Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2500 Grit)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a huge fan of the Freight Train, one of the strongest balls I've thrown in a long time. Knowing that the Bullet Train would have a hybrid coverstock, I was expecting a little more length with a smooth, strong backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Bullet Train certainly did not dissapoint! For a matte finished ball, this ball had very good length with a super smooth arcing backend motion. This ball was extremely easy to read and will be a perfect step down from the Freight Train. This ball will be a monster on carry down and crankers will love it on fresh heavy oil patterns.

If you're looking for an easy to control, strong ball with enough length to get through the heads on medium-heavy to heavy conditions, the Bullet Train is a great choice!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I'm a big 900 Global Fan and all of their recent releases have been great. They were certainly missing a true heavy oil ball though and that's what I was expecting the Dream On to be.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was expecting hook, but I certainly wasn't expecting this much hook! The Dream On is one of the strongest balls I've ever thrown. This ball will stand up to any ball from any company on heavy oil.

Another thing that surprised me was how good the length was for a matte-finished, strong, solid bowling ball. This ball cleared the heads, started to read in the early midlane and on the backend looked like someone kicked it left.

The carry was outstanding from the Dream On and I really can't say enough good things about it. Lower rev players are going to love this ball along with all styles on heavy conditions. If the competition thinks they have a chance... Dream On!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a big fan of all of the previous Eagle releases. I think the Break core is one of the best in the business. I was excited to get to see that core with a pearl coverstock around it. I used my benchmark layout and I was expecting good length with a strong backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was a little afraid that the pearl coverstock would cause me to see some over/under or that the ball might skid past the breakpoint. Well... that NEVER happened! The Eagle Pearl is just as strong as its brothers but with more length and a stronger backend reaction. I was amazed at how easy it was for me to read the reaction of this ball.

The Eagle Pearl has my favorite type of ball reaction. Good length and a strong controllable backend reaction. This makes for a ball that is extremely versatile and exactly what you should use on tough lane conditions. If you've had success at nationals with previous Eagle releases, you will love this ball. It's the perfect ball for doubles/singles!

When you first get a brand new ball drilled up, you're always amazed at the reaction. You clean your ball every time you finish bowling, but somewhere along the line it starts to lose a little bit of the luster, of the punch it used to have. Well why is that? Over time your ball will get tiny scratches and dings in the coverstock that, even if you can't really notice them, will affect the performance of your ball. After rolling so many games oil will enter the surface of the ball and the coverstock will lose some of it's bite. In order to bring it back you need a fresh layer of coverstock, and the only way to do that is by resurfacing. When you resurface you remove that oil soaked top layer of surface and restore the covers rigidity which will revive the reaction of the ball. So if your ball has lost some of its reaction don't be afraid to resurface!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I have enjoyed both Nirvana releases up to this point. I really like the way the core sets up before the roll phaze. I was expecting more hook from the Absolute with an earlier reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was correct about the Absolute Nirvana hooking earlier than the original Nirvana. The lower grit finish definitely reads the lane faster which will be great on heavy oil conditions.

What I wasn't expecting though was how much energy this ball had left at the pins, even on our THS testing pattern. This ball didn't burn up at all for me and that's unusual for such a strong ball.

Speaking of that, this ball is VERY strong. I would say one of the 5-10 strongest balls I've ever thrown. It's probably closer to #1 than #10.

There isn't a bowler that couldn't benefit from having this ball in their bag. Aside from super rev dominant bowlers, you're going to find a lot of uses for the Absolute Nirvana. Not to mention, this ball is great polished, which makes it even more versatile.

Brunswick is making as good of stuff as anyone out there right now, and the Absolute Nirvana is near the top of the list!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box ( 500 Siaair Micro Pad; Rough Buff)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
Brunswick has always been known for making bowling balls with a strong, predictable reaction. Whether it was the Danger Zone, Speed Zone, Inferno or Nexxxus f(P+S), their benchmark reaction was one of controllability and versatility. After looking at the core and coverstock of the Aura, I expected just that... as well as a lot of hook!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Exactly what I expected! This ball really has the reaction shape of the Zones from the 90's, just a lot stronger! This ball rolls so smooth, it's unlike anything on the market right now. This is a ball that can be used on a wide variety of lane conditions, including heavy oil! With a bit of surface, this could be the strongest ball on the market. It's easy to read, easy to make adjustments and carries wonderfully!

Trust me, you'll see Sean Rash throwing this ball A LOT this year! If you're looking for a new benchmark on heavier conditions, DON'T look over the Aura!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Aura Paranormal is an early rolling, heavy oil solid while the original Aura is a great all around ball for medium-heavy oil with a benchmark type reaction. With the Mystic Aura I was expecting more length due to the hybrid coverstock with the strongest backend reaction of the bunch.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Brunswick has given us the perfect compliment to the rest of the Aura line! More length with a very strong and predictable backend reaction! I loved watching this ball transition from the mid-lane to when it turned left on the backend. It created great entry angle but wasn't over/under at all and made adjusting easy. I highly recommend this ball!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I loved the Aura. I was expecting a stronger, earlier rolling reaction due to the coverstock finish.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

This ball is the perfect compliment to the original Aura. It had an earlier rolling, smoother reaction which is great for heavier conditions or the start of league when the Aura pushes a bit too far. The Aura Paranormal is super easy to read and that makes adjustments extremely simple. Sometimes the Aura could get in trouble with carrydown and the Paranormal is great at combatting this.

I would highly recommend the Aura Paranormal to anyone looking for a very strong, easy to control ball to be the first one out of their bag!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I was expecting a fairly strong, even rolling bowling ball. Something a bit of a step up from the versa-max, but a similar reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I couldn't believe the reaction I got with this ball! This ball had great length for a matte finished ball and was so strong on the backend! It was like a hockey stick. The carry was phenomenal as well because I was able to create the correct angle into the pocket.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of this ball, but I got one of the best bowling balls I've put my hands on in my life! If you want something for longer patterns or a strong ball for your THS league, don't pass this ball up!

This review is on Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowling Computer Game!

In my opinion, this is the greatest bowling video game ever created. I cannot tell you how many hours I spent on this game creating my own character and going through thousands of tournaments. It is so cool because you get to bowl with or against many great pros such as Walter Ray Williams Jr., Parker Bohn III, Chris Barnes, Mike Aulby and Randy Petersen. You were also able to switch between balls like the Danger Zone, Speed Zone and Combat Zone, and they all had different reactions just like in real life! The game is now a few years old, but the fun is just as good as it was on it's release date!

This review is on the Brunswick Diamondback!

This ball is what I would consider to be the perfect benchmark ball. A benchmark ball is the ball that you will pull out of your bag first, and the ball that will make adjustments and ball changes the easiest. Usually, you want a ball with a solid coverstock. Check. Second, you want a ball with a very even and controllable reaction. Check. Third, you want something that reacts best on Medium to Heavy oil. Check. Having a solid coverstock with an even reaction makes it easy to tell if you need to switch to a ball with more length or if you need something with more surface to start up sooner. This is paramount in making adjustments to improve your scores as the night goes on. So if you need a "benchmark" ball, don't look past the Diamondback!

I recently drilled a Fury Pearl by Brunswick, and I'd love to share some input about the ball with our faithful bowlingball.com customers.
Out of box my Fury Pearl was 15.03 pounds with 2.1 oz of top weight, and 3-4" pin. I did a simple 5x4 layout. My PAP of 4 ¾" over and ¼" up put the pin above and 1/16" to the right of my bridge, and the CG ½" right and ½" below center grip. I left the coverstock at the 4000 abralon box finish.
What I was looking for in this ball:
I wanted my Fury Pearl to get through the heads cleanly and make a strong but controllable move to the pocket.
What I got from this ball:
Exactly what I was looking for. The Fury Pearl got through the heads effortlessly. The move on the back part of the lane was much more than I was expecting, but it was a very welcome surprise. The surprises didn't end there however. The Fury Pearl is one of the most versatile balls I've ever thrown. I through it on a THS, and also on the PBA Shark Pattern. This ball seems to always do what you want it to. On the THS the Fury Pearl's backed reaction was very easy to read and wasn't overly aggressive. That being said, I wasn't expecting the pearl to do much on the Shark pattern. Boy was I wrong! The Fury Pearl took off when it hit the drier backends! I think with some surface adjustments and different layouts you could make an entire arsenal just using Fury Pearls. Overall, I got much more than I asked for.
Overall Hook: 4.5
Predictability: 5
Carry: 4.5
Overall Rating: 4.5
One of the most impressive balls I've thrown in a long, long time. Brunswick really hit the mark with the Fury Pearl!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Being a "vintage" model, I was expecting a ball with a "vintage" type of reaction. A tame backend reaction that is easy to read and controllable.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I absolutely love Brunswick bowling balls with solid, polished coverstocks. I always have starting with the Danger Zone, to the Speed Zone and on to the Red Alert. They just always seem to be great. The Vintage LT-48 is no exception.

This ball has great length and has a strong but smooth backend reaction on lighter conditions. It will allow you to face up to the pocket, stay more in the track area and still create angle to carry. Crankers and slower ball speeds will absolutely love this ball for house conditions and medium sport patterns.

This is an amazing, versatile bowling ball. I wouldn't have expected any less with the Brunswick and Johnny Petraglia names on the side!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

As a fan of all of the Mastermind series releases, I was hoping for something with versatility and a strong backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Mastermind Einstein is the 5th release in the Mastermind line and the 2nd hybrid. The 1st hybrid, the Genius wasn't quite strong enough in my opinion and rolled a bit too heavy. This lead to some carry issues at times. The Einstein is everything that the Genius should have been. This ball has great length and a strong, angular but smooth backend reaction. What we like to call the "hockey stick" shape.

Did I mention that this ball is strong? I was able to move inside and get it back from anywhere. It hooks slightly earlier than the Scholar but has a much stronger backend reaction.

In my opinion, this is the best Mastermind release yet. It's on par with the original Mastermind, though they are completely different animals. I've used this ball on numerous lane conditions and it's extremely adaptable. Also, this may be the best looking ball I've ever seen. This is a totally unique color scheme and it looks great on the rack and going down the lane. Use your brain and buy a Mastermind Einstein!

The Mastermind Genius is an extremely strong rolling ball. Once it gets started, there's no stopping it. The ball has good length for a ball this strong with an easy to read backend reaction. Down and in players will love this ball on longer patterns because they'll be able to create angle into the pocket. Crankers will be able to open up the lane on heavy conditions with this monster.

The Mastermind line is making challenging heavy oil conditions a lot easier to figure out. Let the Mastermind Genius be the brains, all you have to do is throw it!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was hoping for more length than the original Mastermind but with more midlane than the Mastermind Genius

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Mastermind Intellect is probably the most angular Brunswick ball I can remember throwing. The Intellect is a perfect fit between both of the previous releases. This ball really reads the midlane and once it starts hooking, it doesn't stop.

I believe that this coverstock and finish really shows off how great the Mastermind Ultra Low RG core is. The polished, solid coverstock stores enough energy to really allow the core to show off what it can do. I was able to play more inside than with the previous Masterminds because I was able to create angle into the pocket. The carry was great and the pins were kept low.

The Mastermind Intellect is the perfect ball for lower rev bowlers looking to create angle into the pocket and for anyone looking for a ball for longer oil patterns!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
After looking at the specifics for the Meanstreak, I was expecting good length with a strong backend reaction that's easy to read.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Not only did I get what I was looking for, but I found a reaction as close to one of my favorite balls of all-time as I've ever seen. This ball reminds me of the Brunswick Monster Red/Black (it even looks like it!). I was able to throw the Monster on all house shots and it was a monster (pun intended) on longer patterns. It's rare that you find a pearl that reads the midlane as well as the Meanstreak. This allows you to predict how the ball will react and keeps pins low for better carry. This ball is really a winner!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I'm a huge fan of the Meanstreak and Meanstreak Brawler. The only time I get in trouble is if these two push a bit too long or aren't quite as smooth as I like on the backend. I wanted the Meanstreak Beatdown to be earlier rolling with an extremely even rolling reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

This is one of my favorite reactions I've seen in a while! The Beatdown is VERY smooth and is quite a strong ball. It was amazing for me on our fresh house pattern and I had tons of area. I feel like I could stay with this ball all night by just making adjustments to the left. This ball had no trouble turning the corner. I also was able to throw the ball on a shot with carrydown and this ball made it so easy! The Meanstreak Beatdown is a monster!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I was looking for a ball with good length and a very strong backend. Brunswick said that this is the strongest backend reaction they've ever created. This is what I was hoping to see to pair with the Nexxus.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Brunswick didn't lie, this ball is VERY strong on the backend! For me, the ball wasn't very angular though which I really like. It reminded me of a hybrid coverstock, which is my favorite. If you stay behind the ball it is very smooth and if you get around the side of it, it will fly on the backend. This will make the Nexxxus extremely versatile and great on tough conditions.

