I almost start every review by explaining that I really prefer Solid coverstocks over Hybrid and Pearls. I ended up really liking the Uproar but I can’t say the same thing about the Asylum from Roto Grip. I will say it was a ball that I didn’t give a big chance to because I was fixated on the Hyper Cell, as well as the Uproar, and now the Zero Gravity from Storm.

I just never found the condition where I would just open up the lane or the pocket. When the ball hit the pocket flush it looked powerful, but I didn’t see the same from hitting the half pocket. The ball motion was unique that it rolled fairly heavily, but I didn’t like the shape of it when it came out of the pattern. I also think a sign of a good ball is how well it sells a few months after it releases. I haven’t seen a ton of Asylums on the lanes in my area. I throw the ball pretty straight, so I am fully aware that I may dislike balls that others bowlers like. For example I really didn’t like the Marvel Pearl from Storm but it really is a great ball that many people love.

I would also like to make everyone aware that on April 11, 2014 Amos Gordon shot 900, and more amazingly he followed that up with 875 {300,275,300}, and yes he did have the Asylum from Roto Grip in his hands both times. I will therefore plug and re-drill my Asylum one day and give it another shot. My rating for now is 2 out of 5. I will update this review if I learn to like the ball at a later date.

As an experienced bowler who has had the opportunity to test a wide range of bowling balls, I can say without hesitation that the Exotic Gem Bowling Ball from Roto Grip is a must-have for any serious competitor. In fact, this ball is the first one out of my tournament bag.
The MicroTrax Pearl Coverstock and the Defiant LRG Core work together perfectly for me, as I have been able to use the Exotic Gem on a variety of different lane conditions. The ball has been very easy for me to use because it has a very predictable motion. The Exotic Gem has reacted well for me whether I was playing the 4th arrow or the 7 board.
In a few events, I have started with the pearl asymmetric Exotic Gem and then transitioned to the TNT, which has a Solid Cover and symmetrical weight block. That is an interesting combo for me.
In short, I can't recommend the Exotic Gem highly enough. This is truly a great ball, and I will drill a number of them over the coming months and years.

The Hyper Cell from Roto Grip is a bowling ball that I am going to drill a bunch of. I have only thrown this ball for a few weeks and I have already ordered 2 more. I first used the ball in my sport league. We were bowling on the Women’s USBC National Pattern and I immediately noticed how much the ball hooked for me. Out of the box it I thought it reacted more then anything I ever owned before. I confirmed this fact 6 days later when I bowled on my house shot. That first night on the women’s pattern I couldn’t help but noticed how hard this ball hit the pins. I knew within a few frames that I really loved the Hyper Cell! I bowled next on the 37 foot Broadway pattern at NEBA. Once again I was covering more boards then I normally cover. The pattern was short, but I was still able to make the ball work and I made the cut. Next up was my house shot. This is a 42 foot pattern which the ball once again handled very well. The next night I bowled on the 45 foot Route 66 pattern which has stumped me a number of times, until last November, when I figured it out, and lead a NEBA Squad. That night the ball was absolutely incredible and I shot 996 for 4 games. Two days later I used the ball at the Ferraro team tournament. I think the pattern was the Seoul Pattern. The Hyper cell once again handled the pattern quite well. The next day I bowled on Route 66 again in the People’s Tournament. I got off to a very slow start and was only 12 over after 2 games. I then shot 278 the third and final game to get to 90 over, and made the cut by 6 pins. I shot 234 my first match and lost my second match that day 247-244. The Hyper Cell did great in the high pressure tournament situation, especially since I needed every pin the last game.
Since I throw the ball fairly straight I really don’t get away with many shots that drag off the thumb, or one that I release a bit fast or thumb down. The Hyper Cell has recovered for me many times in the past few weeks under these circumstances. When that happens for me it truly says a lot about the bowling ball. I have also thrown a few out the window and missed right and couldn’t believed the ball recovered.
I convinced my partner Marcel Lessard to drill up the Hyper Cell. He drilled it and it sat in our office on his ball rack for a few weeks. I walked up to him before Wednesday night league, and basically told him you using your Hyper Cell tonight. He shot 816 that night which was his first three games with the ball. Marcel throws it even straighter then me, and the Hyper Cell opened up the pocket and lane for him also.
In short I have battle tested the Hyper Cell on a number of conditions. The ball is tournament tested as well. It is very strong and very versatile at the same time. It is a special ball for me because it added aggressive hook to my bag which I usually don’t get.
The Hyper Cell from Roto Grip is like buying hook in the box, and gets my highest rating without a doubt!

