The Asylum is drilled pin below the bridge cg out with a hole down. I honestly did not know how I would feel about this ball and now its one of my new favorites out of the new releases. I am a big fan of the solid version of the Asylum called the disturbed and so so about the deranged but knowing my history of loving hybrids I should of known I would love this ball. The asylum gives me what a lot of hybrids do for me predictable back end and versatility. This one especially gives me a lot of mid lane read that no other hybrid it is category has given me which makes me love it more. I can use it on more higher volumes of oil and still able to use it when the lanes break down I just have to move right to play more oil but can still play to the break down and not over react.
Comparing to the disturbed and deranged the asylum fits right in the middle of the 2. Disturbed which is a solid is still the strongest then I can go down to the asylum which is about a 3 board difference then to the deranged that is pearl when the lanes are getting dry and need a ball to get down lane but still not make a sharp move on the back end and the deranged is another 3-4 board move from the aslyum. For Roto Grip this is my favorite new ball in the line up and for you hybrid fans that need a stronger ball for oil under your disturbed and even your defiant soul this is the one.

The Berserk is drilled pin under the bridge no hole. The Berserk out the box was stronger than I expected. If you have a nomad dagger and looking for a stronger hybrid in the roto grip line then the Berserk is your ball! Out the box with 4000 abralon I was getting an early read but did not get a strong roll down lane on the kegel main street pattern. I went into the shop and polish it a little bit with reacta shine and BOOM the ball was getting down lane a little more but with a much better finish to the pocket.

For your average bowler that bowls league and a day or 2 of practice each week this ball is awesome for that and more. The cover stock 65MH is very tunable to your desire need and with the caliber weight block which is also found in the popular bandit (pearl cover stock) makes a great combination of drive and hitting power. When there is more oil on the lanes there is no stopping this ball. Like other hybrids that are predictable and controllable this ball does the same but with more oil. You can’t get any better than that! Go BERSERK!

The Roto Grip Critical Theory is the strongest back end motion ball Roto Grip has in their ball line. I have it drilled pin up with the mass bias an inch away from the thumb to help control the strong motion it has. With the factory finish at 4000 abralon and using it on the kegel highway to hell pattern, I can get the ball clean through the front of the lane so it can have a strong finish on the back end. It reads the mid lane fast on the heavier pattern, but still has the drive after the pattern to put all 10 pins in the pit. I am very impressed with how it reads and how strong it is. I polished it over the 4000 abralon and it is even cleaner through the fronts, does not read the mid lane as fast and has a more angular back end motion which is great on a medium condition or even on a house pattern for the high speed or low rev bowlers.

I have a video on facebook and youtube! If you have any questions about the Critical Theory email me at [email protected].

I drilled the defiant with the pin above the bridge and the mass bias an inch away from my thumb. The ball gives me a clean read through the heads with an even back end reaction. The defiant is a great all around ball for many types of bowlers. It is not a big flip ball so you can get a lot of control and it does not lack on power on the back end for a even ball. I did not think the defiant was going to be stronger than the Virtual Gravity Nano, but once I compared the two I got about 4 to 5 boards more recovery with the Defiant which was really surprising. With the way the ball is designed it is driller friendly so you can use your favorite layout with no problem. The first night of league with the defiant I shot 747 with the factory surface on it. If you are looking for a ball that is an overall strong ball this is the one for you!

The Defiant Edge is drilled pin above fingers and Preferred Spin Axis (mass bias) about 1 inch away from the thumb. The Defiant Edge has a similar roll to the original Defiant meaning real controllable and a lot of different kind of style of bowlers can use it. When you are using the Defiant for 1 or 2 games and you start seeing the Defiant not finishing you can go to the Defiant Edge and gets through the heads much cleaner and has a strong back end motion. It doesn’t have that sharp back end angle that you see in a lot of other pearl cover stocks, it is a little smoother which gives me more control during transition. I went to Las Vegas for a megabucks tournament and the pattern was a 36 foot pattern with a big volume of oil in the heads and the Defiant Edge gave me the best look when usually strong balls tend to be too much down lane when this ball kept me in play and was not flying off the back ends like other balls in its category usually does. I was able play in my comfort zone from the start and just ball down from there. If you have a Defiant you will like the Defiant Edge.

The Hyper Cell is drilled pin above bridge and Preferred Spin Axis 1 inch away from the thumb with a weight hole down. With the success of the original Cell core and the success of the Defiant micro bite cover I knew this was going to be hit and it is. The Hyper Cell is great on higher volume of oil for when I need to stand a lil more right and play an inside shot and still have the motion on the back end to get to the pocket this ball works great for that. Comparing it to the Defiant the Hyper Cell gives me 3 to 5 more boards of overall ball reaction than the Defiant due to the weight block and having more back end motion also. I can see the weight block wanting to turn over when it gets down lane close to the dry and when it does get to the dry it makes a strong yet smooth motion. If you loved the Defiant and the Cell in the past then you will for sure love the Hyper Cell.