In my mind, this is the best Nexus series ball to this point. I can see Rash and Loschetter really doing some damage on tour with this bad boy this year!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I knew that the Nirvana was replacing the Mastermind line and being a dull, solid I was expecting a ton of hook!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Nirvana certainly didn't let me down in the hook department! This ball absolutely flies and will be a great option on the heaviest of oil.

What I really liked about the Nirvana though was that even for a dull ball, it got down the lane well, even on our test conditions (house shot). It saves its energy and provides an extremely strong, smooth reaction on the back part of the lane. This ball reaction really harkens back to what Brunswick was known for in the 90's and 2000's. This ball rolls like a Zone with surface. (Look at the Nirvana logo sideways and I think you'll agree, that's what they were going for) I don't think I can give a much better endorsement than that!

I was basically striking at will in our test of this ball. So fun to throw! It's not often that you see a ball that you truly believe can improve the games of bowlers of all styles but the Nirvana is one of them.

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (500/1000 Grit)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I started bowling around 1997, when Quantum was at the height of their popularity. As a young kid, the Quantum brand was the ultimate to me. They were quite expensive at this time, so I saved and saved and the Fire Quantum was the only Quantum I was ever able to get. Quantum was always known for the way they stored energy though the pins and their outstanding carry. The Fire Quantum had great length but had a very heavy roll. I've never had another ball that really reacted similarly so I was excited to see if Brunswick could recreate it.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The first shot I threw with the new Fire Quantum was like jumping in a time machine. Other than the color being slightly different, this ball rolled exactly like I remembered the original rolling. Great length, but that heavy roll that I remembered. When I say heavy, I don't mean early rolling. It has some angularity but it's extremely predictable.

What I loved about the original and the new version so far was that you never seemed to have over/under, which is a usual drawback to a pearl coverstock. The original was the first pearl I ever remember being a viable option on heavier conditions and the new version is the same way.

The Fire Quantum is a ball that will cover a very wide range of lane conditions. The Quantum core matched with a strong, predictable pearl coverstock just reads the lane so well. The thicker coverstock and less filler material really improves carry and power through the pins. I'm extremely impressed with Brunswick's ability to create a new version of one of the greatest balls of all-time. It will also be one of the greatest of modern times as well.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I started bowling around 1997, when Quantum was at the height of their popularity. As a young kid, the Quantum brand was the ultimate to me. They were quite expensive at this time, so I never was able to have one of the Forest Greens for myself (though I did throw a few of my friend's and loved them). Quantum was always known for the way they stored energy though the pins and their outstanding carry. Predictability and versatility was a benchmark of Brunswick/Quantum, so I was expecting to see these same qualities.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I am a sucker for a bowling ball with extreme predictability, and the Brunswick Quantum Forest Green is the most predictable ball you'll ever throw. After the first shot, I knew exactly what the ball was going to do from there on out. Most people want to see a ball that boomerangs on the backend, and there are times where this is needed. I will take finding the pocket and easy adjustments any day over that sort of reaction.

I've had one league session since I drilled this ball. I was able to use this ball all night, moved only a board and half and never missed the pocket. I'm definitely not a throwbot, so the fact that this ball read the lane so amazingly was super exciting. When this ball hits the pocket, people take notice. Brunswick did an amazing job of recreating the reaction of the original Forest Green, but for today's conditions. It's like I was taken back to when I first started bowling, which was so fun.

I can guarantee that this ball won't leave my bag for a very long time (if ever). I just know that this is going to be my go-to ball on tough conditions and any other time I can keep my angles in front of me. 5 stars doesn't seem like a high enough rating for this ball.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I love the original Ringer. For me it is extremely easy to read and it makes bowling on tough conditions much easier. I was hoping that the Platinum Pearl would give me more length and more pop on the backend

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Ringer Platinum Pearl is a great addition to the Brunswick arsenal. For me, it matches up perfectly with the original Ringer by giving a cleaner look through the heads and a much stronger backend reaction. It's still predictable but it's got more pop than you expect.

The Platinum Pearl will allow bowlers to square up to the lane and create more angle into the pocket when they do. This ball will be great on short oil and for those with a lot of hand!

I have drilled a bunch of the Columbia 300 Freezes for customers, and this ball is worth way more than what we charge for them! If you're someone with slow ball speed that needs a ball to get down the lane and have a nice controllable backend motion, or you're looking for an option for lighter to medium volumes of oil, the Freeze is awesome! The Freeze features the NE2 coverstock which was on last year's Momentum (An awesome ball!) and inside is the proven Messenger core from the late 90's - early 2000's. Probably the most successful core Columbia has ever made. The bang for your buck is so far off the charts I can't even tell you!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball and Layout:

One look at the logo and my excitement for the Impulse was through the roof. It is a throwback to the Pulse line of balls from the 90's which were amazing. Extremely versatile and controllable. I was hoping that the Impulse would have these same characteristics.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Just as the Pulse line was, the Impulse is going to be your go-to ball when the lanes are tough. The Impulse has really good length with a strong but easy-to-read backend reaction. I love when I can see a ball revving up in the midlane. I feel that it makes the ball more predictable and more forgiving. This is exactly what I saw with the Impulse.

I was able to play all parts of the lane with the Impulse. I could stay right, stay firm with my speed and score really well from outside. If I wanted to move inside and hit it, the ball had no issues turning the corner and getting back to the pocket.

The Impulse is a ball that gives you options, what more could you ask for?

There used to be a time when the only kind of grip sacks you could find were either filled with rosin or hand conditioner. Rosin can make your hand sticky and hand conditioner can really dry your hand out to where it's uncomfortable and can cause cracks in your hand. Sometimes those products are great, but sometimes you just want to absorb some moisture. Well the Columbia 300 Microfiber Grip Sack is perfect because the microfiber material and silica-type filling will do just that! Pick one up today!

This review is on the Columbia 300 Pure Swing!

Columbia 300 has unleashed a real winner this time! It's pretty easy to see that though with Thomas Smallwood and now Mike Scroggins both winning on the PBA this year with the Pure Swing. The perfect compliment to the Full Swing due to the pearl coverstock with the Tour Finish. Once your Full Swing starts to be too much or is rolling out, switch to the Pure Swing for a touch more length and keep the same ball reaction all league night or tournament long!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Swerve was one of my top 3 balls of 2015 and might have been the ball I threw the most last year. It was so predictable and strong, my kind of ball! Needless to say, I was super excited to throw a pearl with the same core!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Swerve FX is everything I was expecting a pearl Swerve to be! Great length, strong backend reaction but easy to read. I never had any issues with over/under with the FX. Due to the core, this ball reads the midlane really well for a pearl and this makes the ball super controllable.

The reaction is reminiscent of old school pearl reactions, for me. I'm reminded of the red Tour Boss Pearl and the Triton Heat. These balls had the same reaction. Long, strong, but you can see the ball revving up and then turning the corner and never stopping. This is my kind of ball reaction. I'm able to move inside, hit it as hard as I want and I don't have to worry about the ball jumping on me.

The Swerve line is amazing and the Swerve FX is the perfect compliment to the solid counterpart!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Ask anyone who knows me and they know I'm a HUGE fan of the Swerve line. Both the Swerve and Swerve FX have both been in my bag at every bowling session since their release. There is quite a gap between the two though. The Swerve is early and the FX goes very long and is extremely angular. I was hoping for something to bridge the gap.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

It's difficult to explain how well the Swerve GT completes the trilogy. In terms of length, the GT is in between the Swerve and FX. In terms of angularity, it's the smoothest when compared to the other two. So in a way, each of the Swerve releases take different parts of the other releases to make 3 balls that complement each other perfectly.

I would actually say that the Swerve GT is the strongest of the bunch when overall hook is concerned. When compared to my Swerve, I was 2-3 boards left with the GT. I also absolutely love the way this core carries. For me, it revs up in the perfect place and allows the ball to go through the pins at the perfect angle, depending on which ball I'm using.

I know this review is about the Swerve GT, but it's just as much about how well each ball goes together. The Swerve line is amazing and if you're going to give it a try, start with the GT. It's the perfect blend of both of the previous releases.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball and Layout:

Judging by the core numbers (low RG/High differential) and the sanded, solid coverstock, I was expecting a ball for use on heavy oil.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I got exactly what I was expecting with the Tyrant and that was A LOT of hook. The Tyrant is extremely strong and extremely controllable. These are two important characteristics when you're bowling on tough, heavily oiled lanes.

I loved the way the Tyrant went through the pins. It kept the pins low and really created a lot of pin action on the deck. I also loved how versatile the Tyrant was. I was able to use this ball for a lot longer than most heavy oil balls. I was able to keep moving inside and the ball would still finish. I was very impressed with the Tyrant and I would say it's my favorite true heavy oil ball from Columbia since the Resurgence. If you're looking for a ball with hook and predictability, the Tyrant is a great option!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I love hybrids so I was looking for a strong, controllable reaction with good length.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Urge has a very unique ball reaction, especially for Columbia 300. This ball has good length but rolls very heavy once it starts the hook motion. I was very impressed with the continuation after the hook phase. A lot of times when a ball has such a strong midlane read, you'll encounter over/under once the oil starts to push down. I didn't experience this at all with the Urge.

Higher ball speed players and bowlers with a lot of axis rotation will love this ball because it starts up and has a very heavy, forward roll. I'm impressed with this new look from Columbia!

This is the perfect shoe for any beginning bowler! What's worse than going up to the lanes to bowl and having to pay 4 to 5 dollars to rent bowling shoes? You know how they're going to slide and most importantly, who's been wearing them! The Dexter Connor will give you a consistent slide each and every frame, all while giving you sturdy and comfortable support. If you're ready to hit the next level it's time to get some shoes of your own, and the Dexter Connor's are a great option!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The original Nightmare was extremely strong and early rolling for me. I was expecting the Brutal Nightmare to get more length with a much stronger backend reaction using the same layout.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

This ball is an absolute train on the backend of the lane! The ball gets through the heads well, makes a pronounced read in the mid lane and took a left turn on the backend. Talk about opening the lane up!

For me, this is the best ball that DV8 has created up to this point. I believe all styles of bowlers will benefit from this ball. Low rev players will love the angle they can create from outside, tweeners will be able to play multiple lines and crankers will be able to move as far left as they need and this thing will rip back. Don't sleep on the Brutal Nightmare... I know the pins won't!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Vandal was one of my favorite balls this year and has gotten a lot of use. This is the first release with the Composite Solid coverstock and I loved the Composite Pearl on the Vandal. I was very excited to throw this ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Deviant is the perfect benchmark ball in my opinion. A polished, symmetric solid with good length, smooth backend reaction and medium-high overall hook potential. In my opinion, this type of ball provides the proper angle of entry in to the pocket on the widest variety of lane conditions. If you're only going to have one ball, you want a ball like this.

I love the way this ball (and the Vandal) go through the pins. This ball just hits HARD. It's a ball where when you strike, all of the pins are in the pit, not on the deck. This makes it much easier to read how the ball is going through the pins and makes adjustments easier. I highly recommend the Deviant as the first ball out of your bag!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Diva... a pretty pink and black bowling ball. I can't say this was the most excited I've ever been to throw a bowling ball. Not that I have an issue with throwing a pink ball. I just wasn't sure if this was just a ploy to lure women instead of really creating a ball that fit a unique spot in their line.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Absolutely blown away by the reaction of this ball! Not only is this ball good, it is VERY good. Not only is it strong, it is VERY strong. It's got good length and absolutely rips on the backend!

I believe it fits perfectly between the Hell Raiser Terror and Marauder Madness. This ball will be great on carrydown and will allow you to move in and open up the lane on house shots. I also believe that this will be one of the best balls ever on longer, lower to medium volume patterns.

