The 900 Global Reality was very popular throughout the different levels of bowling and I believe the all new Altered Reality will follow in its footsteps. The Altered Reality has the same Disturbance Asymmetric core as the Reality but features the S84 Response Pearl cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2, and after throwing this ball for a little while I was quite impressed on the motion it gave me. It was a lot cleaner than the original Reality because of the pearl cover but you can really see this ball pick up in the midlane. I was able to throw this ball on the fresh on Gateway Arch oil pattern but I had to make sure I projected the ball towards the gutter to make sure it didn’t overreact and go high. I can see myself using this ball after the bigger asymmetrical solid balls in my bag and some of the stronger solid symmetrical balls towards the middle to late of blocks on longer pattern and maybe the fresh on other patterns if the lane
surface has a little built up friction in the front part of the lane.

The Burner Solid is the newest 600 Series ball from 900 Global. It has the solid version of the S62 cover, which is wrapped around the all new Centroid core. It has an RG of 2.53 and differential of 0.0037. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and this low-end ball really impresses me and for a lower end ball it packs a serious punch. Its about 4-2 stronger overall hook than my Hustle PBR and I love that ball this past year. Could never get it in my hand fast enough and with Burner Solid, I feel like I will be able to do the same thing just earlier and more often because of the motion it makes. If you are looking for a ball that is just a little more hook than the Hustle’s, I would defiantly try these Burner series ball !

900 Global’s newest 900 Series ball is a slight revamp of the Altered Reality. The Eternity has the same S84R Pearl cover and two of the three colors of the Altered. The new Epoch Asymmetric core yields an RG of 2.49, differential of 0.050 and PSA of 0.014. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and when I first started throwing this ball I knew it was going to be even more popular than the Altered Reality. I feel like the Eternity his a hair cleaner and doesn’t rev up as quick as the Altered did. It also continues way more on the backend than Altered did. I can see myself using the Eternity right out on the fresh or it could be the first bigger pearl ball out of my bag once the lanes starting to transition. This ball will be going with me to almost every tournament in my up coming future and this will be the most popular pearl ball on the market today!

900 Global has been a huge hit since they were acquired by Storm and the new Eternity Pi is going to be another huge hit. The Epoch asymmetrical core is wrapped around the brand new 901 Blend solid overstock. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and my first impression of this ball is that it really reminds me of the Reality from a couple years ago. I do feel like it is a hair cleaner than the Reality due to the differences in the cores, I first noticed that between the Altered Reality and Eternity. I feel like I can use this ball as a 1 or 2 ball out of my bag because of the versatilely of the cover and core. Its clean for a solid but doesn’t go sideways on the backend. It truly blends the friction out and still has enough cover and teeth to deep with the heaviest of oil patterns.

900 Globals newest 900 series ball is a TANK. The Harsh Reality features the AI Core tech which brings the Disturbance Core to an RG at 2.48, Diff 0.054 and PSA of 0.019 and the 902 Solid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and my first impressions of throwing this ball is that it is a lot earlier and smoother than the original Reality. This ball needs oil and really wants to tumble down lane. If you are looking for a new asymmetrical solid ball for tournaments or Nationals, this is going to be your ball.

The Harsh Reality Pearl is the next release in the 900 Series lineup for 900 Global. It features the 902 Reserve Blend Pearl cover and is wrapped around the AI Disturbance Core. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 2 and this is another slightly tweaked layout for me. Ive thrown this ball a few times and it gives me a more blended motion than I thought it was going to be. It reminds me of the ultra popular Storm DNA Coil with how it’s smooth for a pearl cover stock. I would say the Harsh Reality Pearl isn’t as revy in the front part of the lane as a Coil would be and gives a little more back end reaction. I can see myself actually taking surface to mine to use it more on the fresh on older lane surfaces because I need it to get through the fronts but its still really smooth on the back.

The Honey Badger line has been a huge success from 900 Global since the Honey Badger was introduced. The Intensity has an RG of 2.54, differential of 0.048 and PSA of 0.012 and is wrapped around the super versatile S70 Solid Cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and this motion has been one that has been missing in my bag. Because of higher RG, it is a little cleaner through the front part of the lane but the solid cover helps the ball in the oil. It is a couple boards stronger than my Hy Road Max and I can see myself using this ball a lot weather it be my first ball out of my bag or one of the last balls out when they are hook. If you want an all around benchmark ball, your going to want this Honey Badger Intensity.

The new 900 Global Origin features the brand new Ellipse AI core and RB93 Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 2 and after throwing this ball for awhile, it will probably be a staple in my bag as the first asymmetrical ball out of my bag once the lanes transition. Its cleaner and more angular than the new Attention Star S2 with more pop down lane. It really allows me to open my angles up and bridges the gap between the other asymmetrical balls in the SPI line up with the symmetrical ones. I think this ball will be very popular on house condition as well because of the motion it makes.

The Origin EX brings a lot of control to the table — it doesn’t jump or overreact, even on fresh oil where many aggressive solid balls tend to burn up or check too early. With the 4 x 4 x ½ layout, you're dialing into a strong, early revving core motion with a smoother backend, and this ball delivers exactly that. One of the most impressive aspects is how clean this ball gets through the front part of the lane, especially for a solid cover. The RB 89 Solid coverstock is tuned just right — it doesn’t dig in and start hooking at your toes, but instead glides through the first 20 feet with ease. That’s a huge plus when you’re bowling on a house shot where the fronts can get fried quickly, especially after a few games. The ball starts reading in the midlane in a very controlled manner. It doesn’t snap or jerk off the spot, which makes it very predictable, a trait that's crucial for both league and tournament play. The motion is round and smooth, helping you stay in the pocket even as you migrate left during transition. The 900 Global Origin EX is a true benchmark asymmetric solid, and with the 4 x 4 x ½ layout, you're getting a great mix of midlane control and backend stability. This ball doesn’t try to do too much, and that’s exactly why it works so well. If you're a league bowler or tournament player looking for a predictable, readable ball that still has teeth to strike, the Origin EX deserves a spot in your bag.

The Reality Check is the newest release in the 900 series from 900 Global. This ball features the same Disturbance asymmetrical core as the first two Reality but has a new hybrid cover in the S84 Beta which is finished with the new Fast 4K. The intent of this cover was to create a similar hook potential of the S84 Response but a very different backend shape. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and after my first practice session with it, I was very impressed about the shape this ball create compared to the others. I always thought the Reality and Altered Reality had a tendency to rev up super quick and burn up quick but when they matched up with the right volume and pattern length these balls were really good and still will be. The Reality Check was a lot cleaner motion and you could tell that this ball got down the lane and still make a great motion to the pocket. I can see myself using this ball on medium length fresh patterns that have some friction to it and some longer patterns latter in blocks when I need to control the friction. This is going to be a very popular ball because of the different motion it makes and will continue to keep the Reality line one of the best asymmetrical lines in bowling today !

The AI core in the Summit was the talk of the town over the summer and new it is introduced in all new 900 Global Sublime. Wrapped around the new 802 hybrid cover and the Immersed Symmetric AI core has numbers of 2.47 and 0.056. I drilled mine 5 x 2 and after throwing it for awhile I was quite impressed that it reminds me of a cleaner Phaze 2 type shape. It doesn’t really overreact in the dry and still has enough for misses in the oil to carry the corners. Strokers will love the way this ball goes through the pins with the AI core technology and crankers will love the versatility of this ball. I can see myself using it on the fresh on higher friction surfaces and in transition once the lanes start to breakdown.

The 900 Global Sublime Focus, featuring the Reserve Blend 804 Solid cover and Immersed™ Symmetric A.I. core, is a fantastic addition to any bowler's arsenal. Drilled 5 x 5 x 3, it starts up a bit earlier than the Optimum Idol but maintains a similar backend reaction to the original Sublime, providing a great balance of control and power. I've found it strikes consistently from various angles, making it my go-to league ball. If you're looking for reliability and performance, the Sublime Focus is a must-have—don’t miss out!

900 Global has surrounded the S70 Pearl cover over the new Lacerate 2.0 core in the Wolverine. The Lacerate 2.0 core comes with an RG of 2.54 and differential of 0.053. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and my first impressions of throwing this ball is that I creates a different shape that hasn’t been see in the 900 Global line in a very long time. This ball creates a lot more shape down lane compared to the Honey Badgers, it actually reminds me more of a Hy Road type motion only stronger. Any medium length patterns later in blocks is where this Wolverine is going to shine the brights because of the core and cover combination. If you need to smoothen out the reaction, don’t be afraid to knock some of the shine off of it. Bowlers looking for a ball for later in blocks or higher friction lane surfaces, the Wolverine will be your ball of choice!

The Wolverine Dark Moss replaces the Wolverine in the 700 Series line from 900 Global. This ball features the same S70 Pearl cover and Lacerate 2.0 core. The only real difference between the Dark Moss and original Wolverine besides the color is the surface finish of these two balls. Dark Moss comes at the new Fast 4K compared to 1500 polished on the original. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 which is similar to the original Wolverine for the first two numbers but I went with a bigger pin buffer to give me something that is longer down lane and response slower to the friction. After throwing this ball for while it does exactly what I wanted it to be in my bag, which was a step down from the original. If you were a fan of the original Wolverine and were sad to see it get banned from USBC National tournaments, the Dark Moss will be the perfect ball to replace it with.

