Altered Reality could be your next favorite ball!
Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 65 x 4.5 x 45
Finish: OOB
Tour and staff players have really enjoyed the versatility of the 900 Global Reality so it only made sense to release a pearl version of this piece. I drilled my Altered Reality the same way I drilled my Reality with pin above bridge and PSA kicked right of the thumb. I couldn’t have been more excited to see what I witnessed which as a clean, forgiving asymmetric! Normally, I don’t prefer OOB, shiny pieces, especially on pearl assymetrics as they can be less controllable on the back end and create the over/under effect. HOWEVER, this is not the case for the Altered Realilty!! In comparisons, it is not hockey stick motion like my Rubicon UC2 and it is cleaner than the Dark Code as my Dark wanted to read earlier, but I feel I can open my angles further with the Altered as it has amazing recovery from even 4-5 board down lane!! When I pulled it in the oil, it still had enough teeth in the cover to read the mids and get to the pocket, so it’s a great fit between my UC2 and Dark Code pieces! This one’s a homerun by 900 and could be your new favorite ball!!!

The Eternity will turn heads!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-5/8 x 3/4 up, 380 RPM, 13* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 45 x 5-1/4 x 35
VLS: 5.25 x 4 x 2.5

Finish: OOB

The new 900 Global Eternity is a VERY versatile asymmetric pearl. This is very similar to the previous Altered Reality, but better! Comparatively, this piece is cleaner and more continuous than the original Altered which means this ball is more versatile across the boards. I put a 5-1/4” pin with 2.5” pin buffer which puts the pin high above my bridge so this piece will be clean thru the fronts and have a continuous strong motion once it sees the friction. Compared to my Exotic Gem, this one is more forgiving, and I can get deeper inside with this ball and know it will retain enough energy to kick out the corner pins. Put a little surface on it and it will dig into the oil for a great mid-lane read. This new core/cover combination is truly a winner that is great for a variety of conditions and player styles. Don’t wait on this one, it will deliver many strikes!

900 Wolverine will be your friend on dry lanes

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 50 x 5.75 x 40

Finish: OOB

The release of the Wolverine by 900 brings a dry-lane option to your bag that’s does not lack strength or power on the backend. I’ve been hearing comparisons like it’s a step up from the Hyroad pearl. For me, it’s like a cleaner, stronger version of the Idol Pearl. The 2.54 RG will naturally get the ball thru the fronts, but the .053 differential tells you it will be storing that energy for the backend and boy does it. I went with a long pin layout that puts is just above and left of my middle finger as I wanted something super clean with great recovery for burned up patterns requiring me to play deeper angles. What I was impressed was, not only the color scheme that has some purple sheen pearl in there you can’t see from pics, but this is a very strong pearl I can really open up my angles if I need to and know this ball will come back and hit with energy. So if you’re needing a ball for those later games in league without sacrificing strong hitting power, talk to your PSO about the Wolverine!

Zen Master is a heavy hitter!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 50 x 4.25 x 45

Finish: OOB with light 1500-grit polish

The super popular Zen now has a heavy oil companion in the Zen Master. If you’ve been needing a ball with teeth and power, look no further. This ball is made for long or heavy patterns, it is one of the biggest pieces in my arsenal. I don’t see heavy oiled patterns that often, so I decided to experiment and added a light amount of 1500-grit polish so that it would mimic lane shine and retain energy for me to play on more medium – medium heavy patterns. This turned out fantastic as my opening game ball for my league! This ball is a heavy rolling piece that shreds racks! Earlier than my Phaze 2, Reality and Idol pieces that I can use early in league and tournament play before transition kicks in as I couldn’t move too far left with this one due to my lower speed. If you’re a lower rev player or a speed dominant player, this one will definitely fit in your arsenal!

Zen U is the one for U!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-5/8 x 3/4 up, 380 RPM, 13* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 45 x 4 x 30

The Zen U is the newest urethane piece by 900 Global. I drill all my urethane pieces pretty strong with 4” pins above the ring finger. For me this urethane provides more backend motion than any other urethane I’ve thrown. Pitch Black is the soonest, then my Fast Pitch, then Zen U. Zen U probably has the most backend of these three where I feel I can stand left and throw it right to the friction, almost reactive type reaction. So if you’re looking for a different motion as a urethane option, give Zen U a try as this definitely has a look all it’s own!

