With 72 combined career professional titles, Team USA will send its most seasoned team to the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women’s Championships. The biennial event will be held July 27-Aug. 2 in Las Vegas.

Lynda Barnes and Stefanie Nation, who each competed in the past two World Championships, will be joined by professional veterans Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Liz Johnson, Kim Terrell-Kearney and Wendy Macpherson as Team USA seeks its first team gold medal in more than 20 years.

In recent years, Team USA has closed in on the gold medal but came up just short. They finished second to Malaysia in 2007 by seven pins and in 2005 were runner-up to Chinese Taipei by 12 pins. Continue reading ‘Team USA selects squad for World Womens Championships’ »

Ebonite’s Magic Touch is the perfect complement to the Magic. Designed with more length in mind versus the Magic, we formulated Flexol Plus Reactive. When combined with the Magic Symmetric Mass Bias Core, the Magic Touch does provide a “magical” move to the pocket.

When looking for a great mid-price ball that has all the features bowlers are looking for, look no further than the Ebonite Lane Breaker. With the all new EMP1 core design, wrapped inside our strong Traxion Reactive .048 veneer, the Lane Breaker will be a great option for bowlers of all skill levels.

HANDLE WITH EXTREME RECKLESSNESS.
There’s nothing safe about the Raw Hammer Burn. Made with our Shredder Reactive Pearl coverstock and Raw Hammer Deal core, we’ve designed it to be dangerous from the outside in; a scary combination of power and control you won’t find in any other mid-level ball.

The Raw Hammer Burn. Let the pins burn.

Core
The new ultra-low RG Paragon core was designed with two intentions. First, lower the RG to create a faster revving core that will provide improved mid-lane traction. And second, raise the RG differential to increase the track flare potential which will generate more overall hook with standard layouts and the use of interchangeable thumb sleeves.

Coverstock
The Wild Thing utilizes ConneXion coverstock known for its unbelievable traction response from foul line to head pin. The aggressive connection of the Wild Thing to the lane surface inspires confidence in the ball reaction that allows bowlers to play the lanes the way they want to.

Ball Motion
The Wild Thing and its new ultra-low RG core system improves the adhesion of ConneXion coverstock to accelerate the response to friction and turn its attack loose on the pins. This core/coverstock combination allows the Wild Thing to generate a shape never seen before in the Brunswick line. Wild Thing…I think I Love You!!

Micro Finishing Pads
The bowling industry is starting to embrace the surface finishes created by 2000-grit and 4000-grit abrasives. These abrasives create a glossy finish that many bowlers would assume are polished with a wax or similar compound. The benefit to the bowler is that these finishes create length similar to balls coated with compound finishes, but are better able to handle carrydown. The Wild Thing is finished with 4000-grit Abrasive pads driven by the new Haus high-speed bowling ball resurfacing machine.

Reaction Characteristics
•Out of the Box: With its 4000-grit micro pad finish, the Wild Thing will provide excellent length and a strong back-end reaction to match up on medium to oily lane conditions for a wide range of bowling styles.
•If your Wild Thing goes too long: Shiny surface finishes sometimes cause the ball to go too long before breaking. To get your Wild Thing rolling sooner, dull the surface with a 2000-grit micro pad to increase hooking action. To further increase hooking action, use a rougher abrasive to create an earlier reaction.
•If your Wild Thing hooks too early: Polish your Wild Thing with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish to increase length.

The deadly Siege is the first in our new series of Pro Performance balls and features the new MACE asymmetrical core as well as the new solid Recoil coverstock. This is a strong ball that battles heavy oil and responds quickly to friction for great pin action.

Core

M.A.C.E. ” Mechanical Asymmetric Core Engineering. The MACE™ core has three major benefits, Ultra Low RG core system to engage the Recoil coverstock, High RG differential to aid in traction through heavy oil and High RG asymmetric differential to quicken the response time to friction. Designed as a two component elliptical core
system, the MACE core is dynamically the strongest asymmetric core ever produced for a Brunswick ball.

Coverstock

Introducing Recoil™ coverstock the next extension in Brunswick coverstock technology. Recoil is a revolutionary coverstock developed by Brunswick to improve the mid-lane and backend traction of the ball on today’s slicker oils and lane surfaces. The Recoil coverstock was discovered through testing of new formulation additives and process changes in coverstock manufacturing.