900 Global’s iconic 700 Series line has a another hidden gem in it with the new Xponent. The Xponent has the same Shrapnel 2.0 symmetric core in it that was previously featured in the underrated Ordnance C4. The cover is the all-new Reserve Blend 701cover which is a solid. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and after throwing this ball for awhile, I am confident to say that this ball will stay in my bag for quite sometime. It is a touch stronger than an iQ Tour as a benchmark ball but I feel like since patterns have been seeing an increase amount of volume in them that this ball will complement the iQ Tour when the Tour is just not enough or if your looking for an upgrade from the Tour.

The 700 Series from 900 Global is iconic since the introduction of the Honey Badger. The Xponent Pearl features the 702 pearl cover and I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 and I was quite shocked at the ball motion that it made. It was defiantly clean through the fronts but once it is time to make its motion it is nothing but smooth and continuous. It honestly reminds me more of a solid because of how slow it is in the back. If you are looking for something that is controllable when the lanes are hook, then look no farther than the Xponent Pearl.

900 Global iconic Zen line is back in 2025 with the all new Zen25. It features the brand new RB 83 Pearl cover and the trusted Meditate Core with AI technology added. I drilled mine 5 x 3 and WOW the Zen is back. The Zen25 reminds me of a combination of the original Zen and the Zen Gold Label. It is as strong as the Zen but clean as the Gold Label was. Compared to the Phaze AI, it is cleaner with more of an angular motion down lane as the Phaze is more rounded. If you are looking to open up the lane and watch the something create a ton of angle down lane, then look no farther than the Zen25.

This ball needs no introduction, the Zen Gold Label is the newest Zen ball and personally I think this one is way better than the original Zen. It has the same Meditate core found in all the other Zen’s but has the new Reserve Blend 801 Pearl cover which creates a cleaner, stronger back end reaction than the Zen. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and like I said in my opening sentence, I believe this is the best Zen ball made. I thought the original for me was a little too mid lane revvy at times for a pearl ball but when it matched up for me it was obviously all the hype behind it. The Gold Label is cleaner for me which gets rid of that mid lane shape that I saw in the original but keeps the backend reaction the same. Later into blocks or higher friction patterns is where this ball is going to excel and I believe I will be able to use this as the ball in front of my trusty Fate when the lanes start to hook and I can’t wait to have this 1-2 back end combination in my bag!

Last season the 900 Global Zen took the lanes by storm and quickly became a must have for every bowler. This season bowlers will have another ball they must add to their arsenal, Zen Master. The Zen Master features the same Meditate Core found in the original Zen but has the S77 Response Solid Cover. I was so hyped about this ball that I drilled two of them right off the rip, a pin down 4.5 x 4 x 4 and a pin up 5 x 5 x 3. Starting with the pin down one, this ball provides me a lot of early hook and a smoother motion where as the pin up one lets me open the lane up and is stronger on the backend. I have to say these two balls remind me a lot of the two Roto Grip Idols I had and I loved them, they made a great 1-2 punch on a lot of pattern lengths and volumes. Your not going to want to miss out on this ball, I will always have both these balls with me and I cant wait to use them more and more!

Almost every serious bowler has owned either the Zen or Zen Master and now with the addition of the Zen Soul into the line to bridge the gap between the other Zens. I drilled mine the same way as I drilled my favorite Zen Master, 5 x 5 x 3. After throwing the Soul for awhile I was in total awe of this ball. Now the Zen Master has been my most trusted ball in my bag since I drilled it, I can throw it on the fresh and in transition and now with this 2 part pearl and 1 part solid hybrid the Zen Soul will add even more depth into my arsenal. The Zen Soul is a little cleaner than the Zen Master and offers more backend motion, it is almost a clean as the Zen but it’s backend motions are almost identical to me. I can see myself using the Zen Soul in a wide range of conditions and different times in blocks. This is ball might be a bigger hit than both of the other ones combined !

The Zen U features the new S35+ Urethane Solid cover with a modified version of the Meditate core, Meditate LD. This new cores has an RG of 2.56 and differential of 0.027. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 2 and my first impressions of throwing this ball was WOW. I thought when I first drilled the Rubicon UC3 last year that it was super strong but this ZEN U blows it out of the water. It is easily 5 more than the UC3 and 10 more than my Pitch Black. It shapes kinda like traditional urethane balls at first but it continues through the back of the lane and pins way better than them and doesn’t go too forward. If anyone is looking for a new short pattern ball, sport pattern urethane or just something for the cliffed house shots. The ZEN U is your choice !

Roto Grips HP4 line gets another home run pearl ball, the Attention Star features a new core with Momentous AV + AI Tech and that is wrapped around the proven eTrax + Pearl. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and I’ve seen a few people throw this ball before I threw mine and was really excited about the motion. It is clean yet has a very defined forward motion in the back. This ball is more angular than the Storm Virtual Energy Blackout and doesn’t seem like much an stop it. Ive thrown it on a few patterns and it seems to roll good even when theres volume on the lane. It will defiantly be the second or third ball out of my bag on longer patterns once the front part of the lanes open up.

The new hybrid Attention Star S2 from Roto Grip is going to be a huge hit. With eTrax Plus hybrid cover and coming out of the box at 2000 grit, this is the perfect complement to the Attention Star. I drilled mine 4 x 4.5 x 4 which has been my go to pin down asymmetrical layout and this ball really blends out the lane. Its a lot cleaner than the bigger asymmetrical solid balls but makes a similar controllable motion on the fresh. If you were in love with the Attention Star and just want something a little stronger, definitely purchase an S2.

Roto Grip’s newest HP4 line ball has a little bit of a different twist on it. The Cloned ET core which features an RG of 2.51, differential of 0.056 and PSA of 0.016, has the new Optitrax Solid cover but this solid is polished with Reacta Gloss. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and after throwing this ball for awhile I was completely surprised by that reaction of it. The Cloned ET core is an upgrade of the ET Core that was found on the UFO and UFO Alert. I thought with that happening the ball will be a little blend between those two balls but to my shock it reminds me of a weaker version of my DNA which I also have Reacta Gloss on. I think the Clone is going to be a house shot killer for any style of bowler and I think tournament bowlers will enjoy the versatilely of having it shinny or taking some surface too it.

Roto Grip’s most iconic line has another new piece coming to it. The Roto Grip Duo features the brand new Mentor Core that yields an RG of 2.49 and differential of 0.046 and is wrapped around the ultra popular microtrax pearl cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 which is also the same layout as my Exotic Gem. After throwing my Duo for awhile, I was quite impressed on the strength and shape this ball gave me. It was like a little clean benchmark type motion or a better comparison would be a baby Exotic Gem. I can see a lot of people using this as a multi purpose ball. They could either use it on the fresh as a benchmark ball or something as the lanes start to transition. Also Storm is donating 5% of all sales of the Duo to the Big Brother, Big Sister Foundation!

Roto Grip’s newest HP4 line ball is the Exotic Gem. It features the Micro-Trax pearl cover which has the Defiant LRG core and the new Reacta Gloss polish. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and after throwing this ball I was quite impressed. The Exotic Gem is just clean through the front part of the lane but because of the Defiant LRG core it is without a doubt the earliest and strongest pearl on the market today. Compared to the Gem which I had also drilled this way, the Exotic is a few feet cleaner down lane and create more backend shape. I feel like lower rev rate will fall in love with this super strong pearl and ones with higher rev rates will also get more use out of the Exotic Gem due to the fact of the Micro-Trax pearl cover.

The Gem is Roto Grip’s newest HP4 line, which is a MONSTER. It comes with the Defiant LRG Core, the lowest RG asymmetrical Roto Grip has ever made, and it is wrapped around the MicroTrax Solid cover and is finished with 2000 Abralon. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 which is a little weaker than I normally do because I knew how strong this ball was going to be. I’ve been throwing this ball for awhile now and even with the weaker drilling the ball is still super strong. I compared the Gem to my favorite pin down symmetrical heavy oil ball the Idol Helios. My Gem and Idol Helios are within a couple boards with the Gem being a little smoother on the back compared to the Helios. This also shows you how strong the Gem actually is since the Helios is a lot stronger than the Gem. If you are in the market for a new heavy oil ball, tournament ball or just wants something to hook a ton, well you need to pick up the Roto Grip Gem !

This ball FLAT OUT HOOKS! After throwing the Roto Grip Idol earlier in the year, I thought to myself, wow, this ball hooks. Now a few months later, the new Halo from Roto Grip hooks even more. I drilled mine with a 5 x 5.5 x 1 layout putting the pin high above my fingers. I choose to go with this layout because I was worried about the super strong cover and core burning up too early. The Halo will easily give you 6 to 8 boards more than the Idol. This will easily make the Roto Grip Halo your first option on long patterns. If you are looking for a ball that loves oil, look no further than the new Halo from Roto Grip!

Halo Pearl – 5.5 x 5 x 3

Yet another highly anticipated ball from Roto Grip, once the Idol Pearl came out earlier in the bowling season you knew it was only a matter of time before the stronger pearl version of the Halo to come out. Just like with the Idol and Halo, the Halo Pearl has the same cover stock as the Idol Pearl just in the asymmetrical version of it. Halo Pearl is a touch stronger than the Idol Pearl and also a little bit earlier. For everyone who loves either the Idol, Halo and Idol Pearl, the Halo Pearl is another must get from Roto Grip !

