ROTO GRIP ALL OUT SHOW OFF

The Show Off was a total surprise, and then you released the All Out Show Off and it was even a bigger surprise. My practice center puts out a 41’ house shot on synthetic. It’s a fairly heavy oiled pattern. I started of throwing the regular Show Off just a few shots to get an ideal on how slick the pattern was playing. Then I went to the All Out Show Off, I started a little straighter with it than the Show Off, but I really didn’t have to. The All Out Show Off at box finish just cleared the fronts and picked up in the mid lane and was continuous through the pins. As I bowled several games with it, I kept moving left and never lost any ball motion for my game. These two ball will amaze most all bowlers especially for the price.

I got to use this ball for the first time at the July High Roller. Out of the gate with the Bandit, I was impressed. I made some bad shots out wide and it hooked back and I missed in a little and it pushed down the lane and still finished. When I got home, I took the Bandit, a Mutant Pearl and a Nomad Pearl to the bowling center with all three balls 1500 polish and on a house shot. The Bandit and the Mutant Pearl were close, but the Bandit out hooked the Nomad Pearl by several boards. So I bowled several games with the Bandit and it was as strong when I got finished as it was when I started. For a pearl cover stock ball it really read the mid-lane very good. This Bandit and Outlaw to me may be the best two ball combo on the market. My game and these balls matched up REALLY WELL!!!!!

ROTO GRIP BERSERK

I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RELEASE OF THE BERSERK BECAUSE THE NOMAD DAGGER WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. AS USUAL, I BOWLED WITH THIS BALL FIRST ON A 39' HOUSE SHOT AND I MUST SAY THIS BALL DID NOT DISAPPOINT. WITH THE BOX FINISH, I HAD TO OPEN THE LANE UP BECAUSE THIS BALL HOOKS!!!! BUT AS FAR AS GETTING DOWN, THAT'S NOT A PROBLEM AS LONG AS THERE IS SOME OIL. THE BALL REALLY READS THE MID LANE VERY GOOD WITH THE STRONGEST MOST CONTINUOS BACK END MOVE I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME. AFTER SEVERAL GAMES WITH THE BOX FINISH, I APPLIED SOME REACTA CLEAN NO POLISH AND IT SHINED IT UP PRETTY GOOD. I THEN THREW IT ON THE HOUSE SHOT. I COULD PLAY A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE FRICTION WITH ABSOLUTELY THE SAME RESULTS. THIS BALL WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

The first chance that I got to throw it was at the TAT. It reads the mid lane so well you'd think you were throwing a solid. It is stronger and more angular off of the spot than the Infinite Theory. It really plays well for me on medium patterns. When I got home and used it on a house shot, it rolled really well on them fresh but as they dried out it got to burning up a little quick. So I took it and applied some polish on it and then it came back to life, and I never lost my reaction. I kept on moving left and it continued to strike. I never moved to far left for me that it didn't recover. The box finish on this ball makes it react on slicker oil patterns where you normally wouldn't think about using a pearl. ONE AWESOME BALL!!

Dare Devil

What a great release in the HP3 line. This is going to be my favorite ball ever....I have thrown this ball on just about all patterns. I have put more polish on it for dryer patterns and have dulled it down on some heavier patterns. On the dryer patterns, I never had any problem getting the Dare Devil down the lane, and with the backend that this ball has the amount of miss room I had was ridiculous. This will be my American Express Card, never leave home without a Dare Devil or three in my bag. For me I feel that this ball and I can pretty much match up to most any lane condition. The ease the Dare Devil gets down the lane, the read in the mid lane and the strong continuation through the pins are absolutely awesome. Can't wait until the solid Dare Devil Trick comes out. This one-two Punch is sure to knock out the competition. Excellent job Roto Grip.

ROTO GRIP DARE DEVIL DANGER

Well, I’m not sure where to start. I have a strong feeling this Dare Devil Danger will soon become my favorite Roto Grip ball of all time. I took the Dare Devil Trick, Dare Devil Pearl and the Dare Devil Danger to my practice center. Started with the Dare Devil Trick on a pretty heavy 41’ house shot on synthetic lane service, after a few games I went to the Dare Devil Pearl for several games, once the pearl started laboring down lane I went to the Dare Devil Danger, and did it ever perform! The more I threw this ball it just got stronger and stronger. Clean through the fronts like the pearl, but has a sharper backend motion than the solid. These are a great line of balls for the price. High hook for a low price. These three balls should be in every bowlers bag. Awesome job!

Dare Devil Trick

Another great release in the HP3 Line. For all of you Disturbed lovers, you've got a new true love in this Dare Devil Trick. I got my Dare Devil Trick to compliment my Dare Devil. I needed a solid cover stock to help with the heavier oil patterns. This Dare Devil Trick did not disappoint. On a THS 39' in length the Dare Devil Trick was smooth through the fronts with a strong arc off of the spot. With more games bowled on the pair, the Dare Devil Trick didn't need huge moves to the left, just a couple of boards made all of the difference. Fresh oil in the ball drop and the Dare Devil Trick reached like you were on a fresh shot once again. With a lot of games being bowled on the pair, I kept chasing the oil in and never lost any down lane motion. This ball has really impressed me as much as the Dare Devil. These two HP3 balls will be a great one two punch on most house shots and all medium to slightly heavier sport patterns. These will be in my bowling bags for a long time. BIG FAN!!!!

For the Dark Star, I took it out on a 39' house shot, using 5th and 6th boards as break point. This ball went longer but was stronger on the backend. I threw several shots with this ball and it gave me more miss room out, but if I missed in it wasn't going to be good. I tried it on a slicker oil pattern, and for me I threw it too firm and don't have enough hand to make it work. This ball will be a great ball for wet dry conditions where you can just throw it right and it will read the mid lane with a strong backend. The Dark Star and Riot are two balls that would be a great fit for any bowler whether a starter or a seasoned bowler. Great job to Hank and everyone at Roto Grip. KING OF THEM ALL!!!