The Exotic Gem has quickly become one of my favorite pieces in league. I drilled mine 5-1/4” pin with a 2” pin buffer which put the pin high above my bridge. What I didn’t anticipate is how much this thing HOOKS!!! For me, this is cleaner but much bigger than my Infinite Physix. When this piece hits friction, it turns over pretty hard and simply throws pins everywhere! It’s not quick off the spot, a bit slower to transition, but once it changes motion, watch out! This hooks pretty well in oil as well and have used this as a transition piece after my Phaze 2 starts to burn up and I want to move things inside a bit. If your looking for hook, you’ve found it in this one for sure!

Roto Grip Hyped is well…..HYPED UP!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 40 x 5.25 x 45

Finish: OOB

For those of us you that remember the Nomad line and wished it would be reintroduced, well, this is pretty close to that! Welcome the Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid! I’ve been looking forward to this one and believe me it didn’t disappoint! The VTC Coverstock is pretty aggressive even with 1500 polish on it, it can read the midlane pretty aggressively. I went with a taller, longer pin layout and kicked the CG right 45* as I wanted to use this to really open up my angles. Normally I hit 1500 OOB with some surface, but this ball did not need that whatsoever. This ball reads sooner than expected, not skid flippy mind you, but a definitely a strong motion off the backend that goes thru the pins with a certain aggression! This ball is cleaner and a bit longer than the Zen, but more backend reaction which is great when my Zen runs out of room as I move inside but still want a bigger piece before moving down to a UC2 or IQ Tour Emerald. There will be lots of Hype over the Hyped, so go pre-order one or hit up a Matchmaker and test one out if possible. For an HP2, you’re gonna get tremendous value and a pin destroyer!

For those of us you that remember the Nomad line and wished it would be reintroduced, well, this is pretty close to that! Welcome the Roto Grip Hyped line! I've been looking forward to this one and believe me it didn't disappoint! In comparison to the Hyped Hybrid, the pearl is a step down with more push in the front and good recovery in the back. I wouldn't say that it is hockey stick motion off the back, but just below strong-motion off the back for more controlled motion when the Hyped Hybrid runs out of room on the left side forcing your angle to be too deep. I always hit my surface with a light 3000 so my pearls can read the midlane a bit sooner and did the same. I can see this in play on medium-light to dry lanes, again not skid-flippy which can be hard to control, but an option to open up the lanes without sacrificing control with quality aggression thru the pins. There will be lots of Hype over the Hyped line, so go pre-order one or hit up a Matchmaker and test one out if possible. For an HP2, you're gonna get tremendous value and a pin destroyer!

Roto Grip Idol Helios is honor scores in a box!

Ball Layout: 55 x 5 x 45

Finish: OOB

The return of the very popular Idol comes in the bright orange Helios!! This ball, before was even released, was putting up honor scores including a 900! I drilled mine similar to my original Idol, pin up above bridge and left OOB. Compared to the original, this one is definitely cleaner, strong, with more of an arc than the original Idol. Earlier than the Phaze II so it fits between Zen Master and Phaze II. I will say the more oil shine that gets into the ball, the more I like the reaction. If you liked the original Idol, you’ll like this one as a refresh. Honor scores are waiting for ya to grab!!!

Since the introduction of the Idol and the Idol Pearl, it was only inevitable that RG would release a hybrid version. Ta da!!!!! This ball is exactly what we Idol enthusiasts were hoping for. In comparison to the Phaze 3, this ball is smaller, cleaner, later with an aggressive backend. I drilled my Synergy with a strong 4” pin position placing it up and right of the ring finger. As with all polished finishes, I lightly hit this ball with 3000 to get it to read the mids earlier. I felt I can really open up a lane where there is still a bit of oil in the fronts but need bigger pop on the backend where a pearl is just to clean creating over/under. This is going to be another house killer and is a lot of fun to throw! So if the Idol was too early or Phaze 3 is too big, then this will definitely fill that gap where you need a strong symmetrical hybrid to run up the score!

Given the popularity of the X-1 it was inevitable that the pearl version was going to come out with the X-2. I used my usual pin over bridge, CG kicked right layout to see how this would complement not only my X-1, but see how different it was to the Rubicon UC2. For me, the X-2 and UC2 are very similar but with some distinct differences. The UC2, for me, is more angular and faster off the spot and has more of the hockey stick motion. The X-2 is earlier and stronger with a bit more control with great continuation. I decided to hit the X-2 with some surface just to widen the gap a bit and now I feel I have it dialed in when transition requires me to move in but still need something to read the mid-lanes sooner than the UC2. Go check out the Roto Grip X-2 as I believe you will really enjoy this house shot killer!

