The Roto Grip All out Show off is Roto Grips newest HP2 line release. The All out is hybrid version of the original Show off. The All Out contains the Hotshot core like the Show Off and is covered with the Stoked Hybrid Coverstock. The ball is factory finished at 1500 grit polished which gives the ball length and stronger reaction off the break point. I drilled mine pin down with the pin placed below by bridge. I drilled it stacked with the mass bias below the pin. This is my favorite layout for pin downs because it gives me control. The ball rolls really well. The pin down gave the All out more arc in the backend but it still has a real strong movement off the break point. The ball hooks more than you would think for being a HP2 line ball but still is weaker compared to the likes of the Dare Devil, Hywire, or Dare Devil Danger.
The All Out is a great ball for learning bowlers or bowlers who are looking for a low end reactive for drier lanes. It’s also a perfect fit for bowlers looking for length and good pop on the backend.

The Roto Grip Dare Devil is Roto Grips newest HP3 line release. The Dare Devil contains the Madcap core. The balls is covered with the Amped Coverstock and is finished at 1500 grit polished.
I drilled my Dare Devil with the pin above my ring finger with the CG kicked out to the right of my pin with a weight hole directly on my axis. I wanted medium to medium strong reaction with a smooth backend. I wanted a ball that was different from what I already had. This is a new layout for me as well. The ball reads the mid lane real well and has a strong yet controllable reaction in the backend. For me Dare Devil is a bit stronger than the Roto Grip Hywire. But I think they are quite similar in motion. This ball has worked great for me on the 2012 US Open pattern as well as house shots ect. I can’t wait to throw it in my first tournament.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who is looking for a strong mid priced ball. This ball packs a lot of punch for the middle range. The polished cover along with the pearl coverstock gives the ball plenty of length and snap in the backend. The Dare Devil could be used as a bench mark ball or a ball that is used on medium oiled sport patterns when you need some pop in the back.

The Roto Grip Dare Devil Danger is Roto Grips newest HP3 line release. The Danger is the Hybrid version of the Dare Devil and Dare Devil Tricked. The Danger contains the Madcap Core and is covered with the Psyched Coverstock. The Danger is factory finished at 1500 grit polish which give the Danger a real aggressive move down lane. The Danger just flat out hooks. I drilled mine stronger than my original Dare Devil and similar to my Tricked. It’s a great compliment to the Tricked because it is much longer and stronger where the Tricked was sooner and smoother. What I like the most so far is the Danger hooks from different angles. I’m not afraid to move in with this ball because it reads the mid lane real well which still gives the ball plenty of hitting power to carry corner pins. I think the Danger is great for medium to longer oil patterns. I think it’s a great step down from a stronger solid like the Tricked or No Rules. It’s a great bench mark ball for the normal league bowler and if you don’t have quite as much hand as others the ball will really help you out.

Likes: Very smooth reaction and very predictable. Hitting power is strong for a weaker ball, ball is a little stronger overall for that line of balls
Dislikes:none

The Roto Grip Devour is Roto Grips newest HP2 release. The ball is a solid reactive ball. Overall the ball is much stronger than one would think coming from the HP2 line. The ball is very smooth. I drilled mine with a 60x5x25 layout. For me it’s a stacked layout which gives the ball a lot of length and a smoother backend reaction. This is one of my favorite layouts and it matched the ball real well. The ball is smooth through the fronts which is nice for a solid. The ball also has a nice readable reaction down lane. The Devour also recovers well when missing my target to the right. It’s a very versatile ball overall.

I recommend this ball to any league bowler because of its versatility on house shots. It is considered a weaker ball compared to the HP3 and HP4 lines so it allows a bowler to start further right on fresh and gradually move left when the lanes break down. It has a smooth reaction and it doesn’t lose its hitting power when you have to move further inside on the broken down lanes.

Likes: Smooth even reaction, great midlane roll and continuation through the pins.
Dislikes: none
The Roto Grip Eternal Cell is the newest Cell release. It contains the Nucleus Core just like the other Cells in the line. Its covered with the 75M Polished Solid cover and is finished with 1500 grit abralon.
I was very excited for the Eternal Cell. I really liked the clean and smooth motion of the Hyper Cell Skid and the polished solid cover is my favorite combination. I drilled mine with 25 x 5 3/8 x 17 with a weight hole on my PAP. I wanted mine to roll a bit sooner and be smoother than my skid and that is exactly what I got. The ball reads the mid lane very well and still hits the pocket real hard.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for that smooth reaction yet strong reaction off the breakpoint. This ball gives you the best of both worlds. This ball is great for medium to heavy oil and the combination of solid and polished cover gives it a good look on a lot of medium length patterns with heavier volumes.

The Roto Grip Halo is Roto Grips newest HP4 release. The Halo contains the Centrum Asymmetrical Core. The Halo is covered with the MicroTrax-S18 cover stock and is finished at 2000 grit matte.

I drilled my Halo with my favorite and most used layout. The pin is to the right of my ring finger giving me a 3.5 inch pin to pap distance with the CG stacked below the pin. The Halo is an amazing ball. The Halo makes my misses look great. It is a very strong ball that recovers well when I miss right. The balls overall reactivity is very similar to the Roto Grip No Rules. The biggest difference for me is how well the Halo gets through the heads where for me the No Rules really wanted to roll early and flare out if the lanes didn’t have enough oil on them. For myself, the Halo is the most versatile High end solid I’ve ever thrown. I can play straighter with it on heavy volumes and can get inside and really trust the ball to make the corner while still have energy left to carry the pins. The cover stock is strong and if you hit up on it early or get soft the ball will over react. I recommend the Halo for heavy volume patterns whether its sport of house shot. I feel like you can adjust the layout or cover to fit what you are looking for but the Halo is great for starting on fresh and then switching to a pearl to keep going.

