitely got another strong hooking ball that I will be using all season.

This is the stuff you want on your ball if it is over-hooking or you want increased length before your ball starts to hook. In addition to successfully reducing an over-hooking partial/reactive resin ball, I use this on plastic balls to make them go straight. It is frustrating to buy a plastic ball to shoot straight at spares only to have the plastic ball hook 3 boards -- I use delayed reaction on plastic balls and they go straight as an arrow. This is a great product for those who need to reduce a hook. One 5 once bottle has lasted me hundreds of games (not a lot is required to coat the ball surface).

On the positive side this tape does work and I was able to get a better finger hold and slightly increase my revolutions. The negative side -- unlike thumb tape (which is easy to put in and remove) this tape is a flimsy rubber type tape that is so thin you cannot insert it into a hole without it folding over on itself. Inserting this into finger holes (which are a lot smaller than a thumb hole) is a task. It took me over an hour and several pieces of wasted tape before I was able to get the tape in the correct position. The residue from the tape will be all over the finger area once you get the tape in position -- so you have to clean that up and then you good to bowl.
If you remove this tape from you finger holes you have a lot of sticky residue to clean up. In my opinion this product was meant to be more long term use because it is so hard to put in and so messy to clean if you remove it.

All the pros use plastic balls to shoot spares. I was looking for a ball right out of the box that would go straight as an arrow to shoot spares by throwing the ball directly at the pin. Plastic balls have low friction, do not grip the lane well, and should not hook. However, all plastic balls are not equal and some have enough surface friction that will allow the ball to hook. After watching a NCAA tournament on ESPN where the entire team used the Black Widow Clear (for spares) and other matches where a pro used the Black Widow Clear I decided to buy this ball. This is a great spare ball and goes right where you throw it (straight). I have used it many games and it is wonderful to pick up spares that I used to hook on by. The ball gets a lot of attention by others due to the black widow in the web image in the ball. Some may buy it simply for the way it looks, but this ball is a proven performer and a serious spare ball.

I bought this because I need a ball to go long for dry lanes. All my other equipment is set for max hook. The price of this ball (on sale) is incredible so how can you go wrong. I had BowlingBall.Com drill this for length and mild backend. After I received this ball I polished it with Storm Xtra Shine to a high gloss and then hit the lanes with my Max Hook ball and this Frenzy. What I found was that I got the same Max Hook out of both balls even though the were set up very different (Max Hook had pin below fingers -- Frenzy has pin above fingers and much weaker angles for the Pin-cg-PAP relations). I am amazed at how strong this ball is even though it was set up to be "weak". I have bowled over 20 games with it and it is becoming my favorite ball. I consistently have higher scores and can get to the pocket from multiple angles. The ball drives right though the pins and hits like a ton. Although I still need a ball to go long for dry lanes, I like this ball. Bottom line: Frenzy is a very strong hooking ball that has a strong backend and continues to drive through the pins creating a great mixing with pins flying everywhere.

This is a great ball! -- I was looking for a high performance ball that was on sale so that I could experiment with my grip (change span and thumb pitch angle). The Morich LevRG Response just happened to on sale at the right time so I had BowlingBall.com drill me a new grip on this ball. I have only bowled about 15 games with the ball, but it is excellent. The ball hooks a few boards less than my Storm Invasion (3-5 boards less), but for some reason when this ball hits the pocket – it is 10 in the pit. This ball hits with and audible explosion that has people looking at my lane. I have had many games over 200 (266 highest) with this ball to date. I am now using this ball when my Invasion starts to over-hook, when the lanes start to dry out. I was really surprised at how good this ball is – it hits hard and has fantastic pin reaction. I had it drilled for the EZ rev core layout 2 (midlane hook, medium track – PAP 4 1/4 x 1 1/8). I roll up the 7 board and it has a great 10 -11 board hook right into the pocket. At the sale price I got this for – I am very happy.