Roto Grip’s newest HP4 line ball has the same color scheme as another blast from the past and it sure doesn’t disappoint either. This ball is as equally strong as the original Halo with the only the Vision being a little cleaner but not as clean or as angular as the Halo Pearl. Lower rev and Tweeners will love this ball because it gives you the same look as a big hooking solid but without burning up as quickly and higher rev players will love how clean it is.

The Hustle line has been a staple in Roto Grip’s arsenal for a few years one. Hustle core has an RG of 2.53 and Diff of 0.030 and is a cool looking Army/Black/Brown color giving it the Camo look it’s called. It is the solid shinny version of the VTC cover. I drilled mine 6 x 5.5 x 2 and my purpose behind this was to give me a higher RG layout on a ball I intend to use on shorter patterns after the lanes transition from urethane. After throwing is ball for a little while I was quite impressed. I was able to move in on a shorter pattern and throw it towards the gutter and it never overrated. It was clean through the front part of the lane but pretty smooth on the back. I will be able use this ball mostly on shorter patterns after urethane is exhausted and maybe on some medium length patterns that don’t have a ton of volume to them.

The newest solid cover stock Hustle is an absolute beast. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and his hands down is the best Hustle I have ever drilled and this is also the strongest. This ball is easily about 7 boards stronger to me than the Hustle INK was. House patterns with a little more oil will best suit this ball and will be great on some sports patterns in the middle of blocks.

The Hustle RAP is a new hybrid cover stock in the Hustle line. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and this ball is super clean and angular. It’s about 5 boards less than the Hustle PBR. This is going to be a ball I used later in league or later in tournaments when the front part of the lane starts to hook.

Roto Grip’s newest Hustle is going to be a hit in league or late in tournaments with some friction! I drilled my Hustle RIP 5 x 5 x 3 and was quite impressed on how slow it was on the back. It didn’t give me that typical over angular motion that Ive seen on the last few Hustle release. It is just as clean as the other Hustles but it really blends out the back part of the lane. This ball is going to excel in league conditions or even late in tournaments.

Hands down the best entry level balls in the business are the Roto Grip Hustles and you can add another great piece to that list. The Hustle USA is the latest hybrid to the Hustle line in a perfect Red, White and Blue looking ball. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and I was super impressed with this ball out of the box. I have had a lot success with the Hustle line with the Hustle PBR being my favorite one of all time and this USA reminds me of the PBR. The shape this ball gives me is super close to the PBR even though it might be a hair cleaner with more pop but compared to the RAP which was the last hybrid Hustle we had, its not even a fair comparison. The RAP was a ball I could use when there was a lot of friction on the lanes but when it saw the oil it defiantly wasn’t the right ball but the USA not only loves the dry, it also loves oil! This is going be a very versatile ball in the Roto Grip line and this will be the first ball out of my bag on league nights !

The Hyped line from Roto Grip has been sneaky good in my opinion since they have been out. I was super impressed with the Hyped Hybrid last year, it was probably the best ball for its price point and the Hyped Pearl was pretty good was well. Now that we have the Hyped Solid we can see them handle a little more oil. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 because I actually wanted to use this ball in league to help me later in the night when the lanes start to get a little cliffed. After throwing this ball it defiantly does what I intended it to do. Got down the lane with ease because of the pin down drilling but because of the solid cover stock didn’t overreact in the dry. I can totally see if this ball was drilled pin up and a little stronger it would be a lot closer to what I saw in the Hyped Hybrid but just a little smoother. If you are looking for a ball for league or some medium to short sport pattern look no farther than the Hyped Solid !

The Hyper Cell Fused comes armed with the E Trax H-18 Hybrid cover and the Nucleus Core with an RG of 2.52, Diff of 0.056 and PSA Diff of 0.018. I drilled mine 4.5x5.5x2 with no extra hole. When I first started throwing this ball I noticed that even though this ball is asymmetrical, it is very clean through the front part of the lane and makes a strong but not too angular motion. I can see myself using this ball on patterns greater than 40 41 feet depending on the volume, on the fresh or after the first couple of games.

I drilled my Idol 5 x 5 x 3 with no extra-hole. I was really excited when this ball was announced to use and all the hype behind it wasn’t a surprise. After the first few shots with it, it instantly became a favorite ball in my bag. For a ball with a RG of 2.48, this ball is super clean through the front part of the lane with a lot of angle in the back. Compared to the Hyper Cell Fused it was just as clean but a little more hook. These 2 ball will make a great 1-2 punch in any bowlers bag & if you were a fan of a Haywire, you’ll defiantly want this ball.

The ever so popular Idol line has been a hit since Roto Grip announced the original Idol in the HP3 line. This Ikon core ball is wrapped around the XtremeTrax pearl cover. This ball has a 4000 grit box finish. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and I will be comparing it to the ever so popular 900 Global Zen and my Idol Helios. Now my first few shots with this ball I actually had it very similar to my Zen. They kind of made the same shape and picked up the lane in similar parts. I feel like it revs up quick in the mid lane and makes a smooth motion towards the pocket. Now I normally hit my Zen with 2000 so if it was shinny I bet I would see more of difference in shapes. Now compared to my Helios the Cosmos is a little cleaner but the motions are similar. I can see myself using the Cosmos right after my Helios. It controls the mid lane really well and doesn’t over react in the dry.

The Ikon Core that was made famous in the original Idol, is now wrapped around the brand new XtremeTrax solid cover. XtermeTrax is a chemically charged nano particles which create the thought amount of responsiveness to friction. I was a huge fan of the original Idol and it was one of my favorite balls to throw on fresh longer patterns or patterns that had a lot of volume on them so when I got my hands on the Helios, I was super excited. I drilled my Idol Helios 4.5 x 4.5 x 4, which is also the same drilling I had in my original Idol and Zen Master. My first few impressions were WOW. This ball really picks up the lane a lot sooner but never stopped hooking in the back part of the lane. I found the Helios a lot like my Idol but the major difference is that my Idol needed a large weight hole close to the thumb to really get it started up and the Helios doesn’t need the weight hole because the cover stock is that much earlier. This ball is really strong up front but also continues down lane. If you were a fan of the original Idol or if you were looking for a strong symmetrical ball, the Idol Helios is going to be a MUST have.

The ultra popular Roto Grip was the strongest symmetrical ball that I have ever thrown, in fact I have 2 of them because they are so versatile. Everyone always asked when the pearl version was coming out, well wait no more. I drilled my 5 x 5 x 3, This ball is much cleaner than the original Idol and so much stronger on the back end. The Idol Pearl is about 4-2 weaker than the Idol, it actually fits just after the Hyper Cell Fused making this a very helpful 3 ball arsenal!

Roto Grip’s HP3 line has been one of the most popular lines in bowling in recent years and this release doesn’t disappoint either. I drilled my Idol Pro just like my original Idol and Idol Pearl, 5 x 5 x 3. After throwing the Idol Pro from some time I quickly realized why I love throwing these balls so much. Compared to the original Idol the pro gives you the same overall ball shape and motion just a touch weaker because of the cover difference. The Idol Pro is much stronger compared to my Idol Pearl. If anyone liked either of these two bowling balls your not going to want to miss out on this ball !

What more can you say about the historic Roto Grip Idol line? Since the introduction of the original Idol in 2018, the success of this line has been almost unmatched. Fast-forward 2 years and we now have the widely asked about Hybrid version of this ball. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and let me tell you that I instantly fell in love with this ball. It is as clean as the Idol Pearl in the front part of the lane and hooks just as much as the Idol Solid. It is actually close to a Phaze 3 shape wise but it is just stronger. This ball will be very versatile on either the fresh or later in blocks.

Roto Grip’s HP4 line has been one of the strongest lines in bowling mostly due to the facts of the Gems. Well the Magic Gem doesn’t disappoint. The Defiant LRG core is wrapped around the 2 parts pearl, 1 part solid Microtrax Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and WOW, what a first impression. I bowled on a 43 foot 4:1 pattern and the Magic Gem out performed my DNA and Eternity Pi and it was because they were burning up either. The Defiant LRG core is just the strongest core in bowling and paired with this cover I was able to move in and open up the entire lane with this ball. Anyone who though the Gem was a little too strong for them or maybe the Exotic Gem went too long than I would deeply look into the Magic Gem.

I drilled my Roto Grip MVP 5.5 x 5.5 x 3, this ball gives me that strong look later in blocks but with enough pop down lane. I’ve used this ball on a variety of patterns so far ranging from 36 ft too 41 ft later in blocks. This ball reminds me a lot of a Wrecker and how much it hooks for its price point. Roto Grip’s HP2 Line of balls have been extremely popular through the bowling community. With last year introduction of the MVP and MVP Pearl the HP2 continued its success. This year we have the same Neutron NXT Core wrapped around the all-new VTC-H20 Hybrid cover, which is 2 parts pearl, and one part solid. I drilled mine 3 x 6 x 2.5. I choose this layout because I wanted a symmetrical ball that I could keep my angles in front of me on the fresh on longer medium length patterns. My first impression after throwing this ball is that even with the 3 inch pin, this ball doesn’t really burn up. You can still see how much it response in the back part of the lane. It is closer to the MVP Pearl than the MVP reaction wise but picks up the lane about 2-3 feet sooner than the Pearl.