The Roto Grip Hyper Cell Skid has the pin next to the ring finger with the cg out and PSA under the thumb with a weight hole down to help it pick up in the mid lane with the surface at factory finish which is 1500 polish. Having the nucleus weight block that has been successful in the original cell and other cell balls it was a no brainer this one would be right up there with the other great cells. For myself game 1 out the box I shot 279 during a tournament so I had an idea that the Hyper Cell Skid would be a soon to be favorite. Hence the name Hyper Cell SKID is for sure has some skid to it but with A LOT of strong back end motion with the pearl cover stock but controllable which makes sense with the famous weight block. Comparing it to the Hyper Cell solid the solid version would be my first ball on heavy oil or a longer sport pattern then once the lanes break down then I can go to the Hyper Cell Skid and stay in the same area and get it down lane and have almost a flip look down lane.

Normally on a fresh house shot I don’t like to use strong pearl balls because they can be too much ball reaction but with the Hyper Cell Skid I figured to give it a try and see what it would do and surprised me on how well it handled a drier condition for what it is meant for. Going back to the 279 game that is how I shot it; it was on house shot game 1 fresh and I was able to use it the rest of the 4 game block since we moved lanes. During league it is also a house shot and I went back to back weeks with 700s one with a 788 and 746.

On kegel route 66 which at the time was the pattern we were on in sport league; I was shocked on how well I able to get some movement on that pattern with it being long and a good amount of oil. I would play really straight and direct around 9 or 10 board and let the ball’s back end motion get it to the pocket and not having to force it. I have never had a strong pearl on a longer pattern be able to do that. If you are looking for a strong pearl with great back end almost like “skid flip” then the Hyper Cell Skid is the one for you.

The Hysteria is by far one of my all time favorite symmetrical solid balls of all time and favorite solid from the Roto Grip line up. The Hysteria has the same RG and DIFF specs as another favorite the nomad dagger but in a solid cover and a new weight block design that gives this ball a strong back end for a solid cover. The pin is left of the ring ringer and cg straight down from the pin as if it was a “stacked” drilling (which pretty much is) with a low weight hole. With the covers surface at 1500 polished I get a great mid lane read getting through the fronts and strong back end. Some solids polished I don't get a good read but with this particular solid I get a great overall reaction that is predictable and strong. The Hysteria is a great compliment to the sinister another great ball from Roto Grip when the sinister starts to burn up and leave weak corners or come in soft to the pocket the Hysteria will save that energy and give it all to the pocket like a truck. So far the best pattern for me has been house shots or patterns like middle of the road. For a solid cover stock this is truly a great piece for the bag and for any nomad dagger fan this is gonna help the sadness go away if your nomad dagger has run its course and time to replace.

The Outcry is a hybrid of the underrated rumble and uproar that has got its popularity from Jason Belmonte using it in the PBA World Series. The pin is up and to the left of ring finger with the cg directly under the pin with a hole. The Outcry gives me a smooth overall reaction on medium oil. When the back ends start to get dry I get a stronger almost angular motion but with a little move to the right I can keep the back end smooth and still get to the pocket with the surface being sanding at 3000. The Outcry is a great ball for when your asylum or hysteria starts to hook too much and the outcry you can stand in the same spot and have smooth back end without it jumping off the spot.

I drilled an Outcry for a customer and polished the cover and still keeps the same shape as if it was dulled but with a little more length for the slower speed bowlers which this customer was or even high rev rate bowlers. The best condition I have used it on is only on a house shot at this point and can use it all 3 games if needed by playing up the boards around the 8 board and once that shot goes away I can move about 5 or so boards and bounce off the dry with a control back end motion. For the HP 2 line fans that have the uproar and rumble you can now have the hybrid you have been waiting for.

The Rumble is a great edition to the Roto Grip mid to low performance line up. With the solid cover stock and the new Late Roll 51 weight block it is the smoothest reaction ball in the HP2 line up. The Rumble has the pin drilled into the ring finger with the cg in and no hole. I am able to play straight up the boards which I usually cannot do with a solid but with it being a weaker (but still strong) solid than all the other solid balls I have it is very versatile, predictable and a smooth back end motion. Once the lanes open up and the outside line is starting to dry up and the Rumble starts to jump I am able to move more right to my A game and does not over read but keeps a good line until it gets to the back end and makes a smooth turn with a lot of power for a mid to low end solid. The Rumble is a great ball for someone who wants something smooth but not super strong at a lower price.

