If you are an experienced bowler averaging between 160 and 180 and one who wishes to improve, it is important to know that good bowling posture leads to good shots.
Although it seems obvious that good posture allows you to be in an effective body position when walking and swinging your
bowling ball, it also means developing a very stable upper body posture and being well balanced as you are sliding and releasing the ball.
With good balance and posture, your ability to repeat quality shots improves.
Here is a checklist you can quickly refer to related to good posture when sliding and delivering your ball:
*Establish a good
athletic posture in set-up and during your approach will enable you to also assume an effective posture as you slide and release your bowling ball.
*Maintain good knee flex as you walk and slide into the foul line area of the approach.
*Make sure your shoulders are covering your sliding knee cap when releasing your ball.
*Avoid excessive rotation of your hips and shoulders at the moment you release your ball.
*Slide as straight as possible into the foul line so the toe of your
bowling shoe points to the pocket.
*Slide toward the center line of your body and under your chin.
*Avoid using an excessively lowered bowling shoulder.
By positioning the front portion of your shoulders over your sliding knee, by avoiding spinning out of your shot so far that you lose
balance, and by sliding toward the center of your body will lead to a stable position with your upper body at the foul line.
Maintaining a good athletic posture and good balance will lead to repeated quality shots and ultimately to improved accuracy.
