About the Bowler

League Average:
230 +
PAP:
4 1/4 right, 1 up
Ball Speed:
Medium
Style:
Stroker
Bowling Hand:
Right Handed
Sport Shot Average:
220
Experience:
Advanced (I have bowled in a league)
I drilled my Jackal Rising 70 x 3 3/8 x 20 with an X-hole 3" down my VAL from my PAP.

The reasoning behind this layout was to have a more stable drilling that would fall out in my arsenal in between my pin down and pin up ghosts. I had a hard time in my progression of when my pin down ghost would lose energy and my pin up ghost would see the friction too soon.

In general, the shape of the Rising is similar to the ghost but reads the lane a solid 2 or 3 feet earlier. It is slightly smoother than the ghosts and will call it more arc like where my ghosts are more angular. This results in more overall hook from the Rising. I can open up my angles in the front of the lane a little more than with my ghosts and not have to worry about it reading the friction early. I would say that the Rising is more versatile than the ghost. I have used it on patterns ranging in 36 to 47 feet of distance with varying ratios. I have yet to find a pattern this ball doesn't give me a look on the fresh with.

Highly Recommend.

If you are looking for cutting edge coverstock technology with proven core technology, this is the ball for you. The lethal paranoia comes equipped with the proven oblivion core, wrapped in the new hexion hybrid coverstock. I drilled two, one pin up and one pin down, as you can view in my video. Both of these balls complimented the chronic paranoia well, which is a benchmark ball for me. The pin down lethal is about 2 and 2 right of the chronic (same layout) for me due to the 5500 grit LSP box finish shine, which clears the heads significantly cleaner than the chronic. The pin up lethal is about 4 and 2 left of the chronic. The pin up ball definitely stores more energy than the pin down, and is significantly stronger and more angular at the break point, off the friction and end of the pattern. If you are looking to fill a gap in your bag with a medium strength and angular motion ball, the lethal paranoia is just that.

I drilled my VSP pin up. 50 x 5 x 40 with an X-hole on my PAP.

The top gear core inside the VSP gets the ball started very early for a lighter oil ball. However, the Hexion pearl coverstock, 5500 Grit finish, and lower differential in the top gear core allow the ball to still get down the lane very easy. I would call this ball, out of the box, a medium-fast response to friction ball.

It rolls very good on broken down house shots and later in the blocks of tournament play. For me thus far it comes into play more on flatter tournament lane conditions.

The Hexion coverstock is very versatile and takes to surface changes very well. For advanced players hitting the surface with 1000 or 2000 abralon will smooth out the reaction a bit. Doing so for a league player will allow them to use this the VSP to start the night on the fresh on most medium length and volume house shots.