The Scream is drill pin above the middle finger, cg kicked out with no hole. I needed something for when the lanes get really dry and not have to make a drastic move and lose the pocket. It is not a ball that you can stand left throw right when there is a good amount of oil unless you are a high rev bowler or if it’s dry enough. The lanes at my main center have pretty dry outside boards which is around 7 board and out to the 1 board. When I get to the dry weather it is swinging to the dry or going up the boards it does not give me and up and down read. Really consistent read all around. I am able to play in my comfort zone or even go up the boards and the ball does not over react. Nice control motion and when it hits the back end it doesn’t jerk like other pearl balls it is much smoother.

I compared it with my tropical heat hybrid and rising star, and I am able to stand 6 boards left with the Scream compared to the tropical heat and rising star which is great when the lanes get toasted and everything else is hooking too early. I kept the factory finish on it which is 1500 polished. With this new low end line for Roto Grip it gives the Roto Grip fan a great low end ball for dry lanes or if you wanna play straighter for the down and in bowler for a great price.

The Roto Grip Sinister is drilled pin to the left side of ring finger and PSA (Preferred Spin Axis) directly under the thumb with 3000 abralon. The Sinister is by far the best heavy oil hybrid ball I have ever used. The Sinister is a great ball for when the hyper cell starts to lose it’s down lane motion and stay in the same spot with the Sinister and can get to the pocket with more back end.

So far the best patterns for me is kegel route 66 and any pattern around 40-42 feet. I can stand around 17 with my feet and hit around 8-9 at the arrows and the ball makes a great mid lane read and makes a turn to the pocket with good angle but predictable. The Sinister reminds me of the original hyroad when my other balls for that particular pattern or situation don’t work too well I can always pull the hyroad out and just seems to work. That is the same thing with the Sinister on heavy oil. When my other high performance balls tend to lay off I can pull the Sinister out and gets down the lane easier and makes a turn or if it comes in a little light it mixes the pins up really good to get a strike or get a break for not getting a split. I have not had a whole lot of success with some high end hybrids but this one is reconsidering my thoughts on them and will stay in my bag as long as I can.

The Totally Defiant is drilled pin above the ring finger cg out and preferred spin axis (mass bias) is 2 inches away from the thumb. I must say I knew it would be a skid-flip kind of ball but it performs way more than I ever expected with the paragon and the pure pearl cover stock without the micro bite technology.

With the pure pearl cover compared to the pearl micro bite cover from the defiant edge I get more down lane recovery and a cleaner push in the heads. I am able to stand more right than I could with the Defiant edge, watch the ball rev up and once it hits the dry it would make a strong sharp right turn to the pocket. Even on the longer and higher volume patterns like the PBA shark I can stand left and it makes a small turn down lane to the pocket but more than I ever had with a strong pearl ball on a long pattern like the shark. With other pearls on the shark I am not usually able to see a motion on the back end but with the Totally Defiant I am able to get a read and see the movement to the pocket

I used it for the first time at a tournament called the triangle where you bowl at 3 different houses, 3 games at each center in 1 day! First bowling center with synthetic lanes I used it game 2 and 3 when I needed something that got down lane with a strong back end because the reaction was so define if you did not have something strong that would get to the pocket down lane and not something that started early you were not gonna have a good set. The next time I used the ball at the triangle was at the last bowling center with fairly new synthetic lanes the last game. I was still in the hunt to cash and needed a big game. I brought it out to give me recovery when my other stuff wasn't getting to the pocket to my liking. The Totally Defiant gave me the read I needed which was long and strong and shot 278 to make cash by 8 pins. For the Roto Grip fans out there here is a great skid-flip strong pearl for your arsenal!

The Uproar is drilled 1 ½ inch down from ring finger and cg out with a weight hole down with 3000 abralon. When I first rolled it shined up it was a little too long for me and not much down lane motion, but once I put surface on it the ball came to life but still had the same motion as far as the length when it was polished but an earlier read in the mid lane and smoother transition down lane.
I use the uproar when the lanes break down usually after a fresh house shot pattern. When its on more of a fresh pattern I have to stand left and go up the boards until the transition hits then I can move more right. Right now the uproar has been a popular ball for the bowlers who need length with a more controlled back end and not much snap. For a medium to dry lane ball this ball hits like a truck! Great job Roto Grip once again!