I had a lot of success with the original MVP over the summer and when they announced the MVP Pearl, I was very excited. I drilled mine 5.5 x 4 x 5 and I actually broke the cover 2000 grit. This ball revs up strong on the mid-lane and gives me a similar reaction that my Winner Solid but the Winner was a lot cleaner and stonger on the back end. League bowlers will love the MVP Pearl all around and tournament bowlers will love this ball later in blocks because it is not as long as other pearl balls.

Roto Grip hit the nail right on the head with this asymmetrical pearl. Wrapped around the all new eTrac-P20 Pearl cover, the trusted Nucleus core will always prove its might. I drilled mine 6 x 5 x 2 and after throwing it a few time I’m really glad I didn’t drill it any stronger because it would just be too much ball for me. Even being pin up and the longer pin you can see this ball start reving super early and it never quits. I used this ball multiple times before I got into the stronger symmetrical balls.

Roto Grip’s Optimum Idol is a remake of the every so loved and missed Idol. It features MicroTrax Solid cover and the famous Ikon core with AI tech. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and this is exactly how I drilled my first Idol back in the day and I was super excited for this one. When I first started to throw it, it reminded me of the original one. It gave me a clean motion through the fronts for a solid but made a nice aggressive motion in the back part of the lane. This ball will be very versatile for me as I will be able to use it on the fresh and as the second or third ball out of my bag depending on the pattern length and volume. If you loved the Idol then your going to want to run to pick up the Optimum Idol today!

The Optimum Idol Pearl comes with Micro Trax Pearl cover that was featured on the Exotic Gem. I drilled mine 5 x 3 which is the same layout on my Optimum Idol. After throwing this ball for awhile I was actually quite shocked on what I saw. I couldn’t tell if I was throwing the solid or the pearl because the shapes were very similar for me. The Pearl is about 3/4 weaker but shapes the same way as the solid. If you were a fan of the Optimum Idol, then you should no doubt grab an Optimum Idol Pearl for that ball after the Optimum once they transition.

With Roto Grip’s discontinuing the Optimum Idol from the HP3 line, we were left wondering what the replacement would be. Look no farther than the ROCK STAR! The Rock Star features the all new Rocker AI Core and NanoStar Solid cover. I decided to drill mine 4.5 x 4 and after throwing this ball for awhile and watching others throw it, I know this is going to be a huge hit. It has the similar overall strength as the Optimum Idol and Phase 2 but has a little more shape down lane than those balls. The Optimum Idol is my favorite ball in my bag and goes with me to every tournament and I find that the Rock Star is the perfect ball down for me from it and is more of a benchmark ball in the line. The newest HP4 line ball from Roto Grip features the MicroTrax Hybrid cover with the all-new RST Core. The RST Core comes with an RG of 2.53, Differential of 0.053 and a PSA Differential of 0.016. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5.5 x 1 and after throwing this ball for sometime I was quite amazed on how this ball actually rolled. For an asymmetrical ball this angled more down lane than I could image but it also responds well with slight hand changes to at release. This is a shape that I have never seen on the Roto Grip, this ball actually reminds me of a Storm Physix. This is a ball I will be able to use just after the bigger balls on the fresh when I need more shape down lane.

The RST X-3 is the newest HP4 line ball ball from Roto Grip. It has the proven RST Core and a version of MircoTrax Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and after throwing this ball for awhile I completely fell in love with the shape this ball gave me. With the higher RG on this ball and the Fast 4K this ball did get down lane pretty easily and really didn’t lose any energy going through the pins. Also when I did miss in the oil with this ball it didn’t push too far, it still dug in and give me plenty of giddy up through the pins. Compared to my Infinite Physix which is drilled very similar, the RST was a bit cleaner and more angular down lane. If you are looking for that perfect transition ball after the bigger hook monsters or just looking for a bigger ball to give you some length and still have some big back end motion, you’re going to want to get this RST X-3.

The all new Roto Grip Rubicon features the eTrax-S20 Solid cover and the all new asymmetrical Rondure Core which yields an RG of 2.48, Diff of 0.052 and a PSA Diff of 0.011. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 4. Since the introduction of the Idol Solid I have loved the motion the one with this ideational layout in it but due to the new rule of no longer allowing extra holes I am unable to use it but I think I found something that is close if not an even better reaction in the Rubicon. This ball just flat out hooks and continues through the pin deck like nothing ever before. It response to friction without over reaction but when there’s more oil it doesn’t give up and plaque. This is going to be a very popular ball with lot of people and versatile as well weather you drill it pin up or pin down !

The newly release Roto Grip Rubicon UC2 features the Rondure Core which is wrapped around the latest version of the eTrax pearl cover. I drilled my UC2 5.5 x 5.5 x 1. I was excited to drill this ball because I absolutely loved the Idol Pearl and since the original Rubicon has reminded me so much of my favorite Idol, I couldn’t wait to throw this one. After throwing this ball for awhile it stood out against everything else. It is a lot smoother than say an Axiom Pearl and Trend but has a little more backend shape than my iQ Tour Nano Pearl. Compared to the Rubicon, I actually have to be deeper into the oil with it because the cover stock sees the friction so well and doesn’t slow down. I believe the Rubicon UC2 will be one of the most versatile balls in my bag by using it on the fresh and those early transition games!

The Rondure core has helped bridge the gap been the symmetrical cores to the bigger asymmetrical core with the Rubicon and Rubicon UC2, now Roto Grip has taken that core and added a whole new cover stock and style to the Rubicon line with the brand new Tour-Ethane pearl cover stock. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 1and after throwing this ball I was completely shocked. I thought it was going to be a little stronger than the Fever Pitch, which was Storm’s pearl urethane ball, but this ball was a totally different motion. It revved up quick like typical urethanes do but then it kept going and continued through the pin deck even after it had about 5-6 games of oil on the cover where other balls would start deflecting. The UC3 is a lot stronger than any of the urethanes on the Storm line and will be a great addition to any bowlers bag who is looking for something when there is extra friction on the lane.

The HP3 line has been a HUGE success from Roto Grip since the beginning. The TNT brings a new core with an successful cover. The Torpex core has an RG of 2.47 and a differential of 0.052 and is wrapped around the eTrax+ Solid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and I’ve had a lot of success with balls from this line with that drilling and similar level line balls. Balls like the Idol, Zen Master and Idol Pro just to name a few. After throwing my TNT for awhile I know this is going to be a MUST have ball. It’s a touch cleaner than the Zen Master and doesn’t rev up as much. I’ve bowled on multiple patterns and I can’t believe how versatile this ball is. I am able to keep my angles in front of me and when the lanes started to break down and transition this ball allowed me to keep moving in and opening up my angles. Don’t miss out on getting a TNT today !

Roto Grip’s newest HP3 line ball is a 2 part pearl 1 part solid eTrax+ hybrid cover that is wrapped around the Torpex core. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5 and after throwing this ball for awhile, I believe this is going to be a HUGE hit. It was pretty clean through the fronts but it still handles the oil pretty well and the motion it makes on the backend with the ways it goes through the pins is what really sets it apart. This is going to be very versatile on where you can use it and the different motions it makes. You can add surface to make it better for the fresh or leave it shinny and have it own the transition.

Any SPI line ball with the word “Tour” in it has to be a huge success right? The new Tour Dynam-X is going to be no different. This ball features the Rondure Tour Core which is a spin off of the Rondure Core that was found in the Rubicons. This ball also has a new TourTrax Solid cover. I drilled mine to serve a different purpose in my bag, the 6 x 6 x 2 layout. I wanted something that was weaker drilled on the resin side but still was kind of quick when it saw the friction. After I first threw this ball I was completely shocked that it was still very strong and never really quit on me. I think anyone who bowls tournaments must have this in the bag because it’s going to be a great ball for the fresh because of how smooth it is.

Roto Grip’s newest HP4 line ball comes with a brand new core design and cover. The E.T. Core comes with an RG of 2.52, differential of 0.054 and PSA Differential of 0.016 and the MircoTrax-S20 Solid cover stock. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 2, and I instantly fell in love with this ball motion. Typically I don’t use a lot of Asymmertical solids because they either hook too much or burn up to quickly if I’m not bowling on a longer pattern but with the higher RG in the UFO, I don’t really see burn at all. It’s about 3-4 longer than the Gravity Evolve with more response down lane but because of the solid cover stock, I am still able to use this ball on the fresh in some cases. This ball will be a staple in my bag on patterns greater than 41 ft as a number 1 or 2 ball in my bag and with USBC’s coming up, I can see a lot of these going down the lane.

Roto Grips newest HP4 line ball features the ET Core, wrapped around the hybrid eTrax cover. I drilled mine 5 x 3 x 4.5 and after throwing this ball for a while I was quite impressed on how smooth it was. This cover is also featured on the Idol Synergy but slightly different because this is two parts pearl one part solid instead of the 50/50 blend found on the Synergy. The UFO Alert really allows me to blend the lane out when they are really wet/dry and doesn’t over react when I miss towards the gutter. I will probably knock the shine slightly off mine to utilize it more as a fresh ball but I can see myself using this ball for entire blocks because of the cover/core combination.

