Glenn Richard Allison, born May 22nd, 1930, is easily one of the most controversial names in bowling history…
On July 1, 1982 in La Habra Bowl in LaHabra, California, Glenn became the first to bowl a sanctioned perfect 900 series. That is back-to-back-to-back 300 games. While this was a feat that very few have achieved even until this very day, the ABC (American Bowling Congress, now the United States Bowling Congress) did not approve his award application or recognize his honor score due to “non-complying lane conditions”. Despite constant requests to reconsider their decision, the USBC has not honored Glenn’s 900.
Recently, a bowler named Steve Felege thought of another way Glenn’s honor score could be recognized. Felege stated he had the thought come to him “in the middle of the night” - He wanted the House of Representatives to recognize Glenn’s accomplishment.
With the help of Representative Mark Takano (D-41st District), Glenn Allison was recently presented with a “Certificate of Special Recognition” for being “the first man in the history of bowling to deliver a 900 series in sanctioned league competition. By so doing he is officially recognized as the “Original Mr. 900”.”