The Hysteria from Roto Grip is a very unique bowling ball. It is a shined up solid bowling with a high RG. This means it will get down the lane, and store energy, while other solids may be burning up, and losing energy. I tend to favor solid bowling balls as they tend to be smoother as the roll down the lane. This shiny ball rolls very smoothly yet packs quite a punch at the pocket. The Hysteria is a ball that should allow you to play straighter, which is a big positive for guys like me who throw it straight, because we tend to carry better, if we don’t have to move left and throw it right. When the lanes start to break down I think most bowlers will really appreciate the ball motion of the Hysteria. I know I did!

The Outcry from Roto Grip should fit nicely into many bowling bags without breaking the bank. I use the ball when the heads start to break down, and I need a ball that will get through the fronts and store energy. What is nice about the outcry is I don’t get that skip flip reaction, even though the ball is storing energy. This is not a ball I can use on a fresh heavy oil shot. I can use it on a fresh house shot if it is shorter than 40 feet. Guys that hook it a lot can probably use it anytime. I feel this ball is for the avid bowler looking to fill holes in the bag. If you are a person who buys one to two balls a year I rather see you look for a ball in the HP4 or HP3 line. Please keep in mind for the price of the Outcry you get a pretty darn good bowling ball. My rating would be 3 out of 5 for the average bowler, and 4 out of 5 for the avid bowler that needs to fill a hole in his bowling bag.

Once again the Roto Grip brand has a winner with the Sinister. The ball has been very versatile for me. I have had success with it on sports shots as well as house shots. The hybrid coverstock helps the ball get through the heads, and at the same time it reads the midlane early enough to be used in heavy oil conditions. The backend on the Sinister is phenomenal as it recovers from places most balls don’t recover for me. It is a very powerful ball and you will see that when you see how hard the sinister hits the pins. Another positive about the Sinister is I been able to keep it in my hands longer than most heavy oil balls. It doesn’t burn up and slow down as fast as some other powerful balls that I have used. The Sinister by Roto Grip is a winner and it has earned it way into my tournament bag.

If you go back and read some of my other reviews you will see that I have a strong tendency to really like solid coverstock balls. You will also notice that I haven’t given many strong reviews on pearls and hybrids. Therefore when I tell you that I have a high opinion on the Uproar from Roto Grip it should really mean something to you.

As I said in the past I am not a big skip/flip type of guy. I like archy ball motions, and I don’t get that with many pearls or hybrids. The Uproar really rolls well for me and became part of my tournament bag very quickly. I don’t get that big skid /flip reaction, and yet the ball does make a very good controllable move in the back part of the lane and accelerates through the pocket.

Being that it is a pearl ball I also never have any trouble getting it down the lane. The ball really works well for me when I need to ball down due to transition, The fact that it doesn’t skid/flip, and just archs for me, helps me play the right part of the lane, therefore avoiding the under over reaction I get with most pearls.

What amazes more about the Uproar from Roto Grip is it very low price point. I feel you get so much ball for your money that the Uproar should be part of everyone’s arsenal. It will be very hard to go wrong with the Uproar from Roto Grip. The Uproar therefore gets my highest rating.

The Byte from Storm is a pearl ball that comes out of the box 1500 polished. This ball did not make my tournament bag until just recently, even though I had moderate success in league with the Byte. If you read some of my past reviews you would know that I throw the ball fairly straight, and I heavily favor solid balls. I have never been a skid flip type of guy, and most pearl balls tend to skid flip for me. Even though I can’t rant and rave about the Byte, I must say the ball does have a unique roll, which is why it makes a good edition to my tournament bag. It rolls early for me, but at the same it gets through the heads and mid lane quite easily, therefore it stores plenty of energy for the back end. This gives the ball very good power when attacking the pins. I want different balls motions in my tournament bag and the Byte definitely gives fits this bill. I drilled my second Byte pin down, and this ball rolled sooner, and flipped less for me, which is to my liking. In short if you only buy a few balls a year and you like solids balls then like me I would go a different direction. However if you are unlike me, and pearl balls are the first balls out of your bag, then you should give the Byte a stronger consideration. If you are like me and want to build a tournament bag with a lot of variety then I can strongly recommend the Byte because of the unique ball motion it offers. I give the Byte a 3 on a scale to 5, only because it isn't an every day ball for me.

