A very smooth rolling High Performance Bowling Ball.

The Brunswick Wild Thing is a great successor of the Wild Ride. Not to mention all of the great song references to Wild Thing.

You will see in our video that this ball rolls very smoothly through the heads and turns hard in the backend. I have thrown it a few times since shooting the video and I feel that the video doesn't really do this one justice.

If you are looking for a great bang for your money, take a look at the Brunswick line this season. The Siege and the Wild Thing should probably have a home in your bowling bag.

The Brunswick Wild Thing is a great ball for medium to heavy oily conditions. With the pearl coverstock the ball will retain more energy on the back end but still read the mid-lane well. So if you are looking for a ball that will give you more angle on the back end then this is the ball for you.

About the Bowler

I Finally got a chance to throw my Brunswick Wild Thing with the ConneXion coverstock and it did not disappoint. I drilled my Wild Thing with a dual angle of 45X 4 3/4x 70 with a 4000 abralon finish( have same specs on my Wild Ride). I was looking for the Wild Thing to be stronger in the mid-lane and to have more angle in the back. Even though on our fresh house shot I was 5 and 3 left of my Wild ride and because of its quick response to friction this ball was almost too angular in the backend. After a few games even with the heads starting to dry up and the backends starting to tighten up my angle to the pocket got was never better. After a 2 and 1 move left with the Wild Thing which was still very clean through the heads. The ball gave me tremendous amounts of forgiveness at my down lane target and incredible pin carry. I was a little apprehensive about this ball (for THS) because of it has a lower RG and a bigger differential(.045)than my Wild Ride and because sometimes I lose continuation to the pocket and carry power when trying to use stronger ball on THS. MY Wild Thing was absolutely amazing never once while I was throwing it did I have to worry about the ball losing its energy and hitting flat. The Wild Thing is a great addition to Brunswick's High Performance line and a definite plus to your arsenal.

About the Bowler

Pin to PAP - (5 1/8" over 11/16" up) - Pin is about 5" over and directly under finger bridge
CG Position - about an inch below and 1 1/2" to the right from center of the grip
Balance Hole - P3 position in thumb quadrant
Surface Prep - None - Out of Box (4000 abralon finish)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I wanted a ball from Brunswick that would replace my old original Inferno which had died a slow cover death. What I was looking for in this layout and ball was a strong ball that would get into a roll just a little bit quicker than my old Inferno. Since Brunswick claimed that the Wild Thing (WT) would be quicker off of the dry, I wanted to drill the ball to help get it into a roll.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I ended up with a very smooth reaction on the backend. The drilling sort of smoothed out the backend reaction so much that I really would not call it a "wild" reaction at all. The ball makes a hard arch type of move that does not appear as violent as some of my other balls.

The WT retains energy well and it hits like a tank! Hit the pocket and you will strike with this ball. The hit is hard and continuous. Right out of the gate, I shot a 703 with the ball. The WT gets down the lane very easy and I don't have to work hard to get it to the breakpoint.

The WT comes alive on a medium oiled pattern. And, on a THS with fresh back ends, you should have the time of your bowling life. The ball loves this shot as long as there is head oil. I can play all day with terrific hold and plenty of area.

However, the WT is slightly speed sensitive if there is a heavier volume of oil on the lanes. It can fight through carrydown as long as there is dry boards at the end of the pattern, but it will became a spare ball on a heavily oiled lane. Heavy oil is not a friend of the WT. The WT needs dry boards!

Compared to the old Inferno, the WT is a little bit more angular, yet smoother. I don't see nearly as much over/under like I did from the older ball. The WT seems to handle carrydown better, too. The WT is not a dry lanes ball. It is too strong for a drier lane. If you encounter a dry lane with this ball, put it back in your bag and go home.

In closing, I would say that Big B. has a nice mix with the new Paragon core and WT coverstock. The combination has proved to be a winner so far. I think the WT will not be the last ball with the Paragon core. The core is very strong and it has some serious hitting power. Use the WT on medium conditions and you will strike all day long. The WT should prove to be a great choice for league bowlers. However, I believe the real test will be how well the cover holds up over time. For me, the Big B. covers seem to die pretty quickly, but I am hoping that this one holds up for a very long time because the WT's reaction that I get is just what I need in my arsenal.

Peace!

Right Handed, Cranker style, I usually play between 3rd and 4th arrows, 16 mph speed
Surface - 500 grit Micropad, then 4000 grit Micropad
My PAP is 5 3/8" over and 7/8" up Dual Angle Drilling Layout - 70 Deg x 5" x 30 Deg which puts the pin below above both finger and no weight hole

I wanted a ball that would get down the lane further when the oil would break down. What I got was a ball that really finishes strong when reaching the friction down lane. This ball has a strong reaction, and really works well when the lanes are breaking down and I need to move in deeper on the lane. This ball really comes off the spot but doesn't overreact. The connection pearl coverstock works well with the paragon core.

I have been away from bowling far too long. Last league I was in I averaged around 188. This ball has me bowling 20 pins higher at least per game. It is also very forgiving. If I miss my mark, it somehow still hits the pocket! Oh sure, some games I am off, but overall this ball is an average raiser. I highly recommend it! Thanks Brunswick for getting me back into the bowling alley!!

About the Bowler

I have been averaging about 185 with my old ball. The first series with this one was 599 - I only shot 149 on the last game because my thumb was sticking a bit. I shot a season high 680 my second time out. Love the way it clears the pins out whenever I hit anywhere near the pocket. Hope it continues to work for me. Great ball for the money

About the Bowler

I am a stroker, medium ball speed and average 180. I have never liked Brunswick on dry to medium lanes, because for me, it rolls so early that it doesnt have any hook on the backend. But this wild thing is ridiculous(in a good way)on sport shots and long oil. I love this Wild Thing from its versatility and heavy roll. The Wild Thing rolls very strong and even for a stroker like me, I will hook about 11 full boards on even the tournament of champions oil pattern.(50 feet)! I was very impressed with this balls pin carry and hook. The last thing is that I could go streighter or hook easily with this ball. If your looking for an arsenal, this ball is like two in one, streighter and more hook for heavy oil. Brunswick really got my interest on this one.

I wanted this ball to give the opportunity to plan a little straighter with forward roll. I was just floored at how the ball glided thru the fronts and transistioned quickly and roll hard to the pocket. Every ball just consistently glided and rolled shot after shot. It did not overhook or make me pay if the shot went a little wide of target. The ball would just pick up the roll and the result would be "push back" strike. Thank you Brunswick.

The Brunswick Wild Thing is the best ball I have used on heavy oil conditions. No matter if I miss my mark by 4 boards, or if I flip excess speed than usual, this ball recovers quickly, and smoothly finishes to the pocket.

This ball changes everything! No matter if your a stroker or a pure cranker, this ball works, no matter what challenge faces you.

I'm a power stroker, and I averege 195 on league, with a 181 on a sport pattern.

This ball is one of the best balls released by Brunswick in the last few years. It performs just as advertised, long with a strong backend. I am a speed dominant type of bowler with an average rev rate and low axis tilt. But when this ball revs up at the break point it just takes off providing max power as it hits the pocket. This is the most angular ball with the most overall hook that Brunswick has developed. A must have in any arsenal.
