Francois Lavoie Wins 2019 U.S. Open

26-year-old Canadian Francois Lavoie has won his second U.S. Open, taking home the coveted green jacket and $30,000.

Lavoie defeated Sean Rash of Montgomery, IL 221-172 to earn the prestigious title. It is reported that Francois Lavoie said: "This is so surreal, and I don't even know where to begin, To win the first one was unbelievable and a dream come true. Winning the second one, wow. Especially with the way the season started, I never could've expected this. It's not something you think will happen again, and definitely not this year of all years. I feel so fortunate."

Lavoie joins just 12 other bowlers in history in winning the U.S. Open multiple times. Francois says that his success was driven by surface management and different hand positions to conquer the difficult patterns.

The field for the U.S. Open started with 144 players bowling 24 games of qualifying over a three day span. Each round, a different pattern was used until the final cashers’ round, match play and championship round when a fourth pattern was introduced.
