Dislikes: Not very versatile. It does what it's made to do, and that's just fine by me. Dry lanes are a no-no with this ball.

Light Oil - 8/10
Not made for the condition, but can be swung with good results.
This ball is much stronger than advertised, as many people have stated before me. However, I was still able to play this ball on a light oil pattern (THS), but I did have to move to a 25-10 shot. Ball reacted beautifully, with the pearl coverstock giving it good length before it made its reaction. The reaction was a hard crushing arc. Because the ball was too strong for the condition, it left a couple of solid 8's. This ball works very well on the condition, but only if you're willing to move and swing this ball out.
Medium Light Oil - 9/10
Perfect condition, still very strong, carries exceptionally
The medium-light shot is where this ball shines. It reacts beautifully, making it down the lane easily and moving like a beast on the backend. Compared to my Classic Zone Red Pin, this ball is much longer and has more overall hook potential. This conditions really lets the ball do the work and is forgiving, allowing you a couple extra boards to miss. Lately, my leagues have favored less oil on the lanes, making the Tropical Storm a go to ball for me lately.
Medium Oil - 7/10
Will work, but can feel insufficient.
The medium shot isn't exactly the Tropical Storm's territory. It can work, but not as much as is should. It works great up the boards on this shot, but it does need some dry in the back to make it to the pocket. My SR300 was much more admirable at this shot, though the Tropical Storm can be sufficient playing a down-and-in shot.
Overall --- 8.5/10
This ball works for exactly what I want it to do. Medium light oil, this ball will be a beast on the backend and it carries great! I love this ball so far, and the smell is nice too . It is stronger than advertised, but not strong enough to be a real benchmark ball. This ball loves clean back ends, have not had much experience with this on too much carry down yet.

If my last line was 28-18 with the Hyroad, I can go Tropical Storm with 26-14 and it hits the pocket perfectly and still quite forgiving, clearing the heads without difficulty. My layout is pin above ring finger with no balance hole.
I was choosing between Global Link S30 Blue/Purple and Visionary Centaur. I believe I chose the best ball for the intended drier conditions- Tropical Storm.
I am definitely an above average bowler, Right hander.
I hope this helps.

I set my feet in and around the 15 board (dependant on how lanes are playing) I put ball out to the 5 and it comes nice into the pocket from there. Now here is my problem with the ball. If I miss and hit the 3 on out I'm HEAVY on the head pin. If I miss inside on the 7 it slides and comes real light. Overall I have a ONE board margin of error with this ball.
It's great for an entry level reactive ball. Think I will buy my son one next year but for myself I have already order my Total NV. This ball will make a nice spare ball for me thanks to lack of hook it gives my in oil.

In my opinion, the Tropical Storm is the best entry level reactive on the market. The Tropical Storm uses the Reactor coverstock that has been used on some of Storm's best releases from the last couple of years. Balls such as the Agent, Spit Fire and Street Rod line all used the Reactor coverstock. You're getting a ball you know will react well and at an awesome price! Another reason I believe this is the best entry level ball on the market is because of its core. Most entry level releases only use a puck for the core, but the Tropical Storm has a modified 4-piece core for added hit and continuation! So if you're a beginner or an advanced player looking for an option for drier lanes, the Tropical Storm is a great choice!
As always... Bowl up a Storm!

Layout 1 - Label Drilling

- This layout is considered to be a standard "Label" drill and will produce good length with mild backend reaction.
- Place the center of gravity so as to balance 1/2" oz. positive and finger.
- Rotate ball so that the pin (if applicable) is located at 1:30 in relationship to the center of gravity.
- This layout will require no balance hole.
Layout 2 - Leverage Drilling

- This drill pattern is known as a "leverage" drilling. This drilling provides medium length and maximum backend reaction.
- In this layout we place both the pin and center of gravity 3-3/8" from the positive axis point.
- Most often this drill pattern will require a balance hole to remove excess side weight.
- Place the balance hole on the PAP and remove excess side weight down to 1/2 ounce positive.
Layout 3 - Axis Weight Drilling
Note: Be sure to select a ball with less than three ounces of top weight!

- This drilling is referred to as "axis" weight. It provides early roll with a smooth, controllable backend.
- Place the center of gravity on the player's positive axis point.
- Rotate the ball so that the pin is located on the line between the PAP and finger holes.
- Place the balance hole on the PAP and remove excess side weight to less than one ounce, This will ensure the balance of the ball is withing USBC specifications.