Drilled 4.5 x 2, the Ultimate Wrecker delivers a smooth, clean look through the fronts without being overly angular on the backend. The Wrecker AI core paired with the hybrid coverstock gives it a controlled, continuous motion—making it a reliable step down from stronger pieces like the Zen25 or Zen Gold Label, yet still a step up in strength and versatility compared to benchmark options like the Hy-Road or Hy-Road Pearl. A great option for blending wet-dry or transitioning from earlier, stronger looks. If you were a fan of the original Wrecker, defiantly pick up the Ultimate Wrecker

This newest ball from Roto Grip comes with a whole new cover and core combination. The mutated Rotary core comes with an RG of 2.60 and a differential of 0.048 with the SureTrax-S19 cover and 3000 grit finish. First impressions of throwing this ball were actually kind of shocking. For having such a high RG, it was a lot earlier than I expected but if came around it I noticed it could open the lane up more and really make it angle. This is a ball that I can do multiple things with my hand and it will respond accordingly. This ball will be a tournament bowlers dream, to keep using longer in blocks.

I drilled my Roto Grip Winner 5.5 x 5 x 3. Compared to my Storm Match Up Pearl, the Winner gave me a similar motion with more over-all performance. The Match Up Pearl was my go-to ball when I started to see friction either in the front part of the lanes or just overall lane play. The Winner will be a bit more versatile because of the slightly stronger cover and core. While throwing the Winner, I noticed that on almost every shot, it continued to drive through the pocket and never deflected off the pocket. If you’re a tournament bowler or just searching for a good overall league option, the Roto Grip WINNER is the clear choice.

I drilled my Roto Grip Winner Solid 5.5 x 5 x 5. Just after a first few shots I noticed that this ball is smoother and more continuous than the original. The Winner Solid is just a touch stronger than the Hustle Ink but the Ink has much more response on the back end. This ball will be the first ball out of my bag on those patterns between 38-40 ft or just after my iQ Tour.

The X Cell is the latest HP4 line ball from Roto Grip and brings back the famous Cell name. The Nucleus Core now features AI Tech and is wrapped around the eTrax Ultra Solid cover stock. Now I drilled my X Cell with a little different layout than I normally do because I was looking for it to do a specific thing, 4 x 4.5 x 2.5. I brought my Harsh Reality to test against it and I was quite shocked on the motion it made. Even with the stronger drilling in it, it was able to get down the lane with ease and the continuation it gives is incredible. It seems like the ball just struck from anywhere. I believe this ball is going to bridge the gap when the bigger asymmetric solids are just a little too much and the stronger symmetrical solids aren’t quite enough. Lower rev rate players will also love the strength this ball gives them without worrying about how it goes through the pins.

The Storm Absolute is the newest asymmetrical hybrid in the Premier line. It features the new Sentinel Core which yields an RG of 2.48, Diff of 0.050 and PSA of 0.021 and is wrapped around the all new R2S Deep Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x. 2 and I was pleasantly surprised by this ball. Normally I rarely find a asymmetrical shinny ball that I’m able to use a ton of because being of the left side and having a higher ball speed I typically don’t ever get into the stronger asymmetrical shinny balls but this one is totally different. For me its not overly strong like say a Infinite Physix or RST X-3 but it’s stronger than the Zen’s and Phaze’s. It’s very clean for an asymmetrical but doesn’t lose that pop on the backend. This ball bridges the gap between the balls like Eternity, Infinite Physix and the Zen line. Your defiantly not going to want to miss out on this one.

The Absolute Power is the second ball in the Absolute family. The Absolute I was a ball that I didn’t use a lot because it was so clean for an asymmetrically due too R2S Deep Hybrid but when I did use it, it was really good especially at USBC Nationals on the D/S pattern. The Power is wrapped in the R2S Deep Solid cover and I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5. When I first threw this ball I couldn’t believe the shape this ball gave me, it reminded me of a Phaze 2 just stronger. It gave me a little length compared to other solid asymmetrical balls like the DNA and Eternity Pi but it still made a strong motion in the oil. This is a ball I’m going to use on multiple different pattern lengths and volumes, this one is going to be super popular!

Storm’s latest release in the Hy-Road line brings us the popular core with the recently popular NRG Hybrid cover stock. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and after throwing this ball for while it was very smooth off the pattern. The All Road is a lot earlier and smoother than the Hy-Road X which leads to it being just a little stronger. I would compare this to the older Hy-Road Nano with the All-Road being a touch longer.

Storm’s new premier line ball comes with Storm’s best cover stock, the R2S Pearl. The last time Storm used the R2S Pearl on a premier line ball was a Code Black. Compared to the original Physix, you will notice that the AstroPhyix is a little cleaner and more off the spot but a lot less of a ball because of the weaker cover. This ball will be great for later in tournaments when you need something to change direction a lot or for those typical league patterns.

Storm is always looking to lead the way in cover stocks and the new NeX (Nano Extreme) is going to push the limits even more. Wrapped around the new Orbital core, the NeX Solid cover reads the lane earlier than the NRG covers. I drilled mine with my favorite pin up layout, 5x5x3. I was a little afraid at first because I wasn’t sure how early the ball was going to read the lane but after a few shots, WOW. This ball was easy through the front but when it saw the friction it never quits, it always kept on coming. This ball is quickly becoming one of the favorites in my bag really quick !!!

Storm’s Axiom Pearl features the same fast revving Orbital Core as the original as the Axiom but this one is wrapped around the pearl version of the NeX. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3, after throwing a couple games with the Axiom Pearl, I noticed that it was clean as any other pearl ball but it wasn’t as angular as one. The backend reaction was still strong but it reminded me more of a solid cover bowling ball on it was smooth and continuous. This ball will be very versatile as I believe I will be able to use it on the fresh when I see friction all over the lane and also sometimes later in blocks! Higher friction house shots will best suit this ball for league!

I drilled my Code X 4.5 x 4.5 x 2 with a 1 inch extra-hole 4.5 inches of the center of my grip line. My first impression of this ball was that it wasn’t as early as Sure Lock but it gave me more continuation thru the pins. For all those people who liked the Code Reds and Code Blacks, they will absolutely love this ball for times when there is more oil and don’t be afraid to take the surface down to 1000 or less if you are looking for more hook depending on your style of bowling.

The new Crux Prime by Storm picked up right where the Alpha Crux left off giving Storm that dominate asymmetrical ball at the top of their line. Having never thrown the Alpha Crux or Sure Lock, I choose to Compare it too the Roto Idol Solid, the Crux Prime actually gives me a similar motion as Idol but in a stronger motion. If you loved any of the Crux’s and especially the Alpha Crux, you will absolutely love this ball.

The ultra popular RAD4 core is back and this time it features a brand new cover formula ReX, which is NeX and R2S combined. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 1 and for comparison purposes, I compared it to the Roto Grip RST X-1, which I have also drilled the same way. After throwing the Dark Code, I was quite amazed on how strong this ball was and how much it continued to angle down lane. It is just a couple boards strong than the RST but the shapes of the ball are totally different. The RST is a lot more of a smoother angled shape into the pocket, where the Dark Code you can see the cover dig in and once it makes its motion it doesn’t quit. I can see myself using this ball later in blocks on longer patterns where I still need a strong but angular motion.

Storm’s newest premier line ball is the DNA of what they stand for. This ball features a brand new cover and core combination, starting with the Supercoil weight block that yields an RG of 2.47, Differential of 0.053 and PSA of 0.023 and is wrapped around the EXO Solid coverstock. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and when I first got this ball I was super excited for it because I have had such success with the Proton Physix and Super Nova. Looking at the numbers I thought this ball would be as early and kinda lazy on the back like the Roto Grip Gem was but after throwing this ball for a little bit I was shocked on how much this ball actually continued on the backend. I would say its more of a stronger/earlier version of the 900 Global Reality more than the previous balls I mentioned. I can see myself using this ball as a number #2 ball right after my Proton or Super Nova because its going to be just as strong but offer me a touch more continuation and before balls like the Zen Soul and Eternity. If you feel like solid asymmetrical balls haven’t matched up to your game because they are just too strong but still want to give it a try your going to want to grab a DNA because it gives you the best of both worlds.

The Storm DNA Coil is one of the HOTTEST balls on the market today. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and after the first time I threw this ball I knew it was going to be a huge success! For a pearl it is very continuous off the end of the pattern but still gets down the lane with ease and always just seems to strike. I have a few sets over 840 with this ball already and it’s been my go to piece when ever I bowl!

I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5, my first thoughts throwing this ball that it was pretty smooth for something with a pearl cover. This ball defiantly reacts better when there’s friction on the lanes. League bowlers that face drier lanes are going to like this ball a lot !

Storm’s latest performance ball is designed to handle 80% of those conditions that we see every week, with patterns between 39 and 44 feet, Storm really stepped up the game with the Equinox. Featuring an all new Solarion AI Core which has an RG of 2.48, Diff of 0.054 and PSA of 0.018 and is wrapped around the A1S Pearl cover. I drilled mine 4 x 4.5 x 2 hoping for a similar shape to my trusty Physix Blackout and after tweaking with the cover a little, this ball was all that was advertised. The first time I really got to throw it in a tournament was on Kegel Chromium and it struck ALOT. It blended out the dry parts of the lane and didn’t overreact and my misses in the oil the ball still picked up in the right part of the lane and carried. You can see the Solarion core really rev up in the middle of the lane but the A1S cover doesn’t over hook in the dry like some of the other pearl asymmetrical’s I’ve thrown. If you are looking for a ball for league or just a versatile pearl asymmetrical for those weekend tournaments, rush to your local VIP Pro Shop and grab the Equinox!

