About the Bowler

Brunswick Fortera Intrigue

My information:
Right Handed, Ball Speed-14 mph average
Rev Rate-270 average, Axis tilt-45degrees
Axis tilt-15 degrees

Ball Drilling:65x40 @41/2" P-2 X-hole.
Ball used 15 lbs 2oz.

Lanes used on:
Pro Anvilane -4 years old. Medium volume of play.
40 'house shot

Ball Specs for Fortera Intrigue
Core- Fortera Flip Coverstock -Fortera Hybrid Reactive
Box Finish-500 Siaair Micro Pad:Royal Compound
RG-2.512 Diff.-0.050,Int. Diff.-.016
Color: Red Pearl/Black Solid

The Fortera Intrigue is a little earlier through the heads
than the Fortera Exile. The Fortera Hybrid cover create
a slightly earlier look through the midlane.
The Intrigue is less angular when it encounters friction at the backend
than the Exile
The Hybrid cover helps keep the Intrigue from
going to long, but has a early revving motion
of the Exile.

The ease through the heads helped store up axis rotation for
the backend without giving up much traction in the
midlane.

The aggressive move at the breakpoint sets up nicely for the
tremendous down lane recovery.

The core and cover combo allows the Fortera Intrigue to
quickly respond to the friction, and keep going when
other balls would be quitting and have a tendency to
stand up.

Going around the pattern is made a whole lot easier when
you know that the ball isn't going to roll-out.When
the ball does encounter friction is impressive
I feel that the Fortera Intrigue can be used as a heavy oil ball
for players with slower ball speed and a medium oil ball for
players with speed and higher revs.

In my opinion, the Intrigue is a very versatile ball.It
has the ability to handle shots pointed at the pocket from
five and in to the five arrow.

Overview

The Melee Jab cover and core combination creates less friction
friction than the Melee or the Cross. Clears the heads and midlane
and has a quicker respond to the friction downlane.
The ball also has more skid flip than the other Melees.
The Melee Jab creates less overall hook throughout
the lane than the Melee or Cross.

The Melee Jab compared to the Melee and Cross

The Melee and Cross has more overall hook through the entire lane.
The Melee Jab has more length and greater response to the friction.
With more backend at the end of the pattern than the Melee and Cross.

On medium oily lanes 43’ house shot on 15 year old Anvilanes.

The core and cover combo creates less hook throughout the
entire lane. But has a quick response to friction when it encounters
friction at the back end.

The Melee Jab clears the heads and midlane nicely, but has a lot of
axis rotation left to create a big move on the back end. When it hits the friction
at the back end of the pattern, it turns and doesn't quit. When the lanes
start to go through the transition stage The Melee Jab really shows
what it’s made of. The ease through the heads and midlane and the skid flip
motion allows you to move deeper into the lane, and still get recovery.

As the shot transitioned during games I could easily move deeper to created
steeper angles. With the steeper angles during the transition the pin carry was
increased. The miss area wasn't so critical .The ball now had extra area to come back
without overreaction.

Closing comments:
The cover and core helps supply length and decent revs,
for medium conditions. With 4’ flare..The ball does what it is
designed to do.It gave more length and a sharper move
downlane. It got through the drying heads and light push,
all the while maintaining a sharp angular turn at the breakpoint.

The Melee Jab was best on medium oily volumes.
Higher oil volumes might require you to scuff it up some to
improve traction in oil.

Higher rev players may find they will get a great look with
with more surface on fresh oil.

The length the Melee Jab gets through the heads easy, and still keeps
its axis rotation which helps to conserve energy when coming
in contact with the pocket.

Overall a great ball for most styles.Just find a condition that
medium, and you will not be disappointed.

About the Bowler

Write Review HereThe new MOTIV 2 Cruel has the new Sinister asymmetrical core, which
has a higher RG and a lower differential than the core in the original Cruel C51.
It also features a new coverstock in the Whiplash Hybrid
Reactive. This core and cover combo helps the 2 Cruel clear the
heads easier the the C51.The 2 Cruel has a nice midlane roll, and saves
up it's energy for a very angular backend from such and aggressive
ball. The 2 Cruel respond rather quickly to the friction at the backend.
The 2 Cruel is just the type of ball that I have been waiting for.A heavy
oil ball that doesn't check up too early in the heads and the midlanes,
yet is aggressive enough to thrive in the heavy soup. The 2 Cruel doesn't
roll up as early and is more angular at the backend than the the RaptorP7.
The 2 Cruel is a great ball the go to when trying to open up the lane.I
could move deeper into the oil when the lanes started to open and
send it further right than any other MOTIV ball to date. The angular
nature was a big plus for me,it recovered nicely when it encountered
the friction. So far this ball has been just what I needed when I encounter
oil but still needed to create area.

