Reliable Footwork Tips For Senior Bowlers

If you are an experienced senior bowler, you certainly can benefit from brushing up on good footwork fundamentals. In fact, there are reliable footwork tips for senior bowlers you may wish to consider if you are working to improve your game:

*Use your natural length walking stride and gradually increase your pace of walking each successive step without losing body balance.

*It is recommended that the toe on the sliding bowling shoe finishes only 6 inches or less from the foul line. It is surprising how many senior bowlers have inadvertently shortened their steps over the years and now slide a little too far behind the foul line.

*Avoid racing or lunging with your steps by stepping away too quickly on your first step.

*Walk your intended lines. Avoid excessive drift to the left or right. If you are a bowler who walks perfectly straight to the line and does not drift left or right regardless of where you align yourself on the approach, you will simplify your footwork process and establish a reliable walking pattern.

*The slide step should glide into the approach with the sole and heel of the bowling shoe sliding evenly and smoothly from the momentum built from the first steps. Use a modest amount of knee flex in your set-up on the approach and then retain knee flex throughout your steps and slide.

*With good walking tempo, you improve your chances of maintaining good body balance. Remember that while swinging your bowling ball, you will gain natural momentum even when you feel each step is taken at the same pace.

*During practice games, count cadence while you walk so you establish consistent tempo.

If you spend a little time on your footwork and make sure you have good balance throughout your approach, you will improve your shotmaking and accuracy.

It can be stated that accuracy in bowling is developed from good footwork.