If I had to choose between solid or pear bowling balls, my preference is definitely solid ones. I bowl tournaments just about every weekend in the Northeast, and I am finding a need to use pearl balls more and more. One of my favorites over the past year was the Storm Fringe, and the Freak’n Frantic is here to take it place.

When the patterns are too short, or contain less volume, and when my solid ball {either the IQ Tour or Marvel S} starts to spend too much energy early, I know it is time to ball down and the Freak’n Frantic is a good choice to have in my bag. The need to ball down seems to be happening more often and faster lately. What is very nice about the Freak’n Frantic is I don’t have to work at all to get it through the heads, and the ball bounces at the end of the pattern, and makes a very nice strong move toward the pocket. The hard move the ball makes in the backend explodes the pins into the pit, or tosses them around the deck like lawn chairs sitting outside in a hurricane.

This ball has been out for over 3 months now, and to be honest I haven’t seen many people using it in my travels. Please don’t let that fool you because I feel the Freak’n Frantic is a sleeper ball, and it is a great value especially for its price point. Give yourself more options by putting the Freak’n Frantic in your bag.

The Fringe from Storm is a straight pearl ball that comes out of the box 1500 polished. I have been using this ball on a 39ft pattern that has been hooking more then usual. I throw the ball fairly straight, so in the past I had no trouble using aggressive balls on this condition. I was having trouble getting the ball down the lane lately, so I had to play more left then I wanted, which compromised my angle to the pocket as well as carry. I switched to the Fringe and the lane and pocket opened right up for me. I didn’t have to work at all to get the ball through the heads. The ball stores energy very well and hits the pocket extremely hard for me.

I have also used the ball on a long house shot with heavier oil. I was still impressed with the ball’s reaction and the way it still hot the pocket with power. I also really like the fact that even though the ball stores a lot of energy, it never gets skid/flippy, therefore I control the ball pretty easily. This ball will make a great addition to anyone’s tournament bag.

I am going to start out this review by saying the Hy-Road Pearl looks better in other bowler’s hands then in my own. I do think it is important to understand that I have really don’t like many pearl balls at all. I have had a lot of success with the Fringe, and Lights Out, the IQ Tour Pearl even made my tournament bag. For the most part I have the most success with Solid balls. Please refer to my reviews of the Marvel S and the IQ tour to see how I feel about them.

One of the reasons I tend not to write my reviews near the release date is I like to get a chance to see how balls roll for other people besides myself. I like to get feedback from other bowlers also. I know in the past I haven’t had success with some pearl balls that other people loved. So I try to balance my feelings toward a ball with how much success others are having with it.

I am going to give the Hy-Road Pearl a medium rating even though I struggled with it because the ball has looked awesome in a number of others bowlers hands. Just this past Sunday, I watched a bowler in NEBA go from out of the cut to leading the Squad in one game once he switched to his HY-Road Pearl. He even suggested I bring mine the next day. I have also seen the ball look great in a number of other bowler’s hands. Those bowlers told me they really love the ball. Please take that for what it is worth.

I have drilled most of my pearls pin up, and I am going to start experimenting with some pin down layouts on pearls. I am going to plug and redrill my Hy-Road Pearl with the hopes that a different layout will make mine roll as good as the others out there. We will see what happens.

I did like the ball on the day I shot the video, but I just haven’t had the immediate success with it the few times I tried it in league or tournaments. The ball squirted too much for me, which surprised me after seeing and hearing others talk about the ball.

I guess the point I am making here is don’t count out this ball because of my review. Read other reviews and watch other bowlers before making a decision on the HY-Road Pearl. I have a pretty big suspicion I am in the minority here when it comes to this ball.