The Byte is going to be the next great strong pearl ball behind the Anarchy and Virtual Gravity Nano pearl. Storm is always generating new and innovative balls with different motions besides skid-flip, which is what they are known for, but now they went back to the Storm roots and brought out another great skid flip pearl ball! My favorite strong pearl skid-flip was the Anarchy and did not find anything else that was similar to that for a while bu when the Byte came out I believed this was going to be one to replace my old faithful Anarchy.
I drilled the Byte the same as the Anarchy which is pin down, cg out with a hole 1 ½ inches down from my PAP. Only thing I was sceptic about was the weight block which is the G2 core from the Sync which is the solid version of the Byte. After reading the specs on it the weight block is now G2+ which means it is the same block shape BUT the density in the block is lighter which means it is still strong but does not give you the early roll but a longer yet stronger move between the tweaked weight block and the NRG cover stock which is from the Lucid or as me and my friends call it “Lucy”. I drilled the Byte pin down for when I am in the oil and don't want it to get down too long due to my higher ball speed. I still get a clean read through the heads with a strong yet consistent read in the mid lane with a power punch turn on the back end. For a strong pearl it is versatile even for me, because usually strong pearls would give me an inconsistent read on anything less than a high oil volume lane, I am able to use it on most medium conditions.
Storm fans another great high end pearl ball is out and a lot of people who I drilled one up for love it and you will too! Go to your local pro shop and pick up one!

The Crossroad is drilled pin down with the cg out a little bit with no hole. I wanted to compare it with my hyroad since it has the same cover but a different weight block and the Crossroad is a lot smoother overall than the hyroad. When the back ends are crisps and I need something smooth down lane and doesn’t jump off the spot the Crossroad is the way to go. I can also play pretty straight with the Crossroad and it won’t jump off the dry like the hyroad does. For sure a controllable ball for its kind. If you have the Victory Road solid or Victory Road pearl or both you should get the Crossroad and it complements the other 2 Victory Roads perfectly. Three different looks for Three Victory Roads.

Storm Crux for me is one of the most angular asymmetrical storm ball I have ever thrown. The pin is left of the ring finger and PSA (Preferred Spin Axis) is under the thumb with a low weight hole. With the popular ERG cover from the lucid and turned into a solid for the Crux it is for sure a ball for the sport pattern bowler! Crux gives you length yet for a solid cover it has a strong back end motion that I have not seen before of its kind for a solid.

One of my favorite surfaces on any ball is 3000 abralon so for me the out of the box surface was perfect to match with my game. Currently I am bowling in a sport league where we switch oil patterns every 4 weeks or so to get more time on many different patterns and the Crux I have not found a pattern yet that it will not work on weather it is on the fresh or game 2. So far the patterns have been 39 feet or longer and is one of the go to balls I use on oil. When the other balls don't come back strong enough I can use the Crux that will give me more down lane motions when the oil pattern is so demanding. So far my favorite pattern for this ball is kegel middle of the road with the many different lines you can play on this pattern I can pretty mcuh stay with the Crux all 3 games and just make my feet and eye adjustments when needed. For someone who uses the Crux and notices the ball is too strong you can always polish the cover and the Crux will give you the same down lane reaction on back end but with more control due to getting down lane better if the heads are a little burnt. If you Love the ERG cover technology this is for sure a ball you wanna have in your arsenal for heavy oil.

The Storm Crux Pearl has the pin left of ring finger with the cg slighty out and the the PSA (Preferred Spin Axis) under the thumb. When I first started rolling the Crux pearl I noticed it was going a little too long for me with my speed so I slightly scuffed it with 3000 just to give it some teeth and read sooner but still keep the motion on the back end. Once I put the surface on it the ball came to life and was able to roll it on more patterns than it was polished. For it being a pearl and a Storm ball it is fairly even which I like since I have others that give me the more flip look.

On a house shot I have not had too much luck but on a similar length of a house shot around 40-41 and higher volume of oil that’s where the magic happens. I am able to use the Crux pearl more down and in standing around 17 and hitting 8-9 at the arrows and not making such a defined turn but a mellow turn but still continues through the pins. On those types of patterns with my speed I can’t swing it a lot which is fine but it complements the original Crux well when you need a ball to get through the fronts and get to the pocket with more energy.

The Fire Road is another “road” ball that stays in my bag. It has the original Virtual Gravity technology cover stock with the Victory Road. With those 2 combinations it gives me a clean strong rolling ball for a night of league on a house shot. Compared to the Victory Road pearl the Fire Road is a stronger overall ball. The Fire Road seems to handle more oil than the Victory Road pearl can but it’s a good combo. I have about 3 to 4 more boards with the Fire Road than the Victory Road pearl. If you have both of them you can start off with the Fire Road on a fresh house shot pattern or even the medium to shorter sport patterns, then when it starts to check up early you can switch over to the Victory Road pearl. Another great “road” ball in the line with great colors on the cover stock. Almost every road ball has stayed in my bag and has given me a lot of versatility when needed. Great medium oil pearl ball!