The Roto Grip Halo Pearl is Roto Grips newest HP4 line release. The Halo Pearl Contains the Centrum Core which is very popular and is also found in the original Halo. The Halo Pearl is covered with the new eTrax-P18 pearl Reactive which is also found on the Idol Pearl. Finally the ball is factory finished at 1500 grit polished.
I drilled my Halo Pearl with the same layout as my original Halo. The pin is over my ring finger with the CG straight below my pin. This gives me a real high flare ball reaction. The Pearl is very strong down lane compared to the smoother rolling Halo Solid. I have found most of my success with the Halo Pearl on medium length patterns where there is plenty of dry in the back end part of the lane. The Halo Pearl also reacted pretty well on a longer pattern with a lower amount of oil volume as well. For me the Halo Pearl did not react very well to lane carry down which made it kind of over under and real inconsistent off the break point. But on wood lanes where oil just gets moved or removed and I get clean back ends the Halo is an awesome powerfully hitting bowling ball. It’s a great compliment to the original Halo.

COMMENTS

Likes: Very strong through the pocket. Ball recovers well from the outside. The shape of the reaction is easy is too read

Dislikes:none

The Haywire is Roto Grips newest HP3 Line release. The ball is factory finished at 2000. The ball is wrapped by the 80H Microbite coverstock which is found on Roto Grips Hyper Cell. The core is the Middle Roll 70 which is found in the Disturbed. This combination makes the Haywire a Hook Monster.

I drilled my Haywire with a 60x5x65 layout. I wanted a pin down layout to help get the ball roll a bit earlier and read the midlane sooner for heavier oil pattern. The combination of ball and my layout is exactly what I was looking for. The ball rolls great in the mid lane and is still very strong in the backend creating a lot of room for error. I can miss right and have the ball hold and as well as miss right and be confident that the ball will recover.
I would recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong ball for a great price. This ball will be great for the lower rev players who need a little extra ball strength to create some hook. This ball will also be great for more experienced bowlers looking for a ball for longer oil patterns and heavier volume patterns.

COMMENTS

Likes: Real clean and smooth motion. Has overall strong reaction for the money, and is versatile from many different lane angles

Dislikes: none
The Roto Grip Hectic is the newest release in Roto Grips HP2 line. Like its big brother the Devour. The Hectic boasts the Late Role 56 Core and is covered with the 50ML Pearl cover stock that is finished with 1500 grit polished.
The Hectic is the pearl version of the Roto Grip Devour. Together these two pack one heck of a one-two punch. Much like the Devour, the Hectic is smooth, versatile, and strong. I drilled mine with a 60x5x25 layout. I drilled both my Devour and Hectic the same to give myself a great 1-2 punch. The Hectic is a bit longer and a little stronger off the breakpoint compared to the Devour. The ball is great for medium oil conditions. It could also be good for drier lanes if you put a weaker low flare layout on it.
I would recommend this ball as a great benchmark ball. The Hectic looks great anywhere from 1st arrow to 3rd arrow. I would recommend it especially for low and medium volume house oil patterns. I would also recommend it for late games during a tournament on broken down sport shots.

The Roto Grip Hot Cell is Roto Grips new Urethane ball. The Hot Cell is in the HP4 line and contains the Nucleus core which was found in the Cell Line. The ball is finished at 1000 with a Urethane Cover. This ball for me is very different from other balls that I’ve drilled. I drilled mine with pin above the bridge and mass bias to the right of my thumb. This ball for a urethane hooks quite a bit and hits real hard thanks to the very strong core. The urethane still allowed me to stay straighter on broken down and shorter patterns but it still has the hook potential to recover if you miss right or left. Unlike most Urethanes I’ve thrown, the Hot cell can handle oil patterns ranging from light oil to medium heavy. It all depends on what angle you want to play. The Hot Cell gives you an array of options and is a must have in everyone’s ball bag.

The Roto Grip Hustle PRO is the sister to the Hustle SAY in Roto Grips HP1 line. The PRO is covered with the 1500 grit Hybrid Cover called the Stoked. The new Stoked Cover is 2 parts solid and 1 part pearl which is the opposite of the Hustle Say. This gives the ball a much smoother reaction. The PRO also boasts the new Hustle Core.
I drilled my Hustle Pro with a 45x5x60 layout. This gave me a nice pin below the ring finger layout which gets the ball into a roll earlier compared to my Hustle Say. I wanted to try something like that on a weaker ball to see how it would handle on walled up house shots. Because of the 2 part solid in the cover, the PRO handles oil better than the Say. The pin down layout makes the ball roll in the mid lane earlier which allows the ball to handle the extreme walled house shot better. The ball is also strong enough to recover on the lane when I miss right. It’s a pretty good compliment to the Hustle Say but alone it is also great.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a good solid beginner ball who wants to learn how to hook the ball. The balls overall strength allows a bowler to grow with the ball. I also recommend it for dry to medium lanes where there might be a little more oil that the Hustle SAY can’t handle. Together they make a great 1.2 punch.

