Brunswick Bowling Acquires Ebonite International Assets

In a breaking news story that has shook the bowling community, it was announced late Friday night, November 15th, 2019 that Brunswick Bowling acquired Ebonite Internationals and all of it’s brands, trademarks and technologies.
Along with this announcement came the news that the Ebonite plant in Hopkinsville, KY closed its doors abruptly, leaving approximately 171 jobless. It has been stated for several sources that employees will be receiving compensation through January 13th, 2020.
What does this mean for the EBI brands (Hammer, Track, Ebonite, Columbia, Robby’s and Powerhouse)? While there have not been many answers given on this, it has been stated that all EBI production will continue but will be moved to the Brunswick plant in Reynosa, Mexico. All warranties will still be honored on existing EBI gear. Randy Schickert, Ebonite Internationals’s CEO was quoted saying, “Ebonite International has built a strong 109-year legacy in the bowling industry. We believe that Brunswick Bowling Products is the right partner at the right time for continuing the traditions of the Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia 300 and Track brands.”
Many pro staffers have commented on the acquisition on social media, sending well wishes to those who worked at the Hopkinsville plant. The bowling community has been in an uproar since the news was released to the public. As more information is released, we will post updated.
Our hearts are with all of those 171 employees affected by the plant closure.