The Frantic is a great ball for when the lanes start to dry up. If you have a Hyroad or even a Roto Grip Nomad Dagger which is another hybrid the Frantic will be a great transition ball after your Hyroad or Dagger starts to hook too soon. With the awesome color scheme it looks cool going down lane and everyone ask me during league “what kind of ball is that?!?...that is a cool color looking ball!” You cannot miss this ball on the lanes. I am a big fan of the mid to low performance hybrid balls and anyone else who is a hybrid fan you for sure need the Frantic in your bag!

I drilled the Fringe to be pretty strong down lane for a mid to low performance ball. It’s a ball when your frantic or your road line balls are hooking too much then you can go to the fringe to give you more length but still have a strong back end. It is a great ball for the newbie bowlers that wants something strong but not spend a whole lot of money. I use the Fringe when it’s a basic house shot and the back ends are clean or if it is the viper and cheetah patterns. With the drilling pattern I have on it I am surprised on how fast it revs up and response down lane. I always carry more mid to low performance balls because they are strong for its kind on a day to day basis for bowling. Great ball! A must to put in the bag!

The Hyroad Pearl I have drilled pin under the ring finger with the cg in with no hole with the factory finish 1500 grit polish. With (once again) my favorite cover stock the R2S technology and the great Inverted Fe² Technology™ that is from my first pin down ball I have ever drilled the T-Road pearl that this was going to bring back great memories.

Lets see...How do I start this review up and not be so emotional and give you good info about it because I just didn't see this coming and I love that Storm did this and kept the original Hyroad in the line up also.....For people who know me I have always loved the Hyroad and forever will. I keep a Hyroad in my at all times because it gets me out of jams when other balls couldn't. I have gone through many Hyroads and none of them have let me down and could use it for THOUSANDS of games! That is how I feel with the new Hyroad Pearl. The Hyroad Pearl reminds me of the T-Road pearl with the same cover stock and weight block technology with the only difference is the color and the name.

The Hyroad gives me a great mid lane read with a predictable back end that is controllable and when the Hyroad starts to hook too much or not enough with the heads being burnt I go to the Hyroad Pearl that is cleaner through the fronts and gives me a strong BUT controllable back end. It does not have the whipping back end action like a typical pearl for me but that is what I like about it which I believe the change in color pigmentation comes into play unlike with the T-Road Pearl being a blue color it had more of an angular look. I am able to read what the lanes are doing on the back end with the Hyroad Pearl and can stay in the same part of the lane and not give the pocket away. All and all the Hyroad Pearl is going to be another great ball Storm is putting out and hopefully this ball will also stay in the line up for 5 years or more. If you want to replace your T-Road pearl that I know many people still use or a great new/old technology that still works for medium condition or your typical house shot pattern this is the ball for you. For the T-Road Pearl users don't be afraid for replace it with the Hyroad Pearl. You will be very happy with it.

The Invasion is more than what I thought it was going to be. It is a really strong ball. I threw a test ball at a open house where you can try storm bowling balls before you buy and when I threw it I was in shock on how strong it is midlane wise compared to the Virtual Gravity. I threw my Virtual Gravity and it goes much longer before it made a move down lane so I know when I need a ball to start earlier it is going to be the Invasion. The 4 x 3 ½ x 1 has the pin under the ring finger with the cg kicked out a little bit and mass bias about 1 ½ inches away from the thumb and no weight hole. I have it set up to where it will start up early and have a smoother arc motion in the backend but still finishes so its more controllable.

I bowled on a pattern called the Lexington pattern that was around 40 or 42 feet and the outsides were not really playable but with the Invasion I can play outside and it went longer but when it hit the dry down lane it took a right turn and 10 pins in the pit and. Once the outsides were burning up I just moved 5 boards right and play the same line.

I have a picture of my Invasion drilled in my photo album on myspace! If you have any questions about the Invasion email me at [email protected].

The !Q is drilled with the pin above the fingers above the bridge with no hole. With the factory 4000 abralon finish it is clean through the heads with a early read in the mid lane and a smooth continuous motion to the pocket and hits the pins HARD. I was really surprised how clean I was able to get it through the front for me with the 4000 and the PFT™ - Progressive Friction Technology Solid cover stock compared to the marvel solid which I had to have more oil for to get the right reaction.
The !Q is a great medium to heavy oil ball for people who bowl tournaments or bowl in leagues where the conditions are a little more challenging than your typical house shot. The !Q is versatile for different types of bowlers and lane play. The best patterns that worked best for me with the !Q is medium to longer patterns. On the medium patterns I am able to stand in my comfort zone which is the 23 board and swing it out to the 9-10 board at the breakpoint; and have a nice smooth back end motion which is controllable and does not have a sharp angle down lane. For the longer patterns I can play straighter which would be standing around the 10 and going up 6-7 board. You can play a tighter line on longer patterns with the !Q but can’t give it too much speed or its going to drive past the breakpoint from what I have noticed. As long as you are soft at the bottom when playing a tighter line it is a MONSTER!

