This is a good choice for drier lane conditions, but not quite as good for a wet dry situation. The ball (for me) goes a bit too long when trying to take it through the oil to the dry. It just doesn't have enough teeth. I have drilled mine 60 x 4 1/2 x 30 pin above ring finger. I feel that if you want to use it on the fresh and keep the ball in front of you then that is going to be an option. I also knocked off the factory polish with a 3000 pad and then put polish back and that helped smooth out the over under.

Tremendous control pearl. This is very clean and when it encounters friction doesn't jump off the spot. I hit mine with a 3000 pad and polish back as the Eon had a tendency to go to long. I drilled it 70 x 4 x 10 and have been using this on medium sport/league shots. This is excellent when the pattern is broke down, basically a 2nd game ball. This takes surface adjustments very well.

Nice rolling ball great as long as the back ends are fairly clean. Specs 14 3 with 3.25 top weight and pin above middle looking for late hook. I have been trying to find a different motion for the burnt up heads Looking for a little more length and not as much skid/flip time will tell if it will conquer the heads. The only drawback is that the cover stocks with this particular ball do seem to attract gouges and that goes with the territory.

I was looking for something that would get through the front part once the lanes started to transition. I drilled it pretty much standard for a house shot 4x4 by 2 with a balance hole. I have mid speed 16 mph and my revs right around 350. What I needed was something that wasn't going to jump of the spot. So far so good I did play with the surface and I hit it with a 2000 abralon pad sanded it by hand and that smoothed out the reaction. On the second shift first 3 games 179, 257, 258. The 179 games featured 3 opens,(need to make spares) but this ball gets through the heads and isn't jumpy in the mid lane which I had been struggling with. I hadn't bowled in a league since 1979-1980 or tournaments since 1977-1978 so imagine someone who last seen the lanes with a white dot or yellow dot. I am in contact with some of the older senior tour bowlers and they have been helping me on pattern shapes and I have been surprised at how some balls over react to friction while this Melee Jab seems to get through the heads and reads the mid lanes and then makes a great move to the pocket.I will have to learn to make spares again, but this Melee Jab when the lanes break down has a great read and stores its power for the end. The read in the mid lane which I believe for any bowler is king and I start seeing rev up in the mid lane and then it makes the move to the pocket. I have mine weighing at 14 pounds 12 ounces and realize that weight is about perfect for me. I might consider another with pin down . I have been using this on broken down lanes and hope to use it possibly shorter patterns.

One of the best in restoring to a shiny finish. It has enough grit to remove the belt marks and small nicks.

Has its Place. I was hoping for a ball that would clear the heads and give me a decent mid lane read. Unless I move deep inside 4th to 5th arrow or if I take my hand out of the ball and try to play straight or close to the track area. This ball fights the over under wet dry and I was hoping it would fit that niche. I may try and play with the surface and see if I can't get a more consistent reaction, but as of now no dice.

60 X 5 X 40 Pin Up Great ball goes long and comes off the spot with a consistent predictable motion. I can pretty much use this right from the start on a medium sport or house shot.

I just bowled 3 games out of the box with this. It rolls like a beast. Excellent mid lane read and nice angular break, quite controllable. 225,211,225 with 5 opens. My fault sloppy on spares. I played basically in the track area the first two games and then moved inside to the 4th arrow swinging to the friction. The drilling on this was pin down PAP 4 1/2 right with a balance hole. What I was looking for was control. I have plenty of hand and medium speed. So we went with Hammers Asymmetrical layout # 3 for a medium track. The score doesn't indicate how well the ball performed. Two solid 8 pins two solid 7 pins. Hey no 9 pin. I also increased in weight to 15 pounds 3 ounces before drilling and a 3 1/2 pin. This is a winner.

I bought this ball for extremely dry burnt out shots and really didn't find it helpful. However for shooting the 10 pin and single pins this has worked out better than the plastic ball. With so many choices for weaker pearls and solids most urethane balls should be left at home.

Used the basic Hammer Drilling Layout # 2 with pin below my ring finger. This compliments my Cherry Vibe. I found by taking the shine off the ball with a 2000 pad and then coming back with polish this really smoothed out and gave me a more rounded look. I think these are great fr keeping the lane a little more in front of you. With so many houses using less and less oil the Vibes should be a welcomed ball to any bag.

I took quite some time to review this ball, but I wanted to be completely fair when considering the proper use of this ball. This is not designed for a heavy oil shot or in my opinion a shot where length is involved. I have been using this (pin down) on short sport shots and burnt out house shots. I just took it to a sport shot tournament and averaged 230 with it. This totally surprised me that it came off the spot with a predictable and controlled arc. This is a real sleeper and I really wasn't going to use this, but I had a couple of other balls ready for this shot and in warming up they looked awful. So I had 4 warm balls and struck with 3 of them so it stayed and will stay in the bag. Very easy to read and the over under not a huge issue plus this cover stock hits like a truck.

