PBA Pro Jakob Butturff had a very successful 2019 season. After winning the PBA Clash with a $50,000 prize, Butturff did something with the winnings that not many do- he donated a portion to a charity foundation for lung cancer.

Jakob and his family found out over the summer that his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. His mother, Bridget Miller, has been one of Jakob’s biggest supporters of his bowling. He said, “The one thing she absolutely loves is watching my bowling. She loves watching me succeed, and that's why I go out there and try to compete as best I can. I know she's watching, even from afar. Keeping her happy through the way I'm bowling is the one thing I always want to do."

Butturff has donated to the National Alliance for Rare Disorders (NORD) and also LUNGevity Foundation, which serves those in need of lung transplants. Jakob proudly wears a tattoo on his left forearm that says: “ Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear the path.” He attributes the tattoo to not only his mother but also all parts of his life.