                                                       DEFIANT SOUL

I took my Defiant Soul out for the real test today. I bowled on a 39' house shot. I'm a tweener rev rate around 300, ball speed 15 mph. I first took my Defiant and played 12 to 5 and it looked very good with a strong arc to the pocket. So I then took my Defiant Soul and played the lanes in the same area. Super clean through the fronts with a great big move to the pocket. Talk about hit, this ball will slap pins all over the place. I'm really impressed with this ball. I kept on moving left and never lost my backend motion. The longer I kept it in the oil, the stronger and more angular the backend reaction was. As always, Roto Grip equipment is so easy and acceptable to surface changes. I used some Reacta Clean and Reacta Shine on this ball and it just made it cleaner with more backend motion. It just got stronger and stronger. This ball made me look like I had a lot more hand. I also used it on a 39' sport pattern and took it back down to the box finish. I threw it around 9 out to 6, 7 and the ball didn't disappoint. Clean through the front and strong backend. I can see this ball traveling a lot with me to tournaments. But I don't think you could go wrong with the Defiant Soul for almost all house patterns.

Deranged

The Roto Grip DERANGED is the Pearl version of the very popular and successful DISTURBED, which should be enough said. The Deranged has the same smooth roll through the fronts but has a lot stronger backend reaction due to the pearl cover stock. I was excited when I heard that this ball was coming out. I used my Wrecker on several patterns but due to my lower revs with above average ball speed it would squirt a little for me. But now with the Deranged being stronger than the Wrecker PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!
I've used mine on several lane conditions from house shots to some of the heavier sport patterns. On the house shots it did not disappoint at all. Compared to my Wrecker, (which I love) the Deranged was almost 10 boards stronger. On the sport patterns I could open the lane up more than I would of ever thought I could. This ball really retains a lot of energy for for the backend part of the lane, with a continuous movement through the pins. On the slicker patterns, the Disturbed to start, then once they break down the Deranged.
What a great two ball combo!!! Between these two you'll not see many conditions you can't handle. I can see this ball is a must for any league or tournament bowler.
Great job Roto Grip...

                                                        DISTURBED

WOW!!!! I know this isn't a good review but WOW... Well let me get started, I took this ball to bowl on a 39' house shot. When I tested this ball, I had six other people on this pair because I wanted the lanes to get dried up faster so I could see how long I could use it. I used this ball for about six games before it got to be too early. I'm a tweener around 300 rpm with about 15.5 mph ball speed. For a dull box finish ball, this Disturbed is not disturbing. It'll make your competition Disturbed. This ball doesn't read early but it never seems to lose any energy from the end of the pattern to the pins. I kept this ball in the oil around the fifteenth board and went out to the fifth board and it was so strong when it got to the backends. On the 40' sport pattern, I really liked what this ball had to offer...clean through the fronts and a strong backend motion. I generated more room with the Disturbed than I could with most of my other Roto Grip equipment. Then going back to the house shot after a small surface change with just a little Reacta Clean, the ball started going a little longer with the same strong backend movement. I feel like with the backend movement of the Disturbed it'll be a great ball for any heavier house shots and most all of the heavier sport patterns.

OH YEAH!!!!! THIS BALL IS AWESOME. OLD SCHOOL. I TOOK THE GRENADE AND USED IT ON A 35' FLAT PATTERN. THIS BALL WAS AMAZING. IT READ THE DRY BOARDS AND MADE A NICE SMOOTH MOVE TO THE POCKET. I WAS PLAYING UP 2nd & 3rd BOARD. I KNEW THIS BALL WAS GOING TO BE GOOD, JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD. WITH THE SMOOTHER MOVE TO THE POCKET, IT KEPT THE PINS ALIVE AND DANCING AROUND ON THE PIN DECK. THIS BALL WOULD BE A MUST FOR ANYONE, BUT THE HIGH REV PLAYERS WOULD REALLY LIKE IT. AS THE CONDITION OF THE LANES BROKE DOWN, I STAYED IN PLAY WITH THE GRENADE. GREAT JOB.

HOT CELL

Let me start off by saying WOW, WOW and WOW. That maybe enough for this ball review.
The first time I got to throw this ball, I took it and my Pitch Black. The center that I practiced on is a 39' medium volume house shot.
I got lined up with the Pitch Black and then went to the Hot Cell. I had it in my mind that it would be stronger but wasn't sure how much. So the first shot I moved three boards left with my feet and used the same target. Well three was not enough. So I then moved three more left with my feet and moved my eyes in as well, and this shot went four pin high. So moved two more left and that when the WOW came back into play. I am not a high rev player, but this ball really turns up. As much motion and flare the Hot Cell is really continuous through the pins. It's really surprising to me that it is a urethane cover. As the lanes dried out I could keep moving left and the Hot Cell kept recovering. I have seen other staffers that are straighter players, that can make a home playing up the boards. I believe this ball would benefit any league bowler and every tournament bowler. Great job Roto Grip.

ROTO GRIP HUSTLE HYB

Once again so much bang for your buck! Shelf appeal excellent, ball reaction excellent and hit through the pins incredible! With the Hustle Hybrid, I first took a look with my Hustle solid and got line up with it, after a few shots of playing 8 to 5 or miss room out to one the Hustle solid was clean as always. Went to the Hustle Hybrid and played the same shot, the Hustle Hybrid was earlier and picked up the mid lane a little quicker. Both balls were box finish. So I made a 3 and 1 move left and just that small of a move made all of the difference in the world. This made the Hustle HYB get the extra length I needed and picked up in the mid lane with a nice controlled backend motion. This allowed me to stay lined up for several games with just slight moves left. The performance of the HP1 line will surprise anyone that hasn’t thrown any of the balls in the line. The Hustle HP1 line will be for most all house shots.

HUSTLE INK

Here we go, anyone that know me, know I'm a BIG fan of the Hustle line. These balls for me let me keep my angles straighter and that's my comfort zone. So now a Hustle solid, that's what I'm talking about. For me buying this ball is like stealing. So much bang for your buck.
The center that I practiced on is a medium volume house shot at 39'. So not knowing how much the Hustle INK would hook I threw the first few shots up the first arrow, and most of them struck. As I got looser I started opening up the lane a little, moving left and starting the ball in around third arrow out to five, six, four and maybe leaked a few to the first board. And it struck, struck and struck so more. After bowling several games at the drier center I went to a center in town that plays slicker. At first with the Hustle INK box finish it labored a little, it had plenty of backend motion but it was a little too long. So I took a used 2000 abralon pad to it and that really brought it to life. I had to soften up my ball speed and really catch it, but I could of used it for sure. DO NOT THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THIS HUSTLE INK is a HP1 ball that it doesn't hook, this ball will amaze you.
I think this ball will work for every high rev players down to the straightest of the straight players.