The Primal Impulse is the first true "skid flip" ball from MOTIV. This ball is a welcome
sight for me and others.I have been waiting for a ball I could use to open up the lane
when the fronts became spotty and push started building up at the backends.

The Primal Impulse glides through the heads and the midlanes,.but when it hits the
back ends this ball really turns hard. The energy retention that is saved is by the
Primal Impulse is amazing. This ball had no problem on heavy carrydown.

The motion of the Primal Impulse let me move deeper than usual and send it
wider than usual and still watch is recover. There seems to be no place on the
lanes that it couldn't recover from.

On a fresh shot the Primal Impulse held it own without any problem. When this
ball got down lane ,nothing was going to stop it from turning left
.
On medium patterns the Primal never read the midlane too early or did it display
any hook out.

This ball gave me another look that I have been waiting for. This dynamic skid/flip
motion is a must for any bowler wanting to open up the lane. This ball creates crazy
launch angles.

The Primal TV4 is the newest release from MOTIV.
The Primal TV4 offers the proven Thrust core found in three previous
MOTIV releases the TX1,TR2,TZ3.The Thrust core in the 15lb.ball offers
a RG of 2.54 which is in the medium low area.
The differential in the 15lb. version is .052. Also in the medium area.
The coverstock is the newest creation from MOTIV called Vicious

The coverstock color is Silver Pearl/Black Pearl with yellow graphics.
The coverstock is wet sanded with Abralon to 2000 &polished with
MOTIV Power Gel Polish.

My comments:
What I got from the Primal TV4,was a ball that cleared the heads
with relative ease. Then when the Primal encountered the mids it
was then that the ball started the very heavy revs. When the Primal
hit the friction at the back of the patterns the reaction was really
dynamic,yet controlled.I didn't get any over reaction.
The Primal saves up most of its energy for this backend motion which
was very defined.
When the lanes started to see push,is when the Primal TV4
really stared to shine. This ball is in its element with push. The energy
the ball saved for the backend is perfect for push.
The Primal TV4 is best suited for medium-medium oil.And flatter
patterns.
The Tweeners and Strokers will be love this ball.It will allow them
to move left on the THS and see recovery and a heavy roll to the
pocket.
But you Crankers not need to be afraid of this ball.Let me state;this ball
will let you move far enough left to avoid the burn you encounter
from the Tweeners and Strokers. The Primal TV4 creates enough area
that you can go around the others, and not worry about the push.
Because the backend motion this ball creates loves push.
The only condition to keep the Primal away from is extreme wet,
and extreme dry.

Specs on ball tested:
70/40 @ 2 3/4, X-Hole on PAP 7/8"bit, 2 1/4" deep,
Ball Surface:1000 wet sanded with Power Gel Polish,

The all new MOTIVator-Z cover and,the all new Quadfire
core creates a ball motion that gets the QZ1 through
the heads, but creates good revs at the mids and a smooth arcing reaction at the breakpoint.
The medium RG and the medium Diff.helps the QZ1 achieve this look.
When using the QZ1 on a fresh house shot, this ball
allowed me to play just inside the oil line, with a swing
area of about 3-5 boards more than usual on THS.

Sanding the QZ1 to 1500 and applying Power Gel Polish
allowed me to square up to the oil line and just let
it roll out to the breakpoint without forcing it to
the spot. Now the smooth arcing nature was perfect for all
3 games on a THS.The smooth look at the breakpoint is what you should be looking for on your THS.

The QZ1 really shines when the lanes had 3-6 games
bowled on them during tournaments. With the shot being wide open the QZ1 was in it's element. You could swing it out wider without fear that it would jump at the backend.
The controlled arcing motion was a perfect match for
this type of condition.

The QZ1 was about 2-3 boards less hook than the SR2.
Track Flare was about 4"
The best condition for the QZ1 is medium oil to
medium patterns.
Heavier and longer patterns do not match up well with
the QZ1.

Anyone looking for pure performance in a mid-price ball should have a QZ1 in their bag.