Storm’s newest urethane features an all new core and cover combination. The Fast Pitch features the Tour Block core, which resembles the trusted Hy-Road core and has an RG of 2.61 and has a diff of 0.030 in 15 lbs. It also features the new Controll XL solid urethane cover which fits in-between the Controll Solid in the Pitch Black and the Rev-Controll Solid in the Pitch Purple. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and after throwing mine for awhile I noticed that it gave me the same reaction as a Pitch Black with a just overall strong motion. I would actually compare the Fast Pitch more to a Roto Grip Hot Cell on strength but this ball will absolute help all urethane loving tournament bowlers you stride for the blended shape urethane gives and short pattern dominance.

The Fate is the latest ball with the Belmo logo on it, this ball has a brand new core design in the F-8 which yields an RG of 2.52 and a differential of 0.053 and is wrapped around the REX Pearl cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5. After throwing this ball for awhile I was quite impressed of where it would fit in my bag. It doesn’t go as long as say a Hy Road or Night Road but it isn’t as early as some of the lower RG pearl balls are in the line. The Fate gave me the best of both worlds, it was clean in the heads but gave me enough mid lane motion for if I missed in the oil it still recovered. I will be using this ball in the middle and later in blocks where I need something cleaner through the fronts but not as long as some of the higher RG balls. This ball will also be great for many styles in league because of the medium RG value. I can see a lot of different styles using this ball throughout the night.

The gap between the Roto Grip Hot Cell and Storm Pitch Black was always a big gap as the Hot Cell has that much stronger Asymmertical core. Enter the new Fever Pitch, a pearl urethane that packs way more punch than its predecessor in the Pitch Blue. Fever Pitch was more back end and cleaner than the Pitch Black. This ball will be great on those patterns that are a little longer where the Pitch Black isn’t enough or once you need something with a little more pop on the back end but need that urethane type shape.

When you think of the Shape Lock HD core you might think of Storm’s best selling asymmetrical ball of all time, Storm Virtual Gravity. Well now they have added the SPEC cover to one of the greatest cores of all time and this ball doesn’t disappoint. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 1 and even with the super high pin in this ball it still is very heavy rolling. This ball will be a staple in any bowlers bag for longer patterns or for lower rev players looking for that heavy rolling motion through the pins.

The Hy Road Max is the latest installment of one of the most historical line of bowling balls in bowling today. The Hy Road Max features the classic Inverted Fe2 weight block wrapped around the recently popular NeX Solid cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 3 x 3 and here is a disclaimer, if you are looking for another Hy Road that creates a lot of angle, this probably isn’t the Hy Road for you. The Max is a lot smoother and reads the lanes much earlier due to NeX. After throwing mine for a couple weeks this ball actually reminds me of a stronger version of the Roto Grip Wild Streak from last year. It is really good when the lanes are fresh and doesn’t give you too much backend reaction like the original Hy Road does. Heavier volume patterns or flatter patterns where you want a smoother ball reaction will best suit this Hy Road Max. MUST HAVE FOR TOURNAMENT BOWLERS.

This ball yells the original Hy Road core with an RG of 2.57 and a Diff of 0.046 but futures NRG Solid cover that comes 2000 grit out of the box. I drilled mine 5x5x2 with no extra-hole. My first thoughts when throwing this ball was despite the dull Nano cover, this ball is still clean throughout the front part of the lane with a strong motion in the back part of the lane like the original Hy Road. Medium length patterns with tighter backends or those longer patterns after a few games will match up the best with this stronger cover stock. Lower rev bowlers will also like the stronger cover to use on a variety of conditions. This is another great addition to the Hy Road line for when the original Hy Road isn’t strong enough

With the 10th anniversary of the orginal Hy-Road, Storm announced another addition to the legendary Hy-Road line with the Hy-Road X. I drilled mine 5 x 6 x 2 and left it with the out of the box finish. My first impression when throwing this ball was that Storm has done it again, they made the Hy-Road line even better. Compared to the Hy-Road Nano the X is a little cleaner and harder off the spot. This is going to be the ball I can see myself using after the first couple of games because it will be clean enough throughout the front part of the lane and with the solid cover it will not go completely sideways off the end of the pattern.

The Storm Incite features the all-new Tensor Core, which yields an RG of 2.50, Diff or 0.053 and PSA of 0.013, which is wrapped around the Hybrid version of R4S. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3. After throwing this ball for while, I was completely impressed on how much backend shape this ball created for being a mild asymmetrical ball. I haven’t found a pattern that at some point this ball wasn’t looking good. I was able to throw it straighter on the fresh and then once the lanes started transitioning I kept on moving in and the ball never stopped. The Incite will fill the bridge between the bigger asymmetrical balls and the symmetrical balls because it’s the best of both words. It is actually a little stronger with a similar down lane move as an Idol Synergy for me but because 3000 grit finish on the Incite, it picks up the lane about a foot sooner and handles the higher volumes a little bit better. No matter the pattern, I will always have the Incite in my bag!

Storm’s newest premier line ball is looking to be a home run! The Infinite Physix has the same Atomic core found in the other Physix line balls but this on is wrapped around the popular NEX pearl cover that was also found on the Dark Code from last season. This ball has a 4000 grit box finish compared to the old 1500 polish which the Dark Code was. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5 and my intention for this ball was to have something a little cleaner with more backend motion than my Proton Physix but not as clean and angular as my Reality. My first impression of this ball was how much midland motion this ball makes. I am very big on how I see my equipment front to back and this ball really picks up the mid lane but is also clean enough where it doesn’t over react on the dry. I can see myself using this ball after my Proton Physix on longer patterns and some fresh medium patterns because it gives me an amazing shape that I can tweak depending on the motion I am looking for. League bowlers will love this ball because it will pick up a little sooner than the Dark Code but not as much as a Proton Physix. If you are looking for a ball up or down from one of those balls, the Infinite Physix is the ball for you.

The Storm Ion Max features an NRG Solid cover with the Element Max A.I. core, making it a standout choice for bowlers seeking smooth, predictable performance. Drilled 4 x 4.5 x 4, it offers a slightly stronger reaction compared to the X-Cell, providing a versatile shape that's easy to control. Lower rev bowlers will appreciate its effectiveness on house shots, while tournament players will find it reliable on fresh conditions. Overall, the Ion Max is an excellent option for bowlers looking to enhance their versatility and consistency on the lanes.

The Ion Pro is the latest and greatest benchmark type category ball that is released by Storm adding to the success of the Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. The Ion Pro features the all new Element Tour AI core that yields an RG of 2.47, diff of 0.035 and PSA of 0.014 and is wrapped around the TX-16 Hybrid cover stock. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 4.5 which is also the same drilling I have in my Phaze 2 and iQ Tour. My first impression in throwing this ball was that is like the best of both balls for me. I naturally have the iQ Tour a little cleaner for a solid and I have the Phaze 2 a little more angular on the back and stronger overall hook. The Ion Pro sits directly between the too because for me the first half of it going down the lane reminds me of an Tour but the back half reminds me of a Phaze 2. I believe high rev players going to love this ball mostly because of the forgiveness of it and I can see it being great on the fresh or right after the Phaze 2.

With the PBAs new urethane rule that start the beginning of 2024, it was only a matter of time before Storm came out with something. Introducing the iQ Tour 78U, the ball features the iconic C3 core that has been in the iQ Tour for over 10 years and the new Controll 78 Urethane solid cover. This ball comes out of the box pretty dull with 500 grit finish to help with the added hardness and with the lower RG in the core I expected it to be way different than anything else SPI has created with urethane. I drilled mine like my favorite Fast Pitch, 5.5 x 1 and man I am super excited to have this ball in my bag. This ball is easy 4-5 boards of more overall hook than my Fast Pitch was so I believe I can use this on patterns with more volume and even a couple feet longer. It still gives me that typical urethane shape even with the hardness being higher. If you are in the market for an new urethane ball, look no farther than the iQ Tour 78U.

Storm iQ Tour AI is the latest installment in the Storms Master Line. We haven’t seen the R2S Hybrid on an iQ Tour since the iQ Tour Fusion and with the enhanced core numbers thanks to the AI being added brings us an RG of 2.48 and diff of 0.031. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 and I’m going to be quite honest, I haven’t been a true fan of any of the iQ Tours besides the original iQ Tour Solid which I love and still use. They feel very niche to me but this one is different because of the AI. I feel like this one doesn’t miss or go through the spot down lane for me and creates an whole bunch of down lane motion. It is probably about 3/4 stronger than my original iQ Tour with much more motion and continuous down lane. If you loved the iQ Tour and are looking for the perfect ball to use after it without giving away too much of the famous motion it makes or if you are just looking for a little more motion down lane, look no farther than the iQ Tour AI!

Storm’s iQ Tour Edition line has been successful since day one with the original iQ Tour Solid, since then they added 3 more amazing releases with the very popular iQ Tour Pearl, iQ Tour 30 Edition & iQ Tour Fusion. Well now we have another huge hit on our hands the iQ Tour Emerald. My first impression throwing this ball is how much it reminds me of the original Gold ball. This version is a touch earlier and softer off the spot, those trickier short-medium length pattern with some friction will match up the best with the new Emerald, this will pack an awesome 1-2 punch with the iQ Tour Solid.