The Roto Grip Hustle SAY is one of Roto Grips newest HP1 releases. This ball is covered with a 1500 grit polished hybrid coverstock called Psyched. The cover wraps around the Hustle Core. The Pysched Coverstock is made up of 2 parts pearl and 1 part solid which gives the ball a little longer length and cleaner through the fronts.
I drilled mine with a 70x3x45 layout. I wanted to make this ball go longer with a medium reaction off the breakpoint. My intention with this ball was to make usable for heavy breakdown for tournaments and for fresh shorter patterns like Cheetah. I like how this ball is really clean through the fronts with a strong yet controllable backend reaction. Even with the weaker layout for me the ball still has a good amount of hook and it doesn’t lose its hitting power when you move inside on the lanes.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a good solid beginner ball who wants to learn how to hook the ball. The balls overall strength allows a bowler to grow with the ball. I also recommend it as a great ball for drier lanes that are either short patterns or broken down tournament shots.

The Roto Grip Hyper Cell Fuzed is Roto Grips newest HP4 Line release. The Fuzed boasts the Nucleus Core and surrounded with the eTrax H18 Hybrid Coverstock and finished at 1500 grit polished. I drilled mine with the pin 4in from Pap which puts it right above my ring finger. This is my favorite layout which gives me a controlled move off the break point but with good overall reaction. The Fuzed has quickly become a favorite in my bag. For me it’s a complete mix of the Eternal Cell and the Hyper Cell Skid. The fuzed has the length and backend reaction of the Skid and the overall controlled smooth shape down lane like the Eternal. I can play anywhere from second arrow to 5th arrow and the ball has enough giddy up to still hit the pocket hard from such extreme angles. The Fuzed is a definite must have.

The Hyper Cell Skid is Roto Grips newest HP4 Line Pearl Ball. It is the pearl compliment to the Hyper Cell. The Box finish is 1500 grit polished which gives it a nice clean look through the fronts and mids and a very strong finish down lane.

I drilled my Hyper Cell Skid with a 50x5x34 layout. My ball speed is about 15.5mph and my rev rate is about 350. My goal with this ball was to find a strong pearl that I could play the inside part of the lane and have the ball not die out. I can honestly say I succeeded. The Hyper Cell Skid gets through the front part of the lane real clean and it conserves so much energy that the backend reaction is ridiculous. Depending on the volume and length of the pattern, this will be a great ball from all angles on the lane. I have thrown it anywhere from second arrow to 5th arrow and the hitting power is strong. I have thrown a Roto Grip Deranged and a Storm Optimus and this is by far the best reacting ball of the three from inside third arrow and beyond. I would recommend this ball for any style of bowler for medium heavy to heavy oil lane conditions.

The Roto Grip Hywire is the newest release in Roto Grip’s HP3 line. The Hywire contains the Middle Roll 70 core which can also be found in its counterpart the Haywire. The Hywire is wrapped with the 62M Hybrid coverstock and is finished at polished 1500 grit
The Hywire is the new polished version of the Haywire and was created to give a cleaner smoother look compared to the Haywire. I drilled mine with a 55 x 4.5 x 25. I wanted to give the ball some length down lane with a smoother reaction off the breakpoint. I decided on a 4.5 inch pin distance to give myself a fairly strong flare potential. After throwing this ball I’ve found that it is real clean through the fronts because of the factory polish and the overall ball reaction is very smooth and easy reading because of the solid element in the coverstock. The ball packs a punch when it hits the pins and the overall strong reaction gives me a little bit of miss room to the right.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong and versatile benchmark ball. This ball will be good for any type of bowler who has a straighter game or more of a deeper lane play player. The Hywire will be real good on drier, medium, or medium heavy lane conditions. It might be a bit weak for fresh heavier oil patterns but it will definitely be a good transition ball on those heavier conditions.

The Roto Grip Idol Pearl is Roto Grips newest HP3 line release. The Idol Pearl is covered with the eTrax-P18 pearl stock and is finished at 1500 Grit polish. The Core is the Symmetrical Ikon Core which is also found in the original Idol. I drilled my Idol pearl with the pin and CG stacked below my bridge. This is the same layout I put on my No Rules Pearl. My intention was to replace the No Rules Pearl but after throwing the Idol Pearl, the Idol is a few boards weaker. The pin down reaction really smoothed out the back end reaction on the Idol Pearl. The ball gives me a great look between first arrow and third arrow especially on fresher patterns. Once the lanes start to break down and I have to move in I’ve found that I start to lose carry or the ball reads too early on the broken down heads and I have a hard time keeping the ball in the pocket. The Idol Pearl is a great compliment to the original Idol. As far as solid/pearl combos, the Idols might be my favorite one.

The Menace is Roto Grips newest HP4 Line release. The cover stock is the 74H cover and the core is “Cage” Core. The ball is finished with a 3000 grit abralon. The ball is a nice Asymmetrical Solid that goes well with the likes of the Hyper Cell.
I drilled my Menace with 50x5x30. I used the same layout that I used on Roto Grips Hyper Cell Skid. I wanted to create a compliment to the Skid and this ball fit that mold. Unlike the Skid, the Menace reads the lanes a bit sooner being it’s a solid but it still holds energy and explodes through the pins. I like the Menace because of its versatility. With a quick hand position change or area change you can play straighter on the lane because of its length and you can move inside and play deep on the lane because of the balls overall strength.
I would recommend this ball to anyone looking for a little versatility in a ball. The ball needs oil definitely. The Menace is good for medium to heavy oil. The Menace would be good on house patterns for lower rev rate bowlers but maybe too strong for higher rev players especially with lower ball speed. This Menace is a good fit for medium to heavy sport patterns.