Hustle POW

These HP1 balls are incredible. Ok folks, can you say awesome....these balls are so good for any house shot or medium to light sport patterns. The Hustles are so smooth through the fronts and a super strong backend motion. I have gotten three of the four different Hustles and with the different layouts, I feel I actually have three totally different balls. One is real smooth with a nice ark to the pocket, the other is a little more angular and the POW is quite strong down lane. I don't think you would go wrong with any of the Hustles. Huge ball for a little money.

Roto Grip Hustle PRO drilled mine pin up. This and the Hustle SAY are similar but the Hustle PRO has more over all hook and more of an angular backend reaction. For me, the Hustle PRO is clean through the fronts but it's earlier than the Hustle SAY. I could move into the oil with the PRO and throw it away from the pocket and it would make the corner with plenty of hit through the pins with little to no deflection. On drier sport patterns, it's as good or maybe a touch better than the Hustle SAY due to the few more boards of over all hook.

Roto Grip Hustle SAY drilled mine pin up. For me, I feel like I've gone back to the 80's. I could stand right and play straight up the boards and at about 45' it'd make a move to the pocket and it hit like a truck. For new league bowlers or someone wanting a new ball without breaking the bank, this ball and the Hustle PRO would be a couple of great choices. Real smooth with plenty of motion and the hit looks like a high end ball. On drier sport patterns, this ball looks great because it's so clean through the fronts. I'm really liking what I'm seeing with these two Hustle balls.

ROTO GRIP HYPER CELL FUSED

This Hyper Cell Fused is going to be one of those balls that stays around for a while. The original Hyper Cell Skid was good, but this ball is amazing!
First off this ball has great shelf appeal as well. So off to do some practice with the Hyper Cell Fused, on a fresh fairly heavy 41’ house shot on synthetic lane surface. The Hyper Cell Fused was super clean through the fronts and responded great in the mid lane with a super strong continuation through the pins. I started off playing 10th board out to 5 and the Hyper Cell Fused didn’t overreact when I hit the drier boards quicker. Wasn’t paying attention to the scores but after two games with it, I had shot 280 and 290. As the lanes broke down moving left was easy, the Hyper Cell Fused stayed clean through the fronts and never lost any backend reaction. For MY game I was able to get further left with recovery from the break point and even with miss room inside and out. With the Hyper Cell Fused ball motion, I can’t wait to throw it on other patterns. As clean and as strong as it is I can’t see much of anything this ball won’t handle. Gonna be a must ball for every style of player.

ROTO GRIP IDOL

Well, when I first heard of the Haywire being discontinued I was upset. It is one of my favorites. Now that I have the Idol there is absolutely no disappointment here anymore. I am very impressed with the new Idol. On a fresh 40’ house shot it was easy to get the Idol through the fronts with a GREAT mid lane read and strong continuation through the pins. One of the biggest thing I have noticed with the Idol is when throwing it with more traffic, I could make smaller moves left than most normal moves with several on the pair. The more I have bowled with my Idol as it now as a littles lane shine, it just gets better and better. With the little bit of lane shine my Idol has it is so clean and strong off of the spot. I know with my Idol at box finish it’ll tackle all heavier oiled oil patterns. I have a few friends with the Idol that has it shiny, and it is super clean and real angular down lane. The Idol is sure to fit in all bowlers arsenals. Great job!!

Idol Pearl

39’ House Shot

The Idol Pearl is Roto Grip’s newest release in the HP3 line, has the Ikon core and the Pearl version of the Hyper Cell Fused coverstock.

First of all, the shelf appeal is amazing!
When the Solid Idol gets too early then the Idol Pearl will keep you in play without moving a lot. Another great one-two punch!
Clean through the fronts with a strong backend finish. For myself, pearls usually don’t match up real well, but with the Idol Pearl it was very forgiving and gave me a lot of miss room in and out. I threw the Idol Pearl on a 40’ sport pattern with medium volume, bowled several games on this pattern and the Idol Pearl just kept getting better. Making small moves left and feeding the ball right, the Idol Pearl was still getting down the lane with the strong backend motion kicking the ten pin to the middle. Great job Roto Grip!

Roto Grip Infinite Theory

When I received my new Infinite Theory, I went and threw it on Kegel's Route 66 pattern. Box finish for me really cleared the fronts extremely well with a STRONG move toward the pocket. But for me box finish was a little too shiny. So I took it down with a 4000 pad just knocking the shine off a little. Big improvement but still not enough for me. So I took a 2000 pad and went over it and that was perfect. The ball still cleared the fronts with ease and read the mid lane perfect and was just as strong on the backend as before but now a strong continuous arc. I compared it to my original Theory and both balls performed very well. The Theory was quicker starting up and strong arcing move to the pocket and the Infinite Theory was cleaner through the fronts with a strong mid lane read and continuous backend movement. These two balls would give you an excellent one two punch.

Let me start out by saying WOW!!!! Great job by everyone at Roto Grip. I bowled with my Mutant Cell drilled with a 5X3 layout on a 39' house shot. I used the ball box finish and it cleared the fronts with ease, and had a real strong backend move. Bowled several games on the house shot and just kept moving left. Never had any problems with the ball reading too early or not finishing. I then took the ball and hit it with a 2000 abralon pad then used Storm Step 2 finish. Then back to the lanes. The ball was super clean through the fronts and more of a angular backend move. I used it several more games with the polished cover before it got to where I couldn't use it.
It needs some oil. I then took it back to box finish and bowled on Kegel's Route 66 pattern and the PBA Shark pattern. The ball was real good on both of these. This ball would be a great fit in anybody's bowling ball aresonal.