The !Q Tour Fusion is drill pin below the ring finger cg out with a hole down. A lot of people know the success of the 2 !Q Tours before this one and this one is right in line with those. Combining the tour solid and tour pearl which we call goldie and the successful centripetal weight block you have best of both worlds. You get the length of the pearl but earlier read like the solid and the controlled back end of both.
I am able to play a more deeper line if needed with the fusion and see it come back strong than the other 2. Roughly about 2-3 more boards right than the solid due to the strength of the back end and 5-6 more boards right than the pearl which was amazing to see. You can literally have a nice 3 ball arsenal for league with just the 3. Tour solid for the fresh, fusion for transition, and tour pearl when it breaks down and you need a smooth blend motion down lane. With the ball out the box finish of 1500 polished I get more back end than the other 2 !Qs by far so I tried it with 3000 abralon and didn't give me as much length which I like and more control on the back end and not as flippy but still have the drive to get through the pins. Anyone who has the first 2 !Q tours you should definitely pick up the fusion. Great ball for medium conditions for your everyday league bowler and tournament players.

I drilled my !Q Tour pearl pin above my ring finger with the cg out with a very small hole about 1 ½ inches down from my midline. For a pearl cover it is super smooth and controllable like I have never seen before. The !Q Tour pearl is very predictable and you know when the ball is going to make a move and when you have to move when the lanes transition. The first time I used it at a tournament which was basically a house shot but modified a little bit with a little more oil outside the 10 board. I played up the boards and let the oil take it and once it hit the back ends it does not jump hard it makes a nice smooth roll to the pocket, hits hard and mixes the pin ups as if it was a big asymmetrical weight block ball. I bowled 2 squads and shot back to back 279s on game 1 of each squad and avg a little over 240.

Compared to the !Q Tour solid, which is drilled the same as the pearl, the pearl it gets down lane and can be used more on a burn pattern once the solid tour starts to hook too much or gives you up and down reaction. Depending on the pattern I am about 5 to 6 more boards left (being left handed) with the pearl than the solid which is good because I can play more of my comfort zone and once it dries up even more I can just move right and still be around the pocket and not giving it away too much and having to worry about corner pins. If you love the !Q Tour solid then I recommend you get the !Q Tour pearl! You won’t go wrong!

The Lights Out I have drilled up is pin over the ring finger with the cg in with no hole with the factory finish 1500 grit polish. With my favorite cover stock the R2S and hybrid that is from my all time favorite ball the Hyroad I knew this was going to be a match made in heaven.

I compared the Lights Out with the tropical heat hybrid and I had to move my feet right and it ends up being 4 boards stronger than the tropical heat for a LOW END BALL! When I tried to go straighter to play a more up the boards look the ball kept going through the nose and made me move right. I have always been a believer of using a mid to low performance ball and having a lot of hook potential on an everyday basis. A lot of people think with a LOW END ball like this it would not be a strong ball with no hitting power and BLAH BLAH BLAH, don't let this ball or any LOW END Storm ball fool you. You will be highly surprised on it's performance.

With the R2S cover the Lights Out is angular down lane for a hybrid than any other hybrid I have thrown. I can stay in the same spot of the lane that I was with the previous ball when the lanes start to break down. For people who have the Tropical Heat Hybrid and wanna get a fresh ball to replace the Tropical Heat Hybrid you can go with the Lights Out and see more motion down lane.

The Lucid is probably the STRONGEST pearl ball I have ever thrown. This is a pearl version of the Vivid without the nano technology in the cover stock. I have the pin high above the fingers with the PSA (Preferred Spin Axis) a little over 2 ½ inches away from thumb with reacta shine polish over the factory 4000 finish. With this layout, which is a fairly weaker drilling and the balls strength out of the box it gives me the strength of the balls potential without losing the balls strength by using too strong of a layout. I get through the fronts clean, read the mid lane strong and watching the ball rev up towards the pocket is amazing.

You can see all 3 phases of what a ball does; skid, hook, roll and it is defined clear as day. I have never seen a ball rev up that fast and hit the pocket as hard as it does with any other Storm or Roto Grip ball. Everyone that saw me roll it for the first time said the same; just couldn’t believe how strong it is and how hard it hits. I compared this with my Storm Anarchy and Roto Grip Critical Theory which are both pearls and the Lucid was stronger by 5 boards with the Anarchy and 4 to 5 boards with the Critical Theory.

I used it in league for the first time on one of the kegel challenge series patterns and shot 289 with a 754 series for 3 and 966 for 4. This is going to be a big seller for sure!