This is the second Motiv ball that I have bought and I bought this ball to compliment the Venom Shock. This ball I changed up the lay out by putting the pin in for the lay out. What I was looking for was a ball that would roll a bit more especially when the heads start getting chewed up. I am rev dominant and the speed is critical for me as my axis tilt and revs can put some of the pearls hooking way too much. I recently went down to 14 pounds so I am hoping not to lose the hitting power and so far this ball has been a consistent performer for the 2nd or 3rd game for a late night house shot. I did hit it with a 2000 pad and that was needed (in my case) to help smooth the reaction and to control the break point. I am hesitant to give it 5 stars because I just don't know if the reaction is going to be a consistent calm break which is what I am looking for. So time will tell if this is the heavy rolling ball I have been looking for.

Fantastic ball for a later league shot or when the lanes are on the light to medium side. I have a pretty tame drilling pretty much a Rico style and was looking for a ball that would go longer and make a subtle move on the back end. I took a long time in reviewing this ball and found for me that hitting with a 2000 grit pad helped in getting the ball into a early roll and helped for the over under shot. The Shock was also pretty decent in the shorter oil sports shots , but as far as heavier oil shots or the first ball out on a fresh house shot it just didn't pick up.

I have other supports mostly for little support, but felt I needed to have something that would get into the forearm. If the quality is like the other Robby's this will be a great addition.

I bowled a few professional events back in the 70's. The plastic ball never gave the reaction that any of the resin balls have period. I was able to swing this ball the dry part of the lane and bring it back. I could also play it in the track line and allowed for some movement. Drilled it with pin down and a short fingertip. 16 strikes in 3 games. I will need a spare ball. Still have decent ball speed and will look for a stronger more aggressive ball next time. This is an excellent ball for medium to slightly dry lanes. It is like playing bumper bowling even though I have 8 games played in 30 plus years. If you are looking for a medium flare pretty clean through the heads and a nice continuous movement take a look at this ball.

This unit does the job. As some of the other reviewers have noted it is imperative to keep an eye on the temperature settings. I too have had to set mine at the full temperature to achieve 140 degrees. I have used mine for over 4 years and absolutely no issues.

This is a ball that has a predictable roll. It isn't as strong as some of the other Storm products. I bowl on a house pattern that is 41 feet long and quite a bit of oil near the middle typical house shot just kicked up a little bit. I drilled it with the pin just above the finger and a balance hole to reduce the flare. The overall hook for me is less than the Storm Optimus pearl which I have drilled pretty much the same. The motion is cleaner through the heads and the mid lane roll is stable and the move through the back is strong and continuous. I hit mine with a 2000 pad and put polish back which gave me less overall hook. My stats are 375 revs with 15 mph so the solids don't usually get much play for me. This one will however because it isn't jumping off the pattern and in my opinion I think because of the huge weight block that will help in giving me the shape that I need when the lanes break down. It won't be the first ball out of my bag , but will be a big factor because this ball is very good when the lanes are starting to break down. I can't give it a five I haven't thrown it on anything but a house shot.

I took a long time to review this ball nearly a year because I hadn't bowled in competition for a plus 30 years. This is one of the best balls for playing a variety of patterns. I drilled mine 5x4x3 and a balance hole to reduce the flare. It tips the scale right at 14 lbs 6 ounces. I have hit it with a 1000 abralon pad and Storm reacta polish after the sanding. I found it smoothed out the reaction and made it more predictable. I am still learning where and how far inside this ball can go and it can handle the oil from the 4th and 5th arrows. I have mid ball speed 16 and decent revs 350 so I am learning to play more inside and finding that this ball does a great job of reading the mid lane. Thanks to the Storm rep for helping me in setting the ball up.

Fantastic ball for a medium heavy oil shot. I have this with some polish on it and use it primarily early for the house shot or for a medium sport shot. Pin Up 60 X 4 1/2 X 30. This takes surface changes well.

Surprised to say the least I have moderate speed 16 mph and I have bowled less than 50 games in 30 years. This ball moves from the dry to the wet. I have basically played it just inside the track and used it when the lanes are starting to dry up. I drilled it pin up and had it drilled with a typical Storm pattern 4x4x2 and it gave me decent length. I couldn't take it to the 4th arrow and play deep. I don't think it was designed to play inside. I have kept it 15 to 7 and when the lanes are transitioning it responds fairly well. I may drill one more of these and go pin down to see if it will give me more depth.