With this being Roto Grips last ball for the year, I can't wait to see what y'all have in store for us next year. Thanks for producing the best bowling balls in the Kingdom.

Thanks,

I TOOK MY MUTANT CELL PEARL ALONG WITH MY PEARL CELL AND THREW THEM ON A 39' HOUSE SHOT. I ALWAYS CHANGE THE SURFACE OF EVERY SHINEY BOWLING BALL TO A SURFACE THAT I CAN REDO AS I CAN'T REPRODUCE THE FACTORY FINISH. I TOOK THE CELL PEARL AND PLAYED FROM 9 TO 4, I HAVE MEDIUM SPEED AND I'M A TWEENER. AS ALWAYS THE CELL PEARL WAS SUPER CLEAN THROUGH THE FRONTS WITH A STRONG BACKEND MOVE WITH GREAT HITTING POWER. NOW ONTO THE MUTANT CELL PEARL. THE SAME SHOT AS BEFORE, THE MUTANT CELL PEARL WAS AS CLEAN THROUGH THE FRONTS, WITH A STRONGER MID-LANE MOVE AND A MORE ANGULAR ENTRY INTO POCKET. IT WAS 4 PIN HIGH OR WORSE ON MOST EVERY SHOT. IN ORDER TO THROW THE MUTANT CELL PEARL, I MOVED 4 BOARDS WITH MY FEET AND MOVED MY TARGET IN TO 13 TO 4. WOW!!! THIS BALL WAS RECOVERING IF I MISSED OUT IT HOOKED BACK, AND IT SET UP IF I TUGGED IT IN. FOR A PEARL BALL FOR ME, IT REALLY READ THE MID-LANE EXTREMELY WELL., AND REAL FORGIVING ON AN ERRANT SHOT. IT'S A KEEPER!!! GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE AT STORM AND ROTO GRIP FOR PRODUCING THE BEST BOWLING BALLS IN THE KINGDOM.

Roto Grip No Rules. Drilled mine pin up. My review could be summed up as WOW!!!! The No Rules doesn't play by any rules. For someone like myself that is a tweener, it makes me look like I can hook it. This ball needs oil but on a house shot as long as you have oil in the middle, most all bowlers will be able to use it for a whole league session. As much as the No Rules hooks, it's very forgiving and doesn't burn up if you miss too far right to the dry. On every house shot I've used it on, I could stay inside of everyone on the pair which just generated hold and miss room for me. I have a couple of guys that I bowl with that play real straight and the No Rules off of their hands looks like they have a lot of hand. It clears the fronts and reads the mid lane with strong continuation through the pins. On all of the sport patterns, I've used it on for a big hooking ball it's real easy to get it down the lane with ample backend motion. I'm really gonna like this one.

NO RULES EXIST

Now this is what I'm talking about!! No Rules right Punch, No Rules Pearl left Punch and the No Rules Exist is the knock out Punch. I am a really big fan of the No Rules and the No Rules Pearl and now with the release of the No Rules Exist it's a three balls that can hit any condition from heavy oil to medium light oil patterns.
The center I first threw the Show Off at is generally one of the slicker centers in town at 41'. The track area in this center is second arrow with plenty of conditioner in the middle. For my game starting with the No Rules solid on the lane by myself I can play all day anywhere from twenty five to ten and never lose ball reaction. So I got some other bowlers and we beat up the pair, with most playing inside and a few were left of me. So once the No Rules solid wasn't going through the pins like I needed and I know I could of switched to the No Rules Pearl, but I switched to the No Rules Exist. I moved back right and played pretty close to where I had started with the other No Rules solid. The No Rules Exist never missed a beat, it started striking from this angle and I could keep moving left with plenty of recovery from any angle that I can play with my game. This ball would be a great addition to anyone with the No Rules solid or the No Rules Pearl, it'll complement these other two. Awesome Job!!!!

No Rules Pearl
The new HP4 release is the No Rules Pearl. The No Rules Pearl is drilled to compliment my No Rules solid. It is a lot cleaner through the fronts and is strong off of the dry with a strong continuous movement through the pins. The No Rules Pearl is so strong that I could keep moving left and had no problem kicking the corner pins to the middle. On a house shot I kept getting rewarded for most all questionable shots. The longer I kept the No Rules Pearl in the oil, the stronger the down lane motion was, if I didn't send it out to the dry it would hold pocket and put ten in the pit. For a big ball Pearl this No Rules Pearl doesn't over react but it really reads the mid lane very well. With all Roto Grip and Storm equipment, they take to the smallest surface adjustments, then it's like having a different ball with each adjustment. Another great rolling and hitting ball with great looks. Great ball for all types of bowlers.

The Nomad solid was on a typical house shot 36' in length and buffed to 39' freshly oiled Brunswick synthetic lane surface. I drilled my Nomad solid with the pin in the ring finger and CG 3/4" off of my grip line. I started out playing the lanes straight with an up the back of the ball release, using 7th board as my breakpoint. The ball floated through the fronts and read the midlane with a continuous backend reaction. It threw pins everywhere. I threw several shots like this. Then I moved everything left 10 with my feet and kept using the same breakpoint and went around it more. The ball really floated through the fronts with the awesome midlane read and continuous backend motion. This ball for me would be a great benchmark ball. I then took it out to use on the Route 66 oil pattern. With the box finish and the volume of oil, it squirted too far and read the midlane too late. So I took a 2000 grit abralon pad and that made all the difference. The ball made Route 66 look like a house shot. This ball is a must for anyone bowling tournaments. Kudos to Hank and all of the staff at Roto Grip.

WOW!!!! enough said. When I first heard of the release of this ball, I really got excited. I've watched several of my friends throwing the Hy-Road and I really liked the reaction of it. I got mine and bowled on a 39' house shot. I started with the ball factory finish and was playing up the gutter with medium speed. The ball just floated through the fronts with a STRONG ANGULAR backend movement. As the outside started drying out, I just kept on moving left and the ball never started hooking early and the movement down lane was strong. This ball was kicking ten pins to the middle from every angle I tried. So then I took a used 4000 abralon and hand sanded it. That made all of the difference in the world. Still clean through the fronts, strong in the mid-lane and smooth but continuous on the backend!! I then bowled on the Cheetah pattern and it really looked good on it. It never read too early and the movement down lane was predictable and consistent. This ball is a must, a great benchmark ball.
Thanks to Hank and everyone at Roto Grip for producing the best balls in bowling!!!!!

