The 2020 Team USA Trials and US Amateur events are set to begin in Las Vegas, NV, starting January 3-7, 2020. The events will be hosted at the Gold Coast Bowling Center.
Some of bowling’s top players will be competing for a place on Team USA, including long-time Team USA members Kelly Kullick and John Janawicz. A record field of at least 165 women and sold out field of 175 men will all fight for the chance to represent the country. Competitors will earn ranking points based off of their finishing positions in each of five qualifying rounds. The top 4 men and top 4 women will earn a title and a spot on Team USA to represent the country at the 2020 World Cup held in Kuwait. Two additional men and two women will be selected by the National Selection Committee from a pool of players that also competed during the week’s events.
After Team USA Trials are complete, the top three amateur men and top 3 amateur women will advance to a stepladder final to compete for the US Amateur Champions. One man and one woman will earn a spot on Team USA. If the champion was previously on Team USA in the past, the spot on the team will be awarded to the next highest ranking Team USA Trial qualifier.