The Hy-Road Solid from Storm is a ball I never really ended up liking a lot. I had some early success with it, but over the long run it never developed into a go to ball for me, which is unusual because I normally have great success with solids. I felt the ball never really made a strong move in the back for me, which is normally fine as long as the ball makes a decent move in the fronts. My reaction in the fronts didn’t seem to make up for the lack of reaction I got in the backs.
Even though I am sure there are plenty of bowlers that drilled and liked the Hy-road Solid I don’t see a ton of them being used right now in my tournament travels along the Northern East Coast. I am going to rate the ball a 6. In short by the Crux instead, you won’t believe how hard that ball hits the pins!

Are you are looking for a bowling ball that needs to start up early? Then pull the new IQ from Storm out of your bowling bag. This ball is armed with Storm’s new Progressive Friction Technology that starts cutting through heavy oil as soon as it hits the lane. Even though the ball rolls early it still has plenty of energy left in the back part of the lane to slam the pins into the pit.

Much like its sister ball the IQ Tour, the ball is very predictable going down the lane. The difference is the IQ starts its move earlier then the IQ Tour which glides through the fronts a bit easier. Since the IQ goes into an early roll it is a great ball for bowlers who like to start in the heavy oil. The IQ lives up to its name. You will be very smart to have one of these in your bag!

The IQ Tour is an incredible bowling ball. I have used this ball on a variety of conditions, low scoring as well as high scoring. The IQ Tour gets through the front with ease, then reads the mid lane, and then continues through the back in a motion that is very smooth and predictable, yet very powerful. This is a combination that really fits my bowling style well.

I feel it is very important for any serious bowler to have a ball in their ball with a very predictable motion like the IQ Tour. It is a lot easier to read lane conditions as well as the transition when you ball isn’t doing tricks as it goes down the lane. I think bowlers tend to make more quality shots when they are lined up. The IQ Tour adds up to more consistency and higher scores.

In closing I had a lot of tournament success with the IQ Tour on a variety of different shots. The ball reacted great in tournaments on a house pattern, modified house pattern, Dick Webber, as well as Stockholm. The angle I played was out as far as 2-3 and as deep as 17. The ball performed equally great on all these conditions at a variety of angles. The IQ Tour is the first ball out of my bag in every tournament!

I firmly believe the IQ Tour ranks up there as one of the best balls ever made. I drilled my IQ Tour Pearl the same exact way as my IQ Tour. Because of the difference in the coverstock, the IQ Tour Pearl gets through the fronts easier then the IQ Tour, it also tends to store more energy and therefore is sharper in the back for me. The IQ Tour Pearl adds a great option for me in my tournament bag. It won’t take long before people realize this ball is a weapon!

This ball really worked great on the transition on my 39-40 foot league pattern. I struggle to get a consistent 3 game reaction because the back ends get tamer as the night goes on. I started my league on 12/4/12 with my IQ Tour and shot 279. The second game the transition kicked in and I lost the angle to the pocket, which affected my carry, and I shot 214. I decided I was tired of fighting the transition, and switched to the IQ Tour Pearl in the 10th frame. The IQ Tour Pearl hooked in the back where the IQ tour didn’t and I shot 300 the last game. I know 300’s are cheap these days, but I didn’t shoot 300 in that house in over a year. I therefore credited the ball for making the difference. 5 days later my partner picked up his IQ Tour Pearl right before our doubles tournament. He came out of the box shooting 800 for the first 3 games.

During the tournament there were already a number of bowlers throwing the IQ Tour Pearl. I can tell you the ball looked great in everyone’s hands. I feel every serious bowler should consider the one two punch of the IQ Tour and the IQ Tour Pearl. You won’t be disappointed!

The Lights Out from Storm is a ball I was pleasantly surprised with. I always liked balls that get rolling early that somehow still glide through the heads. I am a straighter player that rolls it early, with an average ball speed. It is important for me not to fight the heads with early rolling balls. The Lights Out excels for me because even though it gets rolling early, the ball still goes down the lane very easily storing plenty of power for the pocket.

This ball fits in below my IQ Tour Pearl, and above my Freak’n Frantic, and Fringe, in my bag. I think if the Tropical Heat and the Hy-Road had a baby, it would be named the Lights Out. I have seen a few other people including non staffers throw this ball, and I really liked the way it reacted for everybody. Like the Freak’n Frantic, the Lights Out is another great value for its price point. If you have a little drier lane condition, or a shorter pattern, pick up this ball and shoot Lights Out!

