What Do You Think Is The Hardest Shot To Make In Bowling?

Recently, wired.com published a video titled “Why It’s Almost Impossible to Bowl a 7-10 Split”. In this video, senior writer at WIRED, Robbie Gonzalez, dissects the 7-10 split and reveals why they are so difficult to pick up.
The video features professional bowler Wes Malott and E.A.R.L., the USBC’s extremely precise bowling “robot”, and their many attempts to pick up the 7-10 split on camera. Alas, both failed to convert the tough split whilst filming. While attempts were made during the video, this brought a new question to light for Gonzales, “Is the 7-10 split the toughest in bowling?”
Gonzales spoke with Ben Blatt, a data journalist who in 2015 analyzed approximately a half of a million frames of professional bowling matches in search of least-converted spares. Blatt’s research determined that while the 7-10 split is difficult, the “Greek Church” (or the 4-7-6-9-10 split) is the least converted. While professional bowler, Wes Malott, agreed that the Greek Church is indeed a tough shot, he still believes the 7-10 split to be “king” of the challenging spares.
