Intended Use:
I drilled up two Brutes with different purposes. The first Brute, I used a Rico layout with OOB surface. The Rico layout is pin-in-palm, CG/Hole 45 degrees, hole 6 ¾” from pin. The purpose of this layout is to help the ball get started earlier and blend out over/under for high speed and/or low-rev players. The purpose of this layout was for a typical house pattern. I wanted to stick with the shiny OOB surface for maximum entry angle. The Rico layout helps the ball get started just a little bit earlier so I don’t have the super over/under a house pattern can create for high-rev guys.

The second Brute, I used a layout for early hook and control. The purpose for this Brute is for tougher, medium/short, flatter conditions. This layout should get the ball into an early, controllable motion without seeing any overhook off the dry part of the lane. This should allow me to play straighter on flatter patterns, knowing the ball won’t go sideways off the back of the pattern and hook too much.

Reaction:
The first Brute is exactly as intended. Even with a Rico layout to get the ball started sooner, this is the most backend I have seen out of a Brunswick ball in quite a while. This is absolutely perfect for a typical house pattern. I am able to stand wherever I want on the lane and adjust only speed and let the ball do the rest. For a mid-price ball, this thing hooks! The hybrid cover is clean through the heads all the way through game 3 of a 5-man league where other balls in my bag start to read that friction early. The Rico layout gets it started in the mids and then this ball makes a left turn as soon as it has cleared the pattern.

The second Brute is my go-to ball on any medium length, challenging lane condition. This ball does exactly what I wanted it to. The hybrid cover with the layout/surface combination creates early, controllable shape to help conquer tougher lane conditions. Because of the layout, I can stay in the friction longer with this ball because it doesn’t overhook. The biggest advantage this ball gives me is on my misses. My misses tend to get 9 way more often because of the controllable characteristics of the ball, rather than leaving splits with something that creates more motion downlane.

Overall:
This is easily one of my favorite balls released by Brunswick. The cover is VERY versatile; it takes to surface adjustments extremely well. The OOB Brute has given me the most back-end of any piece in my bag, while the 2000 siaair Brute gives me an excellent controllable shape for tougher conditions. ANYONE can fit a Brute into their arsenal somewhere, depending on what you are looking to achieve out of the ball.

Personal Stats:
400-450 RPM
18-20 MPH
PAP – 5 5/8” over, 1” up
Axis Tilt – Estimated 8-12 Degrees
http://youtu.be/XywVojKDWR4#t=1h12m50s (example)
Current League Average: 237
Sanctioned Sport Average: 210

Intended Use:
I drilled up the Melee Jab looking to fill a big hole in my bag. In my current 6-ball arsenal, prior to drilling the Jab, I had no pearls. Even when expanding to 9 balls, I didn’t fit a pearl in the bag. Only when travelling with 12 balls did I find use for a pearl. In other words – I don’t have any pearls I like! That CHANGED with the Jab. I was looking for a ball that is clean up front, but with my speed still tractions downlane on deep, inside angles. This is a motion I was lacking for later in blocks on medium/long patterns when I am very far left on the lane. Normally, I would use something like an LT-48 or a Mastermind Genius when trying to play this deep, but neither ball was “the answer”. I now have that answer!

Reaction:
Where the LT-48’s solid cover lacked the punch downlane to get corners out, the Mastermind Genius’s Asymmetric Core was too over/under off the friction on a burned up condition. This Melee Jab has solved ALL of those problems. It easily clears the choppy heads with its Pearl cover, retains the energy and releases it downlane, off the back of the pattern, to create excellent entry angles from deep inside where I prefer to use it. What has impressed me most about this ball however, is how versatile it has been on softer house conditions. Since drilling it, I have used it almost exclusively in league for 4 sets ranging between 720-750. On softer conditions, I prefer to use weaker solids/hybrids with surface to play closer to the friction and maximize carry. With the Jab, I can play the same part of the lane with success. The clean cover allows the ball to glide through the dry track area on a house pattern and create excellent entry angle. The cover is also strong enough that misses in the “puddle” on a house pattern don’t hydroplane. This has created more room on a house pattern than I have seen in a while!

Overall:
This ball is a winner. Not only has it filled a hole in my bag exceptionally, it has become my go-to ball on house conditions as well. It has worked exceptionally well for me as a high-rev/high-speed player, but the pearl cover will also be perfect for lower speed/rev dominant players as well.

Axis Tilt - Estimated 8-12 Degrees
Current League Average: 243

Intended Use:
I used the 70 x 5 x 35 layout to provide some length, knowing how strong this cover was supposed to be. I planned on this ball taking over for my pin-up Guru with a similar layout in my bag.

Reaction:
Hook. A lot of it. So far, this ball hooks so much that I don't have much I can throw it on. It's too strong for most of the house patterns I see, but I have gotten a chance to bowl three weeks on the 47 foot Scorpion pattern with it. This is the only ball I get motion on the fresh pattern with, confirming it's overall strength.

Overall:
If you are looking for that top-end piece in your bag, the Nirvana easily fills it. Those guys that have higher speeds or lower rev rates will appreciate the Nirvana's ability to open up angles and allow you to to left to right.