The Lucid is the newest ball from Storm that I feel will make a great addition to anyone’s bag. As soon as I threw my first shot with the ball I knew it was a very aggressive ball. I threw a few shots that at 58 feet I thought I would leave a weak 10 pin, but somehow the ball finished flush and carried. This is not a normal reaction for me as I throw the ball pretty straight.
I think one of the things that sets Storm apart from other ball companies is you can actually build a great arsenal of balls that will you give many different looks. If you can learn how to use this versatility you should be able to be more competitive more often on different conditions.
Anybody that knows anything about me knows my benchmark ball is the IQ Tour and this will not change for a very long time. The IQ Tours works wonders for me on most conditions. I have however run into a few conditions where I needed something stronger and the Lucid was there to answer the call. I bowled a sweeper on the pattern Earl Anthony. I started with the IQ Tour but needed something stronger in games 4 and 5. The Lucid came to the rescue while I was struggling, which helped me finish strong and to take 2nd place.
The Lucid is shining naturally for me as I get more games on it. This natural shine is actually making the ball react even better for me. The Lucid hits the pins really hard and keeps them very low.
Bottom line if you are looking for a top of the line, best in class aggressive bowling ball that will fit into the number 1 slot in your bag, you won’t go wrong with the Lucid. My tournament bag right now consists of the Lucid, IQ Tour, Nano, Fringe, Victory Road
Solid, and a spare ball.

The Marvel S from Storm is a fantastic bowling ball. It is by far my favorite bowling ball since the IQ Tour which came out in July 2012. Anyone that knows me knows how much I loved the IQ Tour. I drilled 6 IQ Tours so far, {I am not done drilling IQ Tours yet} and there is a good chance I will end up drilling more Marvel S’s before I am done. I think that highly of this ball.

I really loved the Nano and was really disappointed when Storm discontinued it. The good news is the Marvel S has the same cover stock, which produces a nice heavy roll, which is great for a straighter player such as me. I feel because of the weight block, the marvel S is smoother then the Nano was. Basically if you liked the Nano you will also like the Marvel S.

I bowl tournaments every weekend, and I can always tell how popular a bowling ball will be just by paying attention to what people are throwing, as well as what they are saying about a bowling ball. When a new ball gets released from any company you will see people throwing them. The great balls pick up steam and still sell really well months down the road. The Marvel S has been out for about 4 months now and I keep seeing more and more of them on the racks. As a staffer that is the true test of knowing when a ball is truly great and the Marvel S fits that bill.

Next time you are in a bowling center watching good bowlers, find someone throwing this Aqua green and black ball, watch how nice it rolls, and how powerful it really is when it enters the pocket. In conclusion the Marvel S from Storm gets my highest rating. I can’t stress enough that everyone needs to own this balling ball!

The Optimus is a pearl ball from Storm. I have both a pin up and a pin down Optimus that roll very well for me. I found like most pearl balls the Optimus has no problem guiding through the fronts. The big difference is the Optimus reads the mid lane better than most pearls without sacrificing the sharp backend reaction. This late power gives the pins little chance when the Optimus comes charging in.

Even though the Optimus rolls very well for it isn’t my go to ball, and it isn’t the first ball out of my bag. The Optimus’s role in my bag is the first step down when my solid is starting to burn up. The fact that is reads the mid lane so well, makes it a good choice for me when I need more length, but still need a strong bowling ball.

I am going to rate the ball an 8, not based on my opinion alone, but watching others throw it, and open up the lane. Even though the ball is now 4 months old now I still see plenty of them being used in my travels. That is usually a sign of a very good ball! In short I think the Optimus earns the right for many tournament bags even though it may not be the first ball out of the bag especially now that the Crux has hit the market.

The Pitch Black is a solid urethane ball from Storm. This is definitely not a ball for everyone in my opinion. The fact that I throw the ball fairly straight makes any urethane ball almost useless for me. There honestly aren't very many conditions, which I run into in the course of the year where I say to myself I wish I had urethane. I bowl a lot more than the average person does also. I would say there would be a high probability if I actually ran into a condition where I needed urethane, the ball probably wouldn't be in my car anyway. In short I believe bowlers that throw it straight should spend their money on a good resin ball instead. I just couldn't hook the ball enough to put this ball in my tournament bag.

