Tune Your Bowling Game

If you are averaging between 140 - 160 and wish to tune your bowling game, then follow these easy tips.

*Set-Up: Set your spine angle tilt to ten degrees.

Avoid setting your bowling shoulder too low in comparison to your basic set-up.

Maintain slight knee flex in your set-up to bring your big leg muscles into use for power.

*Footwork: Walk lightly on the approach to avoid hurrying your steps.

An even tempo with your steps leads to consistency.

*Balance: Reduce movement in your upper body while walking to the foul line.

Keep your head as motionless as possible while walking to the foul line and while you are releasing the bowling ball.

*Swing: Work on a consistent timing sequence to initiate the swing.

Arm tension is a swing killer. Relax arm, neck, and shoulder muscles so you develop the feel for a repetitive swing pace.

*Release: If you hook the ball, rotate the ball with your bowling fingers a small amount, perhaps only one inch of rotation and key your thumb exiting your bowling ball at the bottom of your forward swing arc.

Focus on ball speed control. Consistent ball speed allows for the release to repeat effectively time after time.

*Finish & Focus: Work on holding your form at the line after you release the ball and until your ball passes the targeting arrows. Do not diminish the importance of focusing on your target with full commitment.

These tips seem basic and easy enough to do but it is surprising that when you enter the competition arena of a league or a tournament, these keys to your game tend to slip away at times.

Identifying a few simple keys to place focus on when you are bowling in competition can make the difference between bowling well or not.