The Nomad pearl was on a typical house shot 36' in length and buffed to 39' freshly oiled Brunswick synthetic lane surface. This ball was drilled with the pin above my fingers and the CG 3/4" off of my grip line. With this ball, I started up the boards and up the back of the ball, using 7th board as my breakpoint. It looked like I threw it on ice, but then when it got to the midlane it went sideways, and for a pearl it drove through the pins with no deflection. I bowled several shots playing up the boards and then moved 10 boards left with my feet, moving my eyes in, but still using the 7th board as my breakpoint. The ball was super clean through the fronts and super strong in the backs. I used it on some of the shorter Kegel patterns and this ball was as predictable on those as it was on the house pattern. Thanks to Hank and all of the staff at Roto Grip for producing some of the best equipment.

I took this ball and a Nomad solid to try out. On the fresh house shot the Outlaw was smoother with more overall hook than the Nomad. I used both the Nomad and the Outlaw at 2000 abralon finish. The Outlaw read the mid lane better and cleaner with a stronger, more continuous backend movement. For me, this ball never lost much, if any, energy down lane until they got really burned up. I then took the Outlaw and applied Storm Reacta Clean and Reacta Shine and moved back right and played up the drier part of the lane. The more I bowled with the Outlaw the more impressed I was. This ball really responds to cover stock changes really well. This ball is a must for anyone on anything!! Great job, Roto Grip, on the core and cover combination.

To start, I've been a huge fan of the Saturn and Pluto, so I was really excited about the new Riot. It did not disappoint!!! I started with it on a 39' house shot and the ball was awesome. I got to move right and play straight up the boards (using 5th and 6th boards as break point). The ball was extremely clean through the fronts with a strong and continuous backend movement. If I missed a little out it would recover and a little in and it just set up. I never lost the pocket with this ball. As they dried out, I just moved a little left and was able to open up the lane. I had them put out a heavier pattern and I could still get around the pocket but it didn't seem to like the extra oil. Although I'm not a big rev player, so some of you that are could more than likely make it work. I think this ball is a must for any bowler for a league or any tournament shot. Great job by everyone at Roto Grip.

Roto Grip Rising Star

Where to begin? WOW!!! I took this ball along with the Riot and Dark Star and bowled on a 39' house shot. The Riot was great as always with a smooth strong arc to the pocket. The Dark Star was long and angular to the pocket. The Rising Star was AWESOME!!!! It gave me the best of everything. Super clean through the fronts and a snapping backend movement. I also threw this ball on Kegel's Route 66 pattern after I had broken the pattern down with my Infinite Theory and the ball didn't miss a beat. It gave me the length on the beat up pattern and still gave me strong continuous backend movement. I never ran out of room left. This ball just kept on clearing the fronts and recovering from almost every angle. This line of equipment would give any league bowler a BARGAIN FOR HIS BUCK!!!! GREAT JOB EVERYONE AT ROTO GRIP AND STORM. Best rolling, looking and striking balls on the planet!!!!

Rumble

Sleeper...WOW, I was extremely surprised, this ball is now the first ball out of my bag on house shots. I use to take the Disturbed out first, but since drilling my Rumbles it's now the first ball out. The Disturbed on some house shots was to strong, but the Rumble is AWESOME.
I used the Rumble (box finish) on a house shot playing up the boards, crossing 10th board out to the 5th board with the ball floating through the fronts with a continuous strong arc on the backend. The Rumble really drives through the pins. I could use the Rumble all day, the house shot never got to dry for me. As long as I had some oil in the fronts I could keep moving left and the Rumble stayed in play.
I used it on some sport patterns, I struggled with it on the heavier patterns, but the lighter sport patterns it looked like a champ... I really like it on the lighter patterns.
This ball would be a great fit for most every league bowlers on most house shots. On the lighter sport patterns it would be a great addition to most every bowler.

                                                     ROTO GRIP SCREAM

I WAS THROWING THIS BALL ON THE LANE I THREW THE SHOUT ON. IT SURPRISED ME!!!! I WAS THINKING WEAKER THAN THE SHOUT, BUT I SHOULD NOT EVER THINK. I MOVED OVER TO A FRESH LANE WITH THE 39'HOUSE SHOT ON IT AND SQUARED UP AND WAS PLAYING 12 TO 5 WITH A BIG BOOMING MOVE TO THE POCKET. I BOWLED SEVERAL GAMES WITH THE SCREAM AND AS LONG AS I GOT IT TO THE FRICTION DOWN THE LANE,  IT READ AND HOOKED AND HIT LIKE CRAZY. THIS BALL REALLY WENT WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. IN THE PAST, PEARL EQUIPMENT AND MY GAME DIDN'T REALLY MATCH UP VERY WELL...TOO MUCH SPEED AND NOT ENOUGH HAND!!! BUT THE LAST FEW PEARLS HAVE REALLY MATCHED UP GOOD AS FAR AS OVERALL ROLL TO HOOK COMBO. GREAT JOB WITH ALL FIVE OF THE NEW BALLS.

I TOOK THIS BALL TO A SLIGHTLY USED LANE (39' HOUSE SHOT) AND STARTED OFF GOING UP THE BOARDS USING FIFTH BOARD AS MY BREAK POINT..STARTING THE BALL AROUND THE TENTH BOARD AND GOING OUT TO FIVE. THE BALL JUST ROLLED FOR ABOUT 37' THEN MADE A BIG ARCING MOVE TO THE POCKET. IT WAS KICKING 10 PINS TO THE MIDDLE. PLENTY OF HIT FROM THIS ONE. FOR ME ON A FRESH LANE, I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE SURFACE A LITTLE AND TRY IT THEN. ON THE FRESH LANE FOR ME, IT WAS A LITTLE SPEED SENSITIVE. SO AFTER I CHANGE THE SURFACE I'LL POST MY FINDINGS.

