Likes: The ball is clean through the heads and strong off the spot. I would not say it is exactly the Altered Reality but is pretty darn close if you’re looking for a replacement. I love that I’m able to play all parts of the lane with this ball on a THS. This is my new benchmark ball, first out the bag for league night.

Dislikes: Ball got a little dirty quickly and needed to be cleaned and polished to get the pop back, other than that no complaints so far.

This ball is STRONG!!! When there is a heavy volume of oil this is the ball for you. This ball reminds me a lot of the Super Nova when it comes to ball motion. The strong core and cover combo makes this ball grab the lane early but still stores enough energy to drive through the pins with power. I did notice this ball lane shines up quite quickly so you may want to adjust the cover if you’re looking to keep the ball rolling early.

The ball loves oil!! This ball just grabs the lanes and hooks. This ball will be a staple in my tournament bag for a while to come. The cover and core allow it to read in the heaviest of conditions for the reaction you need.

The Harsh Reality Pearl is a strong Asymmetrical Pearl that provides great length and strong backend reaction. This ball is the closest I’ve seen to the Altered Reality to date. I drilled mine pin down due to the fact that I did not have a strong assym pearl drilled pin down so this one is not quite as strong off the spot as normal but that was by intention. This is a great ball to get left on the fresh. If your looking for a strong assym pearl then look no further.

The Origin features the 93 Hybrid Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Ellipse Asymmetric A.I. core. The all-new Power Edge polish makes this ball a gamechanger. This ball is clean and super responsive down lane. This ball reminds me a lot of the Harsh Reality Pearl but in hybrid form so it a touch earlier but just as strong. This is a great game one ball on house shot.

The Sublime is super clean through the front of the lanes and just pops on the back end. I drilled this ball a bit weaker than my Journey and created the perfect 1-2 punch. When the Journey starts to go a little too early, I can switch to the Sublime and not have to move a board.

The New 900 Global Sublime Focus features the 804 Solid Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Immersed Symmetric AI core. The Sublime Focus gives me great length for a solid ball but still stores enough energy to really pop down lane.

When I first saw the Xponent I thought it was a TNT with different colors, but this ball stands alone. The Xponent is not afraid of oil for a symmetrical ball. Nice clean roll, great midlane reaction with continuous drive through the pins. My only complaint so far is that there seems to be a few balls released recently that fit into the same spot in the bag as the Xponent but if you’re in the market for a strong symmetrical ball with some surface look no further.

The Xponent Pearl is everything I expected from the Xponent line. This ball is the perfect complement to the original Xponent. This ball and clean and continuous on the backend. This is my go to ball when the lanes start to burn up and I need a ball to get through the fronts without loosing energy in the back end.

The Zen 25 from 900 Global features the brand new Reserve Blend 83 Pearl Reactive Cover stock wrapped around the trusted Meditate Symmetric weight block with AI Core. The Power Edge polish allows the ball to read earlier then expected but still allows continuation on the back end. For me this ball was much earlier than I expected, which makes it a great choice for a fresh house shot. I was hoping this ball would replace my Optimum Idol Pearl, but the Zen 25 is much earlier and stronger allowing me to have both in my bag.

Continuing with a reoccurring theme I’m sure you all have heard “Zen Ball Good”. The Zen Gold Label is no exception to that rule. This ball has quickly become the first ball out of the bag for me no matter what the shot is. I’ve had great luck on house shot as well as sport patterns. The ball gets through the front of the lane with ease and then makes a predictable turn to the pocket from anywhere. I have not found any flaws in this ball so far. I thought the original Zen would be hard to live up to but the Gold Label is quickly becoming top tier just like the original.

This ball was the perfect compliment to the UC3 and Pitch Black. I’m not one to throw urethane too often but when I do the Zen U is now my go to ball. This ball is super smooth and controllable. When the UC3 is too much, but the Pitch Black is not quite enough, this ball will be the perfect filler. When you need to keep the ball in front of you this is the one to accomplish that. The Zen U is the best comparison to the Purple Hammer that SPI offers.

The Attention Star gave me a reaction I have not seen out of a SPI ball in quite a while. This ball gets through the fronts easily, has a strong midlane reaction, and then smooth backend. Even with a smoother backend this ball hits like a truck. This ball quickly became the first ball out of my bag for league.

