Brian Halstrom Storm Invasion Bowling Ball

Storm's Premier Line continues to be the most successful high performance line of equipment on the market. The Invasion features the next generation of advancement in core and coverstock technology.

Pin to PAP(4 1/2" over 1/2" up) - 5"
Mass Bias Position - 3" right of Center Line
Balance Hole - None

Surface Preparation - Left at Box Finish

What I Was Looking For In This Layout: After testing the Virtual Gravity, I had very high expectations on the Invasion. I laid this ball out almost identically to my Virtual Gravity to get a direct comparison of reactions. I expected to be able to get into the deepest parts of the lane and have the ball recover from anywhere on the lane.

What I Ended Up With In This Ball Layout: Simply amazing... Storm has done it again. Without question, this ball provided the best reaction and carry at the pocket than any other ball I've ever tested. Compared to the Virtual Gravity, this ball hooked just as much, but gave me a little more predictability and control overall. This combination of reaction, control, and power at the pins equaled incredible scores for me the first night I tested in league.

Out of the box, I tested this ball in my league to see how far into the night I could take it. I started out the night standing on the 35th board (Yes, that was to start the night on a fresh house shot). Without effort, I was able to keep the ball on line and get it back from the 10th board at the breakpoint. As for carry percentage, I left a pocket 7 pin in the first frame. Other than that, it carried the next 11 shots. I could live with 290 out of the box for the first game.

The 2nd game, I expected to see some transition and lose a little carry at the pocket. Not the case at all. I began the 2nd game throwing the front 9 strikes. The shots ranged within a few boards of each other, but whether I missed in or leaked a it right, the Storm Invasion made it to the pocket and shredded the rack. As for the 10th frame, it was a repeat of the first frame in the first game, leaving another pocket 7 pin. 279 the 2nd game, it was looking good, but I didn't think it could last much longer.

As the 3rd game began, I decided to move left on the approach 2 boards to provide a little extra push down the lane before getting into a roll. I was surprised with how well the Invasion was storing energy down the lane as the night progressed. Once again, I found myself shaking my head at the absolute power this ball unleashed at the pins as I began the 3rd game with the front 7 strikes. After a split in the 8th frame, I finished the game striking out for 262.

831 out of the box the first night used with 32 strikes. I'm sold. Frankly, if you've thrown the Virtual Gravity, you're going to want to add the Invasion to your arsenal. If you haven't had a chance to throw a Virtual, I recommend you give the Invasion a shot. Probably the best pin carry out of the box that I've ever seen.

This review is on the Storm Invasion!

Can you feel it? The Invasion is here! I drilled my Invasion 4 1/2 x 4 from my PAP as this is about as strong a drilling as I will put on a bowling ball. I wanted something for heavy oil/tournament shots. The Invasion is by far the most aggressive ball I've ever thrown. The new R3X coverstock is a beast! Compared to my Virtual with a similar layout the Invasion is about 4 boards stronger and gets down the lane about 3 feet longer. The carry with this ball is unbelievable and this proves to me that the new Origin core is a great one, and will be around for quite a while. If you're looking for something that loves oil, this is your ball. Storm has had the last 2 Balls of the Year with the Virtual Gravity and Virtual Energy, and I expect another trophy up on the shelf for the 3rd year in a row with the Invasion! As always, Bowl up a Storm!

This is a great buy you get allot for your money. The Invasion will not last it has been discontinued. The Invasion has a strong roll in the front with strong entry angle in the back.If you need more length very easy to adjust the surface start at 500-1000-2000- 4000 abralon for a minute each stage then polish with Storm Reacta Shine and the move will be stronger.

About the Bowler

Storm's latest premier line release is the Storm Invasion that uses next generation reactor coverstock RS3 along with a new core concept called the Origin Core. Storm's concept was to create contours along the RG planes that will allow for a stronger preferred spin axis. The Invasion's technology creates a quicker revving core with a more defined breakpoint unlike any prior design found on the market.

I have found that my customers are seeing a strong and smoother ball motion on a fresh house shot, but with some surface adjustments they can play a little deeper and still generate a strong entry angle. All in all this is a good ball.

The Storm Invasion is a really great ball. This ball rips racks with ease. The transition going down the lane is violent and abrupt. This ball tears through the pocket with authority. Need something for oil this is it.

