On January 18th, 2020, Tommy Jones was inducted into the Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Fame, just the night before the PBA Hall of Fame Classic was to begin the following day, Sunday January 19th. Already on Cloud Nine, Jones went into the event on Sunday with high hopes and achieved the unimaginable - he not only took home the historic title of that match but also did it by defeating his opponent Darren Tang 300-237. Yes, a perfect 300.
Jones threw the 27th ever televised perfect game in PBA tour history and the third in a title match following in the footsteps of Bob Benoit in 1988 and Mike Aulby in 1993. This makes for Jones’ 20th career title.
This event kicked off the 2020 PBA Tour season with the PBA Oklahoma Open to follow at the FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, OK, Jan 20-26.