The Roto Grip No Rules is the newest release in Roto Grips HP4 line. The No Rules is surrounded with the Micro DNA Solid coverstock and is finished at 2000 grit Matte. The balls motor is the new Chaotic Core and its colors consist of green, orange, and black.
I drilled my No Rules with a 55x5.5x45 layout. I knew this ball was going to want to hook so I tried to give it a lower flare, longer layout. This ball hooks A LOT. There isn’t much else to say. The No Rules is very strong on the backend and it will hook from just about any point on the lane. I could play around 5th arrow and the ball still hit hard and carried well and I could take some hand and play a little straighter with some success. This ball needs oil.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who needs something to handle oil. The No rules do not like dry lanes and needs oil to make the ball push down lanes. It will handle any longer pattern with heavier volumes of oil.

Likes: Very Strong pearl. Handles heavy oil and is clean through the fronts. For a pearl the ball reads the mid lane real well.
Dislikes: none
The Roto Grip No Rules Pearl is Roto Grips newest HP4 Release. This ball is the Pearl version of the No Rules. Its covered with the Amped cover stock and is finished at 1500 grit polished. The ball hosts the Chaotic Core which is also found in the No Rules.
I drilled my No rules pearl pin down under the bridge with the mass bias in the thumb. A stacked layout. I wanted to try something new for me especially with pin downs. I hoped to get the ball do be smoother down lane but strong like the No rules should be. By drilling it with this layout the ball reads the mid lane really well and has a nice arc off the break point. I’ve used the No Rules pearl on house shots and on medium long sport shots. This ball has become a favorite of mine because of its shape and total reaction. A must have for the advanced bowler.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong backend reaction on fresh lanes with crisp back ends. This ball would also be great for bowlers with less hand who could use the extra help. I believe there is many ways to layout this ball to get it to do different things.

The Roto Grip Show Off is Roto Grips newest HP2 release. The Show Off is motored by the Hot Shot core and is surrounded by the Micro DNA Solid Reactive Cover. The ball is finished out of box at 2000 grit matte
I drilled mine with the pin above my bridge and the mass bias kicked out to my PAP with a big weight hole on my PAP. I drilled this ball to create good mid lane read with a smoother move off the break point. I wanted to be able to move in deeper with this ball and create a different angle than what I’m getting from other balls like the Wreck It or the older Devour. This ball gives me that reaction plus more overall hook compared to those two. The Show Off is real strong off the break point for its price point and has a very strong drive through the pins.
I recommend this ball as a great bench mark ball. This is a great ball for beginners who are just learning how to hook because there is so much reaction in this ball that it will allow a new bowler a lot of growth room.

The Roto Grip Winner is Roto Grips newest HP2 release. The Winner contains the Altered Hotshot Core which is symmetrical. The balls cover stock is the VTC-P18 and is finished at 1500 grit polished.

I drilled my Winner with my favorite and most used layout. The pin is to the right of my ring finger giving me a 3.5 inch pin to pap distance with the CG stacked below the pin. The combination of this layout with the Winner has given me a straighter more smooth reaction on a weaker ball. The winner is very similar to the Roto Grip Hectic but the Winner is about 3-4 boards stronger. The Winner is very long with more of a back end reaction but the Winner doesn’t have a jerk reaction off the spot. The reaction off the break point is much more controlled and has a very heavy roll through the pins. The ball is very clean through the heads which allows me to move in with it as the lanes allow. I am a big fan of these HP2 balls because they allow me to stay straighter early but they have a strong enough reaction that I can move in and still keep my carry power. I recommend the Winner for House Shot leagues and medium volume sport patterns. They Winner like most HP2 releases are very versatile and stronger than it probably should be but that’s what makes them great. The Winner is about 5 boards weaker than the Dare Devils so its definitely something you can ball down too later in tournaments.

The Roto Grip Winner Solid is Roto Grip’s newest HP2 line release. The Winner Solid is covered with the VTC-S18 solid cover stock and is finished at 3000 grit matte finish. The Winner Solid has the Symmetrical Altered Hotshot Core which is also found in the Winner Pearl. The Winner Solid is the perfect complement to the Winner Pearl. I drilled both my Winner’s with the pin up and about an inch right of the ring finger with the CG stacked directly below. This has become one of my favorite layouts over the last year or so. Compared to the pearl the Solid for me is about three boards stronger and rolls about 8 feet sooner which gives me a whole different look. The Solid handles fresher patterns better especially patterns that have a higher volume of oil. I have found so far that when I start with the Winner Solid, I can then change to the Pearl and stay in the same part of the lane without too much adjustment. What surprises me the most about the Solid is the fact that I can play deeper on the lanes and still keep a higher carry percentage. This is pretty rare for me out of lower lines of balls. I recommend the Winner solid for anyone looking for a great lower cost ball. The solid is a great benchmark ball and you get much more ball for the money which is a great deal.

The Roto Grip Wreck Em is one of Roto Grips newest HP2 releases. This ball is covered with a 1500 grit polished cover called Pumped. The core is the Neutron Core found in the other Wrecker releases.
I drilled mine with the pin to the right of my ring finger and the mass bias in my thumb. I wanted this ball to have a lower flare weaker reaction compared to my other equipment. This layout gives my Wreck Em a smooth motion off the break point. It also gives the ball a lot of length down lane which is what I wanted. This ball is great for house shots and a perfect bench mark ball in my eyes. I recommend the Wreck EM for house shots, shorter sport patterns and broken down medium and medium long patterns.

