I used to use wacky pin placements and layouts but found out the hard way last year on the regional tour to keep your equipment simple. I also learned to play straighter and it changed my PAP drastically. After experimenting with layouts I have fallen in love with the layout of the pin 3 and 3/8 from my PAP, which never used to work for me. The Storm and Roto Grip balls hit like a ton of bricks with this layout. I got my Jolt Particle drilled up with this layout before my last night on the Cheetah pattern in my PBA experience league and matched up super well. I averaged 231 with this ball on the Cheetah. I bought this ball mainly because I love two-piece cores. Believe me when I say I can use this ball on anything, house patterns that are heavy, medium, or dry and on most PBA conditions. My rev rate can range between 400 to 500+ with manipulation of my release and speed.

I bought the Storm Jolt Particle with the intention of having it drilled to be as aggressive as possible. It was drilled to give more length than my Roto-Grip "Cell".

After adjusting my line, and moving my target from the second arrow to the third, I am happy to report that the Jolt Particle reacts well and hits hard.

Unlike my Cell, the Jolt Particle doesn't break too early, and as long as I am hitting my target, it avoids breaking too far left and missing the pocket. I did leave a few single pins the first few frames, but once I found the "zone" it gave me strike after strike.

I have not altered the surface in any way.

I would recommend this ball to intermediate bowlers who are looking to increase their hook potential.

Warning - this ball works best IN oil. Shots made outside the second arrow tend to hook late and not enough, missing the pocket completely.

Bought the Jolt Particle to replace an older Columbia Messenger. If anyone had a Messenger you know that you had to really crank it to get good hook out of it. The Particle walks through oil without cranking and on dry lanes rides just as smooth. I bowl with people with Cells and other high end balls and stay right in the thick of things with them. Great ball for the price and performance.

I just got this ball drilled the night before league. I had the pin and drill the same way as my world domination, both have the same pin with same top weight. I notice in later games that my domination would over react to the dryer lanes but it would still hit with power but it took some adjusting. I wanted to get a new ball with the same layout and that's where the jolt came into play. My first 3 games series in league got me some very good results with this ball, and the final results where no adjusting unlike my domination and a 710 series. the jolt holds the lane better do to the matte finish where u could get more friction between the ball and lane, but don't get me wrong I still love my domination and it works better on a little heavier pattern. My jolt particle was a good compliment to my domination.

This review is on the Storm Jolt Particle!

I've drilled many of these for customers, and this ball really hooks! The Jolt line is great because they covered every area with just 3 balls, and at a great price. Most balls in the Jolt's price range use a watered down core, but the Jolt's use a multi-density 2 piece core. So you actually get more than what you pay for! The Jolt Pearl is one of the best on dry, the Jolt Solid is a wonderful benchmark ball for medium oil, and the Jolt Particle is the beast on heavy oil! So if you're looking for a ball that will hook through the slop and at a great price, the Jolt Particle is where it's at!

About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
League Average    210
Ball Speed    Fast
Style    Cranker
PAP    4 1/2 over 1/2 up
I just drilled up a Jolt particle ball for a customer. I layed it out with a stacked drilling with the pin under the ring finger. The reaction this ball gave us was great read in the mid lane very well with a predictable movement on the back end which makes it easy for making adjustment to the lane condition. I would recommend this ball for anybody looking for a ball to use on a med. to heavy oil condition.