Well, I do not know if it is the coverstock, core, or layout but this is definitely the most aggressive ball I've ever thrown to date. It is stronger than my next most aggressive ball(Mutant Cell) by 7 boards.

In league last night, I had to start off around 32, looking at 17 and keeping my breakpoint around 8-10. Thanks to the 4000 grit finish, it was still able to clear the heads easily, but really begins to dig midlane. However, when it hit the dry spot, it made an unforgiving angular dart into the pocket. Seeing the result I was actually able to miss right a bit and still had it recover. However, I paid the price when I missed as little as 2 boards left. 229, 289, 260 the first night-even with three nasty spits.

Most pieces I through can usually cover different conditions. If you need a Heavy Oil only ball, I believe this is the one.

I have been long needing a new bowling ball and finally decided to make the move to Storm. Compared to my old Twisted Fury and Absolute Inferno, the Invasion is a beast. I had mine drilled 4" pin to pap x 4" mass bias to pap x 2" pin buffer (nothing too crazy) and the pin resides roughly 1 inch above my ring finger. On a fresh lane (heavy oil) this thing is a dream to work with. I can line up just about anywhere and find the pocket by simply changing my hand position at the release. Compared to my two brunswick balls, I would have to slow them down and play right of the 20 board, playing any deeper and they would never come back. The invasion worked great from lining up far right and just rolling the ball out at 5 degrees off the hand and still finds the pocket. Line up far left with a change of hand position to 45-50 degrees and this thing will skid all the way out to the 5 board and still come back destroying the pocket. After the lanes break down a bit, this ball begins biting the lane early and reading dry spots. To get the ball to play on the same line requires increasing ball speed or reducing rpm or even both. A drying lane doesn't mean you would have to switch balls though because like I mentioned earlier, this ball is very versatile with simply changing hand position to give it a different reaction/roll and pick a different line to finish up. This is my first Storm ball and my impression is just wow! I should have done it sooner. The scent of berries and cream isn't too bad either :).

I had read some reviews about this ball before buying it and figured it would probably end up being the most aggressive ball I'd ever throw. That was definitely proven right tonight.

The house I bowl at had pretty fresh oil on the lanes when I had the ball drilled up so it was a pretty nice condition for me to test the Invasion out. I was throwing from the 33rd and having it go out to about the 8th. The backend on this ball is very unforgiving. You definitely don't want to miss left with this ball because it snaps harder than any ball I've thrown before (including the virtual gravity and the virtual energy; mind you my invasion is drilled a good amount less agressive than both of these balls). But, when I would throw it down my usual line, those pins would crash and have no chance to stay standing. I was looking for a ball to throw on very heavy oil and definitely got what I needed. This ball is the perfect compliment to add to anyones arsenal.

About the Bowler

I just received and drilled my new Invasion yesterday evening. I Had it drilled 4x4x3. I was looking for a strong mid lane ball, to compliment my Storm Energy, and Virtual Gravity. I average just over 200, and would consider myself a "tweener" with medium ball speed. I've only thrown 3 games with the Invasion, but from the first ball, it was crazy! This ball flat hooks! The ball jumps off of the spot. I was playing deeper than I have ever been able to play, and the ball just keeps driving. Storm has done it again! I think the Invasion will be great on the sport patterns, as for the house shot, I will probably get one and a half games out of it before going to the VG or the Energy! If your looking for strong, this is it!

This is one of the worst balls to ever come out of Storm factory. With all the hype this ball does not live up to it. Maybe if Storm would have increase the RG, it would have been a great ball. However, this ball does not handle oil, and burns up too fast in the dry. Talk to one of Storm's reps, he said the cover was too pouros! It has to tendency to soak up a lot of oil. I could not get my Invasion to perform on no lane condition. Be aware of Storm balls with low RG and 4000 coverstock.

I had my invasion drilled up with a 5x5 which put the pin under my ring finger and mb in the strong position.I tried to roll it in my league but it was just to strong for the condition so i took it home and added some black magic polish on top of the original 4000 abralon finish.Took it to practice the next day and ended up shooting 258-289-300 for a 847.It still felt good even though it was just practice. After the surface change it gets through the heads much easier but still has a strong midlane and the backend has increased which has increased my miss room and pin carry.Overall i am really happy with this ball and feel some high scores coming my way!Dont be affraid to adjust the surface if its not rolling the way you like.