The Roto Grip Wreck IT is the newest release in Roto Grips HP2 Line. The ball is the hybrd version of Roto Grips Wrecker. The Wreck IT is covered with the Psyched Hybrid coverstock and is finished at 3000 grit Matte. The ball surrounds the Neutron Core and the colors are Gold, white, ad Black.
The Wreck IT screams benchmark ball to me. The overall reaction is strong but not too strong where you can’t control it. I drilled mine with a 50x5x45 layout which gives me length with a moderately smooth backend reaction. This ball reminds me of the Roto Grip Devour but is a bit stronger overall. The Wreck It is very versatile and can be used anywhere from 2nd arrow to 5th arrow depending on the oil pattern.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who needs that medium oil pattern ball. Like I said before it’s a great benchmark ball because of its versatility. You can also shine it up and give it more length for drier lanes or for a more stronger backend pop.

The Storm Code Black is the newest Premier release from Storm. The ball contains the asymmetrical Rad4 core. The coverstock is the R2S cover and is finished with a 1500 grit polish.
I drilled my code black with the pin above my bridge with the CG and the Mass Bias out to the right of my thumb. I wanted some length out of the ball with a stronger reaction down lane. That is exactly what I got. The ball gets through the front part of the lane so smooth it would surprise me if it ever rolls early. It has a real strong reaction off the break point but its very controllable. This combination of this core and cover stock works perfectly.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who is looking for a strong reacting smooth ball for medium to heavier oil patterns. This ball is great for longer patterns after a few games on them. It does pretty well on heavier conditions but definitely likes the break down and medium volumes better.

The Storm Code Red is the newest Storm release in their Premier Line. The ball like the code black contains the RAD 4 core and is covered with the R2S Hybrid Cover stock that is finished at 1500 grit polish. It also has the fantastic Cinnamon fragrance.
I drilled mine with the pin above my bridge and the Mass Bias kicked out a bit to the right of my thumb. I put my favorite layout on this ball which gives me length and a smooth yet strong overall reaction from the ball. The Code Red for me is much different from the Code Black. Both have the same amount of length but the Code Red has a much more predictable ball motion and for me it creates better angles to the pocket which gives me better carry overall. I have thrown this ball anywhere from 2nd arrow on heavier oil to 4th/5th arrow on broken down tournament lanes. I’m very confident in the balls ability to hit hard from anywhere.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong hybrid and wants control out of their ball. The Code Red is a great tournament ball because of its ability to handle multiple conditions. It’s also a great ball for lower rev players on normal house shots.

The Storm Code X is the newest Premier line ball for Storm and is the solid edition of the very popular Code series. The Code X contains the RAD4 Core and is covered by the R2S solid coverstock which is finished at 3000 grit matte. I drilled my Code X with my new favorite layout where the pin is 4 inches from my pap with the CG stacked below the pin. This gives me the ultimate control and I have now used it on my Intense, Hyper Cell Fuzed, and Dare Devil. The Code X is very strong. Even with the Shorter pin layout the ball still has a lot of pop and drives hard through the pins. The Code X for me is pretty comparable to the Code Red in that both reads the mid lane early but still has enough energy left to finish when playing from deeper angles. The Code X is just stronger than the Red by about 5 boards.

The Storm Crux Prime is Storms newest Premier Line bowling release. The Crux Prime contains the Catalyst Core which is found in all of the Crux line of balls. The Prime is covered by Storms newest cover stock called the SPEC Solid Reactive cover. The ball is factory finished at 2000 grit.

First off I want to talk about the new SPEC cover stock. The SPEC cover is designed to fit the new USBC rules for oil absorption. This cover is amazing. I’ve thrown a few practice sessions and 5 games at the USBC Open with it already and the cover still looks and feels dull like it did brand new. I can’t wait for this cover to be available on future bowling balls.
I drilled my prime pin down and stacked below my bridge. I drilled it specifically for Nationals. I wanted a good strong ball that can handle oil but with a layout that will roll earlier and stay smoother down lane. This is exactly what I got. This layout combined with the cover really helped me control the back end reaction on the tough USBC Open conditions. I found some success early with the Prime but when I started to have to migrate left, the ball because to strong in the front part of the lane where I had to ball down to get more backend reaction. On house shot conditions I’ve found the Prime to be very strong and the ball hits like a tank through the pins. Despite my layout choice I still find the Prime to have a good amount of backend reaction which makes it great for medium to long patterns and heavier volume of oil. For me the Prime is quite a bit stronger compared to the original Crux and Alpha Crux.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a ball that can handle oil and who is not afraid to get left and loop the lane. This ball will cover may different types of oil patterns except maybe short patterns but its very versatile.

Dislikes: none
The Storm Fight is the newest solid release in Storms Thunder Line. The fight contains the new Iron Cross weight block. The covers is the new R4S Solid cover and is finished with 3000 grit abralon.
The fight is the new solid in the Thunder line replacing the HyRoad Solid. The ball is very similar in shape as the Hyroad Solid but for me the Fight is a bit smoother and a little less reactive. I drilled mine with 32x5.5x32 which is the same as my Hyroad Solid. The fight reads and reacts to heavier oil real well. For me it was a little strong on a typical house shot but on patterns with heavier volume the Fight responds better with a smoother reaction. You don’t have to throw the ball away from the pocket to get it to stay in the pocket. I also like how I can move inside 4th arrow and the ball reads the mid lane and carries well. It’s a very good versatile ball.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking to replace their current mid range solid. This ball is great for heavier volume house patterns and medium to long sport patterns. If the ball is too strong you can give it a weaker low flare layout and the ball will still hit the pins hard. If you need a little extra you can sand it down more to get that reaction. That’s what makes this ball so great.