The all new MOTIVator-Z pearl cover and the all new
Quadfire core creates a ball motion yet unseen
from MOTIV.The core and cover combo gets the QZ1
down the lane without any trouble and when it
encounters the dry at the spot it turns left without
any hint of jump. What you do get is a controlled
smooth arc. The medium RG and medium Diff. helps
create this look.
The QZ1 on a fresh house let me move just right of
the oil line and, play the house pattern with ease.
Standing right and playing this angle allowed me
to stay with the QZ1 longer before moving deeper
and changing balls.

On the 2nd shift house or the broken down tournament
shot the QZ1 was the ball I have been looking for from
MOTIV. The QZ1's smooth arcing roll allows you to
send it wide and have it corner without fearing that it was going to jump through the nose. The pin carry was great
on this type of shot.

This is the money ball that MOTIV has needed.Anyone looking for control in a mid-price ball needs to think about
the QZ1 as their next purchase.

Opening Thoughts:

When I sat down to write this review for the QZ2,it became quite evident
that it would not be easy.
What words and phrases, terms, could it come up with to describe the QZ2.

I was at a lose for words,Since MOTIV released their first ball, they have
produced one quality ball after another. So finding more to say about these
great ball became harder.

Then a few things hit me.And it became much clearer.

*Will the QZ2 be any different from the QZ1’s Red and Purple? Yes,
the QZ2 is different.
It offers greater length and a sharper angular backend at the breakpoint.

*Does the change in coverstock prep, now at 4000 wet/sand and highly polished
make a difference.
Yes.The coverstock adjustment gave me about 2’ more length and a larger
angular look at the breakpoint. It cleared the heads with ease.

*Why will the coverstock prep at 4000 wet/sand and highly poliished
matter to the average bowler.
Yes.I have found out by talking to average bowlers through the years, that
most bowlers like to keep the surface of their ball at the OOB surface
that the manufacturer started with.
They will just use another ball with a different surface and core,
and drilling than mess with what is working for them.

When these bowlers sand their ball, they find that they have a hard time
getting it back to the same surface it started at.

Bowlers find it easier to keep the ball at the OOB surface.
They will then clean and polish as needed. It’s easier to keep it simple.

So yes,the QZ2 offers a different look on the lanes.

Also another choice to choose from.

*Does color change matter? I have had more comments on the color
than I can recall.

Color does matter. One of the most popular colors is blue.So
blue/black with silver logos and graphics is a great selling
point.

Review Comments

The MOTIVator-Z pearl blue/black coverstock comes wet/sanded at
4000 and highly polished.

It was designed for length and a fast move when it hits friction
at the breakpoint.

The Quadfire Symmetric core helps supply length and decent revs,
for medium/dry conditions.I got 3”-4” of flare. The ball did just
what it was designed to do.It gave me more length and a sharper
move downlane. It got through the drying heads and light push,
all the while maintaining a sharp angular turn at the breakpoint.

The QZ2 was best on lighter oil to medium volumes.Higher volumes
of oil might require you to scuff it up some to improve traction
in oil.
Higher rev players may find they will get a great look with
with more surface on fresh oil and clean backends.

The QZ2 gave me a late and sharp turn on medium oil patterns with
fresh backends. The QZ2's hard move off friction allows you
to swing the ball away from the pocket and still have it recover.

The length the QZ2 gets through the heads easy, and still keeps
its axis rotation which helps to conserve energy when coming
in contact with the pocket.

Overall a great ball for most styles.Just find a condition that
light to medium, and you will not be disappointed.

This new MOTIV release is intended for heavy oil,and it doesn't disappoint.
The new core and coverstock combo gives MOTIV a new look on
the lanes not yet seen in a MOTIV ball.

The Raptor P7 will help bowlers who may be a little rev challenged. The
strong and quick reaction to the dry at the end of the pattern is perfect
for this type of style.Crankers will also love the look of this ball on heavy oil
when they need to be left of the tweeners and strokers.

The Raptor P7 clears the heads easier than you would think from a ball
this strong. It stores the energy for midlane and the backend. This is where
the ball starts to shine. The amount of friction in the mids doesn't take anything away from the backend reaction. The strength at the breakpoint
is very heavy and continuous almost skid flip.A ball with this much
backend is rare. The recovery on the backends is the Raptors greatest
strength.Even as the oil carried down to the back of the pattern, the Raptor
just keep motoring toward the pocket. There was never any quit.
Going around the pattern is a lot easier when you are confident
that the ball you are using is going to make it around the corner, and not
quit on you.The ball continuation through the pocket is outstanding, and the
pin carry is fantastic.