Drilled this ball to replace my X-Cell and it was everything I wanted it to be. Even though it comes out of the box with some surface, it still gets down the lane and packs a punch on the backend. The has been my new game one ball for league.

The Clone is a strong ASym that provides you all the backend pop you need. This ball is super angular, maybe a bit too much on a fresh house shot but as the lanes start to transition and you need to move deeper this is going to be my go too ball. No matter how far left I move it still find a way to recover and get to the pocket with enough energy to strike.

Dare I say this is the Zen 2.0? I put the same layout on the Duo as I did my original Zen and if it was not for the awesome color scheme I would not be able to tell the difference. This ball is clean through the heads, picks up nicely in the mid lane, and really pops off the end of the pattern. Plus 5% goes to the Big Brother Big Sisters, I’ll take a 2nd one for sure.

Likes: One of the cleanest and strongest Pearl balls since the Altered Reality. This ball gets down the lane and makes a left turn. Just as good as the original, great 1-2 punch on a THS or pattern. This ball will be in the bag for a long time. So good I might drill 2.

The Hustle line is one of the best values for your dollar. The Hustle BRY is no exception to that. The Hustle BRY is super clean and long, then reads the dry with enough energy to carry all day.

The Hustle M&M is the ball I go to when the heads start to fry up. This ball goes a mile down the lane and then just unloads on the pins. This ball is great if you’re looking for something that will not read early but still make the turn down lane. I find this ball is great for me in game 3 of a 5-person league. A great value and color scheme make it a fantastic choice for beginners looking to learn to hook the ball as well.

The Hustle RIP is the ball I have been waiting for to replace my Hustle Camo. I never had the Hustle Ink but everything I’ve seen from the RIP so far tells me this is the next best thing, maybe even better. Out of the box it gave me plenty of length and a strong back end. This will be a great ball for high rev players on house shots or for when the heads get fried, and you need some length with finish you can trust. This is easily a $200 value at a entry level price. This will the be ball I recommend to any new bowler just getting started.

This ball is STRONG!!! When there is a heavy volume of oil this is the ball for you. This ball has been the perfect fit between the original Gem and the Exotic Gem. This ball gives me good length, a strong midlane reaction, and plenty of pop to kick out the corner pins. The Magic Gem is super versatile, I’ve used the ball with surface and with polish and either way the ball continues to perform.

The Roto Grip Rock Star features the Nano Star Solid reactive cover stock wrapped around the Rocker+ AI Core. This ball is a hook monster. It comes out of the box at 2000 grit Abralon which was too much for me on a typical house shot. I took the surface up to 3000 on a spinner and this ball really shined. The surface change gave the ball the length I needed to get through the heads and when this ball hit the pocket it sounded like an explosion, this ball hits like a truck. Another great ball from the Roto Grip line of products.

Fresh off the press 258 - 279 - 233 for 780.

I did not expect to be able to throw this ball with the out of box surface being at 2000 grit, but not only did it strike, but it struck all night. I fully expected that I'd throw a few shots then put it away before I took it to 3000, where I thought I'd need it, but this ball rolled great right off the press. Strong in the mid lane but still continuous on the back end. Normally, for me, balls with that much surface will make its move and then just roll out. The TNT, however, it just kept digging and hits like a truck. I really like the way it shapes up in the mid-lane, if your looking for mid-lane reaction and continuous drive, this is the ball for you. This one might stay in the bag for a while. Contemplating drilling a 2nd one to polish, might be just as good.

This ball has been something special. Great length with consistent and controllable back end. This ball has been great on a fresh house shot, given that I have a good amount of revs, and has been even better as the lanes start to break down. This ball looks great as well, who doesn’t love a good-looking ball that preforms??

My first impression is this will be the first ball out of my bag on league night. Strong mid lane reaction with plenty of continuous motion to kick the corner pins. There wasn’t a spot on the lane that I did not feel comfortable throwing this ball. Might need to hit the surface just a bit, maybe 3000 if you don’t bowl on a shot with plenty of oil but I think as this ball lane shines up it will just get better and better.

The new Roto Grip X-Cell reminds me a lot of the Storm Absolute Power. It is cleaner through the front of the lanes than most Assym Solids, and still picks up nicely in the mid lane, but due to the fact it’s cleaner it still has plenty of energy through the pins. This ball will be really good for anyone who has lower rev rate or higher ball speed on your typical house shots. For anyone who loved the original Cell this ball will provide that nostalgia you’re looking for.