Don't let looks deceive you... whether you're a woman or man, the DIVA is a ball you will want in your bag!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Diva line has been a really solid group of balls for DV8. I was excited to see that they were using the Composite Flip Pearl coverstock on the Diva XOXO. I was hoping to see a Diva that really went long with a strong backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

DV8 really knocked it out of the park with the Diva XOXO. This ball goes as long as any DV8 ball I've thrown and really takes off on the backend!

This ball will be amazing for when the pattern pushes you inside and you need something with enough angle on the backend to carry the corners. Slow ball speeds will love this ball because it gets down the lane with ease. Crankers will be able to use this ball on long patterns even up to medium-heavy conditions.

The Diva XOXO is a needed addition to the DV8 line and pairs perfectly with the other Diva releases. Kiss (and hug) your competition GOODBYE!

The Nightmare series is known for LOTS of HOOK. I was looking for something with a bit more length than the original Nightmare and more overall hook than the Brutal.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

DV8 has finally hit the mark on a heavy oil ball that works for all styles! Being very high rev, the original Nightmare hooked too early for me the majority of the time. The Endless Nightmare with its hybrid coverstock had good length for such a dull ball with a HUGE backend reaction. It is the strongest ball I've thrown from DV8 and I can't wait to polish this ball, more length with insane backend reaction!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I went with a little different layout on the Grudge to play with to the strengths of the ball. I put the pin lower and a little closer to my axis for maximum hook and early roll. I was looking for a true heavy oil ball from the DV8 line.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

DV8 wasn't lying when they said this is the strongest ball they've ever created. There's no question... this ball HOOKS!

I was a bit surprised that even with my stronger, earlier rolling layout, this ball still cleared the heads well on our test pattern. This was great because it gave us room to miss right and still have the ball recover. I felt like I had the whole lane with the Grudge (and I pretty much did). A ball like this really makes tough sport shots with longer oil lengths and heavier volumes much easier.

My favorite thing about the Grudge though was the carry. It was 10 back every time I hit the pocket. I loved the angle this ball created in to the pocket as I believe it's the perfect angle to carry the corners.

DV8 has a real winner here and their first true heavy oil ball since the Hell Raiser Revenge (in my opinion). This ball is versatile and strong. Low rev players and speed dominant players will LOVE this ball!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
With the success of the Hell Raiser Revenge and it's super strong, early rolling reaction, I was expecting something with more length and killer backend. It's what we've all been asking for...

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
and DV8 didn't disappoint! This ball has GREAT length and an unbelievably strong backend reaction. This is exactly what I expected and was hoping for! Sometimes with strong pearls that have asymmetric cores you can get a ball that is difficult to read at times. Not the case at all with the HRT. This ball was very angular but still controllable at the same time. This is what makes me think that this ball is a real winner.

It's scary to say this after how great the HRR was, but I think DV8 has created their best ball to date. The HRT is really going to turn some heads and put up some high scores. You will want this in your bag!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a fan of the Hooligan for medium conditions. I was hoping for a little more length.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Hooligan Taunt adds some much needed length the the DV8 line. This ball goes very long and has a controllable backend reaction. The Taunt is going to be a great fit on medium-light and short oil patterns. Paired with the original Hooligan and the Outcast, you've got everything you need to cover any medium to dry conditions.

The Hooligan Taunt really fills in the DV8 line!

Hybrids coverstocks are my favorite. I love the length paired with a controllable backend reaction. That's exactly what I was hoping to see with the Marauder.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Exactly what I expected! The Marauder is the new benchmark ball in DV8's lineup, in my opinion. Good length with a controllable backend reaction. This is the ball you want to pull out of your bag first on league night and the one you want to go to when you want to stay in the pocket on tough conditions. I also was really impressed with the carry on this ball! I had a hard time NOT striking with the Marauder!

If you're building an arsenal for the upcoming league season, start with the Marauder and build from there. You may not need much else in your bag though!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I loved the Marauder Madness and I was looking for the Marauder Mutiny to give me a bit more length and more pop on the backend.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Normally you can predict basically how a ball will react, but that wasn't the case with the Mutiny. I was shocked at how much more this ball hooked for me than the Madness. It was cleaner through the heads but I wouldn't say it had much more length than the Madness either. However, once this ball started hooking, it didn't stop! I had quite an angular reaction and this allowed me to carry extremely well. Don't judge a book by its cover with the Marauder Mutiny!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Misfit Pearl Neon Yellow I believe is DV8's first true option for drier lanes. This ball has great length and a very smooth backend reaction. Crankers are going to be in love with this ball on house shots and medium sport conditions.

This ball will be a killer on short oil sport patterns. Don't let the price of the bright color fool you... this ball has amazing performance!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was super excited to finally see a new pearl high performance ball from DV8. As a big fan of the core in the previous Ruckus releases, I was expecting to see more length and a devastating backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Ruckus Schizo is one heck of a ball! It's got really nice length which will be great to switch to once the Ruckus Feud starts checking up too early. When this ball hits the dry part of the lane, it absolutely rips back! What I really like about it is while it's super strong on the backend, it's not uncontrollable or unpredictable. This is very helpful as it reduces the chance of an over-under reaction.

I highly recommend the Ruckus Schizo when you need to move in and peel it back from the gutter!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The DV8 Rude Dude is the perfect step up from the Dude! This ball reads the mid-lane earlier and has a more pronounced, stronger backend reaction. This ball is very smooth and predictable at the same time. What I really liked was how low and explosive the pins were when this ball hit the pocket. It was almost like they were shot out of a slingshot!

The Rude Dude is an amazing choice for medium-heavy oil!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a bit miffed that DV8 was coming out with another hybrid Thug due tot he fact that the original is a hybrid. The Corrupt has a matte finish so I was expecting it to hook a bit earlier than the original Thug.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was shocked with the reaction of the Thug Corrupt. DV8 created the perfect complement to the Thug and Thug Unruly. The Corrupt does hook slightly earlier than the Thug and has more length than the Unruly. The really surprising thing was how strong the backend reaction was, even with a matte finish. The original Thug has great length and is very smooth. The Corrupt turns left on the backend.

The Corrupt is perfect for when the Unruly starts to hook to early and you need to move inside. I was very impressed with this ball and highly recommend it!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Thug Life definitely goes the longest of the Thug series. I loved that it still had the heavy roll that this core is known for, as you don't often see that in a pearl. This is great for when you need a ball with length but you don't want a super angular backend reaction.

This ball is perfect for longer patterns without a ton of volume and for rev dominant bowlers on heavier conditions. The Thug Life rounds out the Thug line perfectly!

I was pumped to see a new line from DV8 and I was happy to see that it was a pearl. I was hoping for length and a strong backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Vandal is probably my favorite ball ever from DV8. This ball has the elusive "hockey stick" reaction that is so coveted and so hard to find. It goes long (longer than any high performance ball from DV8 yet), and has a very strong, angular but easy to read backend reaction. I love this ball when I get to move inside because there's nowhere it won't come back from. It's not over/under at all and it's extremely versatile.

If you've been wanting to try DV8 and haven't yet, start with the Vandal.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Adrenaline Shot was a really good all around ball, great for sport shots. I was expecting the Overload to be stronger so I used my go-to strong layout hoping for a step up from the Shot.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Adrenaline Overload might be the smoothest reactive resin ball I've ever thrown. It almost reminds me of a urethane ball but with more overall hook. This ball is going to be a monster on sport conditions and patterns where the backends are flying.

High rev players are going to love this ball because they can put as much hand as they want and know that this ball won't overreact on the backend.

Slow speed bowlers will eat this up as well because it will get down the lane and not jump on the backend.

If you're looking for a ball that's easy to read, predictable and controllable... the Adrenaline Overload is a great option!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

This is my favorite layout. It is moderately strong with a very controllable backend reaction. After looking at the core numbers I was expecting this ball to fall in to the benchmark category and this layout is perfect for that type of ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Adrenaline Shot is one great, all-around ball. Bowlers are always looking for a ball that is “versatile”. A ball you can use on a wide variety of lane conditions. Well look no further.

The Adrenaline Shot has good length, even for a matte finish ball, and a moderately strong backend reaction. This ball is extremely easy to control and it's extremely easy to read the reaction. You won't have to worry that the ball is going to do something down lane that you're not expecting.

I think this ball is the perfect ball for medium oil, house conditions and really tough patterns. It truly is a great “benchmark” ball!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Gamebreaker 2 Gold follows in the footsteps of its brother, the GB2, with its versatility. When the GB2 starts hooking a bit too early or can't create enough angle from inside, switch to the GB2 Gold. They are a perfect 1-2 punch.

This ball has great length with more than enough pop on the backend. I would consider this the perfect house shot ball. Tournament bowlers will love this ball on short patterns and tough lane conditions.

There's a reason this core is so beloved and there's no doubt you'll see a lot of this ball on tour in the coming months!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

There is a ton of buzz behind the new Ebonite Mission Unknown! Most of it is because it marks the return of one of the great cores in Ebonite history, the Mission 1.0. The other reason is because 10% of the balls will be Red and 1% of the Gold! The rest of them are black with orange engraving. I love the surprise factor of this promotion.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Unfortunately, I didn't get a gold or red ball, but boy am I glad to have this core back in my bag! What I loved about the original Mission was it's ability to read the late midlane and really set up for the perfect angle to the pocket.

With the polished surface of the Mission Unknown, I get a little more length from it than the original Mission. However, this ball reads the midlane just like the original and sets up for a strong, controllably angular backend reaction.

The Mission Unknown is my perfect medium-heavy oil ball when you want to move inside and really hit the ball. This ball will come back from anywhere and won't jump on you.

Don't just buy this ball for the color, buy it because it's awesome!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I've always been a fan of Ebonite High Performance pearl bowling balls so my hopes were high.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Warrior is easily the best high performance release from Ebonite since the Mission/Mission 250k. It's possibly the best one since the Total NV. This ball actually reminds me of what the reaction would be if the Mission and 250k had a baby. The Warrior is smooth like the original Mission but not as angular or as long as the 250k.

The Warrior is what I would consider the definition of versatile. This ball is so easy to read and so dependable. You can throw this ball with confidence and know that it's going to react the way you're expecting. It's not the strongest ball in the world but it can easily be used from medium conditions up in to heavier conditions.

If you've been on the fence about Ebonite after some of their recent releases, hop over it and go get a Warrior! I'd give this ball 6 stars if I could.

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (500/3000 Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I have gotten a lot of use out of both the Warrior and Warrior Elite. I was hoping for an earlier, smoother reaction due to the new solid coverstock.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Warrior Supreme is exactly what the Warrior line needed. The earlier, smoother, stronger reaction fits perfectly with the previous two releases.

I loved how predictable this ball was. That's not always the case with pro performance asymmetric balls, even with matte, solid coverstocks. This ball really responded well to the variances in releases I tried. I love when I can make a ball do what I want it to do. That's an important sign in a versatile ball and one that will be great on tough patterns.

The Warrior Supreme can definitely handle heavier oil (especially if you take the cover to a lower grit), but it's able to be used on more than just that. This is a ball that will be successful for any type of bowler!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was excited to see a pearl coverstock matched with the FatMax core from previous Absolut releases. If there was one criticism of those balls, it was that more length was needed.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Hammer Absolut Flip provides the length that I've been looking for with this core. The added energy storage from the pearl coverstock really helps show off the versatility and performance of this core. This ball Absolut-ly Flips on the backend!

Another great thing about this ball is that I never thought I was going to overshoot the breakpoint with this pearl coverstock. Hammer chose the perfect pearl for this core. If you want a ball to turn the corner, get the Absolut Flip!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was expecting something in between the Bad Intentions Solid and Bad Ass due to the fact that this is a matte finished hybrid. I was a fan of the previous releases in this line, so I was excited to see where this fits.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Bad Intentions Hybrid is a ball that every owner of the Bad Intentions Solid needs to have. I loved the BI Solid but there were times when it used its energy too soon and didn't have enough pop at the pins. The BI Hybrid is the perfect ball to move to when you have this issue. It has more length than the Solid and quite a bit more pop on the backend.

I really liked how this ball carried. Light shots carried very well and so did high flush. Also, the swirl pattern on the ball really worked well for my eye downlane. I was able to tell whether I threw the ball the same each time. I like that.