What a difference a day makes! I really was'nt happy in my earlier post about the Invasion, but I was determined to like this ball! Good news, no re-drilling needed once I learned how to throw this MONSTER down the lane. My mistake was expecting the same reaction I was getting from another ball in my arsenal that was drilled the same way(rolling it from the same mark),it's not as aggresive as that piece but aggresive in it's own right! At one point it was hooking too much and once I made a minor adjustment..BOOM!MUNSON-lol-STYLE BABY! Nothing below 190 the highest being 260! Storm, I was wrong, this ball rocks, it's the first out of my bag then I hit 'em with the Second Dimension.

Needed a heavy oil ball and my coach gave me his Invasion. Love it. I don't get enough revs to throw over the middle on flooded lanes, but in normal oil, I can play a variety of lines with this and do extremely well. Sucks up a lot of oil though, so be prepared for your line to dry up somewhat quickly. I've heard people complain about the ball dying on them after using, but I'm guessing they don't clean their balls after use. I clean mine after every session and I've seen absolutely no change in the powerful hook I get from this ball.

This is my favorite solid ball. Aggressive, but controlled. Gets through the heads smoothly, then starts a strong arcing motion to the pocket once hitting the dry. I won't ever touch it on dry conditions, but it's not designed for those conditions. Ball even gives a little bit of room for mistake with the release on a THS compared to other balls I've thrown.

I gave Storm Invasion Bowling Ball a 4 star. Since I bowled only for a couple of times with this ball, I can not fully evaluate the full performance of the Storm Invasion Bowling ball. But this I can tell you that I bowled a 201 score. The first time as far as I can remember. Bravo Storm. And good job Bowlingball.com.

About the Bowler

my friend hated the ball and decided to give it to me...i just got the thumb redrilled and the finger tips replaced
the ball was is drilled to ark and i normally play a line that that the ball snaps on
when i tried my normal line it skid and hit the 6 10... the ball carried and struck and right from the start i thought this ball was a keeper
oil was ths with a medium-heavy amount of oil. i played straight up the 4th board at abut 14.5 mph and the ball hooked at 40 feet and continued to hook into the pocket and crushed the pins. at league i shot 690 which is 30 over average and with a new ball playing a completly different part of the lane...
the next day i took it to my traveling scratch trios league where we bowl 4 games on lanes that i only bowl at 3-4 times a year... i shot 960 for the 4 and crushed my opponet
overall this ball is great and continues holding and hitting the pocket like none other
BUY THIS BALL WHILE YOU STILL CAN YOU WILL REGRET NOT OWNING ONE OF THE STRONGEST BALLS OUT THERE

I bought the Storm Inavasion because i needed a ball for a long flat oil pattern. I had trouble with my other balls not finishing and driving through the pins. The invasion did just that and then some. This is an awsome ball for heavy long oil patterns, it gets through the oil and has a strong move toward the pocket. I wish i would have gotten it sooner.

About the Bowler

Layout- Pin over ring, cg in the palm, mass bias by the thumb hole, no hole.

I was given one of these by a supplier after they were discontinued. I had been looking to add more Storm stuff to my arsenal, so anything I could get a hold of was a plus. What surprised me about this ball was how angular it was for a high-end asymmetric solid. Every time I had drilled one of these for someone else they rolled quick and smooth and looked great as a ball to throw outside on a flood, but mine looked more like a medium ball in terms of breakpoint location and shape and looked like something I would throw from the track left. I sanded the cover down to 1000 and it made it a lot more versatile for me. I was also surprised how strong this thing was- it’s every bit as strong as my Nano- at least for ME, whereas the Nano seems to hook more for just about everyone else. I dig the colors and scent as well.

Much better ball than what i've had. I had a Tropical Heat that was okay, but this was a big step up, feels better too having a new drilling done that's more up to date with my hand size. I'm a 2 handed bowler who is 14, this ball upped my average from 219 to a 238. Sad to see it go as it is being discontinued. Luckily all of us who get it now will have one of the last. I will see if i can get a video up of me getting a strike with it, long story, but every time i get recorded i get a split, so i'll see what i can do. What i like though is that i don't have to put much work into the ball like before to get some nice hook, but i will most definitely be getting closer to that gutter and putting in more speed, much more than what i thought and the break point is much later near the end but still able to come back in time to get you in the pocket and strike. I still have to get used to it a little more but it's an awesome ball.