What more can be said about the iQ Tour series of balls, from the original to both pearls, they have been huge hits and everyone has at least owned at least one of them. iQ Tour Nano Pearl is going to be another huge hit. I drilled mine with a 5.5 x 5 x 3 and after a couple shots I knew how much I would be using this ball because I love the motion so much. It is clean like the iQ Tour Pearl Emerald but isn’t as angular because of the Nano in the cover stock but because of the lower RG and Diff you can still use it on the fresh on high friction lane surfaces. If you are a tournament bowler and you have any of the previous iQ Tours or your looking to try one for the first time, you wont want to miss out on this ball !

What more can be said about the second longest production ball about the famed iQ Tour. Everyone has either had one or multiple iQ Tours and not just the Solid. iQ Tour Gold & Emerald were super popular among members of the bowling community was well and now with the introduction of the Ruby we have a cleaner shape in the iQ line that we have been missing. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and my first impressions of throwing this ball is that its a shape in my bag that I don’t have. Now wasn’t a huge fan of either of Gold or Emerald but I absolute love the Blue so I tried to keep the thoughts of the other two out of my head and decided to drill this pin up because I felt the other two were a little more over under for me. I love using the iQ Tour Solid on the fresh on a number of different patterns but when I have to open my angles up it loses some hitting power because of the lower diff in the ball, now with the introduction of the Ruby I am able to keep my angles in front of me a little longer in blocks because of the pearl cover stock so it gives a little more pop off the back end. I believe this ball will be popular among all skill levels of bowlers and you don’t want to miss out!

Jason Belmonte has been one of the worlds best bowlers now for a very long time and his designs in the Signature line showcases that. The Journey is the latest ball to have the Belmo stamp on the side of it. It features the F-8 Core that was found in the Fate but it has the much anticipated TX-16 Pearl cover for the first time ever. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and left it at box finish. Now the Fate has been one of one of my most favorite pearl balls recently and with the introduction of the Journey, I believe it will have the same amount of use in my bag as the Fate. The overall strengths of the ball is about the same as the Fate but the shapes are different. For me the Fate was earlier and more rounded where the Journey is more pop down lane. I believe the Journey is going to be a must have ball in the bag for everyone and you can adjust the surface to fine tune the motion to your liking or need on those tournament patterns.

The Lab Series from Storm is going to be precise ball motions and countless hours of R&D and it completely shows with the all new Level. Featuring the RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) Solid cover and the Equalizer AI core, that has an RG of 2.59 and diff of 0.027. I drilled mine 4 x 1 and this ball is very very special. It starts up as quick as urethane but continues more in the back similar reactive resin. Ive throw this ball for quite some time now and I would say this will be either a ball to start the block with or to use just urethane to create more shape down lane. If you aren’t a fan of urethane or struggle to shape it down lane, then the Level is the perfect ball for you.

Storms Lightning BlackOut is a pleasant surprise in the bowling bag. The Wrap AI Core features a RG of 2.53 and Diff of 0.0029 and is wrapped around the REX Pearl cover. The differential is the same as an iQ Tour but the RG is a lot higher but I believe they will work hand in hand with one another. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and when I first started to throw this ball it reminded me a lot of a iQ Tour Nano Pearl but it got through the front part of the lane easier. It almost appeared to me as the ball looking sluggish for the first 45 feet down the lane but it never missed the spot. It allows me to stay on top of it when I’m using urethane but it has enough versatility that I can open my angles up with it and hook it. I feel like this will be a great addition to the fans of the iQ Tour series who just want the ball to shape a little more down lane.

The legendary Hy Road line continues with the Night Road. It has the iconic Inverted Fe2 which has an RG of 2.57 and Diff of 0.046 and is wrapped about the REX pearl cover that was also found on the Dark Code and finished with Fast 4K. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and my first impressing of this ball was that it was super clean down lane but didn’t overreact off the spot. I actually fooled around with the surface of this ball and finally settled on 3000 which gave me a little bit more reaction of the pattern and more of a stronger Hy Road reaction than a Hy Road Pearl reaction that I was expecting. I can see this ball being great later in the day on medium/longer patterns or someone who wants to really have a strong backend reaction in league.

Storm’s new Premier line ball comes with the all new Ignition Core which is wrapped around the ultra popular R2X Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 and after throwing it for awhile I was quite surprised on how versatile this ball is. I can get it rolling early and smooth if I get my hand up the back of it and then when I need to move in and need more motion down lane I can get around it and the ball never stops. Compared to the recently released 900 Global Altered Reality, the Nova is about 3-4 more and about 2 feet sooner. The versatility of this ball actually reminds me of the older Storm Physix. This ball is going to be great on fresh and once the lanes start to transition into the blocks.

I drilled my Omega Crux 5 x 3 x 4 and left it at its box surface, this ball comes with the same Catalyst Core as the other Crux lined balls but wrapped with the brand new GI-20 Pearl cover. First impressions about throwing this ball was wow, for being a pearl this ball didn’t really jerk off the end of the pattern or when I missed into the friction. The Omega Crux glided through the front part of the lane. Multiple style of bowlers will enjoy the versatility of this ball and will shoot big numbers with it. I already have shot 839 with it just after a few times of using it.

Storm’s newest premier line ball is the hybrid asymmetrical Parallax. The Parallax comes with the new Aeroflo Core that will provide a truer roll with an RG 2.52, differential of 0.054 and PSA of 0.019. Combine 7 of the most popular covers Storm use and you’ll have the Traction X7 Cover. I drilled my Parallax 4.5 x 5.5 x 2. After throwing my Parallax for while it started to remind me of a smoother version of a Hyper Cell Fused. The Parallax revs up stronger in the mid lane and is a ball up from the Storm Axiom. Lower rev bowlers will love the strength of this ball for house shots and higher rev players who are looking for a smoother stronger ball will love the continuation of it.

I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and just after the first couple shots with this ball, I knew it was going to be a huge hit. The colors of this ball remind me of a Sure Lock from a few years ago but it is a lot stronger on the backend than one. It is a lot cleaner and doesn’t rev up as quick as the original Parallax. The motion of this ball is one of a kind and it has great appeal to it. If you need something that is going to be stronger on the backend and can handle multiple patterns, this Parallax Effect is going to be the ball you want.

Storm’s Phaze 2 has been one of the most successful balls that Storm has ever made. Now you have the same Velocity Core wrapped around the proven cover in the R2S pearl. I drilled my Phaze 4, 5.5 x 5 x 3 and after throwing the ball for a little while I completely fell in love with the motion it gave me. It’s much cleaner than my Phaze 2 and gives me a little more down lane motion but they are the perfect 1-2 combination for one another. I can see myself using this ball early in blocks because it gives me a much smoother reaction compared to a Spectre or Hy Road Pearl that I would throw later in blocks, I don’t want to put the Phaze 4 into the benchmark category but it is super close. This is a must have ball for any skill level of bowler, plus it looks and smells amazing !

The Storm Phaze AI is going to be the must have ball of the the year. With the 5 x 5 x 4.5 layout and the new Power Edge polish on the TX-16 pearl cover, it’s no surprise that it offers a unique backend motion. The Velocity AI core really seems to enhance that characteristic, allowing bowlers to create impressive recovery even as the lanes transition. It’s great to hear that it can help open up the lane after the oil breaks down—definitely a valuable asset for league play or tournaments. Have you had a chance to try it out on the lanes?

If you’re a tournament bowler or bowl in scratch leagues you’ve probably had or see people throw the popular Storm Phaze 2. Well now Storm has really out did themselves with the Phaze 3, which features the R3S Hybrid cover and the Velocity core. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2. With all the publicity and the anticipation behind this ball you knew it was going to be an instant hit. Well my time throwing it was on a 41 ft challenge pattern at a tournament and WOW this did not disappoint one bit. It was everything in my Phaze 2 but want stronger on the backend. This will be a versatile ball in anyone’s bag and the perfect ball behind the Phaze 2. EVERYONE will love this ball and should get one !

Storm’s newest Master line ball comes with the proven Velocity core and R2S Pearl cover stock. The Phaze 5 is a similar ball to the Phaze 4 with the only real difference between the two is that the Phaze 5 comes with Storm’s new Reacta Gloss finish. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and WOW do I love this ball! I’ve been throwing it in league for a couple weeks now and the motion that this ball gives is an absolute home run. It gives me that Phaze 2 shape on the backend but is a lot cleaner in the front part of the lane. This is going to be one of those balls that everyone must have and with the Velocity core you can drill it multiple ways depending on the motion you are looking for. Also this ball goes through the pins so well and absolutely hits like a truck. I’ve never seen a ball go through the pins like this Phaze 5. Everyone needs to run to their local VIP Pro Shop and grab one today!

Recently Storm has been missing a stronger asymmetrical hybrid ball and with the new Storm Physix you are not going to be disappointed. I drilled my 5.5 x 5.5 x .5, this ball is super clean and stores all it’s energy on the back. Now with it being a hybrid it will not always be the best on the long/heavy patterns but when compared to the Roto Grip Halo, it will be your next ball choice. I can see the Physix being a great ball on any pattern 40 feet and above.

