For the record, I never give a 5 rating. I just don't think anyone with true objectivity in their reporting should - it leaves no room for either improvement or criticism.
That said, I like the Morich Awesome Hook bowling ball a lot. I'm a mid-40's stroker who has a tendency to get a little lazy at the release point and for that reason will occasionally leave a ten simply because I didn't turn on the ball.
The Awesome Hook has a tendency to roll a little earlier than most other balls, and that's helpful when I get lazy and fail to turn hard enough at the bottom.
The best attribute to this ball is that it's very predictable when you change hand position, release point or speed. More turn on the ball equals a sharper break point. Less speed allows a greater arc. Throw it flat and the ball will roll out. On a medium condition, the ball is forgiving enough I can throw at tens with it, and volatile enough that I can stand right and hook the ball back at the seven.
So, bottom line: when the average garden variety 200 average house mouse throws this ball, they will get a nice return on their investment. It provides a lot of area to play with and seems to recover nicely from the inaccurate shot.
Recommended for low-rev, low speed players. Rev-monsters need not apply for this ball. It's way too volatile for their game.

I can throw very hard and I can say that for the first time in my life I have a ball that I can not over power when the lanes get dry. The Morich Awesome Hook reads really early and has a very powerful arc. It hits so hard I amaze myself. On a medium heavy house shot I can throw it straight up the 2nd arrow on the right hand side at about 19 mph and watch it peel back and destroy pins. I now get Tommy Jones like pin action. This ball is a real winner. It's the first ball that has exceeded my expectations on heavy oil.

The reason why I give the Morich Awesome Hook bowling ball a 4 and not is 5 is the because of the way I throw. This ball reacts nicer to me on synthetic lanes than on wood lanes. This ball, on wood lanes along with the way I throw, dies out at my feet and has absolutely no energy on the back. On synthetic, the ball has enough energy to knock out any pin(s) I used to leave. Before, I left a lot of weak tens or stone 8's or flat 7's. With this ball, I don't leave any weak 10's, hardly any 8's, and less 7's.

The Morich Awesome Hook bowling ball: I used it to win the Merchant Management Systems, Inc. 4th Annual Tri-State Classic Tournament at Colonial Lanes, Huntington, WV on Jan. 20-21, 2007, first place $2,000. Two months ago Colonial Lanes went to heavier oil and the ball I was using, Morich Onslaught, was coming up short. I went to my ball man, Sam Hobbs of Proctorville, OH, and he ordered and fitted me with the Awesome Hook. My average has gone from 204 to 216 since that time. I am a lefty so the oil doesn't break down as quickly as it does on the right side of the lane. I wholeheartedly recommend the Awesome Hook for lefties, especially those who need those extra few boards just to compete with those who throw with the wrong hand.

the morich awesome hook is a very good ball but it doesent hook alot i recommend for people to throw stragight its my spare ball and its a very very good one!!!

The Morich Awesome hook is a great ball. My friend on my high school bowling team has this ball and it works great. Not being too smart, he bought and drilled this ball the night before our regional tournament. It actually turned out pretty good. His average before he bought it was around 183. During the tournament, he averaged 238. He ended up finishing in the top 15 in State with just this ball. The only down side is if you are like me and throw sorta slow with medium to high rev rates.

It's on and off with this ball. The house I bowl in mostly has wet heads and dry backends, and this ball reacts very violently and the result is constant single pin leaves and ugly splits. I did put a smooth polish on it and seems to have calmed the sharpness of the breakpoint.