I tried my Storm Invasion out today. It is my first reactive resin ball that I have owned. I was using an old technology Columbia 300 which really had little hook. I have a stroker style and my average has always been around the low 170's. I used to bowl primarily from around the 35-36th board (way right) and targeted the 1st arrow; pretty much Earl Anthony style. I would leave an inordinate amount of splits. I now am able to move to 3 boards right of the middle dot and release the ball on the 2nd arrow. I opted to lighten the ball from 16# to 15# and use finger inserts as I never tried them before. I am glad I did. I get a bit more rotation on the ball, and boy does it carry! About 5-10 feet from the head pin the ball grabs the lanes and tears into the pocket. I bowled a 4 game average of 196 today: 180, 208, 200 and 208 respectively. I am very impressed. I had it drilled for maximum hook and it does just that. I have relegated my Columbia 300 to spare ball status. If you are a stroker, this may be the ball for you.

I was looking for a ball that would give me a little more turn at the backend on various oil conditions. I'm a low rev bowler, 190 average,
with medium ball speed. All the reviews I read on this ball made me think it was the right ball for me. I told my pro shop operator what I needed the ball to do and he hit it right on. First 9 games with Invasion I've averaged 209. This may not seem like alot to some guys, but to me that's pretty substantial. Fourth game with ball yielded 10 strikes and two ringing ten pins. Ball carries light hits well. Still adjusting but I think this ball will produce some very satisfying results.

Ive had my invasion for about 6 months now and thought i should give it the credit it deserves. I have it layed out with a 5x5 which put the pin under the ring finger and mb kicked out slightly.I liked it when i first got it but i wasnt in love with it that is until i changed the surface to 1500 polished which i got from sanding sanding with a 500 abralon pad and then using storm step 2 to shine it up.Before i did this the ball didnt have enough oil to work properly so i hadnt thrown it in awhile. Now it has so much energy left at the backend of the lane that it literally throws the pins everywhere and kills the pocket, its like night and day.I get alot of messangers with this ball which is always fun to watch. Since the surface change i bowled a 300 in practice then two weeks later did it in league. Then today i ended up shooting a 258-279-269=806 for league which is my first 800 series.I ended up staying and shot another series with it and ended up shooting 247-269-258=774.Ive changed a few other balls to same surface and have shot quite a few hi 700 series. This 1500 polished is my new favorite surface and has worked on all types of balls with great results. So if this ball isnt reacting the way you like it change the surface you just might find the perfect fit for your game.

About the Bowler

Our local establishment has gone to heavy oil so far this year, and I'd been having a difficult time finishing strong in the pocket with my previous ball. The Storm Invasion has really helped solve that problem with a stronger back end. I'm 64 years old and this aggressive ball allows me to use more of an inside line to the ten board, which gives me a stronger angle into the pocket with great carry on soft hits. You don't have to be a cranker to benefit from this aggressive hooker!

Out of the box this ball is great dont get me wrong, After 30 games its a good 200 dollar spare ball thats it. I sent mine back to storm to run through surface factory and it still was horrible. Had storm check the surface and all and said nothing was wrong but it didnt hook. out of the box it was best ball ive threw. Save the money and get a RotoGrip Mutant CellPearl

I can't give this ball 5 stars unfortunately. If i would have rated it when i first used it, it most definately would have gotten 5. this thing flat out hooks, and almost too much. ive never played so much lane in any bowling ball i have ever owned, period. it smells amazing too haha. my problem is that i received this ball in march, and in mid september, i had to have it resurfaced. i just figured that it eats up so much oil, it needed a thourough cleaning. well i just had to have it resurfaced AGAIN, 3 weeks later! this ball is a soaker. it will lose it's hook pretty quick. it's a little sad that i need a new ball only 6 months after getting this thing brand new. the only reason i couldnt give this ball 3 stars is because of how amazing it was when it arrived. i would recommend this ball, but only use it when you seriously need something to hook

This ball is awesome. I bought one for my father in law for his birthday he loves it. He is a 200+ average bowler and very knowledgeable about the sport. He loved it so much he bought one for his wife. This ball comes back from to the pocket hard and destroys the pocket. This ball does like oil. I used it with a 9 o'clock hand position on drier conditions and it still tore up the pocket. Borrowed for a game during leagued and bowled a 218 first time, no misses, just took me to long to figure out the right lane. Love this ball.

