What I Was Looking For in this Ball and Layout:

As I talked about in my Angular One review, sometimes we don't really know what to expect from a new release. In this case, I was even further complicated by my frustration with my SR300 bowling ball. When I drilled my SR300, I had no idea what to expect from this lower differential core. I made an error in layout and chose a pin to axis distance that was probably too weak. After learning my lesson with the SR300 (reviewed on this site), I wasn't going to make the same mistake with the new RXS300.

What I Ended Up With in this Ball and Layout:

Once again, getting finer grit shiny finish Ebonite bowling balls through the front part of the lane is almost never a problem. This allows me to use stronger pin to positive axis point distances. Even though the ball flares more (creating more friction), the coverstock pushes the ball down lane. In fact, the RXS300 clears the front part of the lane exceptionally well for me, even in this stronger layout. On our Guardian lane surface at my home center, the RXS300 pushed to the 36-38 foot mark at a minimum on every shot (a rarity in our center).

The breakpoint is where I get what I didn't get from the SR300. By using a stronger layout with a very strong preferred spin axis location, I was able to create a ball reaction that responds well to the friction. In fact, for my game, the RXS300 responds to the friction very nicely. Can a ball cover a lot of boards in the back portion of the lane but not be angular in motion? If so, than that's what the RXS300 does. It never really seems to respond exceptionally quickly, but it covers a massive amount of space in a very short amount of time. I would never call the shape I get from this ball angular, but the ball seems to recover from places that other balls with matching RGs and differentials don't even try.

Overall hook is not the strongest suit of the RXS300, but that's okay. It wasn't meant to be when it was designed by the folks in Hopkinsville. At my 3 ball test, the RXS300 performed similar in total hook to the weak layout Big One that I've also reviewed today. Because the ball covers so much ground in the back 20 feet, it's able to match the Big One in total boards. The fashion that the ball gets to the pocket is totally different from everything else in my bag. At this point, I'm prepared to recommend the RXS300 to all tournament/higher average players who are looking for a unique type of ball reaction. Due to my success and knowledge gained by drilling this core shape twice, I can't wait to get my hands on a second SR300.

There are not a lot of balls out there that are as versatile as the Ebonite RXS300 bowling ball. I can use it on a bone dry lane or a heavy oil lane just throw it a bit slower. I can move all over the lane from gutter to gutter and still have plenty of hitting power. This ball is a great building block for anyone starting an arsenal.

The Ebonite RXS300 bowling ball is a MONSTER!!! Of all the balls released in the last year by Ebonite, this has got to be the best. I use 14 pound equipment, so the ball is going to react a little differently for those of you using 15 or 16. This ball is actually earlier than you would expect, so try and leave a little weight on the top of the ball when drilling. The reaction is VERY strong, smooth, and continuous. You can make it arc if you want to, but it would be a waste of a ball that reads the midlane so well. I have purchased The Angular One, and a 2nd Big One in the last couple of weeks as well.
Obviously the Big One is my go to ball, I have just purchased my second Big One. The Angular One is great for wet dry conditions as well. But if you want a ball that will make the turn and NOT roll out, this is it.

This ball is drilled with the pin above the fingers. CG (center of gravity) and MB (Mass Bias) both 90 degrees down the center of my grip line.

As far as I'm concerned the Ebonite RXS300 bowling ball is the best ball ever made. I average 191, throw 15-16 mph, and crank the ball pretty hard. I play on a medium house shot most of the time, and have this ball drilled very aggressively (I'm not a real expert in the specifics, but I can say it needed a weight hole). I've thrown about a dozen games since I got it, and none have been below average. Only one was below 200. I threw 677 (235,210,232) in league tonight, and I think I'll do roughly the same thing next week. When this ball wears out, I will first shed a tear, and immediately get another one drilled. It goes way long, and just when you're ready to give up hope, it snaps into pocket and the pins go flying. It carries the corners better than any ball I've owned and I just can't say enough about it. If your style and situation is anything like mine, buy one of these now.

The Ebonite RXS300 is a good ball for the money. I like the SR a little better. This ball is angular and can come back from most places. I drilled pin up, the ball goes long and snaps, it carries from weird entry angles. Definitely a good ball. Tends to be a little speed sensitive. Overall it's pretty decent.

This is great medium oil ball for me. I'm a 15-15.5 mph stroker/tweener averaging 219 (one night a week bowler) I recently shot 300 with this ball. I started the night with my Big One for the first game and a half or so. The heads started to go on me so I switched to the RSX300. It allowed me to play the same general area while clearing the heads with no problem. It gives me a consistent look down the lane and has great carry. Would recommend this ball to anyone looking for a good medium oil ball.

If you have a problem with this ball, it's drilled wrong for you. I have never had so much control with a ball as I have with this one.
Even when you're a little off-the-mark this ball (with correct fitting and release) blasts through the pins for constant striking power.
After purchasing it, I have bowled maybe 3 games under 200. Deuce is almost a give me now and I can see deuce and a quarter becoming an average very soon.

What to say about the Ebonite RXS300 bowling ball. Not much considering, it didn't hook and hit like my 6 pound white dot I had when i was 9. I don't know, I have always loved Ebonite but I mean this thing just flat out stinks. It's OK though I gave it to a friend and he shot 773 with it first series so at least it got some use.

I just bought the Ebonite RXS300 bowling ball today. One game on it and I can see I am going to like this ball. The bowling ball is drilled with the pin, CG (center of gravity) and the MB (Mass Bias) in a row with the middle finger and thumb. In my opinion, this is the best way to drill this ball. That is how it was when I bought it and am very impressed. Best ball for the money.