Storm’s latest Signature line ball features a 2000 Grit NEX Pearl cover wrapped around the Atomic AI Core. I drilled my Physix Blackout 4 x 4.5 x 2 and have thrown it for a few times and I’m quite impressed by it. For a big asymmetric pearl ball it really reminded me of a solid. It was very smooth and didn’t over react when I threw it into the dry too quick. The NEX cover allows it to still handle some oil so I can see this being an overall great ball for a wide range of bowlers and conditions. House shots to sport shots this ball is going to be a must have in the bag because it could be the first ball out of your bag fro the fresh or it could be the second or third ball out of your bag once the lanes start to transition. Compared to my X-Cell the Blackout is smoother and about 4/5 less overall hook. The X-Cell actually created a ton more angle down lane and the Physix Blackout is probably 2/3 feet sooner than the X-Cell.

I’ve had a lot of success with Storm/Roto Grip urethane balls so when they announced the Pitch Purple I was very excited. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 4 and after throwing it, I was instantly in love. It was just as strong if not stronger as the Hot Cell from Roto Grip but not as long as the Fever Pitch. Also it didn’t give me that instant hook out of the box like the Pitch Black & Hot Cell. Shorter patterns with more volume or those mid length patterns will be great for this ball. If your not a fan of urethane but would like to try one, this would be the ball to get !

Storm’s new collaboration with Jason Belmonte is an absolute MUST for tournament bowlers. I have thrown this ball on multiple patterns with different volumes and this ball just NEVER quits and always continues through the pins. It is as smooth as an iQ Tour but as clean through the front part of the lane as a Phaze II.

Since the arrival of the Atomic Core, it has pushed the shaping limits of an asymmetrical ball. Wrap that around the NeX Solid cover and you have yourself the brand new Proton Physix. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 1 and after throwing this ball for awhile I noticed how difference this ball is compared to the Gravity Evolve or any other solid asymmetrical, this ball shapes totally different. The Proton Physix rolls strong in the mid lane but doesn’t quit on back end either. Which doesn’t surprise me in the Physix line. This ball will be great on heavier/longer patterns and on those heavy fresh house shots.

Road Warrior is going to be the absolute replacement for the iconic Hy Road Pearl. With the Inverted FE2 AI core and R2S Deep Pearl cover this ball makes a similar motion as the Hy Road Pearl but maybe a couple of feet sooner. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4.5 and I absolutely love this ball when the left side gets fried. It really allows me to either stay on top of it longer or even open my angles up and watch it hook down lane. This ball will an absolute hit later in blocks when you need something to really get through the front half of the lane. If you want to replace your Hy Road Pearl or just looking for direct replacement than look no farther.

Just by looking at the name of the SONiQ, you would think it’s apart of the iQ Tour family of balls, have been what many many customers have been telling me. The SONiQ features a new version of the Centripetal HD core giving this ball an RG of 2.47 and a Diff of 0.047 wrapped around the R2S Pearl cover. I drilled mine 6x4x5 with no extra hole. My first few shots with the SONiQ, I noticed how early the core read the lanes yet because of the pearl cover it gave me more pop on the back part of the lane compared to say an iQ Tour Solid. This will be a great ball for bowlers after their benchmark type balls begin to become too much, they will still get the same shape out of the core but the pearl cover will offer more backend motion.

The Thunder Line from Storm has a long history of successful balls and the new Spectre is going to be another one of those successful balls. The Vector core was designed to fill the gap between the Hy Road and Trend series of balls and comes with an RG of 2.54 and Differential of 0.050 and has the R3S Pearl cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and actually took a 2000 pad lightly to this ball just to get this ball a little sooner reaction. Compared to the recently released 900 Global Wolverine which has similar numbers to the Spectre, the Spectre is a board or two stronger and much more forward off the end of the pattern compared Wolverine. The motion the Spectre gives is second to none and there isn’t a ball on the current market that duplicates it. This is going to be a super popular ball for any bowler who is looking for a little more backend motion !

Storms newest Master line ball features the Centripetal HD core surrounded by the all new AI outer core and is wrapped in the TX-23 Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and my first thoughts when I threw the ball that it reminded me of the Zen Soul yet a stronger version of it. It’s a touch cleaner and the forward motion it makes off the end of the pattern is a little more defined than the Zen Soul. I can seem myself using this ball on a wide range of patterns because of the versatility of it. For being a strong symmetrical it could be the first ball out of my bag but it can also be the second or third ball out on those longer patterns or ones with more volume after the asymmetrical balls are starting to burn up.

The Summit Ascent features the R2S Solid cover wrapped around the Centripetal HD A.I. Core. I drilled mine 5 x 3, which is the say layout I have on my trusty Optimum Idol. After throwing this ball for awhile, it will be getting a lot of use because it is similar to the Optimum Idol but just the next step down in my bag so when the Idol is too much itll be time for the Summit Ascent. It is a also a good mixture of both the original Summit and Summit Peak and definitely fits in-between them even though it is a solid but because of the R2S it makes it a lot cleaner. I highly recommend the Summit Ascent for bowlers of all skill level.

The Summit Peak is the newest ball in the Master line, it has the Centripetal HD core that is wrapped around the TX-23 Pearl cover. This ball has an RG of 2.46 and diff of 0.056. I drilled mine 5 x 2 and after throwing this ball for while I was impressed with the motion it makes. It gets through the fronts with easy but still revs ups in the right spot with the lower RG. This is a ball I can see myself using on the fresh and early in blocks when the surface is older, because of the lower RG in the core and it wanting to rev up quick I can’t see myself using it when I have to open my angles up. Tournament players and lower rev players who are looking for a cleaner benchmark ball are going to love the new Summit Peak.

Storm Super Nova features the Ignition Core that was found in the Nova, RG 2.49, 0.052 Diff and PSA 0.019, and is wrapped around the NEX Solid cover and finished at 2000 grit. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 2 which is also the same way I drilled my Nova. I have thrown this ball a couple times now and I’ve been really impressed with the reaction of this ball. I first used it at the RPI Regional the last 3 games of qualifying and actually blended out the entire lane. Next time I threw it on the house shot and I was still super impressed because it didn’t burn up and plaque nor did it overreact when I got it to the dry super quick. This ball will be a very versatile piece in my bag because I will be able to use it after my Proton Physix on longer patterns and those medium length heavier volume patterns. To sum up this versatile ball, I would say a stronger Phaze 2 type of reaction.

Super SONiQ – 6 x 5 x 2.5

Storm really out did themselves with this one, they took the original core in the SONiQ and wrapped it around the cover stock used on the PhysiX. The Super SONiQ my first few shots in throwing this ball, I was amazed on how clean the ball was for being such a low RG. This ball will defiantly always be in my bag for any patterns under 42 ft because of how versatile it is, I have used it on the fresh and I have used it on the double burn at tournaments. This is a must for tournament bowlers !

The Road from Storm is the latest installment in the Thunder series line and is a slight remake of the legendary Hy Road. The Road features the Inverted FE2 core with AI tech and a hybrid version of REX. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and before I drilled this ball I was unsure about it because stronger cover Hy Road balls typically don’t really match up well for me but REX has been a great cover for me and after throwing this ball for awhile I am quite happy with it. It makes the same strong backend motion a Hy Road does but I would say the Road is a foot sooner and a few boards stronger overall. I can foresee this ball being a huge factor once the lanes transition and you need something cleaner through the fronts. I would say it is the strength of it is similar to a Zen Gold Label but the Road is WAY more backend. If you loved the original Hy Road and just want something a little stronger than I strongly suggest to get The Road!

Signature Lines ball have been a huge hit since the Timeless was introduced but now they have wrapped the in ultra popular R2S Pearl cover in the Piston Core and come up with the Trend. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and after throwing for awhile, I noticed that the Trend was a lot more angular than the Pro-Motion but it didn’t change direction as far down lane as the Hy Road Pearl. House bowlers and tournament bowlers who love the Pro-Motion because of the smoothness of it will absolutely love the Trends as it just gives it a little more angle on the backend and who doesn’t love more angle!

The newest collaboration with Jason Belmonte has us with a lower differential core and the NRG Hybrid cover. The Piston LD core has numbers of 2.54 for the RG and 0.041 for the differential. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3, which is also the same drilling that I have in my Trend. My first impresses of this ball is that it is very similar to the Trend as far as ball motion but after awhile I started to see the differences. The Trend 2 is a couple of boards stronger and actually more off the end of the pattern. The Trend was very smooth for a pearl and the Trend 2 picks up the lane sooner but is more in the back. I can see myself using the Trend 2 a little more than I did the Trend because of the stronger cover and the extra motion it gives me in the back part of the lane.

The newest Signature line ball brings us to a blast from the past. The Virtual Energy was a iconic ball from Storm and the new Virtual Gravity Blackout brings back to us the Shape Lock HD core. The Blackout has the recently popular REX pearl cover. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and WOW does this ball backend. I feel like the black color and Rex really blend well together going back with the Dark Code. The Blackout reminds me of a stronger version of the Dark Code but is a touch more mid lane than the Dark Code was. It almost reminds me of an blend of an Infinite Physix and Dark Code. I was really able to open up the lane with the Blackout and create a lot of down lane motion with it. I can defiantly see this ball being used on some beat up longer patterns and for anyone who wants to an asymmetrical ball with a lot of backend on house shot conditions.