Keep in mind that I am just one guy who doesn’t really have a big need for urethane. The ball has created a lot of buzz since it first came out. The touring pro guys actually did pretty well with the ball on shorter patterns. Another bowler even bowled a 900 series with the ball. If you search the storm website there is even a video of his last few shots. High rev rate guys that still use urethane once in a while would probably really like this ball. The Pitch Black might even work well for bowlers who still bowl on wood.

In conclusion I didn't like the Pitch Black because I couldn't hook it enough. Please keep in mind that doesn't mean the Pitch Black is bad, it just means this ball isn't for everyone. If you thinking about buying a Pitch Black, do some research, and I am sure you will someone that liked the ball a lot more than me.

I don’t remember why but the Punch Out from Storm sat in my car for a long time without me using it. It might have got lost in the shuffle because I sometimes drill a lot of different balls at once, and on top of that I still use older balls that I like a lot such as the IQ Tour Solid and the Marvel S. Then one day I went to shoot the video for the Punch Out and I struck the first 9 times I threw the ball that day. I wonder if that was a fluke so I took the ball to league that night, on a completely different pattern, and I had one of my best nights in the summer league. I couldn’t believe how good this ball rolled, and how hard it hit the pins. Needless to say this ball now comes with me to every tournament.

What is amazing about the ball is it allowed me to square up, because I was able to trust that the ball would go through the heads and mid lane without me forcing it. Once it hit the back ends it stored so much energy it crushed the pins.

The price point on this ball is amazingly cheap when you match it to its performance. This ball as well as the Wipe Out is a perfect fit for parents looking for an upgrade for their kids that aren’t quite old enough or good enough to throw $200 bowling balls. It is perfect for someone looking to upgrade from the ball that they won in a have a ball league. At the same time this is a great ball for the scratch tournament bowler. This ball is a sleeper just like the Fringe was. It will perform well for many different bowlers, so I feel it belongs on the list the next time you’re thinking about buying a bowling ball.

The Reign On from Storm is a hybrid reactive ball that comes out of the box 4000. This is a ball that took me a while before I decided to add it to my tournament bag. I heavily favor solid balls, so pearls and hybrids often take a back seat to balls like Marvel S’s and IQ Tours. I tend to use the Reign On when my IQ Tour Solid starts to go straighter in the back. The Reign on stores more energy and therefore turns the corner harder then the IQ Tour does. The Reign On has opened up the pocket for me a number of times when the IQ Tour was burning out. The Reign On isn’t the first ball out of my bag due to its cover, but it does fit nicely between my IQ Tour Solid and IQ Tour Pearl. I have watched high rev players destroy the lanes on numerous occasions with this ball. Like I said it took me a while to get to know and like this ball, but I feel it is really worth looking at. Even though they are some newer Storm and Roto Grip Balls on the market today, the Reign On deserves to be part of that buying decision. I give it a 4 on a scale of 5. Some people like me won’t be using the ball every day, but if you bowl tournaments you are going to come across lane conditions that call for Reign On!

When reading bowling ball reviews I feel it is important to know a little bit about the person who is writing them. I not a high rev player and my ball speed is average. Besides my leagues I managed to bowl 60-70 sweepers and tournaments a year.

The Super Natural is not a ball that is going to be in my hand very often. Even though I roll the ball early, I haven’t run into many conditions over the past few years where I needed to drop down to a urethane ball. On the normal house patterns I have tried the Super Natural on, the ball went very straight for me. I had to really work it to make it finish for me. Keep in mind that I could have used a Marvel S on the same condition. A friend of mine that doesn’t use his thumb made the ball look pretty good. I have to consider this ball being a very condition specific ball.

If you’re a high rev player fighting the heads then Super Natural may make a good addition in your bag. If you are a straight guy who bowls on very dry or wood lanes this ball may help you also. I just haven’t run into many situations personally where I needed to use urethane.