Hands down, the Rubicon has quickly become one my favorite, more versatile balls in my arsenal for medium to heavy oil conditions. I almost passed on this ball but decided to give a shot and man I’m glad I did. I drilled this ball 5-1/2 pin that placed it under my middle finger and PSA kicked right for a controlled motion front to back. In two back to back Masters tourneys, this ball helped me lead qualifying in both those tourneys! This has such a nice controlled motion front to back and the carry is just tremendous! The shape of this block really does feel as if I drilled a 4th hole that’s no longer allowed. I drilled a 2nd one pin up with less surface and once again the motion is still strong yet controllable. One of the most versatile and reliable pieces and when you see pros consistently throw this, you know it’s good. Go get you one today!!

For anyone that has enjoyed success with the Rubicon and the Halo Pearl, you will really like the UC2!!! I drilled this similar to my old Halo Pearl wich was a 5.5” pin over middle finger and PSA kicked right. For me, the UC2 is very skid/flip motion, cleaner than the Halo Pearl was but generally quicker off the spot. I can see using this in the later games where my angles need to get steep and I need the quick recovery. Amazing piece that allows me to open up the lane and tear ‘em up!!!

Roto Grip cracked the urethane code with the UC3!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 65 x 5.5 x 65

Finish: 2000

This tweener couldn’t have been more excited to see that I could FINALLY throw a urethane ball I can bend on the backend!!! I was skeptical at another urethane attempt, but after watching some other ball reviews, I gave UC3 a shot. Now, the Rubicon is by far my all-time favorite ball, and the core combined with this pearl urethane (yes, it’s urethane only, no resin!), I was able to get shape more down lane vs. so much upfront. My layout puts the pin under my middle finger and PSA in the thumb. I can play up the boards and even get left and this ball comes back and has the 6 pin snap out the 10, very few weak 10’s!!! This hits like a tank! I would recommend a longer pin layout, at least 5” pin as this will still be early. In fact, I took mine up to 2000 to get it a bit cleaner thru the fronts.

For those of us who don’t have a ton of revs and need urethane option when the lanes get squirrely, GO GET THE UC3, nuff said!!!

The TNT is the newest strong symmetric piece by Roto Grip. After seeing the numbers on this ball, I was need of a strong, controlled piece in my tournament arsenal and that’s exactly what I got. I drilled mine 4-1/4” pin under my ring which gets this piece rolling early and control the backend for fresh sport shots, shorter sport patterns, or the first couple of games of league. This ball is big and early which can be a great control piece with big hitting power! I really don’t see this as a “stand left, throw right” piece as the cover is very strong. Polish can be added to increase skid and retain more energy on the backend. This will be a benchmark piece for sure where this ball can tell you what the lanes are giving you. If you’re looking for an early rolling piece, this one will not disappoint with its hitting power!!

Ball Layout: 40 x 5 x 50

Finish: OOB

Roto Grip has reported another UFO landing and this one is a winner for sure! One of the biggest feedbacks I heard was that customers liked the original UFO but it was too big. The UFO Alert takes care of that with the eTrax Hybrid Reactive coverstock combined with the original E.T. Core. This core really keeps the pins low with great readable motion and continuation. For me, pin over bridge CG kicked just a smidge from the thumb. I did hit the surface slightly with 3000 for the ball to pick up the midlane a bit sooner, but this ball reads the front to back very very easily. For an asymmetric, this ball has a strong arch motion that’s controllable, reads the midlane extremely well which is important on sport conditions. A great transition piece to have for tourneys but will also score well on typical house shots! Great colors, go check one out at your local pro shop today!

I’ve been looking for a UFO Alert replacement since last year’s ban. Well, Absolute is pretty darn close to this replacement, and I couldn’t be happier. I would say the Absolute is a smidge less on the backend from the original UFO Alert. I drilled my Absolute for control, pin under middle with PSA kicked far right. This gives me a lot of control off the backend for either fresh or to manage the pocket when the sport shot or transition calls for it. I took mine back to 500,1000, 1500 grit polish as I felt Reacta Gloss was a bit too clean and wanted more teeth under the finish. Shot 300 the following week in my sport league! For me, the Absolute isn’t hockey stick, but more strong control off the backend which is perfect for sport shots! Go get one of these today!!!