Hammer did a great job with this ball as it fits perfectly in their line. Hammerheads, you're going to love it!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Widow line has been a staple for many years. The Gas Mask core is one of the greatest ever. By now, we all pretty much know what to expect from a Black Widow release. I was excited to throw this core with the new Semtex Hybrid coverstock that Hammer has formulated.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

One shot and I had flashbacks. This is the hockey stick reaction I remember from the original Black Widow! Only this time... it's stronger. The Dark Legend is the closest in reaction to the original of any Black Widow that's been released since (in my opinion).

This ball absolutely does not stop hooking once it starts. As I was testing the Dark Legend, I just kept moving left after each shot and the ball would come back from anywhere! This is a ball I feel I can play anywhere on the lane with. This is extremely helpful when you're bowling on tough conditions. It can allow you to open up a line that others can't play.

The Hammer Dark Legend has everything you want to see in a bowling ball: Strong hook potential, strong backend reaction, predictability and versatility. I highly recommend the Dark Legend for any bowler!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I've been a fan of pretty much ever Black Widow release. The Gas Mask core is amazing. I was excited to throw it surrounded by the new Semtek Solid coverstock, a version of which is on the Scandal.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Dark Legend Solid is another winner in the Black Widow Line. You still get the patented mid-lane read and controlled angularity of the Gas Mask core. The difference is that the Semtek Solid coverstock offers more traction in oil than we've seen from a Black Widow release. This ball will handle a good amount of oil at box finish and even more at lower grits.

The Dark Legend Solid is a controllable and predictable piece that covers a wide range of conditions. If you've thrown a Black Widow in the past and loved it, you're certain to love this one as well!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The original Black Widow is one of my favorite balls of all-time. I've been a fan of all of the releases that have used the Gas Mask Core. What really excited me about the Legend is that it is the first time a hybrid coverstock has been used with this core. My favorite type of coverstock paired with one of the greatest cores ever? Yes please.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Black Widow Legend has the hockey stick reaction you've come to know and love from previous Widow releases. The hybrid coverstock provides a really predictable reaction while still offering good length. This type of reaction helps you create the perfect angle into the pocket to carry the corners. There's a reason this core has been so successful. The Black Widow Legend only adds to the great legacy!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I never got a chance to throw the original Burgundy Hammer but I certainly know about the legend of it. It rolled early, strong and smooth. Hammer has set out to re-create this reaction for today's lane conditions.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The new Burgundy Hammer was everything I'd heard the original was. This ball was so smooth and easy to read. The carry was amazing. The Reacta-Thane coverstock does have the feel of an old urethane ball but the hook potential and ability to carry of a reactive resin. This ball is going to be unstoppable on heavier short oil conditions and longer medium oil patterns.

Sometimes taking a page from the past and updating it can create something even better than you expected.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was expecting a compliment to the First Blood with more hook. This is my go-to layout for a strong ball reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Cold Blood matches up perfectly with the First Blood. It has more overall hook but with a smoother and more predictable reaction. I loved the way this ball kept the pins low and gave me great carry on basically every shot.

The Cold Blood is going to be the first ball out of your bag on heavier/longer patterns. This ball does have good length as well so I believe you can stay with the Cold Blood longer than you can most heavy oil balls. Hammer knocked this one out "COLD"!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Hammer is marketing the Scandal as the strongest ball they've ever created. I sometimes struggle carrying with balls that hook too early, so I put the pin up for a little extra length.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Hammer was spot on: This is easily the strongest ball I've ever thrown from Hammer!

I was actually quite amazed at how well the ball got through the heads, even with the dull finish. It had a strong read of the midlane and once it started to hook, it absolutely didn't stop.

The new Carbon Fiber infused coverstock is really something special. Even when I was drilling in to the coverstock, I could tell something was different. It seemed more uniform than other covers. Well, when this ball hits the pins, it makes them fly like very few balls I've ever thrown. If you've ever thrown a ball that when it hits the pocket, it's almost like the pins were thrown around by a slingshot? This is one of those balls.

Speed dominant and low rev players are going to love this ball. This is the first true hook monster from Hammer in a long time (in my opinion).

Hammer is back on the heavy oil map with the Scandal!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Scandal was an amazing ball for me on heavy conditions. I was hoping to see more length with a stronger backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Scandal Pearl is exactly what I was expecting, and that's a really good thing. More length, more energy retention means a stronger reaction on the backend. What I love about this ball is you still get some of the amazing mid-lane read that you saw from the Scandal. This really helps reduce over/under from the pearl coverstock. It also ensures proper angle into the pocket for increased carry percentage.

If you were a fan of the original Scandal, the Scandal Pearl is a must have. The ability to move inside and create a stronger angle will allow you to cover a very wide range of lane conditions. Another winner from Hammer!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Viral has the most length of any ball I've tested. It goes super long and has a controllable backend reaction. This ball rolls much smoother than the pearl Vibes I've thrown in the past. In my opinion, this makes the Viral the perfect ball for short and light oil patterns. The carry was great and unlike some bowling balls that have great length, my reaction wasn't over/under and the ball didn't squirt.

If you're looking for a light oil piece, the Viral is awesome!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

As a fan of previous Panther releases, I was expecting something between the Black and Pearl Panthers being that this is a hybrid. Good length with a strong, controllable backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I got exactly what I was looking for. The Over Sized Diamond Core is known to provide a strong, predictable reaction and it certainly did on the Bloody Panther. The coverstock provided enough length, but still read the middle of the lane well and transitioned into the roll phase with ease. This is another great release from Lane #1 and should be in consideration if you're looking for a new benchmark ball!

This review is on the Lane #1 Curve!

Since the introduction of reactive resin bowling balls, there is one type of reaction that seems to be the hardest to reproduce. Unfortunately, it also is the reaction that is the most desired. We call this reaction the "hockey stick." A ball that will get through the heads with ease, read the midlane but not start hooking and when it gets to the backend makes a smooth but angular move. A very strong reaction, but very controllable as well. It's extremely hard to find this type of reaction. The original Storm Black Thunder had the "hockey stick" and so did the original Black Widow. It's the sexiest reaction in bowling, and Lane #1 has brought sexy back faster than Timberlake! The new Curve has the "hockey stick" down to a science. It's the strongest ball with this reaction I've ever seen, and being the most forgiving ball move, this thing is going to be a huge hit. We have a test ball installed with Switch Grip at our shop, and everyone who throws this ball falls in love with it. The hit is unbelievable and the carry is even better. This type of reaction is optimal for kicking the 10 pin out as well as creating messengers. If you've never tried a Lane #1 ball, this is the ball you've got to start with. The Curve - the smoothest, strongest and sexiest ball on the market!

If you've never tried a Lane #1 ball, this is a great time to start! The G-Force Evolution really gets down the lane well and makes an aggressive angular move to the pocket. The pin’s worst nightmare is here! The Lane #1 Massacre Red Death builds on the Lane #1 ChainSaw Massacre’s domination, and takes in to a whole 'nother level! This is one of the biggest hooking balls I have ever thrown! If you're looking for something for heavy oil conditions, you cannot go wrong with this ball. Lane #1 has always been known for making good equipment, but I think this is their best release to date. If you've never given this innovative company a try, now's the time! I was excited to see the release of the Ripsaw to the Lane #1 arsenal. Lane #1 is known for having some of the best equipment on heavy volumes of oil. This has been known for years. Well I was happy to see a ball that should allow you to say with Lane #1 once your Stealth Bomber or Droid start to hook too much. As always, I expect a smooth, predictable reaction from this polished solid.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Exactly what I expected and exactly what all fans of the buzzsaws needed! This ball will be a great step down on medium/dry conditions and can allow crankers to play more in the track area of the lane. I really believe that the Ripsaw expands Lane #1's arsenal to compete with any company out there. If you haven't given them a shot, now's the time!

This review is on the Mongoose Lifter!

In my opinion, the Mongoose lifter is the best wrist support in bowling. The Lifter isn't a crutch by any means, it's actually a great teaching tool. The strap for your fingers really helps you to learn how to correctly lift the ball to create revolutions and hook. The pamphlet that comes with the support says to put your pinky inside the strap as well, but I found that if you put just your middle and ring fingers you will get quite a bit more lift. If you wear the Lifter for a while, even when you take it off, you will still have the same feeling and you muscle memory will make you lift the ball! If you have wrist problems, your hand and wrist will be supported really well. This support taught me how to throw the bowling ball well, and I stand behind it 100%. Don't go for one of those "Robo Cop" wrist crutches, go with a product that will actually teach you the right way!

Relation Weight Layout – 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 2 7/8"

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit Polished)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Antidote is the follow up to the extremely popular Pathogen from Pyramid. The Antidote features the “brand spanking” New Era 149 Symmetric Core with the same coverstock as the Pathogen. I absolutely loved the Pathogen so I was excited to see how they complemented each other.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Antidote is unlike any Pyramid ball up to this point. In my opinion this is the ball that completely rounds out the Pyramid lineup. The Antidote allows you to control the back part of the lane. This is such a big key on short oil or medium oil conditions. The Antidote reads the lane quite early which allows you stay farther outside than you normally would on these types of oil patterns.

Did I mention that this ball looks AWESOME?

I loved that I could hit this ball as much as I wanted and it wouldn't overreact on the backend. It was so easy to read and so controllable. This is your go-to ball on difficult lane conditions. The Antidote really is the perfect solution! #chooseyourpath

Relation Weight Layout - 5.5" x 5.5" x 2 1/2"

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Blood Moon is the newest addition to Pyramid's High Performance line of bowling balls, joining the Blueprint and Dark Path (my two favorite Pyramid balls). With this layout I was looking for more length than the Blueprint with slightly less hook.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was not expecting the Blood Moon to be one of the most versatile balls I've ever thrown. What I loved was the way I was able to carry from all parts of the lane. If I played up the outside part of the lane with speed, this ball held the line and made the perfect, late dive into the pocket. If I moved inside, it was plenty of ball to get back to the pocket but with enough angle to carry out the corners.

I truly feel like I can make this ball do anything I want. I feel like I can use this ball on almost all lane conditions, save for the extreme heavy or extreme dry, and score really well. I've tested this ball extensively and on a wide variety of patterns and I can always find a great line to the pocket.

I can't recommend the Pyramid Blood Moon any more... you have to try one to really know what I mean!

Surface Preparation -
Ball 1: Out of Box (2000 Grit Abralon/Factory Finish Polish)
Ball 2: 500/1000 Grit Abralon

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Blueprint Solid has been the first ball out of my bag for a year. It's an amazing all-around ball so I was extremely excited to throw a pearl version. There are times when the Solid will hook too early once the lanes start to break down a bit. Hopefully the pearl will provide the perfect ball to switch to when this happens.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Ball 1: The Blueprint Solid was very angular so I was expecting the pearl to be more angular. I wasn't expecting it to absolutely TURN LEFT on the backend. This is the perfect complement to the original in my opinion. When I had to move inside with the solid, at times it didn't have enough angle to make it back and carry the corners. Let me just tell you, that won't be an issue with the Blueprint Pearl.

What I love about this ball though is that it's still easy to read even with the ridiculously strong backend reaction. I haven't found a time where it's been over/under. This is extremely important for a pearl ball. I think I'm in love...

Ball 2: With the sanded surface, this could easily be the first ball out of the bag. It still has great length but with a smoother backend reaction. I honestly can't decide which surface I prefer. That's when you know you've found a really great all-around ball.

I guess that's why I have two in my bag... I don't have to decide! For those of you who will only have one, think about what you need. Do you need length and an angular skid/flip reaction? Do you need good length with a smoother, controllable backend motion? Not sure what you need? The Blueprint Pearl takes surface changes really well, so you don't have to know right off the bat. #chooseyourpath

Ball 2: 500/1000 Grit Abralon

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Chosen One uses the core from two of the best all-around balls I've ever thrown, the Chosen Path and Dark Path. They've wrapped it with a brand new hybrid coverstock which I was excited to see paired with one of my favorite cores. Excited is an understatement!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Ball 1: Simply one of the best first impressions I've ever gotten from a bowling ball. This ball just seemed to read the lanes in all the right spots. It was controllable, strong and versatile. I felt like I could play anywhere on the lane and get this ball to strike. With the box finish, you're going to see good length with a strong, easy to read backend reaction. Move inside and watch this ball come back from anywhere.

