Our Hot Line Performance Series has always been and always will be the most hook for the money in the industry. We had great success with our Street Rod Series of bowling balls and the Turbine weight block. With today's changing oils and conditioners, we felt it was time to upgrade the tire that touches the lane

The Fast and the Furious will feature the R2S coverstock. This second generation of Reactor coverstock has amplified the hook potential of the original: so in translation, we have continued our tradition of value & performance.

Now is the time to step on that pedal to the RIGHT!

The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

The Storm Fast is just what i needed in my bag when the lanes break down this Storm Fast gives you the length with control in the backend. Also the cost is down so you will have enough money left for The Storm Furious.

One of storm's recent Hot Line releases is the Fast. The Fast will feature the pearl R2S coverstock. This second generation of pearl Reactor coverstock has amplified the hook potential and by combining this cover with the successful Turbine core has made this Performance Series a big bang for the buck.

The ball clears the front of the lane very easy. The Fast had a very strong move at the breakpoint and had great drive through the pins. For its price point this ball seems to handle medium volumes of oil with no problem. Storm did a great job with this ball.

I will be comparing the Fast to the Street Rod Pearl as this is the replacement. First off, I really like the SRP, and was very anxious to get the new Fast with the stronger R2S cover. Both balls are drilled with the pin on my grip line, and cg kicked to half arc, half strong. Both have same cover stock prep. To start, I was playing 15 at the arrows, going out to about 5 at the breakpoint. I was bowling on our house condition, and it was a fresh run from the night before, so it had plenty of time to mellow out. The Fast rolled better through the front part of the lane, while still getting to the same hook spot as the SRP. At the breakpoint, the Fast was a little smoother, while the SRP had more angle to the pocket. The Fast will handle more volumes of oil than the SRP, with less squirt.

The next game, I changed my release to increase my axis tilt (more spin through the fronts), and did not see a huge difference in the way the Fast read the front part of the lane. The Fast now saved more energy for the backends, and really stood up strong for a much heavier roll into the pocket. I was amazed at how strong the Fast rolled through the pins. With this release, the SRP was now two boards left at the arrows, and was weaker through the backend. I had to square up my shoulders to get the ball to roll over target, and roll up to the pocket, while leaving seven pins.

After comparing the Fast to the Street Rod Pearl, I really like what I see. The Fast will handle more oil, and even out the conditions better than the SRP. The ball looks and smells great. It looks like the old Hot Rod with the silver and crimson red. This ball has great shelf appeal, and has great performance at the price point.

About the Bowler

I had a chance to use both the Fast and the Furious from Storm for the past two weeks and absolutely love these two bowling balls.

Because we shoot videos for bowlingball.com, we mainly throw the latest High Performance Bowling Balls because that seems to be what people want to watch.

These so called mid performance balls react extremely well. I have to say they out hook many of my high performance bowling balls at a fraction of the cost.

The Fast has a shiny surface out of box, and that seems to help the ball retain energy down the lane for a massive move on the backend.

As a very average league bowler averaging in the 180's, I do not play the lanes outside (left of 30) very often. Because of the great reaction of the Fast, I am forced to, and I like it.

I got my ball just a few days ago and was shocked in a very good way at the balls reaction. I am just starting and was hoping for just a little hook on the back end. This ball goes forever and then makes a u turn on the back end. I find bowling with this ball makes it much more fun. The Storm Fast is a deal at this price.

Hello all, I have a little slower ball speed so we kicked the pin over the fingers with a 5 1/2 by 4 1/2 layout. This lets me really get in and go around the lane. This ball will fit in nicely around the 2nd Dimension and the Street Rod Pearl.

It gives you some traction in more oil like the 2nd but it stores energy for a nice strong move down the lane. It is plenty of ball for the price, a similar look to the Street Rod Pearl with an overall stronger motion.

With the success I had with the street rod pearl, I couldn't wait to throw a more aggressive version of it. WOW, was I impressed!!! I drilled it with a 4 1/2 X 4 with a low hole. My axis is 4 3/4 and 1 up. The pin was drilled out to smoothen out the reaction a hair and it is still very angular down lane. The lane condition I bowled on was a house shot and on Viper. Once again a super clean read through the front and a very aggressive yet predictable reaction in the back. For that price point, no other company can compete... Bowl Up A Storm!

About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed

Let me start by stating that I am a horrible bowler and have been for 37 years. I generally only bowl a few times a year and have always used lane balls. I've always thrown straight and fast. This is the first ball I've owned -- take that for what it's worth.

Having said that, I'm thrilled with my purchase. I joined my first league this year and have decided to work on a curve/hook (I don't know proper terminology, just having fun). I've tried throwing a curve a few times in the past with virtually no success. I suspect that's in part due to the lane ball I would use.

I purchased this ball a few weeks back and got it drilled at my local shop by someone who knew what they were doing. I've bowled about 10 games since then and am loving it. Throwing the curve has opened up a new sport to me. This ball reacts well to my style, which is probably less than ideal. Despite doing several things wrong, when the ball is traveling down the lane, it looks as close to a 'pro' shot as I could ever expect. I'm hitting more pins then ever and picking up splits that were previously unthinkable. Over the past few weeks, my average is steadily rising and I think I might become respectable at some point!

Final point: I'm also cheap. I did a lot of looking around for a ball trying to find the best price. Bowlingball.com consistently has the best prices. They don't add in goofy packaging fees or any hidden charges. Shipping was quick. I am so satisfied with the overall experience that I bought my wife a new ball, a roller bag and shoes since then -- all from bowlingball.com.

The Storm Fast bowling ball is one heck of a deal. At this price point I was not quite expecting this kind of reaction. On my house shot I find the ball stores up energy better than my high performance balls. It really pops on the back end and finishes strong of the deck.

Layout 1

Storm Advanced Drilling Diagram 1
  • Locate the mass bias by drawing a line from the pin through the CG. Find the location 6-¾" from the pin along this line, and mark it with "MB". This is the location of the mass bias or the secondary pin.
  • Place the major pin 5" from the player's PAP and place the "MB" on the player's ball track next to the thumb hole
  • Use this layout for length with a medium backend reaction.
  • This layout is great for medium to light oil. Also works well for players with higher rev rates.

  • Layout 2

    Storm Advanced Drilling Diagram 2
    • Locate the mass bias and mark it with "MB"
    • Place the major pin 4-¼" from the player's PAP and locate the mass bias (MB) along the player's PAL
    • This layout will most often require an extra hole, so place this hole on the PAP and remove excess side weight to "0".
    • This layout works well to produce medium length and heavy midlane roll. Usually works well on medium to heavy oil, especially longer oil patterns.

    Layout 3

    Storm Advanced Drilling Diagram 3
    • Locate the mass bias and mark the spot with an "MB". Remember, the mass bias is a fine tuning device used by advanced players.
    • Place the major pin 3-3/8" from the PAP and locate the mass bias halfway between the player's ball track and PAL
    • Place the extra hole, if necessary, on the player's PAP, removing excess side weight to less than 1 oz.

Note: This is a "High Flare" layout that should only be used by low rev players seeking maximum ball reaction!

    Layout 4

    Storm Advanced Drilling Diagram 4
(For this layout we will select a ball with a pin distance of 2-5" from the CG)
    • Place the major pin 1-½" from the PAP. Remember to keep the pin along the line located between the PAP and the player's finger holes.
    • Place the mass bias in the player's ball track.
    • Check side weight to see if an extra hole is necessary. If so, place the hole on the PAP.
    • This layout will produce heavy roll with a controllable backend reaction. Players with extensive side roll or high rev players will love this layout to help control dry, short oil patterns with very dry backends
