The Frankie May signature Gryphon harnesses the power of the G-3 core design and surrounds it with the newly developed React-A-Tack coverstock. This reactive coverstock uses a revolutionary tackifying agent to create more traction in the oil, yet it still allows the ball to have very aggressive backends. This ball is very versatile and can be adjusted to fit all but the extreme oil conditions.

This ball never did react no matter how I drilled it. A friend of mine bought one and loved it, but mine never rolled like his. I drilled it 3 different ways to make it work, but got frustrated each time. Three of us bought this ball at the ABC in Baton Rouge, all drilled with the same layout about a 45 degree. Two of us hated it and one loved it. The one who liked it comes straight up the back of the ball, while the other two go around the ball.

I got the Frankie May Gryphon about one month ago. I was throwing a rock star. I moved in about 5 boards and boom. This is one of the hardest hitting balls. If you hit the pocket it's all over. I love the ball. I was a 160 average bowler now I average 190.

I've been using this ball for about 6 months, and it's definitely the hardest hitting ball I have. No matter what the lane conditions are, this thing is still extremely strong in the backend.

Ball Drilled 5 X 4 Pin over the bridge finished with Brunswick Rough Buff. The ball needs oil be most effective due to the strength of the cover/core combo. I have tried many Visionary balls and this is by far the most versatile and hardest hitting ball they make. It can be used on drier lanes with some success though due to the power of the core even when burning up in the heads. Overall if you are looking for a ball to size down your arsenal with, this is the best starting block you can get.