In short, since I am a staffer and drill everything Storm comes out with, it won’t hurt me to keep this in my car in case I run into that very dry lane condition down the road sometime. If you are a straight player like me, who can’t drill everything that comes out, I rather see you buy something like the Lights Out or Freak’n Frantic. I think you get more mileage out of either one of those two balls. If you are a high rev player this ball might be the ball for you, because you probably fight the heads more often.. Storm makes many different bowling balls that will work for many different styles. Some balls fit well for some players, and not others, and vice versa. Even though I am not in a position to rave about the Super Natural, that doesn’t mean someone else with different circumstances won’t love it. We staffers write reviews to help people narrow the many choices that are on the bowling ball market.

The Sync is the newest ball in the Premier line from Storm. It comes equipped with a very strong asymmetrical core, which creates a very strong ball motion, even for straighter players such as me. The ball rolled a lot the Nano for me but it seems to clear the heads a little easier before starting its powerful roll.

My benchmark ball is the IQ Tour and has been for about a year now. I have run into situations in tournaments when I needed a stronger shape and entry angle into the pocket and the Sync was there to bail me out. I believe it is important to have two solids in your tournament bag, with one having a symmetrical core, and the other having an asymmetrical core. This combination helps me match up to more conditions while traveling from one bowling center to another in tournaments.

I was at a tournament a few days ago {6/2/13} and the tournament leader used a highly polished Syn,c and lead the field by over 50 pins in a 5 game block. That makes the Sync very versatile in terms of playing with the coverstock. That polished ball motion looked so good going down the lane that I am going to try that myself, with my second Sync this week.

In closing I feel Storm has succeeded once again by adding another weapon to my arsenal.

The Wipe Out from Storm is a Solid Reactive Ball that fills a hole in the Hot Line. It is a ball that rolled well for me as soon as I drilled it. Even though the ball is a solid it didn’t read the heads too early and burn up. It starting reading in the mid lane for me and continued very well through the pocket. When you see the Wipe Out hits the pins you wouldn’t guess you’re throwing a low end priced ball. I get approached by parents all the time looking for a ball suggestion for their kids. They are looking for something to upgrade from the Plastic or Urethane ball their kid got in a have a ball league. I don’t want to stick these kids in a $200 bowling ball yet, so the Wipe Out and Punch Out are both perfect this type of scenario.

Having said that make no mistake the Wipe Out is a good enough ball for the seasoned scratch bowler’s tournament bag. It is nice to be able to have an option during tournament play to drop in balls, and still keep a solid in your hand. I have also seen a few people show up at tournaments with the Wipe Out highly polished, and it looked like it rolled great!

In short the Wipe out is a great ball because it offers versatility and power all a great price. I feel the Wipe out is a great addition to the Hot Line that should fill many needs!

The Zero Gravity from Storm has taken over the position of my go to ball in my tournament bowling ball. This is not a position I take lightly since I bowl so many tournaments. Prior balls that have earned that distinction have been the Nano, Victory Road Solid, IQ Tour Solid, Marvel S, and the Hyper Cell from Roto Grip. You can probably see from my list that I love solid coverstocks. My guess is if you had success with any of the balls I mentioned above, you will most likely have success with the Zero Gravity.

The Zero Gravity has a very unique roll which is almost hard to describe. The ball comes out of the pattern, and makes a strong move, yet it is very controllable, and not too strong. It glides through the heads very easily, and yet it isn't too weak, and can be used on heavy oil. I am also very impressed how hard the ball hits the pins. The IQ Tour Solid was a ball that made it easier for me to read the lanes because of it true roll. The Zero Gravity contains the same characteristic in that regard.

You know a ball is good when the truly make a difference, and you can measure the results. In my classic league, where I am fighting for high average at 240, I didn't have a set this year over 752. This was kind of amazing since I bowled 22 weeks before I used the Zero Gravity. The first night I used it in that league I threw 300-811, and the very next week I threw 783 with the ball. I also bowled 300-1213 for 5 at a NEBA Tournament while the cut score was only 1083. That is a measurable, result in my book.

Finally I believe the Zero Gravity is going to be proven as a ball that fits many different styles and can be used on a variety of different conditions. This ball is a favorite of mine, as well as a close friend of mine, who is also a Storm Staffer. The interesting part about that is because of our style difference we very seldom, if ever, have the same favorite ball. The Zero Gravity is the exception, and should make a nice addition to many bowlers' bags.