Intended Use:
With the my go-to pin-up layout, I was looking for a motion that was complimentary to my original Nirvana. Strong asymmetric with a sharper motion from the layout.

Reaction:
Nailed the reaction I was looking for. The strong cover revs up well in the midlanes, but doesn't overhook too early, thanks to the layout. Gives me a nice medium-strong motion that has been great on both house patterns and flatter patterns when I want to be steeper though the front of the lane.

Overall:
I have used this ball a lot more than I thought I would. I normally can't use stronger asymettrics on house patterns because they burn up too much energy early, but the layout on this Ultimate Nirvana makes it a BEAST! This is definitely a ball that fits both the typical house bowler and the weekend warrior looking for a strong-medium ball to fill a hole in their arsenal.

Using my go-to pin-up layout, I was looking to fill a hole in my bag - I currently don't have any symmetric pearls. Looking for something that would be good late in blocks where I need to get through chopped up heads, and have a sharper motion in the back.

Reaction:
Again, this layout has been perfect for me. This ball is very clean up front and skids effortlessly through friction in the front part of the lane. Then it unleashes it's energy in the back. Not overly angular, but strong and continuous once it gets to the back of the lane.

Overall:
I threw one game of practice OOB with this ball and absolutely hated it. It seemed bery over/under on a fresh house pattern. Pulled it out in league that night at the end of game 1 and threw a 15 bagger for 300. I don't think I've put it down since. I've used it on short, long, tight, hooking, everything.

Intended Use:
I initially hesitated to drill up the DV8 Vandal, because I have never had much success with Asymmetric Pearl balls. After hearing many many good things, I decided to go ahead and drill one. I used 70 x 5 x 35 as a standard strong/flippy layout for me.

Reaction:
Just WOW. I haven't been this impressed by a ball in quite a long time. I cannot put it down. The cover LIKES oil, so it's not like other pearls for me where I tend to throw them through the breakpoint easily. This ball is STRONG off the spot and is a motion I didn't have anything close to in the bag.

Overall:
This ball is just unreal. I've now had a chance to bowl three league nights with it. I am averaging dead on 250 and I HAVEN'T MOVED ME FEET YET. This ball is strong enough that it allows me to start left of most people and the cover is still clean enough that it just doesn't see the transition as quick as other balls do. Long and strong, this ball does NOT go wrong!

The Hammer No Mercy bowling ball is definitely a quality piece of work. It hooks in the back-end and has a high level of forgiveness. The ball has lost most of its snap after about a 1000 games, but it still hooks well.

I had a chance to throw a friends Raw Hammer Anger, and man does this thing have a back-end. It out hooks my No Mercy, Fury, and NV. I think I found a new heavy oil ball.
I threw it on a medium oil house shot, where I play 20-2 with more speed then I usually throw, and I had to play 30 - 2 to get it out late enough. I have never thrown a ball that snaps like that.
If you blink, you'll miss it!

My buddy purchased this ball and had it drilled up yesterday, so he subbed for us in league. He was throwing his No Mercy Beat'n for the first half the the first game, until the Nsane was finished being drilled. He threw 6 of 7 strikes to finish the first game with the Nsane. He then threw a 279 the third game to finish out a nice set.
This ball grabs the lane like a beast, and carries like a mack truck plowing through Popsicle sticks!

Intended Use:
I put my go to pin-down layout on this ball looking for a nice benchmark motion. With its hybrid coverstock, the Forza GT is a little later than the original Forza, and a little later than the Forza Redline.

Reaction:
I got exactly what I was looking for out of the Forza GT. This ball is one of the first out of the bag on medium-oily lane conditions. The hybrid coverstock retains enough energy to pop off the back of the pattern, but the ball is strong enough not to hydroplane in oil.

Overall:
The Forza GT provides an excellent look at the lanes as first out of the bag. If I need something stronger, I can use a Trident. Smoother, a Revolt Havoc. Weaker, drop down to a Venom Shock. Very predictable motion that has been great on those medium length patterns.

Reaction:
Even with a 2" pin, this ball is clean with a nice back-end motion on those short/low volume patterns. I hit the surface with 2000 to help smooth the shape out to something closer to what I was looking for.

Overall:
Once I tamed the surface down, this ball fell exactly where I needed it. The shorter pin and weaker cover allow me to play right longer in the friction. I recently used it for half a block on PBA Cheetah, being the only reactive ball that didn't overhook. High rev and low speed players will appreciate the length the Freestyle brings to the table!

For the Freestyle Rush, I used a short pin layout to control the downlane motion. My goal was to get urethane-like shape, with a reactive cover.

Reaction:
With the short-pin layout and 500 abralon surface, I achieved my goal. The Freestyle Rush sees the front part of the lane quickly and lays off down lane. This gives me a reactive option where urethane isn't quite enough. It's a step up from the Tank Rampage and below the other reactive balls in my bag.

Overall:
I filled a hole with the Freestyle Rush that I was aiming to fill. This ball fit a perfect niche in between urethane and the lowest reactive I previously had in my bag (Graffiti Tag). This ball will get a lot of play on shorter and flatter patterns where control is the name of the game.