Ball Motion

The Siege™ unites the new Recoil coverstock and the MACE core to produce a ball motion that is both aggressive in the oil and aggressive on the backend. The Siege is your ball when your game needs help battling heavy oil conditions and poor pin action.

Seize the lanes, Conquer the pins, Defeat your opponent!!

Micro Finishing Pads

Micro finishing pads have revolutionized the bowling industry by creating smooth surface finishes that many bowlers would assume are polished with a wax or similar compound. The benefit to the bowler is these finishes create length similar to balls coated with compound finishes, but are better able to handle today’s thicker oils and carrydown. The Siege is finished with 1000-grit micro pads driven by the new Haus high speed bowling ball resurfacing machine.

Reaction Characteristics

Out of the Box: With its 1000-grit micro pad finish, the Siege will provide excellent mid-lane recovery and a strong continuous backend reaction that matches up on medium to oily lane conditions for a wide range of bowling styles.

Since the release of the Virtual Gravity, Storm has been inundated with positive feedback and inquires of future designs. The combination of the Gravity Shift and Virtual Gravity gave bowlers a look that they had never seen before on heavier oil; mid-lane control with explosive back-end reactions. One of the greatest features is their adaptability on changing back-end motion depending on the layout chosen.

Our intent with the Virtual Energy is to utilize the early revving motion and explosive back-end characteristics of the Shape-Lock™ HD core, along with the performance proven R2X™ coverstock. The coverstock is the key element to this equation and engineering the right blend of solids and pearls to create the perfect compliment to its predecessors.

Overview:

The testing phase brought several factors into play. We tested several coverstock combinations with the profilometer, as well as, on-lane C.A.T.S. testing. Our goal was to develop a ball that utilizes the best characteristics of its predecessors as well as creating its own unique performance.

Our final product is the R2X™ Hybrid. The combination of the two pearls and a solid reactive delivers the perfect fit within our product line. The solid generates just enough mid-lane read on the heavier volume patterns, while the two pearlized parts deliver the strong motion on the back-end.

The Virtual™ Energy is the perfect complement to Storm’s Premier line of bowling balls.

1786 Mark Roth Support Fund Being Coordinated by Bowling Foundation

Legendary pro bowler Mark Roth recently suffered a severe stroke and is just beginning the long journey of rehabilitation. The Professional Bowlers Association and United States Bowling Congress hall of famer changed the sport of bowling forever during the 1970s and 80s with his unique style, powerful approach and frequent domination on the PBA tour.

7200 Michigan Bowler Takes Singles Lead At USBC Open Championships In Record Fashion

LAS VEGAS - Perseverance paid off for Bo Goergen of Midland, Mich., as he rolled the highest three-game series in the history of the USBC Open Championships on Thursday.

The 48-year-old right-hander, who made his 31st consecutive tournament appearance, struck 32 times on the way to games of 299, 299 and 264 for an 862 series. He topped the previous mark of 858, rolled by John Janawicz of Winter Haven, Fla., on the way to the 2004 Regular Singles and Regular All-Events titles.

Goergen’s record-setting performance also moved him into the top spot in Regular Singles at the 2009 Open Championships. Ron Vokes of Racine, Wis., previously held the lead with 857, which he shot en route to a tournament-record 2,321 all-events total.

“It’s absolutely incredible, and I couldn’t believe it was happening,” said Goergen, who left the 7 pin standing in both 299 games. “In anybody’s wildest dreams, to shoot back-to-back 299s at the national tournament is unbelievable.”

Goergen added 700 in doubles and 628 in team for a 2,190 all-events total, which is good for third place overall. His efforts also helped Northern Lanes Pro Shop into third place in Team All-Events with 10,116, the eighth-highest total in tournament history. Linds Limited of Milwaukee leads this year with 10,372.

“I got into a groove, the ball was coming off my hand clean and I was reading the lanes properly,” Goergen said. “I don’t look at the scoreboard, and even when I know I have a good game going, I treat each frame like the first frame of a game. That’s what helps me relax. For me it’s joking with the guys and loosening up. The guys were back there keeping me calm. That’s what helped.” Continue reading ‘Michigan Bowler Takes Singles Lead At USBC Open Championships In Record Fashion’ »
