A X-Comp bowling ball from SPI Bowling Products (Storm, Roto Grip, and 900 Global) will have an X stamped by the serial number.  X-Comps generally have a cosmetic blemish.  The Pin (Core Top) distance is in the 2-4" only range and Top Weight 2-4oz. range.  The reaction of the bowling ball will be the same as the first-quality ball.

Long ago, in a bowling alley far beyond the stars, the sport faced a galactic shift in lane conditions. Oil patterns grew wild and varied, challenging bowlers everywhere. Some lanes turned slick and treacherous, but most shifted to shorter, lighter oil, ramping up friction across the galaxy.

Back then, we crafted bowling balls designed to glide through the fronts, tackling those high-friction surfaces and lanes to support bowlers in this cosmic struggle. But recently, a new distress call rang out across the bowling universe—pleas for a ball with fierce traction and asymmetric force to conquer the heavy, lengthy oil patterns now dominating the lanes.

Our R&D Squadron jumped into action, launching their efforts into HYPERDRIVE to meet the needs of both competitive and skilled bowlers. After scanning our lineup of asymmetric balls, they pinpointed a gap: we needed a bolder core wrapped in our grippy MicroTrax coverstock.

Through this starry-eyed analysis, they chose the RST (Roto Star Tour) block as the perfect fit for our A.I. Core tech. This unique, dense asymmetric design, paired with A.I. Core, unleashed rapid spin and torque—propelling the ball with such force that it earned the name HYPERDRIVE, a true celestial masterpiece.

Now, as you face the oily empire at your local lanes, let the HYPERDRIVE be your ally, striking down those thick, long oil patterns with cosmic precision.

Here's what Roto Grip has to say about the RST Hyperdrive:

A long time ago in a bowling center far, far away...the world of bowling entered a new level of ball reaction unrest. There were countless oil conditions which added to the complexity of the game. During this revolution very few centers of bowling chose to follow the path of slicker conditions, while the greatest number of centers chose the path of less volume and less length which created more overall friction. During that time frame, we elected to develop bowling orbs that cleared the front of the lane more easily to combat those higher friction conditions and higher friction lane surfaces to better serve the bowling republic. More recently, however, the cries for help have echoed loudly from all around the bowling galaxy. Those cries for help all requesting greater traction with asymmetrical power to combat and fend off those heavier and longer oil conditions. So, we enlisted the help of our R&D Troops to lead this mission to restore the peace against the oil rebellion. They wasted little time in tossing their research efforts into HYPERDRIVE to create what was needed for the masses in both the competitive and advanced levels of bowling games. In reviewing our current roster of asymmetric bowling orbs, our team of R&D troopers found that we were in fact in dire need of a more advanced propulsion block encapsulated in our MicroTrax coverstock traction system. It was determined during this intergalactic review process that the best block to insert into our A.I. Core technology was in fact the RST (Roto Star Tour) block design. The combination of this singular density asymmetric shape encapsulated inside of an A.I. Core created an ideal amount of accelerated spin and torque thus leading to greater propulsion, thus resulting in the name HYPERDRIVE being given to this beautiful galactic bowling orb. So, as you find yourself battling the sinister lane man at your local bowling establishment, may you find yourself at peace with the assistance of the HYPERDRIVE to combat and destroy those heavier and longer oil conditions.
