Bowler's Ed Grants Awarded To Four Organizations

bowlingball.com 9/16/2015

ARLINGTON, Texas - Bowler's Ed grants, in the form of mobile bowling kits, have been awarded to a school district, two elementary schools and a bowling association by International Bowling Campus Youth Development.

The four mobile bowling kits awarded each include six carpeted bowling lanes, rubberized balls and pins, and instructional DVDs to assist coaches and teachers in introducing and instructing the game. The kits, valued at $2,200 each, have been awarded to:

Dubuque Community School District, Dubuque, Iowa
Madison Elementary School, Madison, Kansas
Mannford Elementary, Mannford, Oklahoma
Obion County USBC Association, Troy, Tennessee

"The mobile bowling kits have been used by teachers throughout the country in physical education classes and many children have been introduced to bowling because of these kits," said Frank Wilkinson, USBC vice president and IBC Youth Committee chair. "School districts have seen their budgets tighten and we are excited to provide this program to the schools and share our sport with the next generation."

Bowler's Ed mobile bowling kits are used by schools, parks and recreation departments, and other youth groups to introduce children to the lifetime sport of bowling. The curriculum includes bowling fundamentals, fun and fitness activities and academic lesson plans that reinforce science, spelling, math and more.

Educational institutions, grades K-8, or 501(c) 3 non-profit organizations serving youth in grades K-8 are eligible to receive the annual grants. An organization is eligible to receive funding once every three years. Individuals are not eligible to apply or receive awards.
