What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

I started bowling around 1997, when Quantum was at the height of their popularity. As a young kid, the Quantum brand was the ultimate to me. They were quite expensive at this time, so I never was able to have one of the Forest Greens for myself (though I did throw a few of my friend's and loved them). Quantum was always known for the way they stored energy though the pins and their outstanding carry. Predictability and versatility was a benchmark of Brunswick/Quantum, so I was expecting to see these same qualities.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I am a sucker for a bowling ball with extreme predictability, and the Brunswick Quantum Forest Green is the most predictable ball you'll ever throw. After the first shot, I knew exactly what the ball was going to do from there on out. Most people want to see a ball that boomerangs on the backend, and there are times where this is needed. I will take finding the pocket and easy adjustments any day over that sort of reaction.

I've had one league session since I drilled this ball. I was able to use this ball all night, moved only a board and half and never missed the pocket. I'm definitely not a throwbot, so the fact that this ball read the lane so amazingly was super exciting. When this ball hits the pocket, people take notice. Brunswick did an amazing job of recreating the reaction of the original Forest Green, but for today's conditions. It's like I was taken back to when I first started bowling, which was so fun.

I can guarantee that this ball won't leave my bag for a very long time (if ever). I just know that this is going to be my go-to ball on tough conditions and any other time I can keep my angles in front of me. 5 stars doesn't seem like a high enough rating for this ball.

Quantum Forest Green Solid has returned I had one years ago. The new Forest has all that I loved very easy to read the oil pattern with the roll. The smooth roll in the front with control in the backend. The drive through the pins will show you why we all loved the Quantum.

Quantum Forest Green Solid

I drilled this ball 45 x 4 x 75. I was a little apprehensive about drilling this high hook potential ball with only a 4 inch pin, but it proved to be an amazing move. This ball easily gets through the front part of the lane, and then transitions in the mid lane to grab and make a strong move left. This layout and ball allows me to be left of the competition early, and really open up a lane. This ball has 3.5 x more coverstock allowing this ball to hit harder and fly pins everywhere. I have so much confidence when throwing this ball, that I can open up the lane, miss right, and still have great recovery with tremendous hitting power. If I had to describe this ball in one word, I say, “Amazing!” This is a must have for every bowler! This is without question a benchmark ball by Brunswick. Layout and technical gibberish aside. Now that I have a few games on the ball, this ball carries everything. Its not just my imagination with how many half 10, bucket crumbles, wallys, etc, etc, that fall compared to other balls. The pins fly around more and that means more strikes. It compensates for your errors and you get a free bag, just buy it. Its that good.

This is not just a vintage flashback, this ball is for real. With the mushroom core and a updated new cover the classic forest green will not disappoint. Drilled at a 50x3.5x50 I saw up to 5" of flare with a strong mid lane read and good continuation through the pins. This will be a great ball for lower ratio sport patterns when ball control is needed and definitely strong on typical house shots.

Drilled my ball 55x4x50 out of box 500/1000 finish. this ball was very easy rolling. Smooth in them mid-lane. With a good backend reaction. This ball just sounds different when it hits the pins. With the thicker cover stock this ball just hits and keeps on going. The other great part about this is the three ball roller tote that comes with it. A great tournament bag.

Wow, I have two of these. I drilled one pin down and the other pin up. Both have the hitting power as advertised, definitely makes a different kind of sound when it hits the pins, carried a ton of light mixers that wouldn’t have fell using other equipment. The pin down quantum I brought up to 3000, its very smooth rolling and a strong arc. The pin up forest quantum has been my favorite of the two, I left it OOB and its very strong and still pretty early rolling but extremely continuous. Ive been surprised how deep I can get with this ball and it still continues the entire way down the lane. Also the quantum bags are an awesome deal! Good quality triple roller, sturdy wheels. Can not beat this deal!

BRUNSWICK FOREST GREEN QUANTUM REVIEW

Ball Weight: 15 lbs.
Drill Pattern: 50* x 5” x 35*
PAP: 4 5/8” x 0” (up)
SPEED: 17.5 – 18.0 mph (release)
TILT: 17.5*
REV RATE: 360

I drilled the Brunswick Forest Green Quantum to be the second most aggressive ball in my bag, behind only the Mastermind Strategy, and it has not disappointed. With the 50* x 5” x 35* drill pattern, the pin ended up above and to the left of my ring finger. I did not need a weight hole, but have the option to add one if needed. I have used the Forest Green Quantum on a wide variety of lane conditions. I will post them below, as well as a brief synopsis of how the ball performed.

41 FT. TYPICAL HOUSE SHOT:

As you would imagine on a typical house shot (THS), I was able to play inside and create a lot of area with the Forest Green Quantum, with a good amount of “miss room”. The great thing about the Forest Green Quantum is that I am able to keep migrating further into the lane with my target and my feet and still have very good pin carry, which is not always true of other, high end, fairly aggressive balls I have reviewed and used in the past. Being on the left side allows me to stay further outside longer, but having the ability to move inside and know you can carry is a valuable tool for all bowlers to have, and the Forest Green Quantum gives me that peace of mind. I liked the box finish, but I also used this ball quite a bit sanded up to 4000 with no polish, and with less traffic on the left side, this surface was absolutely incredible on this ball. It allowed me to play further outside while increasing my carry percentage over playing further inside with the ball at a lower surface. This ball takes very well to surface adjustments and do not be afraid to tune it to the specific shot on the lanes, the Forest Green Quantum can handle it beautifully.