Ball 2: This ball really surprised me. I am blown away with the way the surface change affected the reaction. With the lower grit, sanded finish, this ball became an absolute hook monster that I believe you can throw on the heaviest of oil. It is so smooth but it still has a very strong reaction on the backend. I'd describe it as a Chosen Path on steroids.

I honestly believe that ANYONE can throw the Chosen One and have amazing success with it. Drill it with your favorite layout and you can adjust the surface to fine tune the reaction to your game. Pyramid has really outdone themselves with this release. Even without their amazing pricing structure factored in, the Chosen One is up there with any ball on the market when it comes to performance. Factor in price and I believe this is the best ball in bowling. #chooseyourpath

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Being that this is the first performance release from Pyramid Bowling, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Asymmetrical core, solid coverstock with a matte finish. It is available in two colors, Hot Pink/Acid Lime and Orange/Smoke. Both colors looked great when I pulled them out of the boxes. I've never seen a company offer the same High Performance ball in two different colors. I was expecting a ball that was fairly strong and early rolling.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

If this first release is a sign of the future for Pyramid Bowling, expect a new heavy hitter on the bowling scene! First impressions:

-I couldn't believe how much this ball hooks! It stands up to the highest performance balls from any company that I have personally thrown.

-This ball is unbelieveably versatile. Even with the solid coverstock and 2000 grit surface, the Chosen Path had good length and a very strong but controllable backend reaction. I was able to play multiple parts of the lane and even was able to stay with this ball as the lanes broke down. I am extremely impressed!

Making the leap to a new company is certainly something that can be a difficult decision to make. However, I have absolutely no reservations in suggesting the Pyramid Chosen Path to ANY bowler looking for a strong, controllable ball on heavier oil patterns. Also, judging by the price of this ball, the value you are getting is through the roof. Don't be scared of trying a new name because you will have a new look on the lanes that will show up on the scoreboard (in a good way)!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Curse features another new core from Pyramid Bowling, the SG Equinox Symmetric which is paired with the coverstock from the Divergent Path Solid, but polished. Knowing how strong that coverstock is and looking at the core numbers, I was intrigued.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Curse is one of those bowling balls that you throw once and fall in love. One shot in and I knew that this would be the first ball out of my bag from here on out. The Curse is a bowling ball that EVERY bowler will have success with.

I've said in the past that I'm a huge fan of benchmark ball reaction and that a benchmark ball should be a polished, symmetric solid. The Curse is the best example of a benchmark ball that I've ever thrown. Strong, good length and controllable on the backend. This type of reaction will cover a wide range of lane conditions.

You ever hear the saying “just let the ball do the work”? With most bowling balls you're not going to see much reaction if you do that. With the Curse, lay the ball on the lane with a bit of rotation and let it go to work. If you've never tried a Pyramid ball, start with the Curse. This ball is as good as anything on the market, if not the best. #chooseyourpath

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The original Dark Path has probably seen more action on the lanes from me than any other Pyramid ball (or any other brand) in the last year. Obviously, I was super excited to throw the new Dark Path 19.5. Being a fan of symmetrical cores more than asymmetric, this doubled my excitement. I used a layout which gives me a bit more length and smooths out the backend for me. I wanted a great compliment to the original.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Dark Path 19.5 has amazing length, even with its 2000 grit, matte finish coverstock prep. When the ball reaches the end of the midlane and reaches the backend, you can actually see the ball revving up for a very strong, smooth backend reaction. I'd compare it to a slingshot getting pulled back. You know what's going to happen once it lets go. Once this ball hits the dry part of the lane, it takes off but it's not erratic or uncontrollable.

This will be my go-to ball when I need to get way left because I know it will turn the corner. It has the right amount of length to create the proper angle into the pocket when you're that far inside. I also can't say enough about the pin action and carry. The pins are kept low and the deck is cleared with the 19.5. For me, a combo of the 19.5, Blueprint and original Dark Path are such a powerful lineup that will give me much success this year.

I found my dark side with the Pyramid Dark Path 19.5 Hybrid!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit Sheen)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The new Force from Pyramid brings a new core into the mix with the SG Precessional Asymmetric. It's a medium and differential core which should offer high flare and a strong overall motion.

I used my favorite layout which provides me with a great all-around ball reaction. This layout allows me to change my release and see different results. The GPS Navigational Solid coverstock is a proven winner, so I had high hopes for this ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Let me start by saying that I'm not normally a fan of sanded, heavy oil asymmetric balls. They generally tend to burn up for me and I have carry issues. I normally have to polish them and can only use them on the heaviest of oil.

The Force does NOT abide by my general rules!

First impression: I love the way black bowling balls look going down the lane. WOW, that hooked a lot more than I expected, especially on the backend.

Second impression: This ball really stores energy well for such a strong ball.

Third impression: I'm standing all the way left, throwing it all the way out and I've got 7 strikes in a row. Am I really creating this much angle and carrying this well with a matte asymmetric?

This is my kind of bowling ball. I can move left, get around the side of the ball a bit more and really hit it and it will come back from anywhere. I can also move right, stay behind the ball and see a smoother backend reaction which allows me to keep my breakpoint in front of me.

This might be the first true heavy oil ball that keeps a permanent place in my bag. I love the Pyramid Force! #chooseyourpath

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was extremely excited for a lower/mid performance ball from Pyramid. Something that I could move farther right on the lane and still have nice angle into the pocket.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was a bit shocked when I first threw the Path Rising. This ball certainly performs above its performance level! I was amazed at how long this ball went and the backend reaction was unparalleled at this price level.

The Rising did allow me to move farther right than I normally can but the backend reaction is the same strong, controllable motion I've come to expect from Pyramid. This ball is perfect for me to go to once my Pyramid Path Origin Pearl starts to hook too much. I plan on drilling a few more of these with weaker drillings to give me even more options on dry lanes.

Don't let the price fool you, this is one heck of a ball! For a beginner looking for their first reactive ball, I wouldn't suggest anything other than the Pyramid Path Rising!

Surface Preparation -
Ball 1: Out of Box (2000 Grit Abralon/Factory Finish Polish)
Ball 2: 500/1000 Grit Abralon

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Pathogen uses the core from the Path Rising and the coverstock from the Blueprint... two of the balls I've used the most over the past year! I'm expecting the Pathogen to fall in between these two lines, which is much needed in the Pyramid line.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Ball 1: I've said in past reviews that my favorite type of bowling ball is a polished solid reactive. I'm a sucker for a great benchmark reaction – decent length with a strong but smooth backend reaction. The Pathogen is the perfect benchmark ball with its OOB finish. Here's why I say that:

It's perfectly suited for medium oil. This is what you want in a benchmark ball. Something exactly middle of the road in terms of hook and length. Most “benchmark” balls these days are way too strong.

This is a ball that is going to be a favorite of tournament bowlers. When the lanes get tough, you want a ball that is easy to control. The Pathogen is the most controllable, polished solid I've thrown since the Zone line of the 90's. It's that good.

Ball 2: Much the same as the Chosen One, this ball became a different animal when we put the 500/1000 grit abralon finish on it. It was much stronger with an earlier roll and just as smooth. Crankers and rev dominant players, you will love the Pathogen with this finish on heavier conditions. Speed dominant and low rev players will love it on house conditions.

Every bowler should have a benchmark ball. It's so helpful in making adjustments and finding out where to play on the lane. The Pathogen is as good as any I've ever used. #chooseyourpath

PAP - 4 1/2" over

Relation Weight Layout – 5 1/4” x 3 3/4” x 2 5/8”

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit Abralon/Factory Finish Polish)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I love the original Pathogen, so I was extremely excited for the follow up. I had been hoping for a pearl Pathogen for quite a while. I used my standard test layout for this ball which is a moderately strong control layout. I was expecting to get more length than my Pathogen with a little more pop on the backend.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Let me start with my first impression. As someone who's favorite color is orange, this ball looks AWESOME going down the lane.

The main reason I loved the Pathogen was due to its versatility. I was able to use it on a wide variety of conditions with success. There were times though where it read the lane a bit too early or wasn't able to create enough angle on the backend when I moved way inside.

Let me say that Pyramid has created the PERFECT complement to the Pathogen in the Pathogen X. This ball glides through the heads with ease, but I loved that it still read the midlane just like the Pathogen. Due to this, in all of my time throwing this ball (about 4 weeks so far), I've not encountered any over/under at all. This is huge for a pearl ball because most pearls will find over/under, especially when it's polished. Not the Pathogen X.

Once the ball hits the backend, it absolutely flies toward the pocket. It's angular but it's easy to control. If you need to move inside and get it back from anywhere, the Pathogen X will accomplish that.

As I mentioned, I've thrown this ball for 4 weeks so far. My favorite part about the Pathogen X is how responsive it is to my changes in release. This makes the ball unbelievably versatile. I can normally play anywhere on the lane that I want to with this ball. Stay right, keep the speed up and play down and in – check. Move way left, get around it and hook the lane – check. Is the pattern a little longer than normal? Stay behind it and get the ball in a roll sooner – check.

At this point I'm confident saying that this is my favorite Pyramid ball of all-time. If you've never tried Pyramid, this is your ball.

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (500/1500 Siaair)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I really like all of the Guru releases so far but I couldn't understand why they released another sanded, solid with the same core. Aren't we going to overlap reactions?

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

One throw with the Guru Supreme and I knew why they released this ball. This ball has reaction that you just don't see very often. It's a ball that is as strong as anything out there, with a sanded finish but it doesn't burn up on medium conditions. It has enough length and energy retention to cover a wide range of conditions.

This isn't to say that this ball won't cover the heaviest of oil, because it ABSOLUTELY will. This ball is a monster. The only difference between the original Guru and the Supreme is a new coverstock. And what a coverstock it is. In my opinion, this is one of the most innovative coverstocks we've seen in a long time.

Anyone who needs a ball with super high hook potential but doesn't want a one trick pony definitely needs a Radical Guru Supreme in their bag!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box ( 500, 1500 Siaair Micro Pad)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Reax will be my first ball from Radical Bowling. I'm a big fan of Phil Cardinale's past releases with Dyno-Thane and 900 Global, so I had high hopes for this ball. Also, knowing that Mo Pinel also helped design this ball pushed my expectations even higher.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Reax is one of the most controllable and predictable bowling balls I've ever thrown. This is a true benchmark reaction and will give Radical an amazing foundation to build on. Make no mistake, this is a very strong ball! This certainly falls in the heavy to medium-heavy lane condition category. The Reax will be a real winner on long, sport patterns because of how easy it is to read the reaction.

If you've never tried Radical, this is the ball to start with. I see nothing but good things in the future for this company and for you if you drill up a REAX!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box ( 500, 4000 Siaair Micro Pad)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Reax Solid is a very early rolling bowling ball on heavy conditions. Once the oil starts to break down, this ball can hook a bit too soon and you start to lose carry. The Reax Pearl should give me more length but with the same even rolling, predictable characteristics.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Reax Pearl is one of the most easy-to-read pearl bowling balls that I've thrown. It is a very strong ball but the predictable reaction makes it extremely versatile. The Reax Pearl has the same type of reaction as the Reax Solid, but with more length. This allows me to stay in the same part of the lane as the lanes break down. Adjustments are much easier! If you're looking for a versatile, strong pearl, the Reax Pearl is your ball!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I'm always a fan of dark colored bowling balls with bright writing, so this ball got me pumped before even drilling it. I also love polished solids, so I was expecting a smooth, benchmark type reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Radical Ridiculous does have a benchmark reaction (polished solid, good length, smooth controllable backend) but what I like is that this ball is more suited for medium light oil. Most benchmark type reactions feature stronger coverstocks and you can't use them on lighter, shorter oil patterns. This isn't an issue with the Ridiculous.

This ball is so predictable and the logos really help you see the roll on the ball as it goes down the lane. This is the kind of ball you want to throw on tough conditions. A ball that will keep you in play and not get you in trouble.

Also, this ball is a cranker's dream. You can get a handful of this ball and it's not going to jump on you. Slow speed bowlers also will love this ball on medium conditions.