The invasion is a super strong ball, but after 75 games bowling with it, the ball wasn't reacting the same. I'm a stroker so I had my feet at about 18 and aiming at 10, but now I'm at 13 and still aiming at 10. It's a great ball, but the overstock just seems like it wears out much faster than other bowling balls. I would recommend this ball to any bowler because you hook it a lot, you could use it on a long pattern, and you could even use then on short patterns. Great ball!

About the Bowler

Super ball. I got it drilled by someone I have never used before but had heard good things about him. He did a sweet job. The ball took a little getting used to in that it really does hook a lot and hard. He used the recommended drill pattern for maximum action (first on on the paperwork you all sent with it). With my other equipment, I used to have to baby it to give it time to make the break and head up hill to the pocket. This ball, I feel like I can get up there and rip the poop out of it, run it out to the ditch and watch it come on home to the 1-3 hole. Problem is, it hits so hard and keeps driving, I am leaving 7,8,9 and 10 pins (one at a time of course) on really good hits. I'll have to play with the speed (drop it down) with a little less agressive hand position to control the hook a little more and give the ball time to move around a little more in the pocket to get them singles to drop. Not a problem. I am looking forward to playing heavy oil somewhere soon and see what happens (our oil pattern is probably medium at my home house with spotty back ends). I plan to keep and eye on Storm equipment in the future when I decide to purchase new equipment. thanks! I am glad we did business together!

I'm a forward roller, and I really like the way this ball takes off further down the lane. It goes down and then snaps into the pocket. Mine is drilled pretty aggressive, and I use it on flooded shots.

This is the ball that I always start out with in league and in tournaments. The arch is smooth and not too jerky on the back ends. The rotation of the ball helps it to come in hard and solid on the end.

i am a 17 year old tweener out of Oklahoma. i bought the storm invasion about a month ago and it is the best ball i have ever had. it has more backend than i thought was ever possible and i almost always hit the pocket. if i threw it downt the middle, it hangs and hits the pocket. if i threw it outside, it came back like a champ. deffinately the ball to have for a non THS. my average since i got the invasion has gone up 30 pins. great ball

this ball was really good and it hooked like crazy for like the first 100 games on it, but after that it hit like a wet noodle.
now in league this ball is absolutely useless. my reign hooks more than this ball and it's drilled weaker too!

This is a great ball. I love it! It is a monsterous hooking ball and you can expect it to recover well on missed shots outside. With the new Origin core, when it hits the pins, you can expect to have 10 in the pit because it blows them away. This ball is very versitile to which is great.

I have owned this ball for 3 months now and it is still the first ball out of my bag. Excellent medium to heavy oil ball
with a smooth predictable backend reaction.Bowled my top 4 games in the first 4 weeks of owning this ball (two 279's & two 278's). Once the fresh oil is blended into the lane surface usually halfway through game 2 or beginning of game 3 I switch to the perfect complement to this ball (Virtual Grafity) drilled indentically to the Invasion. The Invasion is very versatile as i can also use it on low oil volumes by moving inside and playing a swing shot. Execellent ball.

Wow was my first impression when i got the ball and just threw it down the lane! We start a pba experience league here soon so im really excited to see how the ball reacts on the heavy oil. I had no trouble rolling the invasion a typical house pattern. I have noticed one major thing about the invasion is that if you dont force the ball out of your hand and just roll it the invasion will do its thing and the pin deck beware! this by far is my favorite ball i have always liked hammer but since i have been able to get my hands on the invasion not but good things to say about. i would recommend this ball and storm prouducts to anyone looking for a great ball and a good price.

this ball is amazing the power at the pins is just incredible. I throw a pretty slow ball around eleven Mph and this just make a mess of the pins. the ball seems to rev up then suddenly hooks right for the pocket. I had it polished to get more length and it is still hard to keep on the right if the lanes are even a little dry. great ball so much hook and tons of power even with my slow ball speed.

About the Bowler

I'm about a 215 average bowler with somewhere around a 400 rev rate, and I can honestly say that this ball was an absolute masterpiece out of the box. I shot a 737 on my first series, and never dipped below 600 for the next 5 or so league nights.

That said, the cover is extremely soft, and it WILL saturate with oil very, very quickly. Be prepared to resurface/hook in very often, clean it, and switch off of it if you find that it's not giving you the same action it normally would if it were unsaturated. The easiest way to tell is when it gets that shiny gloss that you often saw with burnt-up VGs.