ROTO GRIP SHOW OFF

First off, the Show Off will cross more boards than the bucks that it cost. What a awesome ball for the HP-2 line.
The center I first threw the Show Off at is generally one of the slicker centers in town at 41'. So I took the Show Off and played the track area which in this center is around second arrow with a little hang outside of first arrow. With the Show Off I looked like a bowling machine, striking from every angle using second arrow as my break point. After a few games playing second arrow, I started throwing the ball up the first arrow, usually with most any other ball the best I could do from there was a two pin. With the Show Off a flat ten was the worse it ever got. Then after a few games playing around first arrow I changed the surface from box finish to 2000 abralon with Step 2. Then I went back inside playing fifteen to fifth board and the Show Off just floated through the fronts and had recovery from everywhere. I am really going to like this ball, it matches up to my game very well!! Thank Roto Grip ball designers..

Well I took this ball out to bowl with it on a beefed up house shot. I first threw my Mutant Cell box finish which was plenty strong. So now to the Theory, I line up with the Theroy box finish as I did with the Mutant and the first shot went four pin high. Thinking I might have just been a little slow, I threw it again with the same results. So I made a 3 and 2 move left and it was still too strong. So I moved another 3 and 2 and this ball was cleaner through the fronts but strong and continuous on the backend. I bowled several games and never moved too deep with this ball. If I missed to the dry part of the lane early, it just burned up and didn't hit. But if you kept it in the oil, it looked like it got stronger and stronger. Only sport pattern I've thrown it on so far is the Cheetah. With the box finish, this pattern is not a good combination. For heavy oil or people that don't have a lot of hand, this ball would be a great addition to their aresonal. Another great ball by the team at Roto Grip.

Totally Defiant

Well where do I start with this one??? This has to be the MOST IMPRESSIVE PEARL BALL I HAVE EVER THROWN!!!!
I first took my Defiant Edge out and got lined up on a fresh 39' house shot. I was crossing 12th board and went out to 7th board with an impressive backend motion. Then it's show time, I took the Totally Defiant out and played the same line with trip 4, trip 4 and stone 9. I moved in to 15th board and went out to 7th board and went flush, flush, flush, ect. I was striking at will. I could tug it in and it would set up and go high flush. I'd miss out to second or third board and the ball would recover like it was a magnet and the 1-3 was made out of steel.
I've used it on most any of all lane conditions from heavy house shots to some of the heavier sport patterns.
House shots it will strike for days.
Sport patterns it's super smooth doesn't start early, but it has a extremely strong and continuous movement to the pocket.
Only time I've seen it struggle is lighter oil patterns. For a pearl cover stock ball, the Totally Defiant rolls good as long as you have a little oil in the fronts this ball will keep you in play...

Winner Solid

39’ House Shot synthetic lane surface

The new Roto Grip Winner Solid has the Altered Hotshot core and VTC-S18 coverstock.

The Winner has the same Altered Hot Shot core. I tested the Winner at box finish. It started up a little quick playing the burnt track area. So I moved a few boards left, got in some fresh head oil and then the Winner got down the lane very well. The backend motion was a real strong arc with a lot of hit. For me, I used it at a center that plays real wet/dry. So I could play right and bump the dry, but when I missed inside the ball would skid in the oil but picked up in the mid lane with a strong arc to the pocket. This will be a great ball for most every house shot and every medium sport pattern. Between the Solid Winner and the Pearl Winner, they are a must for all tournament bowlers and for any league bowler. The Winners are a lot of bang for your buck.

Wreck Em

The WreckEm is the latest HP2 release from RotoGrip. Another great release from Roto Grip, not only does it hook and hit but the shelf appeal may be one of the best looking balls ever. The layout for this ball was pin slightly up and just to the right of my ring finger. The Wreck Em cleared the fronts and was smooth through the mid lane, but then the ball got to the backend and the reaction I got was a total surprise. The surprise was for it to finish as strong as it did and was so continuous through the pins. The Wreck Em may be the strongest backend reaction I've ever thrown. It gives me so much length that I could play the same area of the lane for more games. I've only used it on a fairly heavy oiled house shot so far, but after 3 games with eight bowlers on the pair I moved about five boards left all night. At first, I wasn't sure how much backend motion the Wreck Em had because of the length that it gets, but it'll gets sideways. This ball is a must for medium house shots and with the length it will work great on sport patterns with small surface adjustments. A great bargain for your buck.

                                                              WRECKER

I took on a fresh 41' house shot. My game is that I'm a tweener with about 300rpm and 15.5 mph ball speed. When I tried to throw this ball around the 10th board out to the 5th board with my lack of ball speed, the Wrecker went sideways and finished high or through the nose. So I thought about a surface change. I took a 4000 pad and hand sanded the Wrecker to dull it down a little. After sanding it, I played the lanes 10 to 5 and the ball was a little earlier but the backend motion was a lot smoother. So I then moved left to about 13 to 5 and the extra head oil helped me get the extra length I needed with a strong but continuous backend. These latest balls from Roto Grip are going to be great additions to the best ball line on the planet. Great job Utah!!!!
For me this ball REALLY came to life after the surface change. Never be scared to change the surface of any bowling ball to get a different reaction for your game.

Roto Grip Wreck It. Drilled mine pin up. Large fan of the Wrecker. Now that I have the Wreck It, I've got a one two punch that'll be useable on most all patterns. Very clean, controllable and continuation through the pins makes this ball a great piece. I could stay up the back and play up the boards with the box finish with good length and strong hit. I could move left and get around it and the down lane motion change was very impressive with kicking the ten to the middle. The Wreck It will be a great ball for any and all styles and speeds. I've only gotten to throw it a few shots on a sport pattern. It rolled good but need more shots to give a good review.

CODE BLACK

This Code Black does nothing that most asymmetrical balls generally do for me. Usually start up early, roll and ark with a pretty strong hit. Well this Code Black for me gets plenty of length and a super strong read in the mid lane with no loss of energy through the pins. This ball really has matched up to all kinds of games, straighter players make it look good and crankers can really open up the whole lane. I haven't thrown it on anything other than a house shot, but I can see where this would be a good sport pattern ball with the way it gets through the fronts. This will be a great ball in every style of bowlers hands.