I can't say enough about the Ridiculous. It's just an all-around great ball!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box ( 500, 1000, 2000 Siaair/High Gloss)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Torrid Affair is my first bowling ball in this line from Radical. Since the ball has a solid coverstock with a symmetrical core, I'm expecting a smooth, easy-to-read reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Torrid Affair is the embodiment of what is called a "benchmark" reaction. A medium hooking, controlled reaction with decent length. A polished solid is the best way to achieve the benchmark reaction, and Radical has done just that. The Torrid Affair has good length with a fairly strong, predictable backend reaction. This should be the first ball out of your bag as it will allow you to decide quickly if you need more or less hook, more or less length. Most of the time though, you'll just stick with the Torrid Affair!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Reax along with the Yeti will be my first venture into Radical Bowling. I'm a big fan of Phil Cardinale's past releases with Dyno-Thane and 900 Global, so I had high hopes for this ball. Also, knowing that Mo Pinel also helped design this ball pushed my expectations even higher.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Yeti is one of the strongest rolling pearl bowling balls I've ever thrown. It is a surprisingly strong ball and once it gets into the roll phase of the reaction, it just doesn't quit. This is really going to help with pin carry and also make it easy to make adjustments. I loved this ball the most when I got in really deep and just revved it up. The Yeti had no trouble getting back to the pocket, no matter how far out I was able to throw it.

If you've never tried Radical, don't hesitate. I see nothing but good things in the future for this company and for you if you drill up a YETI!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball & Layout:

As a fan of the previous Yeti releases and looking at the dull finish of this solid ball, I was looking for something to hook earlier and more overall. The layout is one of my favorites for control and predictability

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

This ball certainly did not disappoint as far as hook and predictability are concerned. This ball is VERY strong for the price/performance range. With my rev rate, this is a ball that needs oil for me. I will take the surface up to a higher grit and that will allow me to use it more easily on a house pattern. If you're looking for a ball that will give you a ton of reaction without spending a ton of money, the Yeti Unleashed is an awesome choice!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Critical Theory was one of my favorite balls for its strength and amazing angularity on the backend of the lane. I was pumped to see that they brought back the Triliptic core and curious how it would compare to the Critical Theory with the new 67MH Hybrid coverstock.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

First impression: Holy cow, this ball really hooks! I wasn't expecting this much hook, but I think it's a great fit in Roto Grip's line. It is in between the Hyper Cell and the Haywire in terms of length and overall hook.

Just like the Critical Theory, this ball really finishes on the backend. It's more angular than the Haywire which gives me a different angle in to the pins which is necessary sometimes. The Critical is going to be a favorite on longer oil patterns and heavier oil conditions.

I did another test by adding Reacta Shine to the coverstock to polish it up and this becomes a totally different ball! Much like the original Critical Theory, the ball goes long and turns left on the backend! I really believe that the Critical can fit in anyone's bag with how versatile it is.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I absolutely loved the Defiant. I was expecting the Defiant Edge to be the perfect compliment for when the Defiant starts to read too early. I was hoping to see a strong backend reaction with the amazing carry the Paragon core is known for.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I saw exactly what I expected to see. When a company like Roto Grip gets into a groove, it's easy to predict what a ball will do because everything they make is great. They know what works and their design team is the best in the business. This will be a great compliment to the Defiant.

With the layout I chose I saw a bit too much length for my liking. When I drill another one, I will be sure to use a stronger layout. This isn't due to anything other than me choosing too weak of a layout. I also think that changing the surface to 4000 matte like the Critical Theory would be amazing on this ball. All in all, the Edge is going to be another big hit for Roto Grip. Learn from my mistake and drill the ball with a layout that plays to the strengths of the ball. Drill it strong and watch it fly!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The 3rd release in a line is always meant to compliment the first two releases. With the Defiant and Defiant Edge you have a great, early rolling solid and a long and strong pearl. I expected the Defiant Soul to be somewhere in the middle.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Defiant Soul is the best of both worlds! The 77H Hybrid coverstock has decent length and a strong but smooth backend reaction. More length than the Defiant, but less than the Edge. If your Defiant is hooking too early or your Edge is pushing too far down the lane. Switch to the Soul. Hybrid coverstocks are my personal favorite and this one certainly doesn't disappoint!

The Defiant series is one of the best carrying lines I've ever thrown. The Paragon core really helps keep the pins low and increase pin carry. I love the way the Defiant Soul goes through the pins. It makes it really easy to make adjustments and stay ahead of the transition. If you haven't thrown anything in the Defiant series yet, the Defiant Soul is the one to start with. If you've got one or both of them in your bag, you already know how much you want this ball!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Disturbed and Berserk are two of my favorite releases from the last year. There are times where they do tend to hook up to early, so I was excited for a pearl version. The pearl coverstock on the Deranged hopefully would give me more length for when the lanes start to break down.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Deranged is the perfect compliment to the other bowling balls in this line! This ball has very good length with a smooth but strong backend reaction. The Deranged is a very versatile ball that will perform well when you need length on a demanding oil pattern.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

WOW! I can't believe how much this ball hooks! Honestly, this ball had one of the strongest rolls of any ball I've ever thrown. It is extremely smooth and controllable. If you are a lower rev player looking for hook or if you're looking for a smooth option on heavier oil or carrydown, this is an amazing choice!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Nucleus core is one of the greatest in the history of bowling. I'm excited to throw any ball that features this core. What really intrigued me though was the fact that Roto Grip was adding a polished, solid coverstock ball to their HP4 line. Not to mention one that is targetted for medium oil.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Eternal Cell has got to be one of the most unique bowling balls I've thrown in some time. I also believe it's a ball reaction that's needed in today's game. This is evidenced by the fact of how many pros were throwing this ball at the World Series this year.

In my opinion, this is the perfect benchmark reaction. Good length, extremely smooth and easy to read, medium-medium/high overall hook. This ball is amazing on a very wide variety of oil patterns. You will love this ball on long patterns, house patterns, flat patterns and on carrydown.

Two things really stood out to me about this ball, the continuation and the carry. Once this ball gets in to the hook phase, it absolutely does not stop. This creates amazing drive through the pins. This translates to carry. The pins stay low and nothing is left on the deck. Take a look at our video and you'll see that I had to move left on every shot. No matter how much I moved, the ball would finish. It also carried even if it drifted a little high.

I love the fact that I can throw this ball with confidence that the ball will react the way I'm expecting, it will finish and it will carry. Without a doubt one of the best balls I've ever tested.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Knowing that the Haywire features the Disturbed core and Hyper Cell coverstock, I was expecting a very strong and smooth ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Haywire is certainly a very strong ball! I was honestly expecting the ball to hook earlier but it really got down the lane well. Dull solids that have length and a smooth, strong backend reaction are my favorite kind of bowling balls. The Haywire fits in this category. The reaction honestly reminded me a lot of the T-Road Solid, one of my top 5 favorite balls ever.
The Haywire is a ball you can throw on a lot of oil and on difficult long patterns. The ball is so smooth and easy to read.

I was extremely impressed with the way the ball went through the pins and how it carried. It was 10 in the pit every time I hit the pocket. Pins were kept low and no pins on the deck. That's what I look for in a ball.

I highly recommend the Haywire!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Knowing that Roto Grip already has the Hyper Cell (Early Rolling Heavy Oil) and Hyper Cell Skid (Long and Strong), I was expecting the Menace to fall between the two.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Menace is a beast! It happened to be exactly as I expected, the perfect bridge between the Hyper Cell and the Skid. It has more length than the Hyper Cell but hooks earlier than the Skid. Overall hook is very strong and has an angular but controllable backend reaction.

The Menace is a ball that can handle the heaviest of oil but it's also a ball that can be used on other conditions as well. After our testing, I polished my Menace and I can easily throw it on house conditions.

Overall, the Menace is a great all-around ball and another winner from Roto Grip!

The guys from Roto Grip have been rolling out some amazing bowling balls over the last few years. Obviously, the most successful of them all has been the Cell Line. Well the newest addition to that line, the Mutant Cell, takes the best parts of the former Cells and makes them better! I drilled my Mutant with the pin 5 from my PAP and the CG 4 inches away. This put the pin under my middle finger and the CG in the lower right quadrant. I was expecting a ball that was really going to hook, but to get down the lane a little easier than the original Cell. I wasn't expecting something THIS good! This ball really clears the heads well for a solid and makes the hardest roll to the pocket I've ever seen. The carry was phenomenal and I was able to use the Mutant the entire night during league. I cannot wait to take this freak to Reno with me for Nationals, and I know I'll see a lot of them there! I expect this to be the biggest winner out there this year! Roto Grip - King of them All!!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Roto Grip designed the all-new Chaotic Core and Micro DNA coverstock to bring a new heavy oil monster to their line. This is generally my least used category of bowling ball, but Roto Grip has been an exception to the rule in the past. I was hoping this would be the case again.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

HOLY HOOK! The No Rules ticks all of the boxes for a true heavy oil ball. Early roll, high hook potential, even ball motion. I have no doubt that this ball can handle any amount of oil as well as anything on the market. Also, being at 2000 grit, you have room to go lower with the grit if you need to.

I was a huge fan of particle balls. They seemed to read the lane at the perfect time for me, no matter the condition. I got the same sort of reaction from the No Rules. This ball truly reads the lane condition. It's like the ball knows when the core needs to take over or when the coverstock needs to shine. It's truly a masterful piece of design by Roto Grip.

Just to expand a bit, I was able to polish the ball (I kept the same OOB grit underneath) and absolutely loved it. It gave me more length with a devastating backend reaction. I'm going to love No Rules, polished, for longer oil patterns.

The No Rules is simply outstanding. All of our testers loved this ball, and that's not something that usually happens. Looking for hook and versatility? Grab a No Rules!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was super excited for another pearl option with the Paragon core. The pearl coverstock hopefully would give me more length and angularity for when the Defiant Soul hooks a bit too early or with not enough angle.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Totally Defiant might have the strongest skid/flip reaction of any ball I've ever thrown. This ball has great length with a mind-boggling left hand turn at the end of the pattern. This ball will allow you to move inside and still be able to create enough angle to carry the corner pins.

Roto Grip has hit another home run in the Defiant series with the Totally Defiant!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I love hybrids. I like the combination of pearl and solid for its tendency to have good length with a controllable backend reaction. That's exactly what I was wanting from the Wrecker on medium-dry conditions.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Roto Grip hit the mark on this one. The Wrecker is going to be a short oil destroyer! It's got good length and a smooth backend reaction like I was looking for. I think if you were to take the surface to 2000 with no polish, you would have a great bowling ball for medium oil patterns after the oil carries down. I loved the Shatter as well so now I know that the Neutron core is a real winner. Don't sleep on the Wrecker!

This review is on the Storm 2 Ball Tote!

This is the perfect bag for the avid tournament bowler or someone who just wants to carry those extra 2 balls to league! This bag only holds 2 balls and has no compartment for shoes which makes it nice and compact and easier to carry. The clear top allows you to see which two balls are inside without unzipping. Emblazoned with the famous Storm logos you'll have no problem transporting equipment... and you'll look good doing it! Bowl up a Storm!

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (2000 Grit)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The original Crux was one of the strongest and earliest rolling balls I've ever thrown. That was a hybrid so using the same core on a sanded solid made me a bit leery. I was expecting an extremely early rolling ball meant for the heaviest of oil.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

So, usually I can guess how a ball is going to react, just by knowing the core numbers/coverstock/finish. The Alpha Crux completely surprised me. This ball actually got down the lane better than the original Crux and stored energy better. This gave me much better pin carry on our medium oil testing pattern than I was expecting.

This ball is perfect in between the Crux and Crux Pearl. It is so smooth and easy to read the reaction. One thing I wasn't wrong about though was its ability to handle the heaviest of oil. It is a VERY strong ball.

I saw that a lot of the PBA guys/PWBA girls were polishing this ball. I decided to polish mine and that's where I fell in love! This ball becomes a long and strong ball with an easy to control backend reaction. The perfect “benchmark” ball.

Storm has another winner on their hands!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was extremely excited for a pearl version of the Sync. The Sync is one of the best heavy oil monsters ever. The pearl coverstock of the Byte hopefully would give me more length and angularity for when the Sync hooks a bit too early or with not enough angle.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Byte is the perfect name for this ball. It goes long and once it hit dry boards, it sinks its teeth into the lane! This ball is extremely stong and hooks very hard on the backend. It's a controllable reaction though, which is great on tough conditions.

