BVP "Brunswick Value Performance" Exceptional Value and Great Performance
The Brunswick BVP series has been developed to provide the widest range of reactions available at the popular mid-price point. The BVP series provides any bowler the ball performance they're looking for at a price they can afford.
Coverstock
The BVP Sidewinder features Brunswicks first Solid / Pearl Hybrid -Low Load Particle coverstock. Known for mid-lane recovery with controlled and continuous breakpoints, the Brunswick low load particle ball reaction has been a favorite for many types of bowlers on both high scoring house shotsand more demanding sport lane conditions.
The Sidewinders version of the low load particle coverstock is an updated version of the same coverstock made popular by the Fuze Eliminator, Danger Zone Pro HPD and Navy Quantum. The Sidewinder version is
Solid / Pearl hybrid with a low load of traction increasing particles distributed in all colors.
Core
The Sidewinder upgrades the performance of the BVP Ambush by using Brunswick™s new lower RG Rocket core system. The lower RG of the Rocket core helps the Sidewinder get into anearlier roll which helps create more mid-lane recovery on today™s high viscosity oils and hard synthetic lane surfaces.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
After I loved my new Twisted Fury, I decided I wanted to try something particle since it had been a while. I had heard some good things from the tour and other Brunswick Staff members about the Sidewinder. In an effort to really see what this ball did with Brunswick's new hybrid cover we kept everything very simple.
I was hoping to see something with a strong early revving motion in the front and a nice smooth breakpoint and backend reaction. Since this ball comes with Rough Buff we left the cover alone. Keep in mind normally with a particle cover we would be polishing the heck out of it to get it through the heads but this ball looked nice and shiny so we went with it.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Exactly what I wanted. I love when this happens. I wanted something strong in the front, GOT IT. I wanted something smooth and predictable in the middle part of the lane with a nice transition to the back, GOT IT. So far this review is going great for my ball selection and layout.
The Sidewinder was so strong in the front without a jump type of motion. I even got into some friction early and this ball did not read it and go left, it stayed right online and kept revving into the mid-lane.
In the mid-lane this thing just tore it up. Most of my movement came in this part of the lane which was exactly what I was looking for. It was strong and steady and set itself up perfectly for the backend.
Once the ball made it to the back part of the lane we did not see much movement from there but it drove through the pins as well as any high performance ball from any company. Brunswick's big push with the BVP Series in general is high performance balls at mid performance prices. I love these balls because without getting into a high performance higher price ball you can get a great ball reaction.
I think on heavier oiled lanes or when they get a little tricky and your skid/snap stuff is too much on the backend the Sidewinder would fit right into your arsenal. I have always been on the fence with Brunswick's equipment. It was always hit and miss for me personally. The last few balls I have drilled have been fantastic and will definitely earn a spot in my bag for this season.

Just got back into league bowling after a 20 year hiatus. Bought the Brunswick BVP Sidewinder bowling ball on the recommendation of the guy at the pro shop. Never even practiced with it before first league night and shot a 224 first game. Other two games were 192 and 159. Still have to get back in shape I guess. Ball is very forgiving for me. I throw about 17-18 mph; semi-roller. Nice smooth roll and good break at the backend. Very good ball at this price point. Would definitely recommend this ball.

This low load particle ball carries some backend hook. But a lot o' power in the pocket. The ball that I have bowled with in the past is okay. Also the Sidewinder is compared to the discontinued Ambush ball by Brunswick bowling and billiards fedaration.

I got the Brunswick Sidewinder because I wanted a ball that would get better traction on oily lanes - or at least lanes that start out oily like in League
The Sidewinder has a more extreme backend than my Red Zone. I'm a left-hander and also have to stand with the Sidewinder two boards more right than my Red Zone and throw over the second arrow on the left. Not that any of that is bad, it is just the nature of the ball with the Symmetrical Rocket core that the Sidewinder has.
Overall the hitting power of the ball is good. Though you need to be more precise in hitting the pocket - high flush seems to work the best. If you don't hit high flush, you tend to leave corner pins (7,4, 6, 10).
So if you want a ball with lots of hook on the back end with good hitting power, then this ball is for you if you can throw a precise and consistent pocket shot.
If you don't have the precision this ball requires to be effective and need more forgiveness in your shot, buy the Brunswick Red Zone instead.

This ball is pretty good. Has a RG core which makes it hook earlier. It has great pin carry and is easy to control. It is my second favorite ball in my arsenal. It is my second go to ball. I would recomend it to anybody with a 190 and under average.