Likes: Clean through the heads, strong in the mid lane, continuous backend. Was pretty good on a THS, but might be even better on a pattern. Out of the box it seems like a great ball for someone with lower ball speed and lower rev rate.

Dislikes: Picked up a bit later than I was expecting, had to knock off a bit of the polish to get the ball where it needed to be to thrive.

Absolute Power gives me a strong midlane roll with continuation through the pins. I opted to go with a pin down layout to provide a smooth continuous motion that I can use on a typical house shot. This ball is on the weaker side compared to other asymmetrical solids, so it was a perfect match for my higher rev rate on a house shot. For me this ball fits perfectly between the Eternity Pi and the Virtual Energy Blackout if you’re looking for a ball to fill that gap.

300 game one out of the box and fresh off the press. The DNA is strong in the mid lane and continuous on the back end. Out of the box surface rolls similar to the Super Nova but a bit cleaner. I love the way this ball reads the lane in the oil. Haven’t thrown it on a patter yet but I would imagine this ball will be a staple on tour this season. Can’t wait to see how good it is with a bit of lane shine, thinking it only gets better from here. This ball may be my go-to ball on the fresh for quite a while. Bonus point for the scent, this ball smells good, only 2nd to the new IQ Ruby.

Wow this ball is awesome, super clean through the front part of the lane and boy does it pack a punch on the backend. This ball reminds me a lot of the Exotic Gem. If you’re looking for a long and strong Assym this is the ball for you, oh and it smells amazing as well.

Another great option in the Electrify line up. This ball is everything you would expect from a entry level bowling ball. Goes super long and just flips off the end of the pattern. Perfect ball for when the heads get really dry or if your new to the game and want a pretty ball that gives you great bang for your buck.

The Storm Equinox features the A1S Pearl Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Solarion AI Core. When Storm said this ball was designed for patterns between 39-44 feet, they were right. This ball reminds me of the original Attention Star. It is clean through the fronts and then has a nice smooth controllable backend. I expected this ball to be strong and angular but its quite the opposite. The smooth controllable backend makes it a great option for a house shot when you want to control the pocket and minimize through the face splits due to sharp angles.

Likes: Clean through the heads, strong backend reaction. Great 3rd game ball for my bag. For me the ball did not like seeing oil early in the league session. This ball was great after the lanes started to transition and I could not throw my benchmark Zen anymore.

Dislikes: Pretty comparable to the Phase V in my opinion, just a bit stronger. Not different enough on a typical house shot to have both in the bag. Tournament bag however, definitely.

The New Storm Ion Max features the Storm NRG Solid Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Storm Element Max AI Asymmetrical Core. I drilled 2 of these balls because it is so good. I drilled one with a short pin to pap layout to allow myself to combat over/under reaction at my primary league house. This layout provided me a smooth but controlled reaction which allows me to play straighter on a dry league condition. The 2nd Ion Max I put a much stronger layout which allows me to play in the oil on heavier conditions. The Ion Max gives me a good amount of length for a solid but plenty of backend to kick out the corners. If your looking for a heavy oil ball this is the ball for you.

Storm's New Benchmark Ball, the Ion Pro, is everything you want it to be.  The Ion Pro fits perfectly between the IQ Tour and the Phaze II just like the advertising states.  For me this ball starts up strong in the midlane and continues through the pins with power.  I'm excited to see how this ball rolls with some lane shine.  This is will my go to ball on medium patterns to feel out the lanes.

This ball has that controlled, early urethane reaction with the hardness compliance of the PBA tour in 2024. Very smooth predictable reaction which is very comparable to the Pitch Black.

This ball is so clean through the heads but still has the pop you’re looking for on the back end. Never had the IQ Emerald but all the buzz seems to lead me to believe this is the IQ Emerald 2.0. I had been missing that mid line ball for when the lanes start to transition and heads get burned up. This ball will allow you to stay right longer as everyone is migrating left. Bonus points for the scent, this is by far the best smelling Storm ball to date.

To be honest, none of the Belmo balls have really fit my style so I was not super excited for this one. Out of the box the ball was super long and very snappy. I really struggled with over/under. I decided to knock the shine off the ball by taking it to 3000 and what a difference. This has been my go-to ball ever since. At 3000 this ball gives me good length with controllable and predictable back end. This ball has been a house shot killer for me.