Storm has created an amazing compliment to the Sync in the Byte and you should definitely get one in your bag!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Thunder line is my favorite line in all of bowling and has been for many years. All reincarnations of the Fe core have been great matches for my game. The releases in this line are as good as anything in bowling, in my opinion. With the Fire Road I was expecting to see a reaction similar to the Fired Up which was one of my favorite balls ever. The stronger R2X coverstock was sure to add hook potential to the formula. Needless to say, I was excited!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

With my expectations being through the roof, I wasn't expecting to be blown away because I was pretty sure what I would see. Boy was I wrong. The combo of the Inverted Fe3 core with the R2X pearl coverstock is a match made in heaven! This ball read our testing condition perfectly. I couldn't throw the ball too far out for this thing to come back from. The carry was amazing like every ball in this line and it looks great going down the lane.

Sometimes with a pearl coverstock you have the tendency for it to squirt or skid past the breakpoint. Well let me tell you, I never saw the slightest hint of this ball ever having that problem. It great length but you could see it preparing to make the move in the midlane as the core took hold. Like a prize fighter winding up to land a knockout punch you could see the ball ready to explode. That's exactly what it did. This ball has the potential to be one of my favorites ever and I promise you will see lots of this ball in the hands of Belmo, PDW and Norm on TV next year!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Hy-Road is one of the greatest bowling balls ever manufactured. I knew that the Hy-Road Pearl would give more length with the same great predictable, versatile reaction provided by the Inverted Fe2 Core. It's an understatement to say I was excited for a pearl version of the Hy-Road.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I was surprised by just how long this ball actuall went! Amazing length with a very smooth but sharp backend reaction. This is exactly the type of reaction you want to see when you need to move inside and still carry when the lanes break down. This will be the perfect compliment to the Hy-Road and add to the great Hy-Road legacy!

This review is on the Storm Invasion!

Can you feel it? The Invasion is here! I drilled my Invasion 4 1/2 x 4 from my PAP as this is about as strong a drilling as I will put on a bowling ball. I wanted something for heavy oil/tournament shots. The Invasion is by far the most aggressive ball I've ever thrown. The new R3X coverstock is a beast! Compared to my Virtual with a similar layout the Invasion is about 4 boards stronger and gets down the lane about 3 feet longer. The carry with this ball is unbelievable and this proves to me that the new Origin core is a great one, and will be around for quite a while. If you're looking for something that loves oil, this is your ball. Storm has had the last 2 Balls of the Year with the Virtual Gravity and Virtual Energy, and I expect another trophy up on the shelf for the 3rd year in a row with the Invasion! As always, Bowl up a Storm!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Knowing that this ball features the amazing Centripetal Core from the Marvel series, a great reaction shape was going to be a given. After reading about the new PFT coverstock, I was expecting a stronger version of the Marvel.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

This ball is exactly what I was expecting and hoping for! In my opinion, this is the ball Storm intended to make with the Marvel. It is much more versatile than the original Marvel as I got a bit more length and a really even rolling reaction, which I love. This ball really HOOKS! If the Premier line bowling balls like the Nano Solid or Vivid have a bit too much angle for you, but you still need something for heavy oil, the IQ will be one of your favorites.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

After looking at the core numbers and the fact that it's called the "Tour", I was expecting something predictable, smooth and versatile. I also was expecting a ball that wouldn't be overly aggressive.

On tough conditions you want a ball that is easy to read and something with a controllable reaction. I was expecting exactly that from the IQ Tour.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I got half of what I expected from the IQ Tour: predictable, smooth and versatile. What I wasn't expecting was for this ball to hook the way it did! The Tour was more aggressive than it's IQ brother with very good length for a matte finished, solid coverstock. The IQ Tour has an easy-to-read but strong backend reaction.

This ball reminds me of one of the Top 3 favorite balls of all-time, the Storm T-Road Solid, Ball of the Year for 2007. Not only is the color almost the same, but the reaction is almost dead on! If you ever threw the TRS, you know how amazing it was. To be able to have that reaction in my bag again makes me very excited!

This ball is a guaranteed winner. It isn't the most exciting looking ball, but the scores you put up will be. Get one in your hands!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

As a huge fan of the IQ Tour Solid and Pearl, I was hoping for something to fill the gap between two of my favorite balls.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

When looking for a bowling ball to complement another, not only should you think about overall hook, but also the length and shape of the reaction. Never has a bowling ball complemented two others like the IQ Tour Fusion does the IQ Tour Pearl and Solid!

The Fusion is the perfect blend of the length and angularity of the IQ Tour Pearl and the heavy, predictable roll of the IQ Tour Solid. The Fusion also fills the gap between the two as far as length is concerned perfectly. The Fusion owns the midlane. When you throw this ball, you know that it is reading the lane perfectly. This make adjustments so easy.

I can't say enough about the IQ Tour Fusion. This ball is versatility with no bounds!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
After throwing the IQ Tour Solid, I was super pumped to get my hands on the IQ Tour Pearl! I was expecting amazing predictability and control just like the IQ Tour Solid, but with more length.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Storm did not disappoint! This ball is the perfect compliment to the Solid version. Actually, the IQ Tour Pearl may be one of the easiest to read reactions I've ever seen. It's got good length but it's not like some pearl equipment where it just looks like the ball is skidding and you're not sure if it will ever hook. With this ball you can tell that the ball is reading the lane the whole time, waiting to start hooking in the mid lane and make a very strong finish on the backend. This is such a smooth and predictable backend motion, it makes moving inside so easy.

If you're looking to start an arsenal, there are no better building blocks than the Storm IQ Tour Pearl and Solid!

P.S. The ball looks AWESOME going down the lane!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Lots of Storm fans (myself included) have been begging for a revival of RAD core technology that was featured in the X Factor and Paradigm lines, to name a few. Needless to say I was itching to get this punched up and throw it.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Lock took core technology that was extremely popular in the early/mid 90's and modified it slightly for today's conditions. They wrapped a brand new, modern coverstock around it (which is amazing, by the way). What they've created is one of the most familiar but also groundbreaking reactions I've seen. The Lock is a ball that reacts in all the right places. You can feel the ball reading all parts of the lane to find the perfect breakpoint.

The Lock is a ball that will be extremely versatile (especially with surface changes). It can certainly handle the heaviest of oil but I can also see it being a monster on longer patterns with a little bit less volume. The ball has good length even for such a strong ball so it doesn't burn up like many oilers do.

The real winner is the motion on the backend though. The lock makes an angular move on the backend and absolutely does... not.... stop once it starts to hook. The way this ball goes through the pins is like no other. I mean it when I say that I felt like I would strike every time I hit the pocket. The carry is amazing. I've yet to leave a 10 pin with the Lock.

The Lock proves that older technology doesn't mean worse technology. In fact, I feel like bringing back RAD technology with the RAD X core is exactly the technology we need for today's lanes. I'll be punching at least 2 more of these once they're released... it's that good.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I love Storm pearl bowling balls. They always seem to work great for me. I was expecting more length then my Vivid with a much stronger backend reaction. I expected a ball that I could switch to once the Vivid starts to hook too early.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Wow, honestly this might be one of the most versatile bowling balls I've ever thrown. With the out of box finish, this ball had good length and provided a strong, even rolling reaction. This is exactly the type of reaction I want from the first ball out of my bag. I was able to play several different parts of the lane and the ball reacted well in each instance. I was able to swing the ball out and it would recover and if I kept it inside, it held through the oil. This is one of those bowling balls I like to call a "house shot killer".

The other reason this ball is so versatile is because, if you add polish to the coverstock, you've got a totally different ball! Add polish and you'll add length and the Lucid will have a strong, sharp backend reaction. I will most definitely have 2 Lucids in my bag, one matte finish and one polished. This ball is a 1-2 punch all by itself!!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Centripetal core gives the Marvel-S more length than the NANO or Vivid and this allows the ball to store energy and really HOOK on the back part of the lane! The Marvel-S is very easy to read and predictable. This ball will be a great compliment to the IQ Tour Pearl and Lucid.

As a huge fan of the Optimus, I was super excited for this ball. I was curious how it would fit in with the IQ Tour Nano. The Optimus Solid, with it's stronger core, I was expecting more hook.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Just like the Optimus was stronger and more angular than the IQ Tour Pearl, the Optimus Solid is stronger and more angular than the IQ Tour Nano. In fact, I think that the Optimus, Optimus Solid and IQ Nano go together perfectly. You can start with the Optimus Solid which is very strong and starts earlier than the Nano. Once that starts to hook too early, switch to the Nano which is extremely smooth and then go to the Optimus when you need more length and need to move inside.

Storm just doesn't miss with its Master line balls and the Optimus Solid is no exception. Bowl up a Storm!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a fan of the Phaze. I really liked the ball motion, but it was a bit over/under for me. It was also a bit too snappy for me on certain patterns. I love dull solids, so I was happy to try the Velocity core with this kind of coverstock.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Phaze II is one of those balls where you throw it the first time and instantly know you love it. The strength, predictability and versatility of this ball is through the roof.

Make no mistake, this ball HOOKS. I mean, most people will be able to use this ball on the heaviest of oil, especially with a bit more surface.

One of my favorite things about the Phaze II was that even though it's really strong, it still got down the lane well. Even on our THS pattern I could stand left, get the ball to the dry and it would get back to the pocket from anywhere.

The Phaze II is a bowling ball that you could have 2 or 3 of. One at OOB finish, one at 4000 polished and one at 1000 grit sanded. You will cover pretty much every condition that is medium oil and above. This is one of the best Storm balls I've ever thrown and that's saying a lot (some of my all-time faves are Storm).

What I Was Looking For In This Ball & Layout:
As a two hander, urethane can be my best friend. The coverstock doesn't respond to friction as quickly and it can allow me to really hit the ball. With the Pitch Black I was hoping to be able to get farther right than I normally am allowed to play. Anytime I can cover less boards is a good thing. I used my favorite all-around layout hoping to give me the length and predictability I long for.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

There is no doubt that this will be one of my most used balls in my arsenal. I absolutely fell in love with this ball! The Pitch Black allowed me to move right and still stay firm. The sanded finish gave the ball such a smooth reaction and really faced up to the pocket nicely on our test pattern.

The biggest thing I noticed about the Pitch Black was how well it carried. The Capacitor Core is absolutely perfect for this ball as it provides a low amount of flare but it still had a nice pop on the backend. Most urethane balls can be tough to carry with because they make such a gradual move into the pocket. This ball allowed me to still create the proper angle into the pocket to make the pins fly all over the deck! If you're a high rev or low ball speed player, the Pitch Black will be a revelation to your game! I wish I could give it 6 stars!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I was a fan of the Pitch Black but there were times when the ball just hooked too early, especially on dry (when I want to use it the most). I was hoping that adding pearl to the coverstock would give extra pop on the backend.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Pitch Blue is exactly what I was hoping for. Honestly, I've never thrown a ball that is so easy to hit the pocket with. The Pitch Blue has better length than the Pitch Black but still reads the midlane really well and has a VERY controllable, hard roll to the pocket.

I love that I can hit this ball as much as I want and I know it won't overreact. When you have confidence in your ball reaction, it makes scoring so much easier because you aren't tentative. So far I've thrown 2 games with this ball and I've shot 280 and 270. Only 3 frames were non-strikes in 2 games. Obviously, I don't expect to keep up this pace, but I'm hooked!

High rev players, seriously, hit the Add to Cart button right now. This will be your favorite all-around ball, I have no doubt. Rev dominant and slow speed players as well.

Now THIS is the urethane ball we need for today's conditions!

This review is on the Storm Reign of Fire!

The Storm Thunder Line has been the most successful bowling ball line in recent history, and the legacy is being continued by first the Reign and now the Reign of Fire. I was lucky enough to throw one of these fireballs before they are released to the public, and I cannot wait until all of you get to throw this ball! The Reign of Fire is very similar to my favorite Storm ball of all-time, the T-Road Solid. The T-Road Solid was the 2007 Ball of the Year, and the ROF could very well earn that same title for 2010! This ball is even stronger than the TRS, thanks in part to the new C.A.M. Core, but with a very similar reaction shape. Don't be fooled by the price of this ball, you are getting High Performance ball reaction at a mid-performance price. This ball will hook with the best of them on heavy oil, and with polish will get down the lane and make an even stronger move on the backend. This is a must have for every bowler! Thanks again Storm for another GREAT product! As always, Bowl Up a Storm!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I absolutely loved the Reign series from Storm and I was super excited to see the return of the C.A.M. core. The Thunder line is the greatest line in the history of bowling (in my opinion) and I was expecting the Reign of Power to continue that trend.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I'll never forget the feeling that I had when I first threw the Storm T-Road Solid, one of my 3 favorite bowling balls of all-time. I couldn't believe that a ball with a 1000 Grit sanded coverstock could get down the lane that effortlessly and make such a strong, easy to read reaction. This is the EXACT same feeling I got when I threw the Reign of Power!