Very few balls,if any, will cover this amount of area and not quit on you.The
Raptor P7 makes heavy oil patterns look easy.

My Information:Ball Speed- 16mph avg.,Rev Rate-275rpm''s avg.,

grit wet/sand,

Drilling: Pin over middle finger,5 3/4",Cg 4 3/4'' from PAP,No X-Hole.

Lanes:Brunswick Anvilane,Wood lanes,

The all new MOTIV Recon core has a higher RG and a moderate Diff.,
that helps get the RX1 down the lane.

Matched up with the milder MOTIVator-X coverstock from the
SX1 and the TX1 will complement the core.

The shocking orange color is turning heads, and causing people to
ask what you are throwing.

I have not thrown a ball this mild in a long time.Especially a ball
that was not urethane.
Other reactives that are supposed to go long are too skid flip. The
RX1 is all about control and roll.

On Dry Lanes and Second Shift House Shots

The RX1 gave me very good length throughout the heads and mids.
At the exit point to the breakpoint, the RX1 was clean and mild.
When the RX1 hit the breakpoint there was no sign of flip,
only a very mild arc.The cover and core helps lesson the response
off the dry.

For me playing dry lanes without having to move past third arrow
was great.Being able to stand at 25 and releasing the ball off my
hand at 20,and not having to target deeper than 15 on the lane,
helped me stay more square to the target, and not have to make
diagonal moves. The moves were mostly parallel adjustments.

On a Fresh House Shot:41'' and very dry outside the 7th board.

This ball was surprising. The RX1 allowed me me stand right and
roll it right up 5-6.The RX1 cleared the heads and mids without ever
wanting to stand up early. When it hit the breakpoint,on the fresh
house shot, there was no sign of the RX1 ever wanting to jump.

The RX1 is what a entry level ball should be."Control".
Overall the RX1 is a great piece for the entry level pricing.

Ball 15lbs 2 oz. ,2.5 oz.top,with a 3'pin.
Drill Pattern-70x45 @4/12"
with a P3 weight hole,2/12" deep,with a 1 1/64' bit,

Lanes-Wood 30 years old,Anvil lanes 15 years old,Pro anvil lanes 2 years old.

The Recon core helps delay the revs, making it easier to get down lane.

The Pearl MOTIVator-X coverstock which is wet/sanded at 4000 and polished
with MOTIV Power Gel Polish helps get this RX1 through the heads and midlane
with ease. There isn't any sign of the Recon going up at the mids. The RX1 Silver
Pearl gets about two more feet in length than the original RX1.

The Silver Pearl RX1 is a control ball. The control at the backend of the pattern is
just what you need for dry lanes. The motion down the lane is a perfect fit for
dry lanes, short sport patters, and drier side to side fresh house shots.

What the RX1 Silver pearl is not,is a oil ball.Just put it back in the back.
This ball is weak enough to put your favorite strong drilling. The stronger
drilling on such a weak ball is a perfect fit for playing from deeper inside
shots.

Overall:This RX1 is one of the best dry lane balls I have ever thrown.
If you are looking for a control ball for dry lanes, give the RX1 a shot.

The new MOTIV Sigma Hybrid has the new Atomix Hybrid cover.
It's the strongest ever used on a Sigma core. The low RG gets the
Sigma Hybrid into a early roll, but the ball still gets through the
heads without too much effort. The early roll helps smooth -out
the ball at the backend.
The Sigma Hybrid has a strong read of the midlane and a very
continuous motion at the breakpoint.
When the Sigma Hybrid encounters friction at the breakpoint,
it has a very heavy ,but consistent move toward the pocket. There
is never a overreaction.Very predictable and easy to read.
The motion to the friction is quicker when at 4000 and highly
polished.
The Sigma Hybrid is stronger throughout the entire lane than
the Sigma Tour. This is a very nice compliment to the Sigma Tour.
This ball is best suited for oily mediums.Just move inside the oil line
and this ball shines.

The Sigma Tour was designed for medium oil. Most bowlers will use
it as their benchmark/first ball out of their bag ball.

This Sigma Tours medium low rg core and new Atomix cover lets
it lope through the front part of the lane, which helps it store the
energy for the breakpoint. The smoothness through the heads is
insane. The smoothness through the heads will let you keep the
ball straighter through the front part of the lane to start.