Is there a better 4 ball roller out there? Probably not-- but that doesn't mean this one does not have some problems. First what I like -- it is very sturdy. The bottom 2 ball carrier is molded plastic and the balls fit tight -- no bouncing around. The top and bottom carriers fit together easy and disconnect easy -- just one clip and you can disconnect the top 2 balls from the bottom and pack both halves in you car. AND, you will need to separate these halves constantly unless you are some muscle man who can lift and turn with 70 pound in your hands. The top half (2 ball carrier) has a molded plastic bottom so it can fit easily on to the bottom half. The inside of the top half also has molded plastic ball pads that hold the balls tight. The shoe holder (top part of the top half) has a lot of room. My size 13 Dexters fit easily. Now for what I don't like. That "easy access" bottom half --- well, just put stuff in the front pocket -- I have a roll of tape, Kleenex, deck of card, score sheets, rosin bag, scissors, extra soles for my shoes, etc. All the pockets on my 4 ball roller are puffed out about 2 inches -- so when you unzip that "easy access" bottom half to get to the 2 bottom balls -- not so easy -- the puffed out pockets prevent the access panel from laying flat and with the balls held tight in molded plastic, removing the balls become a task (unless you have the top half disconnected and tip the carrier on its back). The collapsible handle that you pull up and lock into place has the release trigger where you pull so you are constantly pulling the release trigger as you pull you 4 ball roller (how long before it will not lock or the spring will wear out??) The handle does not lock in the down position. The 3 wheels are a good feature but the rod that runs through them is about an inch to long so the side wheels slide in an out 1/2 inch. No problems so far but this could lead to snow & ice getting stuck between the bag and wheels. It almost seems like they were going to put wider wheels on and then switch to these wheels that are narrower.
Overall this is a very good piece of equipment that I can reccomend but for the price I was looking for perfection.

Crown-Clear is the BEST "spare-ball" I have ever used (so far). I have had the Target-Zone, and Black-Widow-Clear. But as time goes on bowling equipment put some nasty scratches and huge gouge in my old "spare-balls" that forced me into buying The Crown-Clear. The Crown-Clear has the hardest shell (durometer = 82), very high RG (radius of gyration = 2.70) will not roll early so maintaining straightness, and low RG Diff (DIFF = 0.015) for low flare, low hook potential. Bottom-Line = this ball goes straight as an arrow ===> it goes where you throw it.

I have an area on my thumb that actually gets bloody and calloused when I bowl. I have found that by covering it with Thunder Tape the problem goes away (although I still have a callous). In the past I have use many different tapes (adhesive tape, duct tape, silk tape, etc.) and liquid skin type products, but Thunder Tape has given the best result in protecting the thumb. The tape is thicker and has a "crushed velvet" type feel on the outside of the tape so it slides out of thumb-hole easily. I use Thunder Tape everytime I bowl.

I bought this to use as a plastic spare ball, so I had BowlingBall.com drill it to go straight as an arrow. PIN and CG are in the same place (center of mid-line). I roll spare balls "end over end" so PAP does not matter. It should be noted that this ball does have a weight block (unlike many plastic ball) and can be set up to hook a little if you wanted. This is the third plastic spare ball I have bought and it is a winner. It slides like ICE down the lane, straight as an arrow. I have used spare balls that have hooked at the last second and missed the target especially on dry lanes. The Storm Blue Ice lives up to it name and has the lowest friction cover I have used. It also has the hardest cover-stock / shell of any ball I have looked up on BowlingBall.com. The first time I used this ball I was just testing it to see how straight it would roll from a variety of different angles -- so I bowled the entire game with it. I end up with a 196. Amazing for a plastic spare ball only thrown straight at the pocket and straight at spares. This ball hits like a ton of bricks and has pins flying everywhere. It is a great for shooting spares, but it could also be a great ball for those that throw straight at the pocket.

I am a low Rev bowler (approx 200 RPM) so getting a ball to hook has always been a problem. I have found success with balls that have low RG (radius of gyration), high RG DIFF, and cover-stock surface below 1000 grit. The low RG allows the ball to roll early in mid-lane (instead of skidding) so the Rev’s have more time to grab, the high Diff allows max hook once the ball hits dry wood, and the cover-stock surface below 1000 grit provide max friction for gripping the lane and driving through the pins. It is very hard to find bowling balls with these specifications, but when my Ultimate Inferno died and nothing would revive it – I started a multi-day research for a replacement and the Storm Invasion was my choice. The Invasion has very low RG and high DIFF, but out of the box the surface is 4000 grit – I figure that if it went long I could resurface. I had BowlingBall.com drill the ball for max hook (PAP 4 x +1) and was surprised at how that looked (PIN above ring finger) compared to my other bowling balls. However, it works perfect. The Invasion has the most hook of any ball I have thrown (even with the 4000 grit surface). This ball keeps driving through the pins like nothing I have ever seen before. Needless to say it hits the pins harder and has the strongest backend I have encountered. The new cover-stock looks like a “pearlized” cover (shiny & smooth) compared to the heavy sanded dull balls I usually throw, However, this ball grips the lane better than my dull balls with 500 grit. I have thrown about 30 games and very impressed with this ball – my average is going up. I hope they keep the ball around for a long time so when I need a replacement it will be available.

