The Luci Doubles has a new home
The Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles Tournament or the “Luci” for short is moving from the Bowl on Bellaire to its new home, Copperfield Bowl,
This years’ event will be held July 27-30th.
First place will again pay a guaranteed $15,000 for first place with a 1:4 cash ratio, but
as always will pay more than the advertised number of spots. This tournament, while being a charity event to fight breast cancer, is also all about the bowlers. That has been tournament and foundation organizer, Donna Conners’ mission statement for the last de- cade. And this mission is coming off of a record setting 2016 that collected over $82,000 to fight breast cancer.
“I’m excited and a little nervous to be in a new place, but they are really excited to have the tournament, and
that gets me excited,” said Conners on the move to Copperfield.
Copperfield has phenomenal ownership that has a long history in the bowling industry, as well as hosting professional al events for years. The center has 44 lanes and Conners is hop- ing that they fill out the four squads once again this year; last year they had 152 entries, a Luci
One of the biggest changes for this year is a reduction in qualifying games from eight to seven. One of the main reasons is to get the Pro-Am started on time and also help the bowlers get some rest before the semi-finals start on Sunday.