The Storm Hy-Road X is Storm’s newest Thunder Line release. The Hy-Road X is the next great addition to the longest best line of bowling balls in history. The Hy-Road X is covered with the R2X Solid Reactive Cover that is factory finished at 1500 grit polish. The core is once again the Inverted Fe2 Technology core that is found in all of the Hy-Roads. The Hy-Road X has quickly become one of my favorite balls in my bag. I drilled it with my old favorite layout which is the pin above my middle finger with the CG kicked to the right. This gives me a 5.5” pin to PAP. My all time favorite bowling balls have been factory polished solid covers. The Hy-Road X is no exception. With my layout the Hy-Road X has given me a clean look through the front part of the lane and a strong reaction off the break point. I have been able to play straighter on longer patterns and play deeper closer to Fourth arrow when the lanes break down. The combination of solid and polish gives me a great mid lane read when playing the lanes deeper that gives me a much higher carry percentage compared to other balls. I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a great all around ball. The Hy-Road X fits the bill for any and all lane conditions except for Long and Heavy oiled patterns.

The Storm Intense is Storms newest Premier Line release. The Intense contains the brand new RAD-E Core and is surrounded by the R3S Pearl coverstock. The Intense is factory polished at 1500 grit which gives the ball length and a strong move off the breakpoint. I drilled my Intense the pin located above my ring finger and the mass bias just to the right of the thumb hole. This layout gives me a 3-3.5 inch pin to pap which for me gives the ball more control and more of an arc motion down lane. This ball is very controllable and predictable. It rarely jumps on me unless I throw it real bad. I have hold left and hook right and in my hand is the perfect reaction.
I recommend this ball to anyone who is looking for that next best thing. The Intense can be a great benchmark ball as well as a special pattern ball. I think you can use multiple layouts on this ball and it will still roll nice. The Intense is a must get ball.

The Storm Intense Fire is Storms newest Premier Line bowling ball. The Intense boasts the Rad-E Core and is covered with the R3S Hybrid cover. The Intense is finished at 1500 grit polished.

I drilled my Intense Fire with my favorite and most used layout. The pin is to the right of my ring finger giving me a 3.5 inch pin to pap distance with the CG stacked below the pin. I used this layout as well on my original Intense. The Fire fits right in with the Intense because for me it has an earlier reaction in the mid lane compared to the original Intense. The Fire due to the polished finish really gets through the heads clean and saves enough energy despite its earlier roll to still hit the pins with plenty of energy. For me there is such thing as getting too far left with my original Intense. With the Fire being just a couple boards stronger it has allowed me to play deeper than the original and still have good carry percentage. The Fire really reminds me of a stronger Code Red with similar reaction and shape. I recommend the Fire for anyone looking for a stronger polished ball for medium to heavy oil conditions. The ball isn’t quite strong enough to handle higher volumes but it’s a great ball and provides great versatility on House shots and medium volume sport patterns.

The Storm IQ 30th Anniversary Special is Storms newest Master Line release. The IQ 30 is surrounded by the R2S Pearl Reactive Cover and boasts the C3 Centripetal Control Core. The ball is finished with 1500 grit abralon polished finish.
I drilled my Storm Lock with a 32x5.5x32. This Layout is one of my favorites which give me a strong reaction from multiple areas of the lane depending on conditions. The IQ 30 is real clean through the front part of the lane with a strong reaction off the breakpoint. The ball has great carry potential from many parts of the lane. I have bowled on a few different house shots and a couple sport patterns and have had great reaction from 2nd arrow to 5th arrow. The best look I have with this ball is between 3rd and 4th arrow. I like this ball a lot because of its predictability and versatility.

I would recommend this ball to everyone and anyone. The IQ 30 is great for any style of bowlers. It works best if you like to open up the lanes and really let the ball hook. The combination of cover stock and core gives it the strength to help lower rev players see more hook with better hitting power. It’s a great benchmark ball for league bowlers as well.

The Match Up Black Pearl is Storms newest Hot Line release. The Black Pearl has the Stinger 2.0 Core and is covered with the Reactor Cover stock that is finished at 2000 grit sanded.

I drilled my Black Pearl with my favorite and most used layout. The pin is to the right of my ring finger giving me a 3.5 inch pin to pap distance with the CG stacked below the pin. I chose this layout because it gives me the most backend control. My goal with this ball was to stay straighter on medium oiled lanes. With the Black Pearl being a pearl, the sanded finish really gives me a controlled round shape down lane that makes it very easy to read and adjust. Out of the box the Black Pearl is very strong. The ball is much stronger than I was expecting. If there isn’t enough head oil the ball burns up its energy real early giving it a weak hit through the pins. I think with a little polish the Black Pearl would do great on break down but if you prefer the box finish then I recommend using it on fresh patterns with low to medium volume of oil.

The Storm Matched Up Hybrid is Storms newest Hot line release. This Matched Up is the third edition of the Matched Up line and contains the same Stinger 2.0 core as the other two. They Hybrid version is covered with the Reactor Hybrid Reactive coverstock and is factory finished at 1500 polished. The Hybrid is a great combination of both the pearl and solid. It has the strong back end reaction like the pearl but has a smoother overall shape like the solid. This ball is great for medium to medium heavy lanes. Works really well on fresh patterns and mild breakdown but for me is a bit strong for short patterns and heavy broken down lanes. I drilled mine pretty standard with the pin above bridge and my mass bias just to the right of the thumb. For me it’s a 4.5 in pin to pap. I like the overall strength and reaction.
This ball is the perfect benchmark or starter ball. The price point says a beginner bowler can afford it and it contains so much hook potential that a bowler can grow with it and always have a use for it. Its great for those medium oil patterns and if you have faster ball speed would work on short patterns as well.