This is an unusual ball in today's world of high performance cover-stock. I bought the Storm Natural for when the lanes dry out and my reactive-resin cover-stock bowling balls over-hook. I had this drilled for max hook (like all of my bowling-balls) knowing that urethane will not hook as much as any of the newer technology balls. The theory of not hooking as much worked perfect and I was able to switch balls and use the same aiming point when the lanes are dry. However, what I forgot to figure out was that urethane not gripping the lanes like reactive-resin (so less hook) also does not drive through the pins like reactive-resin. I was not getting the pins to mix and I just was frustrated with the ball until about 15th game. I switched to a much straighter angle. Normally I shoot down the 5 board and let it hook into the pocket, but with urethane this would not produce a good pin reaction. By shooting down the 13 board and hitting the pocket much straighter I got the pins to fly all over the place. I shot a 258 that game and found this was the best approach for me. Be prepared to do some experimenting before you find out how to throw this ball.

Bought the SECRET AGENT on sale, looking for a strong hooking ball (hook score of 196). I am a low to medium rev bowler, but throw the ball at 19 mph. This means that I have few hook revolutions because of the speed the ball is traveling. I wanted a ball that would hook ASAP and hook a lot. Right out of the box the ball surface is 4000 grit and provided me very little hook (about 3 boards). After many games I had the ball plugged and re-drilled for a max hook based on exact PAP on this ball. No change, only a 3 board hook. Using 1500 girt ball polish, I polished this ball 5 times over a series of many games still no change. I finally used 220 grit sandpaper and resurfaced this ball – I now have a 10 board hook. Now it has so much surface friction that it is picking up oil off the lanes like a magnet. I have to wipe the ball after each throw with my BowlingBall.com microfiber towel. Secret Agent has always had great pin reaction and pin carry I have even got a strike without even hitting the head pin (totally missed the pocket). Bottom line you might have to resurface to get a hook if you are a low rev / high speed bowler.

I got the Storm Sync from a friend who went to a demo, but I usually buy from this website. It was a challenge to get a layout I could use. I am a low Rev “stroker” (about 250 RPM) and throw in the 16 to 19 MPH range. The typical house shot (THS) that I bowl on has a long pattern 43 feet due to all the “crankers” that need lots of oil. I never have enough hook and on some days, I have no hook at all. Using the Storm drilling system a 4 x 4 x 1 was the best match. However, when I laid this out the PIN ended up 3+ inchers above the fingers – so I went with the 4 x 4 x 2 layout (PIN 3/4 inch above fingers). In dual angle terms this equates out to a 38° x 4” x 32° -- to get the PIN below the fingers (early revs) requires a large VAL angle and large angles = late revs – so stuck with the PIN up and small angles. In a house with a short backend and pushdown, large angles do not work for low rev guys.
Right out of the box I could tell the NRG cover was something special. I think NRG should stand for Nano Rugged Grip because it grabs the wood much better than any ball I have thrown to date. The feel of the NRG cover is noticeably different (more friction) I just hope the cover lasts a long time. I have used the ball now 2 days and 22 games. In today’s vernacular my impressions is “OMG” this ball out hooks every ball I have ever used. To get my other bowling balls to “finish” and not “roll-out” I have had to put a lot of surface on them 360 grit (abralon pad) or lower. After the SYNC was drilled I took the surface down to 2,000 grit knowing that I am low rev. The SYNC at 2,000 out hooks some of the top rated balls at 360 grit and lower. The SYNC is amazing. In 2 days of league play I threw a 664 and next day a 683. I even threw a 289 – hit the first 10 – then left the 10 pin (went high). Everyone who knows my usual track was amazed how much this ball hooks and even more impressive is how it hits. The way the pins fly and mix is a thing to behold.
Even though I have small angles for the layout of this ball it clears the mid-lane easily then at the backend the ball turns on the blinker and makes a big left turn into the pocket. Going through the head and mid lane the ball barely looks like it has any revs on it at all (skid), then at the backend it suddenly switches on and that nano-cover does it magic as it grabs the wood – the revs appear and the ball makes the left turn and explodes the rack. I am very impressed with this ball.

This is a very thin flexible pre-cut vinyl tape that is tacky to a bowling ball surface, but is not sticky to the touch. This tape helps my fingers hold on to the ball and not drop off my hand early. I have tried "Grip crèmes", but they are sticky and wipe off on everything. This tape works very well for me and prevents callouses that I used to develop. Only bad thing is this tape is a bit expensive. -- Turbo needs to have some sort of bulk discount package.