KEGEL “ABBEY ROAD” OIL PATTERN:

This 40ft. Challenge Series pattern proved to be a very interesting pattern for the Forest Green Quantum, as I bowled in a high end tournament twice on this pattern. I tried it on the fresh at box finish and really liked the initial look I got. I was able to play 14 to 9 and move in as the pattern transitioned, keeping pin carry about the same as I moved. I then used it sanded up at 4000 and found that even with 40ft. of oil, I was able to move further out and get decent pin carry. But, I bowled that (5) game tournament block on the pattern, and by midway through game three, I was able to get further inside with the Forest Green Quantum at box finish and found a very nice ball reaction, where other balls were laboring to get back to the pocket. This was very impressive to me, and having another 4000 grit Forest Green Quantum to go to later in a block when others were starting to struggle with pin carry and angle to the pocket, will give me a leg up on other bowlers.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone at Brunswick Bowling for making another winner. Brunswick truly has the best, most versatile lineup around. Showing what the Forest Green Quantum can do across a variety of oil patterns, from THS to medium and long Challenge Series patterns, will help bowlers see the versatility of the Forest Green Quantum, and just how easily this ball can be used on a wide array of conditions. It is the first ball out of my bag on medium-heavy patterns, and when the lanes carry down, I grab the sanded Forest Green Quantum, move inside and have fun. I hope you enjoyed my review of the Brunswick Forest Green Quantum bowling ball, good luck and good bowling everyone. Go get your Forest Green Quantum today!

The Quantum! I remember back in the late 90's when this ball came out, It was the must have ball. Now since its been updated and released again; I can describe it with one word. Predictable!
If you dont have one yet, you truly need to treat yourself. The ball is manageable in almost any oil condition, thru the heads, at the break and the drive and power is unlike anything else. Truly a must have when competing.

To start, I have my Forest Quantum drilled with the CG 1 inch below the ring finger, and the pin is one inch to the right and one inch above the ring finger. Due to the high pin drilling, this ball goes a little further down the lane for me, but it still rolls early and smooth. It makes a wonderfully smooth transition through the break point and gives a fantastic move to the pocket. Of course, it delivers the punishment to the pins, and it pushes through the pocket just like you would hope. The pin carry is fantastic, and It is just like anybody old enough, would remember from the quantum line years ago. I would recommend this ball to anybody looking for a smooth consistent ball on medium to medium heavy oil lane conditions.

The Forest Green Quantum has a similar motion to the original Quantum balls from 20 years ago because the construction, 2 piece ball, and core shapes are similar. With the solid PK2016 coverstock formulation and 2000 grit surface, it can handle medium to heavier amounts of oil. This is usually one of the first balls out of my bag to get a read of the lanes. I used the 60 x 4 ½” x 40 dual angle layout on this ball, which is my standard pin up layout, to give me a smoother arcing type of motion on the lane. This layout works perfectly and is the motion that I was looking to get from this ball. This ball has a higher RG which will help the ball get farther down lane before going into the roll stage which is about 40 – 44 feet on average. On a THS, I can throw it over 15 at the arrows out to about 7 to start and have no problems chasing the oil left as the night progresses and opening up my angles. I have also used this ball on a flatter 39’ sport pattern, and it allowed me to keep my angles closed but not overreact when reaching the friction. With the core weighing about 4 pounds, and 3.5 times more coverstock weighing about 11 pounds. This ball will transfer more energy to the pins, and create more opportunity to strike. The forest green quantum will give you a predictable ball motion, good continuation downlane, and will help you raise your strike percentage.

A great even ball down lane never overreacts and just cuts through the pins and splits the 8-9. Also on a light mix shot throws the pins around and doesnt leave many corners.

Condition: 27 mil Modified House Shot 42 ft

When the lanes start to get tight down lane this is my go to ball when more overall hook is needed. This thing is amazing when it hits the pocket, as the sound alone is unlike anything else. People will hear you strike from the other end of the house. I really love this ball because it is a true two piece ball, and this forest quantum really flares great. Buy a ball get a free three ball bag buy two Quantum's get two bags. This is a deal of a lifetime don't miss out, and the fire quantum is a great complement. Get one and thank me later.

This ball has proved to be a fantastic part of my arsenal. I drilled it pin under so as to have a little heavier roll and a little less on the backend. It gave me exactly what I was looking for. I love it on a wetter shot when I need it to have good traction through the fronts and a great pop on the back without being too anuglar . My favorite part is that it is an aggressive bowling ball but it is extremely predictable. Right off my hand I know where if it is going to be a good shot or not which helps me in any tournament I go to. I have a lot of trust in this ball which well you know the saying. Don't be left behind. Get this ball in your bag and you'll find it coming out frequently!

With 3.5 times more cover material, Brunswick's Forest Green Quantum goes through the pins with force. I like using the Forest Green Solid on heavier oil conditions, when my Danger Zone and Melee Cross are not strong enough.
The Forest Green Solid begins to hook a little sooner on the lane with better continuation through the pins for me than the Absolute Nirvana, even though the Absolute has more overall hook.
Out of the box at 500/1000 grit, I can confidently roll the Forest Green Solid and know it will recover. On my local house shot it allows me to move deeper into the oil and throw it in the general direction of the friction, and it will hit hard from anywhere.
If you have a lower rev rate, bowl in a center that runs a heavier oil pattern, or maybe you just throw it hard and fast; Brunswick's Forest Green Quantum will be a great ball to add to your arsenal.