The Storm Matched Up Solid is Storms newest Hot Line ball. The solid contains the Stinger 2.0 core and is surrounded with the Reactor Pearl cover stock and is finished at 1500 grit polish.
I drilled mine with the pin above my bridge and the Mass Bias kicked out a bit to the right of my thumb. I put my favorite layout on this ball which gives me length and a smooth yet strong overall reaction from the ball. Compared to the solid the Pearl version has a much stronger backed reaction and reacts better from deeper angles left of third arrow. Much like the solid, the Pearl is good for drier lanes and broken down lanes on longer formatted tournaments. Too much oil on the lane makes the pearl go too long so lanes with fresh backends will be much better for the Pearl.
The Matched Up Pearl is a great ball for learning bowlers or bowlers who are looking for a low end reactive for drier lanes. It’s also a perfect fit for bowlers looking for length and good pop on the backend

I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a strong hybrid and wants control out of their ball. The Code Red is a great tournament ball because of its ability to handle multiple conditions. It’s also a great ball for lower rev players on normal house shots.

The Storm Phaze is Storms newest Master release. Its contains the Velocity Core and is surrounded by the AX-16 Pearl Reactive. The Phaze is finished at 1500 grit polished and has Lemon Tart for a fragrance.
The Phaze is a traditional pearl that has a much earlier roll compared to most pearls that I have thrown. I put my favorite layout on it which is 32x5.5x32. The layout gives the Phaze an earlier reaction and a smoother reaction compared to the likes of the Marvel Pearl and the IQ Pearl. This ball is very strong and has a no quit attitude when it comes to hooking. The ball hooks from any point on the lane. You can smooth out the ball reaction by sanding it down to 2000 or 3000 to take away some of the sideways action but if you like angle this is the ball for you.
I recommend this ball to anyone looking for a fun bright ball that hooks and hooks and hooks. The Phazes’s specialty is to open up the lane and give it room to hook and if that is what you are looking for then this is the ball for you. This ball is great for medium-heavy oil patterns that have enough oil in the heads to get the ball down lane before he starts to hook. For house shots I would consider a weaker layout or sanding it down a bit to make it a little easier to read.

The Phaze 2 is Storms newest release in their Master Line. The Phaze 2 contains the Velocity core. The ball is covered with the TX-16 reactive cover and is finished with a 3000 grit matte finish.
I drilled my Phaze 2 with the pin to the right of my ring finger and the CG in my palm. I wanted to be able to play straighter with this ball on heavier oil. The goal was to be able to keep the ball in front of me and not give away the pocket. This ball pretty much does that but I can open the lanes up when it asks for it. The Phaze 2 reads the midlane real well and has fantastic hitting power through the pins. The ball handles well and I could only imagine how well it would react if I put a stronger layout on it for me. It only has about a 3 inch pin so the flare potential is pretty low on the one I drilled.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who needs something to handle oil. This ball reads the mids very well but also handles more medium volume and length patterns. It’s a great overall versatile ball.

The Storm Physix is Storm’s newest Premier line release. The Physix is covered with the NRG Hybrid Reactive and is finished at 3000 grit matte finish. The Physix contains the Atomic Core and is scented with a nice Apple Berry Crisp scent. I drilled mine with the Pin above the Middle finger and the CG kicked right of my mid grip. This is an older layout that I used to use all the time which used to give me a lot of length with a pretty strong but controlled backend reaction. I wanted to try something different to add a different element to my arsenal. Most of my solids roll early and I wanted to create more length. With this layout, the Physix really gets down lane and has a rounded shape at the roll phase. This ball reminds me very much of the old Storm Dimension which was one of my all time favorites. At 3000 grit I’m seeing more length and not as much grab in the oil that I would normally like in a matte finished ball. But I think it’s a good finish for medium volume patterns that are longer length like 37-40 ft. If I want something that grabs sooner for heavier oil I’d sand it down to 1000 or 2000 grit. I would recommend the Physix for anyone looking for a medium reactive dull ball. I believe the Physix is a good all around ball that you can make changes like grit or adding polish.

I drilled my Storm Rocket with a 47x4.75x30. My thought was this ball would be a perfect compliment to my Hyroad Pearl. I wanted the Rocket to read the mid lane better and have more of an arc reaction. This is exactly what I got. The Rocket reads the mid lane real well and doesn't over react in the back end. Although it tends to read the lanes earlier, it still gets through the front part of the lane with ease and is very readable. The carry and hitting power is great considering how early it reads. The Rocket is a great compliment to my HyRoad Pearl which is much longer down lane. I think it fits perfect between the Hyroad and something stronger like a Storm Optimus or the Roto Grip Hyper Cell Skid.

I recommend this ball to any league bowler because this ball kills the typical house shot. It will be a great ball for the medium lane conditions and broken down longer patterns. I have thrown the Rocket on a broken down 47 foot WTBA Paris lane pattern and it reacted very well considering the increase in length and volume of oil. You definitely want one of these as your benchmark ball.

