Bowlers Specs:
PAP: 5 5/16 over 15/16 up
Rev Rate: 530
Ball Speed: 18.5 MPH
Axis Tilt: 45 Degrees
Axis Rotation: 10 Degrees

Bowling Ball: Affinity
Layout: 90x5.5x35
Surface: 1000 Grit w/ Factory Finish Polish
Test Pattern: THS

Initial Thoughts:
The Affinity was a very welcomed addition to the Ebonite line up! It filled a hole that I have seen in the line for a few years now, a lower diff/mid rg ball. With core numbers at 2.52 rg and 0.040 diff at 15lbs, the Affinity in a very clean and smooth ball motion. When the fronts start to burn up and you have a hard time getting the stronger bowling balls through, that’s where the Affinity shines. It’s very clean through the front part of the lane and with the lower flare potential it’s not hard to control off the end of the pattern. It has a great arc off the spot, especially when there’s a lot of friction on the lane.

Best Uses:
Higher rev players will love this ball on fresh house shots and med volume/med length patterns. Lower rev players will get a lot of use out of it late in league and late in blocks and math play in tournaments.

Bowlers Specs:
PAP: 5 5/16 over 15/16 up
Rev Rate: 530
Ball Speed: 18.5 MPH
Axis Tilt: 45 Degrees
Axis Rotation: 10 Degrees

Bowling Ball: Matrix
Layout: 60x5.5x70
Surface: 1000 Grit w/ Factory Finish Polish
Test Pattern: THS

Initial Thoughts:
Wow, what a great ball. All I can say is the Matrix creates a ton of angle down lane. If you like to see your ball hook a lot at the end of the pattern, this one is for you! It looks like someone kicks it when it exits the end of the pattern. I never threw any of the original Matirx’s, so I have nothing to go on as a comparison. With an rg of 2.53 and a differential of 0.049, the Matrix fits right in the midrange area of total hook. It picks up the midlane very well and uses most of its energy when it gets to the spot, that “hockey stick” reaction the majority of bowlers want to see. I use it when longer patterns start to break down because I want that angle off the end of the pattern as I tend to keep the break point closer to the pocket on those shots. I can use if on medium length patterns but the angle it creates off the spot can be sporadic, I tend to put it away in that situation and go to an Affinity or Phenom Pearl.

Best Uses:
Longer, medium volume patterns for all styles. And for anyone looking for the big down lane hook.

Bowling Ball: The Real One

Surface: 1000 Grit w/ Factory Finish Polish

Initial Thoughts:
I can’t explain how happy I was to have this core back in my bag after all these years! This is one of the best cores ever created. With core numbers of 2.46 rg and 0.056 diff for 15lbs, I knew the Real One was going to rev up quick and flare a lot, so I chose a layout to maximize its potential. With the layout I chose, I got a ball that does just that, revs up very quick in the mid lane and comes off the spot with a very hard arc and a lot of continuation. I can’t use the Real One, for my game, going up the lane, I need to create angle through the front part of the lane in order to get the most out of it. I have drilled these for some of my lower rev rate players and they can go up the lane and get that same great hard arc off of the end of the pattern. If you were a fan of any of the original One series balls, this one will not disappoint!

Best Uses:
When you have to open up your angles through the front part of the lane on most patterns. Longer medium volume patterns I can see this ball working very well on as well.

Bowlers Specs:
PAP: 5 5/16 over 15/16 up
Rev Rate: 530
Ball Speed: 18.5 MPH
Axis Tilt: 45 Degrees
Axis Rotation: 10 Degrees

Bowling Ball: Turbo/R
Layout: 45x5.5x35
Surface: 2000 Grit w/ Factory Finish Polish
Test Pattern: THS

Initial Thoughts:
The Turbo/R is a great addition to the Ebonite line for an entry level ball. Tournament bowlers and use it with the lanes are really hooking. Really late in team tournaments and late in long tournament blocks. The high rg of 2.59 and the low diff of 0.029, it only helps when the lanes are hooking a lot. Entry level and league bowlers will get great bang for the money as well. Most house patterns have friction to the right and this will only help you use the Turbo/R. It’s a great option for beginners and tournament bowlers alike. The uses will be different for each, but will work for what it is intended for.

Best Uses:
Burnt lanes for the tournament bowler. Great starter ball for people just getting into bowling and for recreational league bowlers.

Bowling Ball: Verdict
Layout: 60x5.5x35
Surface: 2000 Grit Abralon
Test Pattern: THS

Initial Thoughts:
I tend to not use high performance balls just because of my rev rate and the strength of the ball just don’t match up. They usually flare out on me or “burn up”. But the Verdict doesn’t, it just keeps going. I have never had a high end sanded bowling ball that gets through the lane this clean and stores energy so it can continue through the pins. This new coverstock technology is really something special, it really is Good Stuff!! With core numbers at 2.48 rg and 0.055, I get a lot of flare with the Verdict. I have been able to use this on House Shots with success, which is something I am very rarely able to do with strong cored balls, as well as a variety of long, short and medium sport patterns. It is truly a very special ball. I get quite a bit of angle down lane from the Verdict but it’s a rounded angle. It doesn’t spark off of the pattern but just a very, very hard arc. Along with the great ball motion, the cover is very durable. Usually with dull bowling balls, they tend to get a lot on “lane shine” on them after about 20-30 games and they need to be resanded to get them back to the gritty finish. Not the Verdict, this ball doesn’t shine up like the others do. I had almost 100 games on mine before I started to see and lane shine and had to sand it back down. It’s been like this for everyone I have drilled one for as well. When you can keep your surface on the ball the same through a league or tournament, great things happen, consistent ball reaction!

Best Uses:
Any and all patterns and styles of play, this ball is that good!