The Sigma Tour has a very strong midlane roll. This reaction is so
defined and strong for a ball that gets through the front part of
the lane so easy.
The key to the Sigma Tour is the energy stored for the downlane
movement. The Sigma has a medium response to the friction at
the breakpoint. The breakpoint shape is very a very heavy arc. That
has a long and strong continuous movement.Yet controllable
and predictable.
When the lanes transition from fresh to open, the Sigma performs just
as well. When you need to move deeper the ball corners with ease.
Carrydown doesn't give the Sigma any problems. The Sigma shines
out a variety of patterns and conditions. The Sigma is a must for everyone.

MOTIV has taken a giant step with their last two releases;the QZ2
Backdraft and the Raptor P7.With the release of the Sigma Tour, they
have filled the gap between those two.If you are looking for a three ball
arsenal, you have it here.Throw in the RX1 Silver for dry lanes and spares
and you have a complete arsenals for most conditions.

About the Bowler

SR2 Review.

My information:
Ball Speed:15-16mph. Rev Rate:250-265 rpms
Axis rotation:45 degrees. Axis tilt;15 degrees.

Ball tested specs:
Pin up-above middle finger.5 1/2"x 4 1/2",No X-hole.
Pin down-under ring finger.5"x4",No X-Hole,

The SR2:
The MOTIVat-R cover(from the TR2)and the Sigma core(from the SX1)
creates a dynamic combination unseen so far from MOTIV.
When the guys from Spring Lake went to work on a ball to fill the
the gap in the MOTIV line-up,they really did the word "angular";justice.

The symmetrical core of the SR2 is a lower RG. and medium differential
helps the ball clear the heads and picks up the revs a little later
in the mid-lanes.
The very hard angular back end of the SR2 is great for carrydown on
medium to medium-oil on medium to longer patterns,39'-44'.
After around three games is when this ball really shines on this type
of patterns.
The angular nature of the SR2 could be a hindrance for higher rev
players on medium length, oilier house shots with fresh back ends,
they may see too much jump off the back of the pattern. But they will
love this ball when they encounter push.
When the SR2 starts to turn the corner there is no quit on the back end,
especially on the mediums patterns.
The SR2 goes longer than the GT1,but will turn the corner on push
better than the GT1 when encountering heavier carrydown.
The 4"-5" of flare I got helped me keep the ball from burning energy too
early ,which helps create the angular nature that is so great on carrydown.

The overall lane hook was less than the TR2 and more than the GT1.
But the total hook is not what this ball was designed for.It was designed
for a more angular look on push, and you do not want total hook
when trying to create back end.

I got the best look with the SR2 during a tourn.( modified sport), with a longer
length, medium volume pattern. When the lanes had about five games bowled
on them, and your were forced to move deeper .The SR2 allowed me
to move in and play fourth and fifth arrow, this ball made it to the
breakpoint with ease and still turn the corner without ever quitting.

Overall the SR2 is the perfect ball for anyone needing a ball to handle
carrydown, when everything else they have is burning up too
early, or not corning when running into carrydown.
Thank you MOTIV, Angel Wilt

About the Bowler

My Information:Ball Speed:15-16 mph, Rev Rate:250-260 rpms
Axis Rotation:45 degrees,Axis Tilt:15 degrees,
Ball surface:800 grit OOB,Drill Spec for ball tested:4.5 x 4,
pin outside ring finger,no x-hole,
Lanes tested on:Brunswick Pro Anvil Lanes,Age of lanes:8 yrs.
The TR2 features the Thrust core found in the TX1 a medium
RG design, with a higher differential. The cover is the new
MOTIVat-R reactive, the most aggressive and biggest hooking
ball MOTIV has yet to produce.
The TR2 produces a very heavy continuous arc at the
breakpoint and a great continuation through the pindeck.
The TR2 will match up well with oilier house shots, longer
sport and oilier PBA Experience patterns. The TR2 is way
too strong for any dry shots or shorter sport patterns.

Overall:I believe that the TR2 will fit into any players
bag.High speed straighter players and strokers can use
it's early revs and hook to help them.Tweeners will be
able to find the oil line and be able to stay in their
comfort zone.Crankers will be able to move inside the
other styles and ,use the longer continuous arc to control
the back end of the lane without over reaction and still
have great recovery.

The TR2 should be a hit and the start of bigger and better
things for MOTIV.Thanks MOTIV.