The Axiom pearl is HUGE!!! I am a big fan of the original Axiom so it was a no brainer for me to grab this one and add to my arsenal. I decided to drill this ball pin below the bridge with a 5” pin. What I didn’t anticipate is how big this ball really is. I have to stand pretty far left unless there is a bit more volume up front. However, I can get pretty far left and this ball finishes with anger every time! This is by far the strongest pearl in my arsenal which creates a unique spot in my arsenal. This ball would be ideal for speed dominant or rev challenged players who need that big backend help. Go talk to your local PSO about this one and go bowl up a Storm!

Storm has brought back the successful RAD4 core that was used in the Code Black and combined that with the new ReX pearl coverstock. Now, I was really hoping that this was going to be a Code Black relaunch as that ball was something special. I drilled my Dark Code with my previous Code Black layout putting pin over bridge, CG kicked right and boom, the left turn signal came on and it made a HARD left! The hard read off the backend was a bit too much for my liking, very hockey stick motion and definitely bigger than the original Code Black. I hit it by hand with 3000 and that did the trick. This ball has done very well for me on houses that have Anvil/harder surfaces or longer oil sport conditions. So if your needing a bigger, strong pearl talk to your pro shop about the Dark Code and as always bowl up a Storm!

Green Light on the Storm Hyroad Max!!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 50 x 4.25 x 45

Finish: 3000

Storm has brought back another Hyroad to the mix in the Hyroad Max. For me, the Hyroad series has been hit and miss with my tweener style as high RG, rollier balls sometimes doesn’t match up to my style. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by how the Hyroad Max rolls as it is much bigger off the spot than I anticipated! I decided to take it up to 3000 and get some lane shine built in to get the ball down the lane better for me. I will say that this ball is a situational piece when my Phaze 2 or Axiom are too early and my Hybrids still miss the spot, that’s where this piece comes in. I fell I can play down and in or open it up a bit with this piece. And the smell is something terrific so bonus! Go see your pro shop and ask about how the Hyroad Max can elevate your game!

Storm Proton Physix has hoooooook!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 50 x 5.5 x 50

Finish: OOB

For anyone that has enjoyed the Physix series will welcome this newest addition to that series. The AstroPhysix is one my absolute all-time favorites but always felt the cover on the Physix didn’t quite match up with my game. BUT, that’s not what I’m seeing out of the Proton Physix, for a big ball, this piece is versatile! I drilled my ball with a long pin placing the pin over the middle finger and 3” PSA as I wanted clean but strong controlled motion. I tested this on the 46’ Johnny Petraglia and it handled that oil nooooo problem! As I kept moving left, it kept racing back and didn’t lose its energy going thru the pins. Very impressive! If you’re in the market for a bigger piece, don’t look past the Proton, there’s something special in that piece just in time for Xmas!

Not gonna lie, when the Spectre was taken out of my hands, I was pretty bummed. So I couldn’t have been more thrilled for the remake in the Revenant! I drilled mine 5-1/4 pin with a 2” pin buffer which put my pin high above the bridge. I also hit mine with a 3000 abralon pad to take some of the OOB polish off to read the midlane sooner. WOWZA! Didn’t expect this much hook! I would say that this is close to the original Spectre, with great midlane read and a strong, arc-type motion to the pocket. Where this piece shines is probably league shot, this piece will create some honor scores, no doubt! Go talk to your PSO about getting this league killer in your bag today!

Storm Trend 2 is the sequel you’ll want to experience!

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation

Ball Layout: 50 x 4.25 x 35

Finish: OOB

Storm continues its collaboration with Jason Belmonte with the newest piece, the Trend 2. This hybrid incorporates NRG with the revamped core that produces a high RG 2.54 that really creates a motion that is very clean thru the front. I drilled mine with 4-1/4” pin, pin high over ring finger that produced a clean motion thru the front with a moderately strong motion on the backend. What I noticed from this piece is that the continuation is actually an upgrade from the original Trend. I had recently punched up the new Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid and in comparison, the Trend 2 is cleaner with less backend than the Hyped Hybrid which is a great complement where I can stay in the Trend 2 longer if the fronts are too aggressive for the Hyped to clear. Great color combination makes it easy to read the ball, another great transition piece to consider adding to your arsenal. Scheduled to be released oct 29th!