I drilled the Manic the same way as my fringe which is a strong drilling. This ball will be more for medium condition but smoother down lane. If you plan on getting the Fringe then I suggest getting the Manic. They both complement each other well! You can start off with the Manic that has an early roll for the oil but smooth and continuous down lane and once the lanes dry up you can go to the Fringe to get you cleaner through the heads and have a strong angular back end. For a typical league night it would be a great ball out the bag. When you need a ball to control the back end and not be too angular on the shorter sport patterns the Manic will do the job! I think I may have found my new benchmark ball for league and I think for you it will do the same!

The Marvel pearl really impressed me on how strong the back end motion and the recovery that it has for a mid-high performance ball. I have drilled it pin under with the cg kicked out a little with no hole to have more control and consistent reaction. The pearl cover stock version of the best selling ball in the market the Virtual Gravity gives the ball a strong performance but stays clean through the heads. The centripetal core from the Prodigy and Marvel solid it gives a consistent motion down lane and packs a punch in the pocket. It is a good ball for medium condition on a fresh league night.

The Marvel S I have drilled pin above the ring finger with the cg in and no hole on the side with 3000 abralon. At the beginning I was a little skeptic about the ball only because it has a strong cover the NRG that is from the Virtual Gravity Nano and now the Sync in which I thought would be too strong but boy was I wrong. The Marvel S is by far the strongest ball in the current master line but not overly strong to where you cannot use it as often. Yes it does have the NRG solid cover that is currently the strongest cover in the storm line up but with the centripetal weight block that is very popular from the Marvel Pearl and !Q tours it gives you more control but still packs a punch down lane.

When I first started to roll the Marvel S I was very surprised on how much back end motion it has for a solid cover stock ball in the Marvel line up. The original Marvel was more even which is what I typically see in solids of this kind but with the upgraded cover; when it sees friction down lane it makes a strong turn to the pocket which is also what I see in the Sync which is the big daddy of the storm line up.

I went to Las Vegas for TAT (True Amateur Tournament) and used the Marvel S about 95% of the time and it got me into the finals. It was a 37 foot pattern something close to maybe the PBA Viper with a little bump outside if you played it right. The best look I had was outside around the 6 board straight up which still today it shocks me I was able to use it from the fresh to even on the break down and usually I cannot do that with this type of ball. When my other equipment would give me over under or fade down lane I was able to switch back up to the Marvel S (strongest ball in my bag that I brought) and it was smooth all the way down lane and was not jumpy at all with the 3000 abralon by hand compared to the 3000 out the factory. This is a great compliment to the Marvel Pearl when the lanes have more oil or for the people who have high ball speed for more medium condition you will have no problem using this ball.

The Modern Marvel I drilled up is pin above my ring finger and cg is a little past my midline palm. I am a big fan of mid to low performance hybrids and this ball does not disappoint me at all. With the cover stock being part solid and part pearl I am able to play different parts of the lane and changing my hand position I can get the ball to come back from different angles. The Modern Marvel is right in between the other 2 marvels; not too early rolling and even like the Marvel solid and does not go as long as the Marvel Pearl. The Modern Marvel is one of those balls when you just need a little variance with your ball reaction between the other 2 marvels. It is smooth down lane but has a little angle on the back end which is able for you to have a little room if you do miss your target.

Storm Ride is pin under the ring finger with the cg in and no hole with the factory finish at of 1500 polish. The Ride is a great gap filler ball that actually quite a few people in my area and pro shop have asked for. When you have a lights out, punch out or wipe out and it hooks too much at times then you go down to a tropical breeze or pitch black and it is not enough, the Ride fits in between so when you need that step down or step up.

With me being left handed and in my area I do not see a whole lot of dry but at the times I do I am able play more of a up the boards shot around the 8 9 board it does not make a strong move on the back end which gives me great control. When I go inside around 15 or 3rd arrow and swing it the Ride tends to fade and not have a lot of recovery which is fine with me because when it gets really dry I can play 15 if needed or usually play up the 10 board but I like to play a straighter line for more control and consistency.

All in a nutshell the Ride is great for dry lanes and to fill those really small gaps to give you just enough length and not over hook on the dry for the medium to dry lane performance balls.

The Storm Rocket to me is almost revolutionary with the technology of now having a modern day weight block compared to its big brother Hyroad that is what I call a core block. The motion I get from the Rocket with the R2S hybrid cover stock and the booster core is unbelievable. In the thunder line with my all-time favorite the orginal Hyroad I have never had this kind of a motion before especially with it being a hybrid. The motion I get with the Rocket length with almost like a snap motion but with more control. For me usually when a ball snaps or skid flips it would be a defined turn down lane; the Rocket gives me that but with a little more smoothness to it which compliments my stronger skid flip look balls great. The pin is directly left of my ring finger and the cg straight down almost like a stacked drilling with no hole and factory finish of 1500 polished.

