The International Bowling Campus Youth Development recently selected fourteen schools to receive Bowler’s Ed kits through their equipment grant program. Through this program, school’s educators are provided tools to bring a fun “bowling-center atmosphere” to their facilities.
Each kit comes with step-by-step directions and instructional videos made for teaching the children proper bowling basics, etiquette, safety and scoring. A carpeted mobile bowling lane, rubberized bowling balls and plastic pins are included in each kit as well.
Bowler’s Ed kits have proven to be a fun yet helpful tool in many schools. The kits allow children to enhance skills in math, social studies, problem solving, and of course, physical fitness. Kits are focused on grades K through 8th.
The fourteen schools awarded Bowler’s Ed Kits are:
Allen Independent School District, Allen, Texas
BASIS Independent McLean, McLean, Va.
Cambridge Lakes Charter School, Pingree Grove, Ill.
Geggie Elementary, Eureka, Mo.
Greater Abilene USBC, Abilene, Texas
Iola Middle School, Kan.
Kelly Miller Elementary, Winnsboro, S.C.
Lara Academy, Chicago
Lincoln Elementary, Norman, Okla.
Marissa Junior/Senior High School, Marissa, Ill.
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, Wichita, Kan.
SouthTech Preparatory, Boynton Beach, Fla.
The Special Children's School, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Unified School District (USD) 259, Wichita, Kan.
The main goal with IBC Youth Development and the distribution of Bowler’s Ed kits is to encourage physical education teachers to make bowling one of the sports they add to their curriculum. Starting the youth in bowling at an early age may help to grow the sport even further by educating them proper technique and rules, much like other popular sports taught in schools.