CODE RED

I was so excited about the release of the Code Red, and believe me it doesn't disappoint. With the Code Red and the Code Black these are two that you can't go wrong with.
I got my Code Red before I went to a tournament at a center that I knew played real slick, it was going to be a 44' modified house shot. So before I went I had sanded my Code Red down with a 2000 abralon pad. So my review about the Code Red IS NOT BOX FINISH. So at the tournament I started with a big asymmetrical solid for a couple of games. Then it wouldn't go through the pins like I needed so I switched to the Code Red. With the Code Red even at 2000 it cleared the fronts and was a stronger movement on the backend to go through the pins like I needed. It was an 8 game block and I used it the last six games. The pattern we were bowling on wasn't flat in the middle but it was flatter than a typical house shot. I was really surprised how clean the Code Red through the fronts with it dulled down.
Since the tournament I have put my Code Red back to as close to box finish that I can do. Now the Code Red is super clean through the fronts with an incredible backend motion.
This will be a great league or tournament ball for all bowlers.

STORM CODE X

Can you say HOOK and HIT? For any and all of the Code series fans, you are going to love the release of the Code X. The Code X will tackle the heavier oil patterns so when they start breaking down you got the Code Red or Code Black to go to. I took the Code X to my practice center and bowled with it on a 40’ house shot on a synthetic lane surface. The Code X was amazing how well it rolled through the fronts without losing and energy, with an incredible mid lane read and unbelievable continuation through the pins. At box finish this ball clears the fronts as well as any. Even for an old guy, I had pin flying everywhere, even with a few scouts. So on the heavier patterns you’ve got a ball in the Code X that’ll get you through the earlier games until the pattern starts breaking down. The Code X will definitely in my bag for tournaments and heavier oiled house shots. This ball is going to be a great addition to all league bowlers and a must to all tournament bowlers.

STORM DRIVE

I was looking forward to the Drive coming out on one hand, and a little nervous on the other hand. I like the the Timeless, but it didn’t match up with my game on some patterns.
So I took my Drive to my practice center on a fresh 41’ synthetic lane surface. The huge thing about the Drive for me is I could keep my angles straight for several games, but when I had to move left it was small moves and my Drive never lost its movement and hitting power. One of the great things was now with the Drive once I burnt up the outside part of the lane, without moving I could get my Timeless out and stay in the same part of the lane. I threw it on a couple of heavier sport patterns, and the Drive did not disappoint. On the heavy oil pattern I threw the Drive on I hit it with a 1000 grit abralon pan and it performed very good. On the heaviest patterns it wasn’t quite enough for me and my game, but between Roto Grip and Storm I’ve got a ball or two that will fill that need. If you had a problem with the Timeless, the only problem you’ll have with the Drive is not owning one. Great addition for any league bowler and a must for tournament bowlers.

STORM HYROAD SOLID NANO

This ball review is easy because the ball has Hyroad in its name. The center I practice at is a fairly slick 41’ house shot with synthetic lane surface. On the fresh I had it in my mind that the Hyroad Nano box finish might start up early, but it did not. Clean through the fronts with a great mid lane read and a strong arc to the pocket, with the great hitting power that you know for the original Hyroad. I bowled several games and moved just a few boards. As long as my ball drop was in the oil the Hyroad Nano was clean through the fronts. It’s backend reaction stayed constant with great hitting power through the pins. This will be a great benchmark ball for most all bowlers.

Hyroad X

39’ House Shot

The Hyroad X is the latest release in the Hyroad line. It has the same Inverted Fe2 core and the R2X solid coverstock which is a medium strength formula cover.

The Hyroad X is my kind of ball reaction I look for in a bowling ball. It is so clean through the fronts, doesn’t need but very little head oil to get it down the lane. With the polished cover it creates a strong backend motion. With the Hyroad X, I could move a couple boards left every few games, other than the shape changing nothing else changed. The Hyroad X came off the spot the same as it did when I first started throwing it on the freshly oiled lane condition. This ball will be a must for all tournament bowlers and an awesome house shot ball.

STORM INTENSE

Well, where do I start? I got to throw my Storm Intense for the first time on a 45 foot heavily oiled sport pattern on a synthetic lane surface. I used it box finish on this pattern. Started out the first game trying to keep my angles in front of me and throwing the ball around second arrow. The Storm Intense’s backend reaction was so strong that even after I got loose it was going four pin high. So I moved left three boards with my feet and two with my eyes and the Storm Intense just crushed the pocket and putting ten pins in the pit. This line lasted for several frames and when it went four pin high again so I made the same adjustment. So I bowled several games making the adjustment left every couple of games. So then I took it to league, and for me I started five boards left of the track area and stayed inside of everyone but two bowlers all night. Had a great set with two flat tens and three nine pins and four four pins. Never missed hitting the one three pocket. For me the Storm Intense is cleaner through the fronts, but stronger on the back end than the Snap Lock. Great ball.

Intense Fire

39’ House Shot

The Intense Fire is the newest release in Storm’s Premier Line. The Intense Fire features the sixth generation RAD-E core and has the R3S Hybrid coverstock. The combination of core and coverstock generates generous length with a powerful backend motion.

I really haven’t had time to really throw my Intense Fire. So I took it out with another bowler yesterday. We bowled about 16 games on the pair testing other balls before I got it out. The track area was burnt up so it forced me in to about 20, for my game that’s pretty deep. I bowled several games playing in there and had strings of strikes every game. As the area kept drying up I kept moving left, ended up in around 30 before we stopped. When I can generate a big hook spot from in there, it means this Intense Fire has plenty of recovery. From deep inside I had tug room and miss room out. This ball was super strong off of the spot. A strong but controllable asymmetrical. Great job Storm, this and the Intense are a very good complement to each other.