Needless to say, I was excited! On our test pattern, striking was as easy as it ever has been for me. This ball does not stop once it starts hooking! With the addition of the PFT coverstock from the IQ, this ball is extremely strong. The ROP may be priced like a mid-performance ball, but I assure you there is nothing but high-performance.. performance! This is my front runner for ball of the year for 2013 and I have a feeling it will be at the top at the end of 2013 as well!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Storm Thunder line is consistently my favorite line in bowling and has been for many years. The Reign of Power was my favorite ball of the past year, so needless to say I was excited for a hybrid version. I was expecting the Reign On to have a bit more length with a bit more angle on the backend.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Reign On certainly did not disappoint! The proven C.A.M. core is the engine that controls this ball and matched with the R2S Hybrid coverstock, it runs like a well oiled machine. This ball has good length and a strong backend reaction. What makes the Thunder line so great though is the ability of the ball to read the midlane. Also, how easy it is for the bowler to see the transition between skid, hook and roll. This makes the ball very versatile and makes adjustments super easy.

The Reign On is another heir to the throne of the Thunder Line's long time dominance!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Rocket is one of my favorite balls of the last few years so a pearl version was extremely welcome in my bag. The Thunder line is my favorite line in bowling!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Sky Rocket is the perfect complement to the Rocket. More length and a stronger backend reaction. What I love about this ball is how you can see it revving up in the midlane, which is very unique for a pearl. It reminds me so much of a few older Storm balls that I absolutely loved, the Tour Power and especially the Fired Up.

With the Sky Rocket and the Rocket any bowler is off to a great start when it comes to an arsenal. I'm already in love with the Sky Rocket and I think this could easily be the ball of the year.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I absolutely loved the Lock and was excited to see the RAD-X core with a pearl coverstock surrounding it. I used a slightly stronger, more energy retaining layout on the Snap Lock, hoping to see some serious backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Storm never ceases to amaze when it comes to pairing bowling balls within a line. The Snap Lock is the perfect 1-2 punch with the Lock. Oh, and it is one of the coolest looking balls rolling down the lane I've ever thrown!

The Snap Lock gets down the lane easier than the Lock and once it flips, it doesn't stop. What I love about it is that you don't get any over/under at all with this ball due to how smoothly it rolls. This ball is STRONG on the backend but it's also controllable. When you can pair both of those things, you've got a great all-around ball.

This thing hit like a Mack truck when it connected with the pins. I don't think I left one corner pin with this ball. It just seems to create the correct angle in to the pocket.

If you've got a Lock and you need a ball to a bit longer or step down to when the Lock starts hooking to much, there's no other choice. The Snap Lock is the way to go!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Fight was great as a very controllable ball for medium conditions. At times it would lack a bit of punch and I would have carry issues. That's where I'm expecting the Street Fight to be a better option.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

There was a ton of hype around the Iron Cross core when the Fight was released. I loved the Fight, but I didn't really notice the core much. However, one shot with the Street Fight and it was like the heavens opened and the light shined down on me. The strong, controllably angular backend motion from the Street Fight is perfect for my game. The way this ball continues through the pins is really a sight to behold.

I really like the new 3000 Grit Sheen finish that Storm has been using lately. It allows the ball to get down the lane but is still controllable on the backend. The Street Fight is the perfect complement to the Fight. In my opinion, it's the best pearl in the Thunder line since the Hy-Road Pearl. Get inside, throw it outside and watch it scream back!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

From what I had been hearing, this ball is supposed to be the closest to the original Virtual Gravity that Storm has released since that ball was in their current line. Needless to say, this ball has some pretty ginormous shoes to fill!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Sync certainly is reminiscent of the original VG with the ability to clear the heads, start making its move in the mid lane and a super heavy roll on the backend. This is a unique reaction shape that made the Virtual Gravity so special. The Sync is the only other ball that I've ever thrown with this sort of reaction.

Those of you who loved the VG will absolutely LOVE the Sync! This ball is going to make some waves on heavy oil conditions. You won't be disappointed with the Sync!

If you're looking for a little more control and grip during your swing, the Storm Xtra Grip Glove is just what the doctor ordered! The palm and fingers of the glove have a tacky surface so you've got complete control of your swing and release. Also, your hand will be protected from many of those annoying calluses that form from many games of bowling. The Storm Xtra Grip Glove is great, so pick one up today!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

When you see the name Gravity, you instantly think of one word... HOOK! However, with the modified version of the Shape-Lock core, I was expecting less hook than you'd see from a NANO or original Virtual Gravity.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Boy was I wrong about this ball... this ball REALLY HOOKS! What the new Shape-Lock LD does do which separates the Zero Gravity from past releases is smooths out the breakpoint. This ball is unbelievably controllable and easy to read. The Zero Gravity will be amazing on long patterns with fresh backends as it will really even out the pattern and smooth out the transition from wet to dry.

Storm never ceases to amaze with their Premier line of bowling balls. The Gravity will fall right in line with the other bowling balls that shared its name!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Cyborg uses a brand new core which has a med-high flare potential. It's paired with the QR-7 hybrid coverstock which is similar to what's on the Paradox line (which is a great thing).

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Cyborg has one of the most unique rolls and reactions I've ever seen. It's almost like this ball was reading the lane the second it left my hand, but it didn't hook early or lose any energy. I just felt like I knew exactly what this ball was going to do. There was an amazingly smooth transition from the skid phaze to the hook phaze and a strong and controllable transition to the roll phase.

I loved the Cyborg for the fact that I could play anywhere on the lane and strike. I could stay outside, keep my speed firm and my hand up the back and the ball would hold the line and make the perfect angle in to the pocket. I could move way left, crank it up and the ball would make the turn with plenty of angle to carry.

You really have to throw the Cyborg to get a sense of how it rolls. It may be my favorite Track ball in years. Every bowler can find a use for the Cyborg in their bag.

If you're having trouble with your ball hooking too early, or you just want the ball to get down the lane and save its energy, this stuff is great! It is very easy to put on by hand and really puts a nice gloss on the ball! Make sure you clean the ball before using to get the best reaction!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Track named this ball after all of their loyal follwers so I was certainly expecting this ball to be good and extremely versatile.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Legion is a really great all-around ball. It's in the middle as far as overall hook is concerned and really reads all parts of the lane really well. Once this ball hits the midlane, it has a very heavy and smooth roll.

The Legion is going to be an absolute favorite for bowlers who like to play down and in. It has the perfect roll to be able to carry with that line. Also, short patterns are the Legion's friend. I expect we will be seeing this ball on TV, I know Mika is going to love it.

Track made the perfect ball to name after their fans, go get a Legion!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I loved the first Legion Hybrid, so I was looking forward to throwing this ball. I used my favorite layout which is very smooth on it's own. With the matte finished solid, this ball should be strong and smooth.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

As I expected, the Track Legion Solid is smoooooth. So easy to read and has an amazing read in the midlane. Unlike many sanded, solid balls, the Legion Solid still finishes extremely strong on the backend. This is a ball that can be used on a wide variety of lane conditions including house patterns, long oil patterns and difficult sport conditions.

The Legion Solid is the perfect complement to the Legion Hybrid. You'll want to start with the Solid and then go to the Hybrid once the Solid starts to hook a bit too early or you need to move inside and turn the corner.

Track is making some amazing bowling balls right now!

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

It had been a while since I've thrown a Track ball but I loved the core numbers. Expecting a strong ball due to the look of the coverstock. I was expecting a true heavy oil ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I have to say that the Paradox is truly one of the greatest surprises I've gotten from throwing a bowling ball. This is one of the most versatile bowling balls I've ever thrown and has to be one of the top contenders for ball of the year. I knew that after about 2 shots.

I was wrong about my prediction in the fact that this is not a true heavy oil ball. It can certainly handle heavy oil, but it does not roll super early in the heads. This ball gets down the lane really well for a dull ball. I love the fact that you can see the ball read all parts of the lane, looking for the best place to start the hook phase.

When the ball decides to make its move, it is remarkable. The ball has an angularity to it, but one that is easy to read. There's no over/under going on here. This angularity allows you to move it and still create enough angle, even with the dull surface. The Paradox is the perfect long oil bowling ball.

I was striking from all parts of the lane, that's how good this ball is. The Paradox is easily the best Track ball I've thrown since the Triton Elite and Triton Heat. It may just be the best one I've ever thrown.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The original Paradox was the 2015 Ball of the Year, in my opinion. It was a great all-around ball that could cover a wide range of lane conditions. Put a pearl coverstock around the awesome i-Core 2.0 and I was expecting more length and more backend with maybe a little less overall hook.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

When you throw the Paradox Pearl, you're instantly reminded of the original with how well it reads the midlane. With its pearl coverstock, the Pearl does go longer than the original, which is great for when the original hooks up just a little too early.

What I wasn't expecting was how strong this ball was. On our testing pattern, this ball was actually STRONGER than the original due to how well it stored energy for the backend. With the finish Track chose, the ball is very easy to control as well. You can see the ball reading all parts of the lane. It makes you feel comfortable about the reaction and confident that the ball will react the way you're expecting.

In a separate test, I took the surface to 2000 grit and added Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish over top. The ball became a totally different animal. Even more length and a wicked, angular backend reaction that will get the ball back from anywhere!

I'm a huge fan of the Paradox Pearl and I'm so impressed with Track's newest releases. Don't hesitate to pick one of these up if you're looking for a strong bowling ball with a lot of hook on the backend!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Track didn't fail me at all! The Paradox Trilogy is exactly what this line needed. More length and more snap. This will be the ball you go to when the Paradox or Paradox Pearl are hooking too early or when you need to create more angle into the pocket.

What I really love is that while the ball is angular on the backend, it's easy to read. No over/under whatsoever during my testing. This allows you to be confident when throwing shots and when adjusting. I give the credit for this to the amazing I-Core 2.0 which has powered all of the Paradox balls.

If you loved the original or the pearl, you're definitely going to love the Paradox Trilogy!

This review is on the Turbo 2-N-1 Grips Handy Blade!

This is a tool that all bowlers should have in their bag! I use this tool to cut protecting tape for my thumb and to remove tape from the thumb hole. Also if you need to remove a pair of grips quickly this is the tool!

This review is on the Turbo 2-N-1 Grips Skin Protection and Fitting Tape Beige - 30 Pc. Individual Piece Pack!

Protecting tape is all the rage right now and for good reason. It really helps to avoid blisters and skin irritation and tears while bowling. These are great because they are pre cut so you will have the perfect feel each and every time!

The Turbo 2-N-1 Grips Slim Triple Tote is a great bag for the bowler that's always on the go, or doesn't want to lug around a super heavy bag! This bag is very durable and has quite a few really cool features. The 3 balls fit securely into separate padded compartments, and won't jiggle around on you. This feature, plus the fact that when loaded with 3 15 pound balls weigh in under 50 pounds, make it perfect to bring on a plane. This bag looks great with it's striking red color and Turbo 2-n-1 Grips Logo! So if you're tired of loading your heavy 3 ball bag, or you're heading out to Nationals, the Turbo 2-N-1 Grips Slim Triple Tote is the bag for you!

This review is on the Vertex Mold Ball Spinner!

Are you really serious about your bowling? Ready to take your game to the next level? With bowling ball technology progressing having the correct surface on each of your bowling balls is paramount. Making surface adjustments are as big a part of the game as different drilling layouts are. Different grits paired with or without polish can make balls come to life and give you different looks on lane conditions you've struggled with previously. Having your own ball spinner will make it more convenient and easier to make those adjustments on your balls. The Vertex Spinner is no joke and can tackle any job you will have for it!

This review is on Barbie Viz-A-Ball!

This is the perfect ball for any little girl or grown up little girl who loves Barbie! The bright pink ball really shows up going down the lanes, and you can't miss Barbie's picture on the side! My little cousin LOVES Barbie, and she's just starting to love bowling as well, so I already picked up one of these for her for Christmas!
