Did You Know? The History Of Storm Bowling

bowlingball.com 1/13/2017

DID YOU KNOW…

“Charles H. Duell was the Commissioner of US patent office in 1899. Did you know that Mr. Duell's most famously and erroneously noted that "everything that can be invented has been invented?” It is clear
that Mr. Duell did not have the foresight of Mr. Bill Chrisman, CEO of Storm Bowling Products. How so, you ask?

It all started in the spring of 2000 when Storm’s Bill Chrisman introduced his “crazy” new idea of scented bowling balls to make his products stand out from the competition. His vision included the experience of the consumer walking in the pro shop, noticing some type of new smell, and asking the operator “Why does your store smell like vanilla, or orange, or cherry, etc.?” The pro shop professional would say “That’s the new Storm ball. Come check it out!”

Once the bowler would have the ball in their hand, checking out the new fragrance, the ice would then be broken and a conversation would ensue. Fast forward to 2010, the first of two patents for adding fragrance to a bowling ball was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Be sure to check out the new fragrances in each and every Storm reactive ball!