The Storm Rocket Ship is Storms newest release in the Thunder Line. The Rocket Ship is covered with the popular R2S coverstock and is finished with the never been used 3000 grit Sheen finish. The core again is the Booster Core which is also found in the Rocket and the Sky Rocket.
I drilled my Rocketship with a 45x5x30 layout. I wanted a strong mid lane reaction with good pop on the backend. This ball did not disappoint. The cover handles heavier volumes of oil with ease and the overall reaction is smooth and controlled compared to an Alpha Crux or Lock. The Rocket Ship is a great compliment to the Rocket because it’s a few boards stronger and handles heavier oil better but still maintains the smooth overall shape that the Rocket has.
I recommend this ball for medium to medium heavy oil patterns. This ball is great for heavier volume house shots as well as medium sport patterns. This ball is very versatile and with the right layout you can make this ball do and handle what you want it to do.

The new Sky Rocket is Storm’s newest Thunder Line Ball. The ball sports the Booster Core and is covered in my favorite R2S Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The factory finish 1500 grit polished and of course sports a nice Sangria scent. I drilled my Storm Sky Rocket with a 75x4x65. My intentions with the ball and layout choice was to create a great one two punch with the original rocket which is drilled with a 47x4.75x30 layout. I can honestly say I have succeeded. The layout on the Sky Rocket created a pin under middle finger layout for myself. Due to the balls characteristics of being a pearl, the Sky Rocket is very clean through the front part of the lane. The layout I chose makes the ball very smooth with a very predictable shape. This ball is a great compliment to my original Rocket because it is about 5 boards weaker in reaction. The Rocket which has a stronger Pin up layout which gives it a more angle and a stronger backend reaction is much different from my Sky Rocket. When the Rocket is uncontrollable, I can just ball down to the Sky Rocket and stay in the same part of the lane.

I recommend this ball to any league bowler because of its versatility on house shots. A more conventional pin up layout will give the ball a real clean and long look on a typical house shot. Or it can be drilled pin down like I did with mine and it creates a real smooth reacting ball that still hits the pocket hard and carries from deep inside angles on the lane.

The Storm Snap Lock is Storms newest Premier line release. The Snap Lock is the pearl version of the original Storm Lock. The Snap Lock features the R3S pearl coverstock and is finished at 1500 grit polished. The cover surrounds the Rad –X Core also found in the Lock.
I drilled my Snap Lock with a 60x4.5x30 layout. I wanted the ball to have plenty of length with a more controlled backend reaction. I also wanted to the flare potential to be strong. I wanted to be able to move in deep and throw the ball with some ball speed and have it still hit the pocket hard. I achieved all three things. The snap lock is much longer than the Lock and has a much sharper backend motion. This ball is a great compliment to the original Lock because of its length and its ability to get through the fronts smoother. The Snap lock handles heavier oil pretty well and it recovers well when you miss your target.
I recommend this ball for medium heavy to heavy oil patterns. If you have the Lock then I recommend getting the Snap Lock to create that 1,2 punch for when the lanes breakdown. This ball is perfect for playing the lanes deeper inside and it doesn’t lose its hitting power. If you plan on using it for league patterns then I recommend putting a weaker layout on it or possibly changing the surface to 3000 or 4000 to smooth out the reaction.

The Storm Soniq is Storm’s newest Master line ball and a continuation of the very good IQ line. The Soniq has the Centripetal HD Core and is covered with the R2S Pearl coverstock finished at 1500 grit polished. I drilled my Soniq with a stacked layout with the pin above my bridge to give me a little more backend reaction. I have found the Soniq to be pretty strong compared to the Hyroads and is very similar to the IQ 30. The biggest difference between those two is I found the Soniq reads the middle part of the lane a lot sooner than the IQ 30 but both balls have comparable back end strength.
I recommend the Soniq for anyone who wants to Upgrade their current IQ 30 or IQ pearl or for anyone looking for a solid benchmark ball for house shot leagues who need extra reaction.

The Storm Stree Fight is Storms newest Thunder Line release. The ball contains the Iron Cross core and is covered with the R4S cover stock. The Street Fight is finished 3000 grit Sheen finish which gives it a duller look which really blends the reaction.
I drilled my Street fight with my favorite layout. The pin is above the middle finger with the CG kicked right of my palm. I wanted a ball that could be my new bench mark ball. The strength of this ball plus the motion has made this ball one of my favorites. The Street fight handles oil decently but it would much rather deal with medium and shorter patterns with less volume. The sheen finish really blends the reaction and gives it a smooth reaction off the breakpoint.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who is looking for that next great benchmark go to ball. I think this ball could be drilled with many different layouts and would perform exactly how you want it. I think you could shine it up or dull it down to give you different reactions as well. There is not many balls out there that you can say that about.

The Storm Super Soniq is Storm’s newest Master Line release. The Super Soniq contains the Centripetal HD Core and is covered with he NRG Hyrbrid Reactive cover that is factory fanished at 3000 grit.

I drilled my Super Soniq with a 5 in. Pin to pap which puts the pin above my middle finger and the CG kicked to the right a bit. This is an old but favorite layout that I used 7 years ago and I’m starting to find some success again with it. This layout gives me some length and while also giving me a lot of overall hook from the ball. The NRG Cover is also found on the Storm Physix which I think is a good choice for the Super Soniq. When throwing the Super Soniq I get more overall hook compared to the Physix as well as an earlier roll. I like my Storm Physix which has the same layout but I always thought it was too smooth in the mid lane on heavier oil and now the Super Soniq gives me that stronger mid lane roll that I was looking for. I have also found that the Super also gives me the best look I’ve ever had on super walled up house conditions. I’ve struggled with these in my career and again with the strength and solid roll through the mid part of the lane, it really blends the pattern and I’m able to get back into the pocket with a good amount of energy left to help carry.
I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a ball that can handle oil and who is not afraid to get left and loop the lane. This ball will cover may different types of oil patterns except maybe short patterns but its very versatile.