The Level features an all-new cover stock material, the RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix), which is wrapped around the Equalizer AI Core. This ball, in my opinion, is the Storm equivalent to the Hammer NU Blue. This ball is the perfect bridge between Urethane and Reactive. As someone who struggles to throw Urethane, this ball is exactly what I needed. When most bowlers are throwing Urethane, I’ll be throwing my Level with similar results. I tried my Level on a few different house shots and the ball seemed to check very early, which is to be expected from a Urethane alternative. If you’re like me and do not seem to have the revs for urethane then look no further than the Level.

This ball is GOOD!!! Based on the numbers I was expecting something similar to the IQ Ruby, but the REX cover is much stronger. The ball gives me good length, solid midland reaction, and a strong backend. The REX cover is quickly becoming my favorite cover stock from Storm. The Lightning Blackout seems to be a bit earlier and stronger than The Road, so it gives me a great 1-2 punch on house shots.

The Storm Phaze AI features the TX-16 Pearl Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Velocity AI Core and also features the all new smooth edge polish. The first Phaze I drilled with a short pin layout to allow myself to combat over/under reaction at my primary league house. This ball give me a nice smooth roll with plenty of backend pop and hitting power. My 2nd AI I drilled with a typical long and strong layout. The smooth edge polish in combination with the TX-16 Pearl Reactive cover gave me a reaction I’ve never seen from Storm in the past. The ball really dug its teeth in the mid lane but still was clean and strong on the backend. When this ball made its move, it continued through the pins with more power then any other Storm Pearl I’ve thrown in the past.

The PhysiX Blackout features the NEX Pearl Reactive cover stock at a 2000 grit Abralon finish wrapped around the Atomic AI Core. This ball not only looks great, smells great, but rolls great. I drilled this ball to be a touch weaker than my Attention Star S2 and has been the perfect complement. Once my S2 starts to burn up I can switch to the PhysiX Blackout and not move a board. The Blackout gives me good length for a ball that is 2000 out of the box, and due to the surface, it reads the midlane and still packs a punch on the backend due to the pearl cover. This ball is a must have!!!

Likes: The ball is super clean through the heads and strong off the spot. I was shocked at how consistent this ball is off the end of the pattern. I was expecting this to be a 3rd game ball but I can easily throw it all night with no issues. The further left I got the better the ball looked as the night went on. Great ball for any bag.

Dislikes: No complaints so far.

The Road Warrior features the R2S Deep Pearl Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Inverted FE2 A.I. Core. This ball is super clean through the heads but really packs a punch on the backend. I was hoping this ball would replace my lightning black out at the bottom of the bag but its just too strong for that. The ball has been my go-to ball down in late game 2. The new smooth edge polish just makes this ball stronger.

I am so pleased with the Summit so far. This is the ball I have been looking for to replace my Phaze II. This ball starts up in the mid lane and still drives through the pins. This is a great game one ball for a higher rev player on house shots. The ball does seem to lane shine up quickly so you might need to tweak the surface every few sets to maintain the reaction your looking for.

The New Summit Ascent features the Centripetal HD A.I. core wrapped in R2S solid reactive cover stock. The Summit Ascent gives me a strong midlane reaction but still stores enough energy to pop on the back end. This ball is the perfect match up for a fresh house shot given my higher rev rate. For me the Summit Ascent is a bit stronger than the original Optimum Idol if your looking for a comparison.

Summit Peak is another great Symmetrical Pearl from the SPI brand. This ball is super clean and responsive down lane. When you need a ball to get left and know its going to recover then this is the ball for you. On the fresh it was a little too angular for me but when the lanes start to transition, and I have to move left this ball starts to really shine. A great 1-2 combo between the Summit and the Peak.

The ball has quickly become my favorite ball. The Road is clean through the heads, starts up in the midlane and then booms on the backend. I was able to shoot 300 out of the box and then followed it up with another 300 games 3 the following week so it is great on fresh and transition. This is a great benchmark ball for someone with higher rev rate.

This ball has quickly become my go to ball when the lanes hook early. The clean cover does require some friction for this ball to really shine. This ball is super clean through the front of the lane and reads the back end extremely well.
