Lane #1's sexy Curve now has a big brother for protection. Introducing the Lane # 1 Big Curve.

Dual Angle Layout(PAP 5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 60* x 5" x 30*
Balance Hole - none

Surface Preparation - Out of Box 2000 grit Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
One look at Lane #1's new Big Curve and you know it is going to hook. The dual angle layout I chose was to create some good length and try and delay the early roll and store as much up for the backend as possible.

By using the angles I did I was able to get the Mass Bias over closer to my thumb to help tame some of the hook the ball was going to create.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I was amazed at how much length I was able to get out of such a strong ball. Normally when you try and tame down a stronger ball like this you get a real weird roll out of it.

The Big Curve reacted exactly how I wanted giving me enough early roll to read a little heavier oil volume but still getting enough to create a ridiculous amount of hook down lane. As I played inside with this ball I noticed how the ball was pushing through the pattern and creating more length giving it more hook on the backend then I have seen in quite a while.

I even took this ball and played more up the boards and I think as long as you have enough oil to create the length needed you will get all the mid lane and down lane hook you want out this ball. Now granted most people would not be throwing this ball well into the second and third game unless it was polished but with a ball like this why polish it. I would use this as my starting ball for the night and open the lane up just the way I want.

Another winner from Lane #1, can't wait to see whats next.

The Lane #1 Big Curve lives up to it's name as being a very aggressive bowling ball. As a slower bowler I needed to play a deeper inside line to make sure I had some oil helping the ball down the lane. Once it hit friction it took off to the left.

If you are looking for a monster hooking ball, then check out this one.

I have also seen this ball thrown with more speed and revs and thought it looked great.

Lane 1's newest edition to the Curve line is the Big Curve. This ball is designed to handle the heavier volumes that the Curve struggles on. The Pure Explosion 9.6 cover gives you a stronger roll up front to allow for a smoother move at the breakpoint. I have seen this ball thrown on a higher volume pattern and its performance was awesome. The ball motion was strong up front but still went through the pins like a truck.

I Had purchased the Curve when it first came out and loved it but I must say that the Big curve is an absolute animal on the lanes. It opens up the game tremendously, I can just relax and let it go and it will turn the corner from anywhere. its not shaky at all, this ball holds well gets through the mid lane and drives through the pocket like a tank. Many thanks to bowlingball.com and Mike down at the Ormond Lanes Pro shop!

Lane #1 did it again!

This is really insane! I was looking for a new bowling ball that can handle the heavy lanes better as my previous ball has a limited hook on oily lanes. Hence, i took a look at the bowlingball.com and came to know about lane #1 Big Curve. As stated in the website, its perfect scale is the second highest overall, it would mean that it would be able to perform on oilier grounds. And previous reviews mention that it actually hook more than its brother, thus making me wanting to have the ball more than any others!!(although i was reading the reviews of the other bowling ball as well)
I had to wait 2 weeks for the delivery, but i was very impressed by the service provided by bowlingball.com. As they gave me updates of the ball until it reaches my home. I'm totally overjoyed. Furthermore it was my first time purchasing something online!
I had my ball drilled immediately after receiving it. And the truth is the ball hooks 5 to 8 boards more than my previous ball. And it stores plenty of power while entering the pins. This cause me the problem of having to shift my target once every 1 to 2 games as it tends to suck up the oil very fast.

But i'm still very pleased with the ball and the services provided by bowlingball.com. I plan to use my new acquired bowling ball in the upcoming tournament. I also look forward in purchasing new products from bowlingball.com. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! And for those who are looking for big hooks, this is the ball for you.

I just want to comment on eeyore14 comment. He claims he had a stome 7 in the first frame then struck out, last 11 for a 279 game, that is not possible. Maybe he should put a little thought into what he is saying before he posts it.

Lane #1 Gradient Guide

Lane #1 Gradient Guide

Pin placement:
Zones 1/6 = low flare and weaker reaction
Zones 2/5 = medium flare and medium strength reaction
Zones 3/4 = high flare and strong reaction

As you move the PIN from 0” to 6 3/4” to your PAP, or from zone 1 to zone 6 with your pin placement, you raise the RG of the core. As you get closer to zone 1, the RG is lowered.

Moving the PIN to your PAP results in the ball revving up the quickest. Moving the pin to 6 3/4” from your PAP will result in the ball revving the slowest.

Decreasing the angle from the PIN to your VAL (not to go less than 5 degrees) and/or raising the PIN, CG and/or ending CG closer to your upper VAL line will make the ball roll later.

Placing the PIN, CG and/or ending CG within zones 2 thru 5, will result in a more defined breakpoint when encountering dry boards.

Lowering the PIN, starting CG and/or ending CG closer to or below your midline, or increasing their angles to your VAL will make the ball roll earlier and result in a smoother transition when encountering dry boards.

The angle between the PIN and CG (for symmetrical balls), in relationship to the line from your PIN to PAP (as shown at 45 degrees in zone #4 on this chart) is called the secondary core angle. Or, from the PIN and MB (for intermediate Diff. balls).

In symmetrical balls with no MB markings, you can disregard the core angle, (i.e. 45 degrees and the MB markings on the chart) and just use the standard method of referring to the PIN and CG in inch distances to your PAP.

Reducing the secondary core angle, or moving the starting CG closer to your PAP than the PIN, will make the ball roll later. When increasing the angle, or moving the starting CG farther away from the PAP than the PIN, the ball will roll earlier.

Moving the ending CG to your PAP will delay the roll of the ball and produce a stronger, more even, late hook on the backend. As the ending CG is moved farther from your PAP, from zone 1 to zones 3-4, the ball will start to pick up sooner in the midlane, resulting in an earlier, stronger hook/arc. As the ending CG moves from zone 4 to zone 6, the ending mass rolls more end over end, resulting in a hook set type of reaction on the backend. The ending CG, when at 45 degrees, gives you the perfect balance of slide, roll and hook.

When the ending CG, PIN and/or starting CG are rotating in conjunction with each other, ball reaction is amplified.

Holes on the positive side of the ball will make the ball start hooking sooner. Holes on the neg. side of the ball will make the ball hook later.
