We built the Resurgence from the ground up. It's a great ball that's leading the rebirth of the Columbia 300 brand. We started with a new core. Finished it with a new coverstock. We even make it in a new plant. The Resurgence is the new standard in this industry for heavier volumes of oil. This ball is strong through the body of any pattern and continues hooking all the way through the pin deck.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

The Resurgence is Columbia's first high performance ball release since they have changed over.
Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5"
Mass Bias Position - N/A
CG Placement - 1" right of grip center
Balance Hole - none
Surface Preparation - Box Finish 1000 Abralon
What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
We were looking for flat out hook in this layout and surface combination. We knew this ball was supposed to be the strongest Columbia ball to date and we just wanted to see how aggressive it really was. Most likely we will end up changing the surface preparation after we do our initial test. We do not run into enough heavy oil to warrant such an aggressive surface but you never know. Sometimes with newer high performance balls you will find you can use the more aggressive finishes because the ball are so good they still have enough energy to finish well on the backend.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I love doing ball reviews when everything works out just as we thought. The Columbia Resurgence proved to be one of the strongest ball releases this season. I left the ball at box finish which is a lot heavier grit than I would normally even try to use but every year I like to have one really strong early rolling ball just in case. This is my ball for that this season so far.
In the heads just as expected the Resurgence grabs the lane early and rolls through just about any amount of oil. We threw this ball in practice because they did seem to be quite tighter than normal. Even though I ended up putting the ball away early on I could tell what we had. Obviously if you were going to leave the cover alone like we did you could not use this ball when there is any amount of friction in the heads.
Midlane was strong as expected again. The ball motion was a great continuation of the reaction we saw in the heads. I am telling you if you are seeing heavy volumes of oil the Resurgence was made for that.
The backend motion was strong but obviously it had a little less by the time it got to the backend. If I was lined up right with the ball and played the front and middle part of the lane correctly we were fine. It still hit really hard for as smooth as it ended up being on the backend.
Check back on this review at a later date because we may try polishing the shell to see what we get out of the ball. It is great to have a ball in the bag that hooks this much but it is not always needed.

I am a collegiate bowler, and bought this ball the day it came out, because I prefer Columbia over any of the others. I have quite a few games on it already and this ball is amazing. It has a strong hit hook, even on heavier oil patterns, and it destroys the pins on the backend. This is the most pin action I have ever gotten from a ball. I have bowled nothing under a 230 with this ball.

I went out yesterday and got the Resurgence because my other ball I was using just got a little too old (9 years). The way I throw my ball is hard with a curve. So, when I found out that the Resurgence will help me, I got it. I bowled a 123, 165, and a 189 with it just open bowling. I know that I will hit the pocket more when I bowl with this in my league cause of the oily lane conditions. AWESOME Ball. I recommend this ball to any bowler that if their ball just spins and not break? You gotta have this.

I had a bunch of great balls during my years of bowling. But the Columbia 300 Resurgence bowling ball is the ball I got the most out of. I do really enjoy playing with it every time. I polished it up a little and got more length, and it hits hard in the pocket. I would as you may understand strongly recommend it!

This ball is a perfect ball for heavy oil. Unfortunately there are rarely any other times I have been able to use it. It did work very well on the short shot at Junior Gold playing up the gutter. The resurgence is very easy to read how it is reacting, as it has never overreacted for me. It just always consistently takes that turn after pushing through the oil.

im 17 years old and throw the ball around 16 miles an hour with a medium to high rev rate and average 164. i purchased is ball and left it with the 1000-abralon finish and first series i bowled was a 615. my reaction on a 40 foot house shot on synthetic lanes is very good. i start the ball out from 20 and the breakpoint is aroun 6-8. it skids through the heads and starts rolling a little over half way down the lane with a huge backend snap to the pocket. my last two weeks in league on synthetic i shot 646 twice with a 257. my only problem with the stock finish is on wood lanes. even on a 40 foot house shot the ball refuses to hook more than 10 boards. it picks up roll very quickly and you have to get the ball to the outside fast but once it hits dry it grabs and hooks immediatlel and does not continue hooking. if you are bowling on wood lanes you have to have pin point accuracy every time to strike or you are screwed. this ball is perfect for synthetic lanes though. so if you bowl on synthetic then purchase this ball immediatly and leave the cover alone if your looking for a big hook ball. if your on wood i recommend taking this ball to 4000-abralon if not polishing it. but even with very heavy oil in the heads the ball just seems to absorb it and reacts like its totally clean

I have bowled about 20-30 games on my Resurgence and I love it for the right lane conditions (heavy oil). Mine is drilled using a low-flare layout. It starts hooking early then takes off when it hits the backend. I left the original 1000 grit coverstock on it and just bought a couple more sanding pads to keep it that way. It hits like a truck (16lb). I don't think I'll be using it much on typical house lane conditions, but it works well on the PBA Experience patterns. It needs a lot of oil upfront to get down the lane.
I love this ball. It is my go-to for heavy oil.

i'm gonna give this ball 4 1/2 stars b/c its hard to get this ball to hook. i used to throw 14 but a different proshop told me 2 throw 13 so i got a 13lb reasurgence. ball hits like a truck. but the downside is u have to rev up this ball to get it to hook. if you have a low rev rate i dont recommend this ball at all. i have a lot of trouble throwing this ball cosistently because i have to cup it more than i am used to