MATCH UP SOLID

I was a little hesitant about drilling one of the Match Up Solids, due to me and the original Match didn't match up. But after a few conversations with my ball driller and my sales rep, my ball driller put holes in one for me. And I am very happy he did.
Not having any ideal on what to expect due to my original Match, I went to a center that I don't practice in much. At first I took my IQ Tour solid, cause as we all know, you can't go wrong with it. This center is a 41' house shot with pretty high volume, with a flood in the middle. After several shots with the IQ I switched to the Match Up Solid and with the fresh cover it really rolled good and hooked more than expected. The Match Up Solid really reads the midlane very good with a strong backend motion with continuation through the pins. After several games the Match Up Solid really came to life. I could start opening up the lane and striking from multiple angles. For me once the cover got just a little oil soaked it really started to perform. I think this will definitely be a great house shot ball for everyone and a must for all tournament bowlers.

Storm Phase II. Drilled mine pin down. I threw several games with the Phase II on the fresh house shots and the heavier sport shots. It looked very good (maybe need to try a different layout). Once the patterns broke down, it started getting a little too early and for MY game throwing it away from the pocket was going to be a high scoring option. So I took the Phase II and sanded it down with a 2000 abralon pad and Storm Step 2. After doing this, the Phase II saved enough energy to make an aggressive move with a strong hit and continuation through the pins. So this ball as well to all of Storm and Roto Grip equipment surface adjustments can make a HUGE difference. I always try everything possible on surfaces on each and every ball I drill. I'll post another review when I get around to drilling another Phase II. It's going to be a great ball.

Physix

39’ House Shot

The Physix is the latest release in Storm’s Premier line. It has the Atomic core and a NRG Hybrid cover and is stronger than average formula in Storm’s line.

I first threw the Physix on a fresh house shot for a few games. Playing up the track area of the lane, around 10 to 6. After several games and moving left every several games, the Physix was still getting through the fronts with a impressive backend reaction. For me, the deeper I got with the Physix the stronger the down lane reaction was. I continued to bowl several more games on this particular pair. After about 30 games on the pair, I got the Physix back out. It had some lane shine on it. So where I stopped throwing my Intense Fire is where I tried starting with the Physix. It was ok reaction but not what I was looking for. So I moved further left and created a steeper angle through the fronts. The Physix cleared the fronts and the backend motion was so strong. I want to add a little shine to the Physix and take it back to the lanes.

Storm Rocket Ship. Drilled mine pin up. I bowled with this ball for a lot of games on fresh house shots to broke down house shots with VERY good results. Mine is very clean through the fronts even on the broken down house shots. This will be a bench mark ball for me, very predictable and controllable through the mid lane and continuation through the pins. Box finish, the Rocket Ship retained enough energy to kick the ten pin to the middle on the dryer house shots. On all of the sport patterns that I've used it on, it's really looked very good. I've used it on the heavier oiled patterns to even the Cheetah with good reaction. It really is easy to make surface adjustments and the Rocket Ship responses to them very well. This ball would be a must for league or tournament bowlers.

Storm Snap Lock. Drilled mine pin up. As a big fan of the Hype Cell Skid, the Storm Snap Lock will not disappoint. On a fresh house shot I played the track area and the Snap Lock cleared the fronts, read the breakpoint and went through the pins with no deflection. After several games I kept moving left and the ball cornered like I was still playing the straight. For my game, I never ran out of lane. The deeper I got, the stronger the ball was on the backend. A great league shot ball. I've only thrown it on a couple of sport patterns so far. It clears the fronts with ease and has great continuation through the pins. I'll update my review on sport patterns later

STORM SON!Q
The SON!Q uses the brand new centripetal HD core, wrapped in the proven R2S Pearl coverstock which was use on the IQ30. I took my SON!Q to my practice center which has synthetic lanes and a 41’ house shot, I started playing the track area moving left after a few games. For my game I never lost ball motion and was getting the SON!Q to recover from everywhere. One of the best things I liked about the SON!Q was after the lanes were pretty much burnt up, I could me back right, firm up my speed and go up the back of the ball, and I had a great look doing this. Real clean! I can see this ball being first ball out of my bag during league, and a great transition piece during tournaments. For my game the SON!Q is as clean as the IQ30 with a better mid lane read with a stronger backend reaction. When the SON!Q makes its move and hits the pins it’s incredible how hard this ball hits. The SON!Q is going to be the perfect median between the Code Red and Hyroad. Any bowlers that likes the IQ Solid, Fusion or the IQ Pearl is going to really like the SON!Q!!

Sure Lock

Another great release in the Premier line. Sure Lock is the snow tire of the Lock series. On a 39' heavily oiled house shot it will impress you with how clean it is to get down the lane, but once it reads friction off the spot hold on it's going left. Once I realized how much miss room I had, I couldn't miss. As long as the ball drop area stayed oily, I never had any problems getting it through the fronts. For a big hooking ball it really gets down the lane with ease, and the motion off of the mid lane is super strong but extremely controllable. After about eight games with the Sure Lock for ME started reading a little to early and being hand challenged I put it on the spinner and put it back to box finish, then I took a 3000 & 4000 pad and smoothed out the cover stock. I then went back to the same pair of lanes and started off where I had finished up with the Sure Lock box finish. Even though the lanes were pretty beat up with the smoother cover the ball reacted like it was on a fresh house shot. Made it through the fronts with ease and had that big strong arc down lane with the hitting power of a freight train. Looking forward to using the Sure Lock on all heavier oiled Sport patterns.

TIMELESS

What a great piece for the first release in the Signature line. THIS BALL IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! It's a Hyroad on juice. And the shelf appeal is absolutely one of the best looking balls ever!! (But my favorite color is blue) I drilled two of them, but the one in the review is 5x5x2. I bowled on a fresh 39' house shot with ths layout, I could do anything my game allows me to do. I could go straight up the boards or I could get in and cover half of the lane. Someone with a lot of hand will have all of the lane. The Timeless is as clean if not cleaner than the Hyroad, but the back end motion is so much stronger. For me this Timeless had recovery from everywhere. Sometimes for me the Hyroad got a little squirrelly on wet dry patterns, but the Timeless with the dual weight block seems to blend those type of patterns out. As more games were bowled I could keep moving left and the backend motion was just as strong as ever. This Timeless ball will be a great house shot ball and as clean as it is through the fronts, I think it'll be an even better sport shot ball. Great job by Jason Belmonte and everyone else involved...