I drilled the Octane Carbon with my go-to pin-up layout and hit it with 3000 abralon. My goal for this piece was to give me a logical step down from the United Revolt and step up from the Venom Cobra. I was looking for angular motion for medium to med-heavy patterns.

Reaction:
The Octane Carbon at 3000 abralon gives me angular motion, without being allergic to oil. Not the quickest response motion in the line, but still provides plenty of punch in the back of the lane on medium patterns. Logical step down from the Octane Carbon or possibly from a strong drilling Venom Shock.

Overall:
The Octane Carbon fits perfectly in the niche I aimed for. When the Venom Cobra just isn't strong enough, but the United Revolt is just too much, this piece fits perfectly in the middle while providing the entry angle required to string strikes.

Intended Use:
I used a stronger pin position on the Tag Cannon to get the low-end core to start up a little earlier. My goal for the Tag Cannon was to have a ball that I can shape downlane later in blocks when there is friction and significant lane traffic.

Reaction:
The Tag Cannon is nice and quick off the spot when there is friction to throw it to. This fills a spot in the bag where I had previously used balls that were a little earlier in motion, sacrificing pin carry. Now, with the Cannon, I can open up the angles late in blocks and see the shape I need to get corners out downlane.

Overall:
The Tag Cannon hooks a good bit more than the original Graffiti Tag. It fits in between the Graffiti Tag and the Octane Carbon for me. Where the Carbon is a little slower in the midlane, the Tag Cannon is quick and allows me to maximize entry angle when I'm confident that I have friction to throw it to downlane.

Urethane! My goal with the Tank Rampage was to add that distinctly urethane shape to my arsenal for shorter and lighter volume patterns.

Reaction:
The Tank Rampage hooks as much, if not more, than any TRUE Urethane I've ever thrown. Unlike other attempts to merge reactive and urethane, the Tank Rampage still retains that distint early motion. Great for shutting down the angles and using that hook in the front part of the lane.

Overall:
Perfect fit. If you've thrown the Rebel Tank, expect 3-5 more board of hook than you are used to out of Urethane. Bowlers have already gotten the opportunity to see this piece in action on a number of PBA telecasts and I know I will be using it every opportunity I get on shorter patterns!

I got a chance to throw the Trident at a trade show prior to drilling. What I saw was a LOT of hook. I went with my standard pin-up layout looking for a strong motion with a continuous shape.

Reaction:
This ball is a monster! I picked this up at the trade show and moved 5/3 off the Forza GT. Ten back. Moved 5/3 more. Ten back. Moved again. Ten back. Moved again. Ten back. I literally ran out of room on the lane before the ball ran out of hook.

Overall:
I've gotten a chance to throw this ball on three patterns now in the first two weeks I've owned it and it's very impressive. With the OOB 3000 grit surface, it provides the perfect blend of seeing the midlane and retaining energy for the back of the lane. It's a very strong, smooth solid asymmetric that will shine on higher volumes and longer lengths.

I wasn't sure what to expect out of my United Revolt. The other Revolts I drilled were all notorious for strong controllable motion. A pearl cover on this ball led me to putting a pin-over-the-fingers layout on it, looking for a strong, but angular motion on heavier volume/longer patterns.

Reaction:
With the pin-up layout, the United Revolt nailed what I was looking for. In terms of pure boards covered, this piece is near the top of my bag on longer patterns. The United Revolt allows me to play more left to right than balls like the Jackal Ghost or Primal Rage Remix.

Overall:
If I need angle on a longer pattern, this is my go-to. The United Revolt brings a unique motion to the med-heavy oil category in the Motiv line. I have used this ball on everything from 35ft to 47ft and it doesn't disappoint, always delivering entry angle to strike.

Intended Use:
I drilled up a Radical Guru to compliment my Brunswick Mastermind and Mastermind Intellect on longer patterns. The original Mastermind provides ample hook for anything I see, but is often too early for optimal carry once a pattern starts to break down. The Mastermind Intellect compliments the original Mastermind well, but goes a little too long in the oil to make the switch when I would like to. I was looking for a ball that would fit in between the two.

Reaction:
Wow. Just WOW. This ball hooks. Not only does it hook, it hooks in all the right places. Where the Mastermind hooks up front and in the middle of the lane, the Guru hooks just as much, all in the back 1/3 of the lane. I have never had a big-hooking Asymmetric solid that retained energy and went through the pins like this ball does. I am able to play ANYWHERE on the lane with this ball. On 43’ Chameleon, I can play out on the gutter and watch this thing just make a left turn at 43’ and demolish pins. OR, I can play 30 with a softer speed and watch this thing recover from anywhere I throw it and NOT burn up before it hits the pins. It really is an incredible ball reaction I haven’t had before.

Overall:
If you need hook, here it is. Hook in a box, just add holes! I went with a longer/flippier layout on this ball, so I can only imagine what it would do with a stronger layout. Anyone looking for that new “wow” ball, it’s sitting right here with a Radical logo on it!