When it works, the possibilities are endless - you can generate amazing angle even without having a huge rev rate playing a variety of different lines. However, when it's saturated, it's weaker than my weak-drilled pearlized piece, so just be aware of what you're getting into with it.

Have only just started to take the sport seriously, so this was my first experience with a higher-level ball. This ball gave me the roll I had always visualized in my head, but had yet to produce. At this stage of my game I'm about a 160 average. My first night out practicing with this I put up scores of 201, 206, 245, and 246. I've been consistent with numbers in the low 200's since then. As an inexperienced bowler it was enough to have me impressed right from the start.

The drilling I used was the 4 x 4 x 2 . Boy let me tell you I was was suprised on how it reads the dry, but still has energy to carry almost everything. I am very impressed with this ball and will say that everyone should have the Storm Invasion in their bag. It is able to go up the boards with the higher rev players they can get as deep as the heads go away. The finish I used was out of box . I feel that the cover should be touched up about every 15 games if your center has heavy head oil.

The ball is very predictable, yet super strong on the back. The layout is 4x4x2. The Invasion is great, never had to move a board the entire night once i got lined up. The only trouble I ran into was over hitting the ball. DO NOT TRY TO MAKE THIS BALL HOOK!!! It will do it on it's own.

Not what I expected from what I read about how the ball should perform. I'm not a perfect bowler, 168 league avg and was looking for it to cut through heavy oil more than my other balls, and it seems to be the weakest. I had it the oin placed under my ring finger slightly off to the left, the PAP is 5" left of my thumb hole and surface down to 500! It still skids(@14mph)starts to roll down much longer than it should, I hate to but re-drilling is what I may do.

Can't say that i love this ball as of yet. Now this partly due to the fact that I haven't been able to get a good feel for the ball. The thumb hole has been given me problems tried some tape this made it worse. I have never had an insert in any of the thumbs in my previous balls. However i feel in order to get a better release on this ball i will have to do so with this one. So if i am able to update this after i do this i'll get back and give a more accurate assessment of this ball. Right now AMF Nighthawk( shot 300 with this ball this past January) is Top dog in my bowling bag.

The ball has a good reaction in the dry area, but getting into some oil the ball has very little drive. First night bowled a 280 in the second game, but overall left a few more ten pins than usual.

Great ball! I received it from Bowlingball.com in excellent condition, with the pin position I requested and correct weight. I dulled the ball out and shot with it today. It was great in the heavy oil and became entirely too much ball after the lanes started drying up. Very pleased with this purchase.

Very impressed with the way the core increases the rev rate slamming into the pins. This is the smoothest ball of all the Storm products, it comes off the breakpoint each and every time no matter where you aim the ball. Storm needs to develop a medium to heavy and medium to light pattern ball based on this core, try this ball you will not believe the response.

I have purchased other balls because of their claims, and was disappointed by their results, but this ball does the job. I'm not a high power bowler and I don't need to be with this ball. It just another excellent product from Storm. I might even order another ball for later

I just want to start by saying this is one of the best balls that I have rolled from Storm period! I have been partial to the storm line of products since I bought a Paradigm way back when. This ball I have to say has the best lane motion I've seen yet. I hold a 222 average in my league and rolled a 290-211-219 (720 series) right out of the box. I used the recomended Storm drilling for this particular ball to get away from from normal high flare layout. Even with this less aggresive layout this ball tracks hard in the mid-lane and rolls out very nice to the pocket. I would recommend this ball to anyone that is looking to improve their overall game and average. Trust a guy that has been around the Storm line for over 4 years now, buy this ball!!!!!

I am a low Rev bowler (approx 200 RPM) so getting a ball to hook has always been a problem. I have found success with balls that have low RG (radius of gyration), high RG DIFF, and cover-stock surface below 1000 grit. The low RG allows the ball to roll early in mid-lane (instead of skidding) so the Rev’s have more time to grab, the high Diff allows max hook once the ball hits dry wood, and the cover-stock surface below 1000 grit provide max friction for gripping the lane and driving through the pins. It is very hard to find bowling balls with these specifications, but when my Ultimate Inferno died and nothing would revive it – I started a multi-day research for a replacement and the Storm Invasion was my choice. The Invasion has very low RG and high DIFF, but out of the box the surface is 4000 grit – I figure that if it went long I could resurface. I had BowlingBall.com drill the ball for max hook (PAP 4 x +1) and was surprised at how that looked (PIN above ring finger) compared to my other bowling balls. However, it works perfect. The Invasion has the most hook of any ball I have thrown (even with the 4000 grit surface). This ball keeps driving through the pins like nothing I have ever seen before. Needless to say it hits the pins harder and has the strongest backend I have encountered. The new cover-stock looks like a “pearlized” cover (shiny & smooth) compared to the heavy sanded dull balls I usually throw, However, this ball grips the lane better than my dull balls with 500 grit. I have thrown about 30 games and very impressed with this ball – my average is going up. I hope they keep the ball around for a long time so when I need a replacement it will be available.