The best condition I have used it on and had much success with it would be on a medium condition pretty much a house shot at my bowling center. I have not used it much on a more challenging pattern but the time that I did it was not enough which was fine since I mainly wanted it for house conditions. Besides my Hyroad, the Rocket is also one of the balls I can go with using all 3 games in league and just have to move my feet a little depending on break down but I can stay in this ball for a long time like as if it was my Hyroad. The Rocket is great when I need a more back end motion if the original Hyroad starts to flatten out.

Rolling the Rocket and the Hyroad you can drastically see the difference on the motion with the same R2S cover stock and two completely different blocks. I have learned a lot more about weight block technology rolling the two between a more old school block technology that gives more continuation and not so much jerk off the spot down lane which still works great in todays game to a modernized weight block that gives you more forgiveness and room when you miss that competes with any other ball out there. I hate to say it but for the people who know that I love the Hyroad and speak highly of it, the Rocket maybe the next Hyroad for me in the near future.

The Victory Road solid is a great compliment to the Victory Road pearl. The solid is more for medium to some heavy oil. I have drilled it pin above my ring finger with the cg kicked out a little with no hole. It gives me good length so it does not jump at the mid lane but still has a strong even motion on the back end. I went to Las Vegas to TAT (True Amateur Tournament) and used it on one of the squads and it gave me a consistent read for all 3 games I just had to move my feet and eyes but was able to use it the whole time. The new surface 3000 abralon helps give me the strong motion like a 2000 abralon or lower but gets through the fronts clean like a 4000. Smooth, even, but strong finishing ball. If you have or had a T-Road solid before this is pretty close to it. It is a great ball for tournaments.
If you have a Victory Road pearl and you need a ball for more oil than the Victory Road solid is the one. Once the solid starts to burn up or hook way too much then jump down the pearl version and you can stay in the zone.

I have a video on facebook and youtube! If you have any questions about the Victory Road solid email me at [email protected].

The Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl I have drilled has the pin above my middle finger and PSA (preferred spin axis) is about 1 inch away from my thumb so I can have more control of the ball for the down lane motion. Usually when I drilled up a strong pearlized ball I drill it to its potential, but with this one I wanted to have more control overall and use it for a typical night of league and it does the job! You can drill it for control or strong and still have a strong finish down lane and the pins will be in the pit! If you are looking for a ball to compliment you nano solid or replace you anarchy this is the ball to get. Great back end motion and really clean through the heads. First night with it on a typical house shot pattern on my league night I average 230 with it and used it for 2 ¾ games which is really good for an asymmetrical ball for me. Normally it is going to be 1 to 1 ½ games if I’m lucky for a ball like this. Great ball! The Virtual Gravity series has done it AGAIN! BOWL UP A STORM!

I have a video on youtube and a picture of my ball and the layout on facebook. If you have any questions about the Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl email me at [email protected].

I drilled the Vivid with the pin up really high above my ring finger. Drilling the Vivid in a weaker state and keeping it strong was a total surprise! I could not believe how strong the Vivid is. It has the Virtual Gravity Nano cover but with a new weight block. I have not seen a ball that goes through the pins with so much power and keeps driving through the pin deck like it does. This is probably the earliest reading ball I have seen from storm. I have rolled it on many different sport patterns and the Vivid made it look like a house shot. It for sure likes oil. It is not a ball that goes down long with a strong snappy backend. This ball is really smooth and controllable. It for sure fits in between the 2 nanos. If u want something smooth for oil this is the ball for you.

The Zero Gravity is drilled pin above the ring and preferred spin axis is 2 inches away from the thumb. The Zero Gravity is really unique for being a strong asymmetrical with a low density weight block that has never been done on an asymmetrical ball before. I call it a !Q tour solid on steroids. Similar shape to the !Q tour solid which is smooth, controllable, predictable just stronger for more oil and more back end motion. The Zero Gravity for me works great for shorter patterns, house shots, or when the lanes tend to get over under reaction and you need a ball that is going to blend the lanes.
For house shots I usually can't use strong bowling balls for too long, maybe for about a game or maybe 2 depending on the lanes. With the Zero Gravity I can stay in the same area just move my feet maybe 2 boards and aim for the same mark and can use it for 2 almost 3 GAMES! On the short patterns I am able to stay left and go up the boards and get away with giving it too much room to the 1 2 board and still watch it come back smooth to the pocket. For the high rev bowlers that wanna stay in a ball that gives them a great look and pounds the pocket game 1 and wanna use it for even game 2 maybe 3, this is the ball for you.
