Technology
The Smash Zone integrates a pearlized version of Brunswick's exciting EnMotion™coverstock with an updated version of the original Inferno™core and a high gloss polish finish. This combination creates an ultra-low RG symmetric core ball that gets through the front part of the lane then rev's strongly to create excellent mid-lane recovery and a continuous back-end reaction.
The Smash Zone uses a Pearlized version of the EnMotion coverstock. EnMotion combines the best elements from our PowerKoil™, Activator™ and N'Control™ coverstock systems. The Smash Zone unites EnMotion coverstock with an updated version of the original Inferno core that lowers the RG diff to reduce problems with over flaring. Ultra-low-RG's are known for strong mid-lane recovery moves and their controllable and continuous back-end hooking action. Brunswick has created a strong revving counterpart to the Twisted Fury that will match-up better on lane patterns that create excessive length or over/under reaction problems for higher RG balls.
Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish, the Smash Zone is an ideal symmetric core ball for medium-dry to Medium-oily lane conditions.
If your Smash Zone goes too long: Dull the surface using 1000-grit or rougher abrasive. The hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for heavily oiled lane conditions and for smoothing over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.
If your Smash Zone hooks too early: You will need a higher RG ball such as the Swarm or Avalanche Pearl to create more length.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

What I Was Looking For In This Layout: With this layout I was expecting to clear the heads easily and give me a strong and predictable reaction down lane to compliment my Brunswick Ultra Zone. This is the second ball I have tried with Brunswick's new EnMotion Coverstock, so I was interested to see how this ball would stack up when compared to the Ultra Zone.
What I Ended Up With In This Ball Layout: Out of the box, I really needed to move left. I had originally thought this ball would be a little more tame than my Ultra Zone. When I got it out on the lanes, it exceeded my expectations. I was expecting clean through the heads, which for the most part I got, but the backend reaction was where it's at. One thing I found that I liked in this particular ball was how clean the surface stayed after I threw a shot. The ball kept its "tacky" feeling where some other equipment picks up the oil and leaves the surface oily.
After throwing a few games of practice with this ball, I learned that this thing was not going to stop hooking. The further left I moved, the more backend reaction I found. As long as I did not get the ball through the dry heads, I was alright. It did pick up quickly when I got it through the dry areas. I ended up switching to the Brunswick Swarm, a tamer ball in their arsenal that rolls very well on medium lane conditions.
The reaction the Brunswick Smash Zone gave me was surprising, being that I thought it would be less aggressive than the Ultra Zone. I think people are going to be surprised with the performance of this ball. If you liked the original Inferno, than I think you're going to love this ball. For the price, it's well worth the investment.

I do not think I can say enough good things about this ball. I drilled with the pin 5 @ 45* inches from my PAP with a small hole down on the VAL. I took the ball to 4000 Abralon with no polish. This Ball is a strike machine. I drilled this ball when it was first released back in June and since then my strike percentage went through the roof. I have had Countless 700 series in my leagues and my averages are up about 20 pins from last year. This is a great ball to have in your arsenal. I give it my highest recommendation.

This ball has one of the most wicked back-end reactions that I have ever seen. It goes long and snaps. Like this ball a lot but once the lane started to dry out it was pretty hard to control. It also is not very forgiving.

This is the first bowling ball that I have ever bought. I go once a week with friends and when I was using house balls I was lucky if I broke a hundred. My friends brother had an older upper end bowling ball and let me start using it, I was bowling 120 consistantly. That made me want to get my own ball. I've went bowling about 5 times since I purchased the Smash. My average has jumped up to 150 and I even bowled a 197 and then a 217 the other day. It was well worth the money and I am completely satisfied with the smash! I believe that an experienced bowler could really do well with this ball as it has drastically improved my game.

I have never seen another ball that has struck like this ball. I watched someone else throw one and it seemed like he couldn't miss the pocket unless he really tried. So of course I had to convince my wife to let me get one.
I can say it was definitely worth the money that I paid. I have wanted a new ball for a couple of years now, so I decided to make this my birthday present. Happy Birthday to Me!!!! YAY!!!
Averages 210 my first night out with it. I normally average 191, so this step up was great.