Just got this ball yesterday and allready love it. It has everything i was looking for in a ball. Before this ball, i have been throwing my virtual energy. The only thing that i didnt like about that ball was too much length, which i shouldnt have had it drilled for. With the invasion, i can get more grip on the lane, earlier hook and something about this ball makes it hit the pins harder. I would deffinently reccomend this ball.

This ball is amazing. Have gotten crazy pin carry. This layout allowed me to play 4 boards right and further inside then my virtual energy. What i got was good length with a really explosive backend. Even with some carry down this ball cleared the heads and still drove strong to the pocket. Even when i miss left this ball was extremely forgiving and made it to the pocket. With a little polish this ball with be a little smoother on the backend. Once again Storm has come out with another winner.

About the Bowler

Have a 170 - 180 average. First three games I bowled in my friday league were interesting. First game was a 144, second game was a 218, and the third game was a 268. I think I expected a sharper curve. I have a smooth delivery, nowhere near a cranker, and don't spin the ball much at the line. Ball does seem to catch and break the last 10 feet. Pocket hits, even if off a bit, still shattered the pins. I would recommend this ball to anyone.

As usual, bowlingball.com delivered me a high performance ball in exactly the condition and weight I requested. My first game out of the box with no additional surface preparation was 278 on a fairly difficult shot, by far the best game of all the 200+ bowlers who bowl in our men's league, which is about half of the 60 bowlers.

Can't wait for my second league this week on a fresh house shot!

Check it out Storm fans! The Invasions finally here! I recieved this ball from a friend and the first night i threw it I shot 525 for two games. That was in my high school league. I shot 246 then 279. This ball is very conditional.. It really only works on the perfect shot. The only thing i really dont like about this ball is how its supose to "hook alot" My virtual Energy hook about 4 to 6 boards more and it has more backend. But, dont get me wrong, this Invasions great! I would deffinately recommend this ball to a friend!

On oily it was just amazing i could play almost everywhere and it got right back to the pocket. Btw im 14 and my average is 190 my first day i bowled a 209, 201, and 195 yahhh this ball rules!

The Invasion is more than what I thought it was going to be. It is a really strong ball. I threw a test ball at a open house where you can try storm bowling balls before you buy and when I threw it I was in shock on how strong it is midlane wise compared to the Virtual Gravity. I threw my Virtual Gravity and it goes much longer before it made a move down lane so I know when I need a ball to start earlier it is going to be the Invasion. The 4 x 3 ½ x 1 has the pin under the ring finger with the cg kicked out a little bit and mass bias about 1 ½ inches away from the thumb and no weight hole. I have it set up to where it will start up early and have a smoother arc motion in the backend but still finishes so its more controllable.

I bowled on a pattern called the Lexington pattern that was around 40 or 42 feet and the outsides were not really playable but with the Invasion I can play outside and it went longer but when it hit the dry down lane it took a right turn and 10 pins in the pit and. Once the outsides were burning up I just moved 5 boards right and play the same line.

I have a picture of my Invasion drilled in my photo album on myspace! If you have any questions about the Invasion email me at [email protected].

I just bought this ball yesterday and it is the best ball out there. I also have the virtual gravity and virtual energy and this ball has a lot more backend then the gravity and hits like a mack truck. This ball is worth every penny and storm you have out done yourself again.

About the Bowler

So I am fairly new to bowling and this year is my first time to be in a league. 3 years ago I bought a Columbia Action Max (which I love) but figured it was time for me to buy a new ball. After having the guy at the pro shop watch me bowl a while he recommended the Storm Invasion . . . To get to the point . . . AMAZING ball! This ball hooks hard at the back end. Everyone was amazed with hit. Definetely a ball worth buying.
