I played in a summer Hav-a-ball league. It seems like most everyone got the older, shinier Victory Road, but somehow I wound up with the Solid. There is nothing "wrong" with this ball. By rights, it deserves a "5" because it rolls clean, hits hard, and seems to really power through and clear out the corners nicely. I just don't completely "love it" (yet), because it's more ball than our usual house condition tolerates for any kind of line that I'm comfortable with. In my first league play with the ball, I started the night out playing from further left than I normally would be at the end of the 3rd game using any of my older gear. Up the 8 board (my real "comfort zone") is NEVER going to be an option with this ball. I managed a low deuce in game 1, but by the last few frames I was already needing to make some more room, and I finshed split/washout, neither converted. 2nd game I was completely lost for the front half. Could not keep the ball off the nose and went left on some spares. I regrouped by the 7th frame (at which point I had felled a whopping 91 pins) and finished with a miserable 158 ... but with a little glimmer of hope. The 3rd was solid, in the 220's, but I was honestly taking lines I'd only seen on TV!

I'm sure the real big hitters reading this are saying to themselves "it's the bowler who deserves a '4', and not the ball", and I wouldn't dispute that. But "love" is a strong word, and it's hard to rate a ball "5" that frankly scared me to death for my first 2 hours of league play with it. But by the end I saw the potential of it. It stores up a LOT of energy, and delivered correctly it is a true pin molester. I just need to get comfortable with bringing it out a lot wider than any ball I've ever played with before.
